Na última Terça-feira algo bem significativo aconteceu : Eu vi Si Fu demonstrar pela primeira vez a sequência do "Muk Yan Jong" desde 2002, quando ele mostrou para mim pela primeira vez.
Era uma tarde de Terça, na qual eu daria uma rápida passada no Mo Gun para junto de Clayton Meireles e André Almeida, tirarmos fotos "Si -To" com Si Fu. Eu tinha dado essa ideia uma semana antes, mas naquela tarde em especial, eu estava com um pouco de pressa, pois precisaria trabalhar a noite.
Em meio as fotos que estavam sendo tiradas por Iuri Alvarenga, Si Fu começou a fazer a sequência do Muk Yan Jong(foto acima)...

Last Tuesday something very significant happened: Si Fu demonstrated for the first time the sequence of "Muk Yan Jong" since 2002, when he showed me for the first time.
It was an afternoon of Tuesday, in which I would give a quick pass in the Mo Gun along  Clayton Meireles and André Almeida, to take photos "Si-To" with Si Fu. I had given that idea a week before, but that particular afternoon, I was in a bit of a hurry, because I needed to work at night.
In the middle of the photos being taken by Iuri Alvarenga, Si Fu started making the sequence of Muk Yan Jong (pictured above) ...

Um Si Fu, é a principal referência de uma Família Kung Fu. Por isso, muitas vezes falas e demonstrações suas, acabam por se tornar "receitas" ou "modelos" aos ouvidos e olhos do To Dai. A aparente displicência técnica de um Si Fu , nada mais é do que uma ferramenta que permite ao To Dai se desenvolver por si mesmo, inclusive , duvidando do que o Si Fu é ou não é capaz de fazer de fato.
Parece haver um consenso , de que quanto mais se demonstra um movimento ou uma forma a um praticante, mais ele será contaminado por quem a demonstrou. E caso tenha sido seu próprio Si Fu, os efeitos podem ser ainda piores.
Assim, não ter presenciado Si Fu executar a sequência do Muk Yan Jong desde meus 18 anos, não me parece tão estranho aos 33 levando em consideração tudo isso.

A Si Fu, is the main reference of a Kung Fu Family. That is why, often, speeches and demonstrations by him, become "recipes" or "models" to To Dai's ears and eyes. The apparent technical disloyalty of a Si Fu maybe is nothing more than a tool that allows To Dai to develop on its own, even doubting what Si Fu is or is not capable of doing.
There seems to be a consensus that the more a movement or form is demonstrated to a practitioner, the more he/she will be contaminated by those who have demonstrated it. And if it was your own Si Fu, the effects could be even worse.
So, have not witnessed Si Fu perform the sequence of Muk Yan Jong since I was 18 years old, does not seem so strange to the 33 years old me , taking into account all this.

Terça foi um dia complicado de uma semana complicada, mas valeu a pena o esforço de estar presente naquele momento. Não se sabe mais quando será a próxima vez que o agora Líder do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou fará uma demonstração como essa novamente.
Conseguimos registrar o momento em vídeo e em fotos de forma que agora teremos conosco esse material que com certeza será ainda mais importante para daqui a alguns anos.

Tuesday was a tricky one-week day, but it was worth the effort to be there at the time. No one knows when it will be the next time the now Leader of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Clan Leader will do a demonstration like this again.
We managed to record the moment in video and photos so that now we will have with us this material that will certainly be even more important in a few years.

"Se isso não der certo, minha carreira vai retroceder 10 anos". - Essas são as palavras que me lembro ouvir de Si Fu em 2015. Ele se referia ao seu projeto de "Gestão Integrada" na qual ele se retiraria da direção do Núcleo Barra , para assumir uma posição mais ampla em relação aos Núcleos de nosso Clã e principalmente para ter mais tempo de ser apenas Si Fu.
Houveram muitas reviravoltas desde aquela época, mas cada To Dai seu que participou desse projeto deu tudo de si para que ele fosse adiante. Hoje, passados dois anos desde aquela conversa, pude ver mais uma vez a vantagem de não sairmos de cara com um plano pré-concebido , pois mesmo os percalços nesse caminho, foram essenciais para melhorarmos ainda mais o que já tínhamos em mente: Uma gestão não local, não olhando apenas para suas próprias questões, mas uma gestão de Núcleos de um mesmo Clã que trabalha junto, aproveitando a experiência do outro.Esse processo, nós chamamos de "Gestão Integrada".

"If that does not work, my career will go back 10 years." - These are the words I remember hearing from Si Fu in 2015. He was referring to his "Integrated Management" project in which he would withdraw from the direction of the MYVT Barra School, to assume a broader position in relation to our Clan's schools And mainly to have more time to be just Si Fu.
There had been a lot of twists since that time, but every To Dai who participated in this project gave his all to get it going. Today, two years after that conversation, I was able to see once again the advantage of not going out of the way with a pre-conceived plan, for even the mishaps along the way were essential to further improving what we had in mind: Not local, not just looking at one´s own issues, but a school management of the same Clan that works together, leveraging the experience of the other. This process we call "Integrated Management."

