(Photo of Chan Yu Ming and his wife which is on a wall in San Dak [Shun De].
This photo is often confused on the internet)

The first time I came across stories about the son of our ancestor Chan Wah Shun, Chan Yu Ming, I was fascinated by everything about it! I never knew everything, just pieces that came to me.
I found for example, that he earned the nickname  of 七 省 棍 王 (Chat Saang Gwan Wong) or "King of the Gwaan of the Seven Provinces ". Due to a tournament that he won using the Luk Dim Bun Gwaan without losing to anyone. But nothing to compare to the nickname he also had : "Mythical Leopard".
I never wanted to know why he had that nickname, I just thought it was too cool! And could not wait to practice in the Domain Luk Dim Bun Gwaan only to understand this weapon that gave the nickname to him.

NEW LEGENDS OF KUNG FU MASTERS:
NEW LEGENDS OF KUNG FU MASTERS:

A good excuse for a  Ving Tsun practitioner

(Praticando Luk Dim Bun Gwaan no caminho para a Prainha, Zona Oeste do Rio)
(Rio de Janeiro, West Zone: Practicing on a Saturday morning)

É a desculpa perfeita!

But as readers and those who know me personally know, my left knee is practically nonexistent, and practice Luk Dim Bun Gwaan is something that time just makes it more difficult at first, because the more time passes, the worse my knee problem is .
Si Fu say that nothing better than being sick. It's the perfect excuse! Do you have an appointment, you are late, forget it or sleep too much and just in time sends a message saying, "I can not go, I'm sick." How can anyone challenge someone who says he is sick?

Who sees the photos of the Kung Fu family in this Blog, you notice that some faces are always there. Others are new, and others are gone for sometime and return to reappear. Others, no longer appear. But some see these pictures and can find simple being together. It scares me more, when members of the Clan Moy Jo Lei Ou itself fantasize that.
It turns out that by seeing other people near or distant  going forward , keppin'movin'on day after day without showing suffering, pain, despair, or simply doubt. It makes us believe that this person does not have issues that sometimes do get a good excuse not to be present, not to position, etc ...
(Si Fu me observa praticar com o bastão)
(Si Fu watches me playing with the Gwaan)

See my story with my knee for example: How many times I could not really practice Luk Dim Bun Gwaan because my knee ached and how often I unwittingly used it not to go through the discomfort of practice to understand the stance?
The average practitioner of Ving Tsun has some opponents to win depending on the stage of life or the moment they are living: parents, girlfriend (boyfriend), wife (husband), preparation for college entrance exams, college, lack of time, lack of money, etc ... what many who go trough these challenges  forget, is that even those who climbed their way through adversity also passed and still pass through these and other problems that no one imagine. But the main one is: We are always looking for excuses to give up.

At various times when I was in the Domain Mui Fa Jong, Si Fu spoke I was kind of "Kamikaze". When I was not understanding how to do something using Kung Fu, I just threw me and If I was hit that was all right, but I would threw myself on someone anyway. This in Kung fu world is stupid. In the photo above, Si Gung moments before asked me how was my knee to make the "Jing Choei", I said " I dont mind ! Iwanted to do it Si Gung!" The result was that I was unable to normally walk the rest of the weekend.
Know ourselves to respecting us is also important.

With Si Fu (photo), I learned not to despair when things go wrong. This does not mean that I do not despair at times, but he told me that it is our ability to manage situations that change, but we'll keep going through them.
I designed a very big fantasy with stories of Chan Yu Ming and his nicknames derived from the practice of Luk Dim Bun Gwaan. And my bad knee, fit like a glove to serve me as an excuse not to practice even when I could, or to confuse me when I should not force me to practice. But instead had tried to know me better, rather than excuses, I would have more Kung Fu to deal with myself.

And therein lies the importance of lifelong relationship within the Kung Fu formally initiated after the Baai Si Ceremony: The idea that we have a lifetime to work our Kung Fu and our limitations ... without "getting sick" ... With no excuses. ..