Ainda nos anos 80, Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura começou a apresentar na América do Sul, um novo conceito de profissional de artes marciais: Você poderia ter uma vida digna e plena se dedicando exclusivamente ao trabalho com Artes Marciais.
Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura, não estava sempre com roupas chinesas de cores fortes, ele usava roupas tradicionais quando isso era adequado a um determinado evento. Em outras ocasiões públicas, ele se apresentava com cabelos bem cortados, ternos ou blazers alinhados e sapatos sempre bem cuidados.
Outro ponto importante de sua apresentação pessoal, era seu português perfeito, algo que na época, principalmente fora de São Paulo, não condizia com a imagem que se tinha  do profissional de artes marciais.

Still in the 80's, Grandmaster Leo Imamura began introducing a new concept in martial arts in South America: You could live a dignified and full life by dedicating yourself exclusively to working with Martial Arts.
Grandmaster Leo Imamura, was not always in bright-colored Chinese clothes, he wore traditional clothes when appropriate for a particular event. In other public occasions, he presented himself waearing well-cut hair, lined up suits or blazers and shoes always well cared .
Another important point of his personal presentation was his perfect use of Portuguese language, something that at the time, mainly outside of São Paulo State, did not fit the image that one had of the professional of martial arts.

Além de todas estas contribuições subjetivas , objetivamente Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura(foto), implementou um nível de administração nos Núcleos da Moy Yat Ving Tsun que não existia por esses lados naqueles tempos. Meu Mestre Julio Camacho(foto), que segue Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura desde 1992. Sempre foi um Diretor de Núcleo de ponta da Moy Yat Ving Tsun, tendo ganhado por anos seguidos o prêmio como destaque nesse cargo.
Duas grandes características de meu Mestre Julio Camacho ao longo de sua carreira sempre foram sua visão sempre no futuro que beneficia a todos, sua coragem de levar os Núcleos que dirigiu adiante e principalmente: Sua natureza agregadora. Sempre pensar do todo para a parte.

In addition to all these subjective contributions, objectively Grand Master Leo Imamura (photo), he implemented a level of administration in the Moy Yat Ving Tsun Schools in Brazil and South America,  that did not exist on those sides in those times. My Master Julio Camacho (photo), who follows Grandmaster Leo Imamura since 1992. He has always been a leading  Director of Moy Yat Ving Tsun in Brazil, having won for several years the award as a highlight in this position.
Two great characteristics of my Master Julio Camacho throughout his career have always been his vision in the future that benefits everyone, his courage to lead the schools he directed ahead and mainly: His aggregating nature. Always think from the whole to the part.

Na "Gestão Integrada" do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou, eu deixei de ser o Diretor apenas do Núcleo Méier, para me tornar o Diretor Geral de Núcleos. Qualquer Núcleo que venha a existir que faça parte da Gestão Integrada, estará sob minha Direção Geral.
Esse novo modelo, favorece com que eu possa compartilhar da minha experiência com todos os Núcleos ao mesmo tempo, e que todos estejam no mesmo patamar de gestão.

In the "Integrated Management" of the Clan Moy Jo Lei Ou, I ceased to be the only Director of the Méier School, to become the General Director of Schools. Any school that may exist that forms part of the Integrated Management will be under my General Direction.
This new model favors that I can share my experience with all the schools at the same time, and that everyone is at the same level of management.

André Almeida(foto) , é discípulo de Mestre Julio Camacho e hoje dirige o Núcleo Barra da Tijuca. A velocidade com que vem se desenvolvendo desde 2012 quando foi admitido na Família Moy Jo Lei Ou é algo impressionante.
André apesar de tímido, é uma pessoa carismática, mas não é através dessa característica que vem conseguindo gerir o Núcleo Barra. Na verdade, com uma grande capacidade de não se abalar de forma aparente, André transparece sempre aos membros do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou um sentimento de tranquilidade mesmo diante de situações adversas. Seu coração aberto e disponibilidade para aprender e se desenvolver, transformaram André numa espécie de praticante modelo de nosso Clã, já que a "olhos vistos" é possível percebermos como o desenvolvimento do Kung Fu de alguém, pode transformar sua vida pessoal.

André Almeida (photo), is a disciple of Master Julio Camacho and today heads the MYVT Barra School. The speed with which he has been developing since 2012 when he joined the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family is something impressive.
André, although shy, is a charismatic person, but it is not through this characteristic that he manages to manage the Barra School. Indeed, with a great capacity for not being shaken in an apparent way, André always transpires to the members of the Clan Moy Jo Lei Ou, a sense of tranquility even in the face of adverse situations. His open heart and willingness to learn and develop have transformed André into a model practitioner of our Clan , since  is possible to easily realize how someone's development of Kung Fu can transform his personal life.

  Clayton Meireles, dentro da "Gestão Integrada", é o novo Diretor do Núcleo Méier. Jovem, de fala mansa e tranquilo. Clayton vem se mostrando um grande líder carismático no Núcleo Méier, na Zona Norte do Rio de Janeiro. Assim como André , Clayton também começou no Núcleo Méier, e graças a sua decisão de participar do projeto, se tornou peça fundamental para que esta configuração existisse e começasse.
Si Fu, será é o superintendente desta Gestão, fazendo a supervisão , dirigindo de um ponto de vista mais amplo toda a Gestão Integrada, e principalmente, orientando todos os Diretores sempre baseado nos valores de nosso Clã : Proposição, Adesão e Apoio.

Clayton Meireles, within the "Integrated Management", is the new Director of the Méier School. Young, quiet-spoken. Clayton has shown himself to be a great charismatic leader in the Meier School, in the Northern Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Like Andre, Clayton also started at the Méier School, and thanks to his decision to participate in the project, he became a key player for this configuration to exist and to begin.
Si Fu, will be the superintendent of this Management, supervising, directing from a broader point of view all the Integrated Management, and mainly, guiding all Directors always based on the values of our Clan: Proposition, adherence and prop.

Todos os membros da Gestão Integrada estarão em São Paulo no próximo dia 04 de Fevereiro, para a celebração do ano novo Chinês promovida pelo Grande Clã Moy Yat Sang.

PEREIRA NÃO É MAIS DIRETOR DO MÉIER (PEREIRA ISN´T THE MEIER SCHOOL DIRECTOR ANYMORE)

Em 2008, quando Si Suk Ursula que coordenava as atividades no Méier ficou grávida de Rebeka Lima Lopes, assumi temporariamente seu lugar com o trabalho nessa região. Por algum motivo que desconheço até hoje, quando ela pôde retornar preferiu deixar comigo.
Em 2011 com a ajuda de muitos irmãos Kung Fu, atravessamos nosso momento mais desafiador: Praticamos em escritórios dos praticantes, em suas casas, em garagens, etc... Estávamos sem Mo Gun, e foi desse momento , que surgiu o Núcleo Méier.

In 2008, when Si Suk Ursula who coordinated activities at Méier neighborhood became pregnant  , I temporarily assumed her place with the work in that region. For some reason I do not know until now, when she was able to return, she preferred to leave it with me.
In 2011 with the help of many Kung Fu brothers, we went through our most challenging moment: We practiced in the practitioners' offices, in their homes, in garages, etc ... We were without a Mo Gun, and from that moment on, the Meier School appeared.

Talvez seja coincidência , talvez seja uma sorte boa, quem sabe , uma vocação. Seja o que for, o Núcleo Méier parece conseguir reunir pessoas fora de série com uma facilidade muito grande. Você pode me perguntar o que seriam "Pessoas fora de série", e eu diria "pessoas leais".

Em 2013, um rapaz com "cara de bobo" apareceu para conhecer o Ving Tsun Experience. Apesar de seu físico avantajado para pouca idade, Clayton Meireles transparecia muita inocência e tinha uma risada fácil. Na verdade, ele ria de qualquer coisa.rs

Maybe it's a coincidence, maybe it's a good luck, maybe a vocation. Whatever it is, the Meier School seems to be able to bring together outstanding people with great ease. You may ask me what would be "Outstanding People," and I would say "loyal people."
In 2013, a guy with a kind of "silly face" appeared to start the Ving Tsun Experience. Despite his advanced physique at a young age, Clayton Meireles was very innocent and had an easy laugh. In fact, he laughed at anything. haha

Talvez o momento de virada de Clayton, tenha sido quando ele me chamou para comunicar que precisaria parar de praticar. Si Fu sempre deixa claro de forma muito tranquila, que qualquer membro de sua Família, precisa ter espaço para se aproximar e inclusive se afastar . Segundo ele, talvez quando o praticante puder se aproximar novamente, será de uma forma melhor.

Eu talvez ainda seja um tanto quanto manipulador ao contrário de Si Fu nesse aspecto. Então, após conversa com Clayton, ele decidiu que continuaria. Sua energia aos poucos foi se renovando, seu problema foi resolvido, e quando isso aconteceu, em apenas um ano tínhamos um praticante de ponta.

Maybe Clayton's turning point was when he called me to communicate that he would have to stop practicing. Si Fu always makes it clear very quietly, that any member of his Family needs to have space to approach and even move away. According to him, perhaps when the practitioner can approach again, it will be in a better way.
I may still be somewhat manipulative as opposed to Si Fu in that regard. Then, after talking to Clayton, he decided he would continue. His energy was slowly renewing, his problem was solved, and when that happened, in just one year we had a high-end practitioner.

Aos poucos, Clayton foi ganhando seu espaço e o respeito de seus pares. Podemos dizer que sua carreira começou de forma mais séria no trabalho com crianças entre 7 e 12 anos que chamamos de "Siu Ye Kuen". Sua dedicação além do que era esperado dele, me fez pensar que era o momento oportuno para pôr em prática um projeto do Si Fu, no qual eu me retiraria da Direção do Núcleo Méier, assim como ele fez no Núcleo Barra ao dar lugar para seu discípulo André Almeida.
Demorei a entender esse processo, mas tomei consciência da minha visão limitada quando ele me disse durante um almoço: "Thiago, só podemos controlar o que é pequeno. Só temos controle sobre o que é pequeno."