Você não deveria desistir do Ving Tsun[You should not quit Ving Tsun]

This photo was taken at my surprise birthday party at Mo Gun in October 2010. It was a rainy night of Tuesday Si Fu, Si Suk Ursula and many important Kung Fu brothers were there. Despite all that apparatus it was not being an easy time for me. In fact, it is common to hear: "Yeah... Today was a hard day!" - In my case it was more than a day. The year was being a little more than difficult ... I would say, verging on the unbearable.
At such times, each person will react differently. See, what makes someone writhe in pain, may be just a speck in someone else's eye. But one thing we usually have in common: Put it on fate or life, or whatever in it is ... But we can not see ourselves as part of the problem that affects us ....
Another curious fact is that when we are experiencing a difficult time, it becomes very easy to undo and do not believe anymore in our full potential. And when someone reminds us of what we are capable or that is not the end ... We smile to that person, but deep down, we do not believe a word he told us ...
On the night of my birthday in 2010, I heard the following words of Si Suk Ursula, my Gaai Siu Yan of Baai Si:

Você não deveria desistir do Ving Tsun
You should not quit Ving Tsun

Stallone started in "Rocky"(1976) a trend that was the training scenes with a hard rock music in the background. Were martial arts movies or any film in which the protagonist decides he will overcome an obstacle, The music starts to play, and we see the character wandering exercise, having trouble running it, but over the music, he will get better and better and in three minutes or less he is ready ...
But life is not like that ...

In April 2011, I coordinated the first session of Ving Tsun (photo) in the room that was to become the MYVT Meier School. With only a white board its and support, some chairs, and an office desk of a brother Kung Fu, and a lot of willpower, there began a new moment. But did not play a song for me ... This passage of time did not last three minutes ... No ...
I learned that we need to go through some things to grow and realized how lucky I was to have a Si Fu and Si Suk next to me in those moments, because everything they told me was beginning to make sense at last. Because stepping there in that room, even I could not believe I could be there ... But I was, That was real.

When we have a problem, we also have a tendency to turn to inside of us and we close with this, we also closed to new possibilities we left it. We prefer the company of those who say "I know how you feel," than, "Well? What do you think you can to do?" ...
Every time I enter the Mo Gun of Meier (photo) and I have a problem, I remember that Si Fu told me once, "Pereira, if you have a fever I can even help you, but you understand that if I touch my arm in yours, I will not feel the fever in your place? There are pains that are only ours, and I can even support you, but I will not be able to feel it in your place. You will have to learn to deal with it ... " - Si Fu paused and continued, "You know, sometimes we forget that we are born alone and we make alliances throughout life that will bring us benefits, but deep Pereira, we will always be alone, to deal with our own issues. .. "

I think a person should not stop the practice of Ving Tsun when things get complicated. I think this person should make use of it to find the solution. However, if the Kung Fu is in Mo Gun and the problem is lack of time, how do I get time to go? If the problem is money, how to pay? If the problem is emotional, how to find the strength to get there?
Well, of all martial arts cliches, I can say that none is more certain than "You are your greatest enemy." - No one will sabotage you as much as yourself. And that includes your practice. Your first five thoughts are all good excuses to support your decision to quit. Be the Ving Tsun or whatever ... I know because I have also thought that. But the'only difference is that when you sit in front of your Si Fu to announce that due to a "problem" you need to get away. You can be sure: He will respect you but he will not be your accomplice. He will respect you, because he knows that from the heart, you believe in justification that you are giving to your remoteness. But he will not be your accomplice because in his deep heart, he will know for sure that you have not explored all the possibilities ...
Eu nunca consegui parar...

On the night of my Master Degree (photo) when Si Fu direct the word to me, Si Fu was moved to say something like: "... Only we know what we faced Thiago ..." - I do not know which episode Si Fu meant, or whether he was talking about all at once. But I can assure that there were numerous "Thiagos", including the 2010's one, which boycotted me in every way that I did not live a night like this. And I chose to be the Thiago who reached there. And I do not accept to say "I was lucky to choose." No! It was not luck. It was believe in the man standing in front of me and everything he taught me about the fight ... And as I can not "kill" this opponent that is myself, I can only keep fighting. And amid this endless fight, my greatest pride is to have never stopped my practice of Ving Tsun ... Though I have strived a lot to it ... I could never stop ...

I will not tell you to "Throw away all my advices and use sunscreen" ... I say to you do not stop ... because how can you learn to fight from far away? And why alone if you have the Kung Fu Family behind you?
You should not quit Ving Tsun...