Slowly, Clayton was gaining his space and the respect of his peers. We can say that his career began in a more serious way in working with children between 7 and 12 years that we call "Siu Ye Kuen". His dedication beyond what was expected of him made me think that it was the right time to put into practice a project by Si Fu in which I would withdraw from the Meier School Directorate, just as he did at the Barra School by giving place to his Disciple André Almeida.
I was slow to understand this process, but I became aware of my limited vision when he told me during a lunch: "Thiago, we can only control what is small. We only have control over what is small."

Com esse novo quadro, os Núcleos Barra e Méier passam a ser dirigidos não por Mestres, mas sim, por membros da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou. O que tão pouco significa, que quando algum membro de minha Família tiver condições assumirá o Méier no lugar do Clayton. Partimos de uma premissa, que o Diretor dos Núcleos do que chamamos de "Gestão Integrada", é aquele com mais condições de fazê-lo.

With this new picture, the Barra and Méier School will be directed not by Masters, but by members of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family. Which means so little that when any member of my Family is in a position to assume the Méier School in Clayton's place. We start from a premise, which the Director of a schoolof what we call "Integrated Management", is the one with the most conditions to do so.

 "To Dai", também significa "Seguidor"... Seguir um Si Fu nem sempre é uma tarefa fácil. Seguir meu Si Fu nem sempre é também. Sua visão está tão à frente, que para um "To Dai" como eu que vive muitas vezes iludido pelo "status quo" , a quebra de paradigma demora um pouco para ser processada, não é à toa que meu Nome Kung Fu é "Fat Lei".  Mas é a capacidade de seguir que me permite ver mais tarde do que Si Fu estava falando. Permanecer tempo suficiente para ver as coisas se desdobrarem.

"To Dai" also means "Follower" ... Following a Si Fu is not always an easy task. Following my Si Fu is not always too. His vision is so far ahead that for a "To Dai" like me who lives often deluded by the "status quo", the paradigm break takes a while to get processed, no wonder that my Kung Fu name is "Fat Lei". But it is the ability to follow that allows me to see later what Si Fu was talking about. Staying long enough to see things unfold.

TWO NEW MEMBERS IN MOY FAT LEI FAMILY (DOIS NOVOS MEMBROS NA FAMÍLIA MOY FAT LEI)

 Lá estava eu: Acelerando pelas ruas do Méier em meu carro , até chegar a Rua das Oficinas. Lá, avistei um orelhão e após jogar o carro na calçada , liguei o “alerta” e telefonei para o Si Fu: “Claro que não Thiago!... “- Disse Si Fu parecendo sem paciência – “Era para você me pegar em casa e irmos juntos até o Citta America” – Concluiu.   Mais calmo, entrei em meu carro, liguei o som, e enquanto tocava “Purple Rain” do Prince, me dirigi a casa do Si Fu.

There I was: Speeding my car in the streets of Méier , until arriving at  Oficinas Street. There, I saw a payphone and I threw my car on the sidewalk, I turned on the "alert" and phone Si Fu: "Of course not Thiago! ..." - Said Si Fu looking without patience - "It was for you to pick me up at home And let's go together to Citta America Mall "- he concluded. Calmer, I got into my car, turned on the sound, and while was playing Prince's "Purple Rain", I drove to Si Fu's home.

Era uma manhã de muito calor, apesar da reforma do Núcleo Méier ter sido um sucesso em vários aspectos como o de promover novas lideranças. Ainda nos faltava solucionar o problema com a climatização, e por conta disso, meu irmão Kung Fu , Iuri Alvarenga, suava como se não houvesse amanhã enquanto praticava com Vitor, Clayton e Keith Markus.  O combinado até então, seria buscar o Si Fu no shopping Citta America para de lá, juntos irmos a outro shopping na Barra para o convite de admissão na Família Fat Lei de Renato e Poliana Madeira.  Acontece que recebi uma mensagem de Si Fu: “...Se você quiser me encontrar cerca de 11h , podemos ir nos falando no carro e termos mais tempo juntos...” – Naquele momento, achei que fosse para encontrá-lo no Citta America e pela distância, saí em disparada.

It was a very hot morning, although the Méier School reform was a success in many respects such as promoting new leaderships. We still had to solve the problem with the air conditioning, and because of that, my Kung Fu brother , Iuri Alvarenga, was sweating if there was no tomorrow while practicing with Vitor, Clayton and Keith Markus. The combination until then, would be to get the Si Fu in the Citta America mall to from there, together we go to another mall in Barra for the invitation of admission in the Moy Fat Lei Family of Renato and Poliana Madeira. It turns out that I received a message from Si Fu: "... If you want to meet me around 11:00, we can go talking in the car and have more time together ..." - At that moment, I thought I was going to meet him at Citta America and because of the distance, I flew off to my car!

Quando entrei na Família Kung Fu(foto), não conseguia entender a comoção que eventos, aniversário do Si Fu, Cerimônias, ou até mesmo sua presença ou um simples pedido seu causavam nas pessoas.  Praticantes como Si Suk Ursula e André Cardoso, pareciam dar tudo de si no mais simples dos pedidos de seu Si Hing Julio Camacho, meu Si Fu.  E com o tempo, pude perceber, que quando praticamos, colocamos tudo nós mesmos para executar um movimento e entender o que está por detrás dele, por isso, com relação a Vida Kung Fu não poderia ser diferente. Até o ponto em que em nossas próprias vidas cotidianas, possamos fazer o mesmo.

Então, dezoito anos depois de entrar na Família Kung Fu , lá estava eu dando uma de Tom Cruise, e correndo sem parar até o carro, liguei ele em disparada para a Barra, até que um pensamento cruzou minha cabeça: “Será que era para encontrá-lo em casa ou no Citta America?” – Como estava sem celular, não podia mais falar com ele, e quase chegando na Rua das Oficinas, me vi sem saber o que fazer até que avistei um orelhão.

When I entered the Kung Fu Family (photo above), I could not understand the commotion that events like Si Fu's birthday, ceremonies, or even his presence or a simple request used to cause in people. Practitioners like Si Suk Ursula and André Cardoso, seemed to give their all in the simplest of the requests of their Si Hing Julio Camacho, my Si Fu. And over time, I realized, that when we practice, we put everything of ourselves to perform a movement and understand what lies behind it, so in relation to Kung Fu Life could not be different. To the point where in our own daily lives we can do the same.


Then, eighteen years after joining the Kung Fu Family, I was running like Tom Cruise , and  to the car, I was driving like crazy to Barra, until a thought crossed my mind: "I should find him at home or at Citta America Mall? "- As I was without a cell phone, I could no longer talk to him, and almost at Oficinas Street, I found myself wondering what to do until I saw a pay phone.

Si Fu certa vez falando sobre o Siu Nim Tau enquanto praticávamos, comentou que não podemos “flutuar” nossos pensamentos enquanto o executamos. Precisamos estar presentes a cada movimento e cada momento, do início, ao fim do Siu Nim Tau. E isso, ele chamou de “Meditação em movimento” : “Se você flutuar numa luta você morre”.
Em muitos momentos na Vida Kung Fu, inclusive quando queremos muito acertar, acabamos esquecendo algo, nos atrapalhando, fazendo besteira... Acho que como Si Fu falou muitas vezes, “Siu Nim Tau” também significa “Pouca vontade”. Então, estaríamos fazendo exatamente o contrário de sua natureza.

Once, Si Fu was talking about the Siu Nim Tau while we were practicing, he commented that we can not fly away with our thoughts while we execute it. We need to be present with every movement and every moment, from the beginning, to the end of the Siu Nim Tau. And this, he called "Moving Meditation": "If your mind fly away during a fight you die."

In many moments in Kung Fu Life, even when we want to hit it a lot, we end up forgetting something, getting in the way, making foolish ... I think as Si Fu said many times, "Siu Nim Tau" also means "Little will." So we would be doing exactly the opposite of its nature.

 Peguei Si Fu em casa e no caminho foi possível termos uma longa conversa sobre “Baai Si” muito esclarecedora. E se quando estamos praticando, precisamos entender as alavancas de nosso próprio corpo e seus ajustes finos para conseguirmos fazer o que foi proposto. Aquela conversa mostrou que quando se é Si Fu, também é importante observar as alavancas, mas as invisíveis. Aquelas que impulsionam a Família Kung Fu sempre à frente, sem força,sem exagero.
Si Fu que também é Psicólogo precisou atender um paciente e eu fiquei esperando. Geralmente carrego um livro comigo ou meu notebook. Naquele dia, eu não tinha nada perto. Sentei-me num banco de frente para um grande portal por onde corria um vento incrível naquele dia tão quente e refleti sobre o que havíamos conversado.

I got Si Fu at home and on the way it was possible to have a long talk about "Baai Si", also very enlightening. And if when we are practicing, we need to understand the levers of our own body and its fine adjustments in order to be able to do what was proposed. That conversation showed that when one is Si Fu, it is also important to observe the levers, but the invisible ones. When we arrived at Yuki Restaurant, a restaurant where my two younger Kung Fu brothers, Clayton and Rodrigo, my To Dai Pedro Freire and the two aspiring members of the Moy Fat Lei  Family Renato and Poliana Madeira  were waiting for us.

 Renato me pegou de surpresa quando alguns meses atrás apareceu para conhecer o Núcleo Méier com o intuito de iniciar seu filho mais velho(foto) no caminho das artes marciais chinesas, junto de todos os seus familiares. Era um dia bem quente, com um calor insuportável, recebi eles o melhor que pude. Para minha surpresa, não só Dani , mas Renato e Poliana começaram também a praticar. E seu envolvimento com todos do Núcleo Méier foi tamanho, que me dava a engraçada sensação de que eles já estavam conosco a bem mais tempo.

Renato took me by surprise when a few months ago he came to meet the Méier School with the intention of starting his eldest son (photo above) on the way to the Chinese martial arts, with all his relatives. It was a very hot day, with unbearable heat, I received them the best I could. To my surprise, not only Dani, but Renato and Poliana also began to practice. And their involvement with everyone of Méier School was such a big thing that it gave me the funny feeling that they were with us a lot longer.

Esse tipo de processo é muito especial não só para mim, mas principalmente dentro do contexto do “Mo Lam” (O círculo marcial). Pois é a “simples” presença do Si Fu do Si Fu que simboliza a anuência que o segundo dá para o trabalho do primeiro. Além disso, tendo a importância que tem dentro do “Mo Lam”, a Família Moy Fat Lei sempre esteve com uma espécie de turbina desde seu início, apenas pelo fato de descender do Si Fu.

We sat at the table, in a previously unprecedented configuration, with Si Fu participating directly in the invitation of two new members to join my Family. This kind of process is very special not only for me, but mainly within the context of "Mo Lam" (The Martial Arts Circles). For it is the "simple" presence of the Si Fu of Si Fu which symbolizes the consent that the second gives to the work of the first. In addition, given the importance Si Fu has within the "Mo Lam", the Moy Fat Lei Family has always been with a kind of turbine since its inception, just because it descended from Si Fu.

Eu realmente costumo acreditar que para tudo se tem um jeito. E a primeira coisa que me chamou a atenção no Renato e na Poliana, foi toda a organização feita pelo casal , e os constantes ajustes em seus horários para que eles e o Daniel pudessem seguir com a prática. Outras pessoas não teriam perseverado.
Conforme as semanas foram passando o envolvimento dos dois aumentou ao ponto de descobrir que a lista de locais para o jantar do aniversário do Si Fu, e a negociação com estes locais, estava acontecendo por parte deles. Num primeiro momento, fiquei um pouco receoso, mas pensei melhor
e deixei as coisas acontecerem por si só, monitorando de longe com a ajuda do Clayton e Rodrigo.

I really believe that everything has a way. And the first thing that caught my attention in Renato and Poliana was the whole organization made by the couple, and the constant adjustments in their schedules so that they and Daniel could follow the practice. Other people would not have persevered.
As the weeks went by the involvement of the two increased to the point of discovering that the list of places for Si Fu's birthday dinner, and the negotiation with them, was happening on their part. At first, I was a bit afraid, but I thought better and let things happen by myself, monitoring from afar with the help of Clayton and Rodrigo.

Muito antes da febre dos oradores e palestrantes que invadiu o Brasil nos últimos anos , no ano de 2000, Si gung(foto) comentou durante uma palestra no antigo Núcleo dirigido por Si Fu em Jacarepaguá, que uma boa oratória precisava variar de forma a não tornar maçante a experiência da audiência.  Essa variação poderia conter uma história engraçada vez ou outra, de forma a trazer de volta a atenção de quem nos ouve.

Long before the fever of the motivational speakers  that invaded Brazil in the last years, in the year 2000, Si Gung (photo) commented during a lecture in the old School directed by Si Fu in Jacarepaguá, that a good oratory had to vary so as not to Dull the audience experience. This variation could contain a funny story in order to bring the attention of the listener back.

Geralmente quando faço um convite para alguém entrar na Família Kung Fu, procuro variar da mesma forma durante a refeição, para que a experiência seja plena, e para que evitemos um ar sisudo. Desta vez, graças a presença de Si Fu(foto) que trouxe um ar descontraído e repleto de curiosidades. Tive a possibilidade de equilibrar com a porção mais séria de um almoço com este propósito.
Não inventamos nada ali, apenas usamos o conceito de Humanidade e Formalidade do Confucionismo. Enquanto Si Fu trazia o lado "Humano", me foquei no lado "Formal".
Foi uma experiência nova e acho que funcionou bem.

Usually when I invite someone into the Kung Fu Family, I try to vary in the same way during the meal, so that the experience is full, and so that we avoid seriousness. This time, thanks to the presence of Si Fu (photo) that brought a relaxed air and full of curiosities. I was able to balance with the most serious portion of a luncheon for this purpose.
We do not invent anything there, we only use the concept of Humanity and Formality of Confucianism. While Si Fu had the "Human" side, I focused on the "Formal" side. It was a new experience and I think it worked well.

Em agradecimento pelo convite , é de praxe que se entregue um Hung Baau em momento adequado. Na foto acima, recebo de Renato um Hung Baau para mim e outro para ser entregue a minha esposa.
Renato por alguma razão me lembra meu irmão Kung Fu Thiago Silva: Alguém muito inteligente que está sempre sorrindo.
Do nosso primeiro contato por telefone quando ele procurou a prática do Ving Tsun para seu filho mais velho, até o momento desta foto, tudo passou num piscar de olhos. Fico feliz, que tenha sido assim.

In appreciation for the invitation, it is customary for a Hung Baau to be delivered at an appropriate time. In the photo above, I receive from Renato a Hung Baau for me and another to be delivered to my wife.
Renato for some reason reminds me of my  Kung Fu brother Thiago Silva: Someone very intelligent who is always smiling.
From our first phone call when he sought Ving Tsun's practice for his eldest son, so far this picture has all gone by in the blink of an eye. I'm glad that's how it was.

Também foram entregues Hung Baau ao Si Fu que nos deu a honra de sua presença. Na foto acima, vemos o momento que Poliana entrega um Hung Baau ao seu agora "Si Gung".
Poliana frisou o quanto se sentiu acolhida, junto de sua família, por todos do Mo Gun. Poliana , junto de Renato, viveu em muito lugares do Brasil e no Rio. Lugares que tinham Famílias Kung Fu. Porém, foi justamente no Méier que sua entrada e a de Renato se deu. Como disse meu Si Fu para mim, quando entrei na Família Kung Fu : "Espero que não seja por acaso".

Poliana said how much she felt welcomed, with her family, by everyone of Mo Gun. Poliana, with Renato, lived in many places in Brazil and in Rio. Places that had Kung Fu Families. However, it was precisely in Méier that their entrance took place in my Family. As my Si Fu said to me when I joined the Kung Fu Family: "I hope it's not by chance."

Nosso dia ainda foi mais longe a caminho do aeroporto internacional com Si Fu para que pegasse seu novo passaporte quando o almoço se findou. Foi mais um dia especial com Si Fu, no qual a principio eu estava com muitos compromissos marcados. Mas aí, me lembro das citações de Si Fu alguns anos atrás a uma passagem de Rabelais : " ...Conheço muitos que não puderam , quando deviam. Porque não quiseram quando podiam..."

Our day was even further afield on the way to the international airport with Si Fu to get his new passport when lunch was over. It was another special day with Si Fu, in which at first I had many appointments. But then, I remember Si Fu's citations a few years ago to a passage by Rabelais: "... I know many who could not when they should, because they did not want when they could ..."

Uma vez perguntei ao meu Mestre Julio Camacho em 2011, por qual razão ele não mantinha fotos de suas duas filhas na mesa de seu recém montado escritório no novo Mo Gun em que estávamos alojados na época. Sua resposta como sempre foi surpreendente: " Eu não deixo fotos da Jade e da Julia aqui, para me forçar a estar com elas pessoalmente". - Fiz um movimento involuntário com o lábio inferior contraindo ele e balançando a cabeça positivamente num gesto de surpresa e concordância. Mestre Julio continuou: " Só deixamos fotos de pessoas que não vemos muito. Olha o Mo Gun por exemplo: Você vê alguma foto minha com exceção da Galeria de Mestres?" - Respondi que não com a cabeça e ele prosseguiu: "Eu não sou narcisista! Estou sempre aqui , não precisa de fotos minhas. Mas do Si Gung (referindo-se a seu Mestre) , você vê que tem algumas.."

I once asked my Master Julio Camacho in 2011, for which reason he did not keep photos of his two daughters on the table in his newly set up office in the new Mo Gun we were staying in at the time. His response as always was surprising: "I do not leave pictures of Jade and Julia here, to force me to be with them personally." I made an involuntary movement with my lower lip contracting it and nodding positively in a gesture of surprise and agreement. Master Julio continued: "We only leave pictures of people that we do not see much. Look at the Mo Gun, for example: Do you see any pictures of me other than the Masters Gallery?" "I'm always here, you do not need photos of me, but from Si Gung (referring to his Master), you see that there are some ..."

"Uma vida de privações". - É geralmente o que ouvimos de pessoas que se dedicaram profundamente a um determinado seguimento. Ao ouvirmos tal frase, pensamos em noites sem dormir, não poder as comidas que gostamos, um treinamento de horas, etc...  Mas nunca pensamos em estarmos longe das pessoas que amamos, para que possamos acompanhar outras pessoas que amamos e nos preparar melhor para receber pessoas que um dia podemos vir a amar.
Deixe-me contar um pouco, sobre as incríveis viagens de Mestre Julio Camacho...E principalmente: De uma vida dedicada as artes marciais!

"A life of deprivation." - It's usually what we hear from people who have been deeply committed to a particular way of life. When we hear this phrase, we think of sleepless nights, not the food we like, a lot of hours of training, etc. But we never think of being away from the people we love, so that we can accompany other people we love and prepare better To receive people that one day we can come to love.
Let me tell you a little, about the incredible journeys of Mestre Julio Camacho ... And especially: From a life dedicated to martial arts!

Com os mesmos olhos que seriam parte marcante de seu semblante e futuramente de suas duas filhas, meu Mestre Julio nasceu em 30 de novembro de 1969, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, estado do Rio de Janeiro no Brasil . A tão querida por todos nós , Sra. Vera Lucia Corrêa Camacho, professora universitária e psicopedagoga , sua mãe, era casada com Frederico Camacho, pai de Mestre Julio Camacho e  professor de Artes Marciais.

With the same eyes that would be a striking part of his countenance and in future of his two daughters, my Master Julio was born on November 30, 1969, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The one so dear to us all, Mrs. Vera Lucia Corrêa Camacho, a university professor and psychopedagogue, his mother, was married to Frederico Camacho, father of Master Julio Camacho and professor of Martial Arts.

Dos  4 a 5 anos por influência de seu pai(foto), meu Mestre praticou Jiu Jitsu, depois disso, praticou  Karate até os 9 anos de idade. E talvez para declarar sua independência , começou a se dedicar ao Surf com 13 anos.
Infelizmente quando meu Mestre tinha 17 anos, seu pai veio a falecer. Como ele morava em Recife, meu Mestre passou a noite no quarto onde seu pai dormia  e redescobriu seus livros de artes marciais. Lá ele se depara com um livro sobre Ving Tsun e em seu retorno pratica Karate com o Sr Heraldo Soares e apenas pouco depois busca o Ving Tsun.

From the age of four to five, under the influence of his father (photo), my Master practiced Jiu Jitsu, after which he practiced Karate until he was 9 years old. And perhaps to declare his independence, began to dedicate to the Surf with 13 years old.
Unfortunately when my Master was 17 years old, his father passed away. As he lived in Recife in notrhwest of Brazil, my Master spent the night in the room where his father slept and rediscovered his martial arts books. There he comes across a book about Ving Tsun and on his return he tried Karate with Mr. Heraldo Soares and only shortly afterwards he seeks the Ving Tsun.

Estamos no Rio de Janeiro dos anos 80. "Juba &Lula" ainda passava na TV , e estava fresco na memória dos jovens , as longas filas que o filme "Menino do Rio" havia formado nas portas de cinema no início daquela década. Meu Mestre Julio Camacho em meio a isso tudo,  trabalhava como redator,e numa certa tarde achou anuncio com uma imagem do Bruce Lee no lixo com endereço de um local para prática de Ving Tsun. Um motoboy da empresa que trabalhava o ensinou a chegar a Marechal Hermes e lá começou sua primeira experiência com o Ving Tsun. Ele saltava do trem em Bento Ribeiro e andava até Marechal para praticar.

We were in Rio de Janeiro in the 1980s. "Juba & Lula" TV Show was still on TV, and it was fresh in the minds of the young people, the long lines that the movie "Menino do Rio" had formed on the movie doors earlier that decade. My Master Julio Camacho, in the midst of all this, worked as a writer, and one afternoon he found an add with a picture of Bruce Lee in the garbage with an address for a Ving Tsun practice. A motoboy of the company that worked with him taught him to arrive at Marshal Hermes neighborhood and there began his first experience with the Ving Tsun. He would jump off the train at Bento Ribeiro station and walk to Marshal to practice.

Ainda que tenha praticado o Sistema Ving Tsun por vários anos no final da década de 80, seu efetivo início no Sistema pode ser considerado como tendo sido no dia 27 de agosto de 1992, quando foi admitido na Família Moy Yat Sang 梅一生, através da intermediação de Moy Wai Nang 梅為能.

Although he practiced the Ving Tsun System for several years in the late 1980s, his actual inception in the System can be considered to have been on August 27, 1992, when he was admitted into the Moy Yat Sang  Family through Mediation by Moy Wai Nang 梅為能.

Cada grupo de praticantes de Kung Fu, ao qual chamamos "Família Kung Fu", tem um espírito diferente, um jeito diferente, uma perspectiva diferente em relação a como explorar o Kung Fu e o desenvolvimento de cada praticante.  Isso ocorre quase sempre, pelo tom dado pelo líder dessa Família.

Each group of Kung Fu practitioners, which we call the "Kung Fu Family", has a different spirit, a different way, a different perspective on how to explore Kung Fu and the development of each practitioner. This is almost always the tone given by the leader of this Family.

 Em 1987 Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura , fez algo que até mesmo se assistíssemos em um filme, seria difícil de conceber: Ele se tornou membro da Família Moy Yat mesmo sendo residente no Brasil. E ano após ano, por várias e várias vezes. Repetia a mesma viagem entre São Paulo e NY , a fim de poder trazer para o Brasil não só um Kung Fu de qualidade, mas muito conhecimento da cultura clássica chinesa, que no Brasil, principalmente no meio das artes marciais eram inéditos como o "Hung Baau".

In 1987 Grand Master Leo Imamura did something that even if we watched in a movie, it would be difficult to conceive: He became a member of the Moy Yat Family even though he was resident in Brazil. And year after year, over and over again.He repeated the same trip between São Paulo and NY, in order to bring to Brazil not only a quality Kung Fu, but a lot of knowledge of the Chinese classical culture, which in Brazil, especially in the martial arts wereunknown as the "Hung Baau "(red packet).

Dentre os discípulos de Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura que seguiram seus passos nestas viagens ao redor do mundo, está o meu Mestre Julio Camacho. Tendo acompanhado seu Mestre por todo o globo,essas viagens sempre foram muito especiais, mas quase sempre não foram fáceis de serem realizadas.

Among the disciples of Grand Master Leo Imamura who followed in his footsteps on these trips around the world, is my Master Julio Camacho. Having accompanied his Master all over the globe, these journeys were always very special, but almost always were not easy to carry out.

Desde sua primeira ida aos EUA , fazendo parte da histórica comitiva do Brasil que esteve presente no 60º aniversário do Patriarca Moy Yat (Foto) que se aposentaria na mesma ocasião. Tendo presenciado as viagens do meu Mestre por mais de uma década, acredito que seja mais uma questão de atitude. A capacidade de apontar o foco para a realização, e essa atitude, define quem vai e quem fica nestas viagens...
