Heart of Disciple: The Journey of the 3rd Discipleship Ceremony of Moy Lin Mah Family

Master Yoda, Master Splinter, Elder Master, Master Genkai, Dungeon Master, many fantasy masters and their disciples and pupils, have populated my childhood and are still present in my imagination.

However, if I was asked five years ago about being able to live with and learn from a true kung fu master and become her disciple, I would probably say that it was impossible for such a thing to happen to me.

September 21st, 2019 that changed. Fernanda Lima, Heitor Furtado (it’s me) and Vitor Barros held the 3rd Moy Lin Mah family discipleship ceremony and became respectively
Moy Fong Laan Dak (The Power of an Orchid in the Wind), Moy Hoi Tok Yi (The Confidence of an Ocean), and Moy Wai Hak Do (The Abundant when Overcoming another Dimension), Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Disciples of Master Ursula Lima ( Moy Lin Mah), my Si Fu.

The ceremony, which was attended by the illustrious presence of my Si Gung, Grand Master Leo Imamura (Moy Yat Sang), Master Julio Camacho (Moy Jo Lei Ou), who made the ceremonial opening, Master Ricardo Queiroz (Moy Ke Lo Si), Master Felipe Soares (Moy Fei Lap) and Master Thiago Pereira (Moy Fat Lei), besides friends and dear relatives, was the manifestation of a process started in late 2018 with an invitation from Si Fu to talk about the relationship between Master and disciple in her house.

It was a very pleasant and memorable afternoon where Si Fu shared some of her stories from her kung fu journey and we could hear testimonials from Si Fu's first four disciples about their experiences as dai ji.

A few months passed before we started the first pre-event talks. I invited as my formal presenter during the ceremony, my Si Suk, Master Felipe Soares, Moy Fei Lap family leader (MYVT Freguesia), Vitor invited our Si Hing, Master Thiago Pereira, Moy Fat Lei family leader (MYVT Méier) and Fernanda, invited our Si Baak, Master Ricardo Queiroz, leader of the Moy Ke Lo Si family ( MYVT Downtown). We had the honor and happiness of having our invitations accepted by them and we continued the process that led us to the formal Invitation, our Dak Jiu, when we expressed our desire to become disciples of Master Ursula Lima. Each of us was able to experience a very special moment. In my case, my wife Livia Furtado and I welcomed Moy Lin Mah Family leaders (Ms. Ursula Lima and her husband Ricardo Lopes -  MYVT Copacabana), Moy Fei Lap Family leader and our dear Si Jeh Helena for a lunch, at our house. Their presence filled with joy and good energy that very special afternoon.

After we three made our respective Dak Jiu, we focused on coordinating the preparations for the ceremony, which would be combined with our Si Gung Leo Imamura's official visit to Moy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence's Copacabana unit and celebration of our Si Fu's birthday.
We searched for a variety of locations as alternatives until we reached the Windsor California Hotel in Copacabana, and then, inspired by the famous film productions of the Moy Fat Lei Imagination Team, I thought of an art for the invitation to express and honor the importance and symbolism of the event that it had everything to be epic, and it was.

In the meantime, while taking part in organizing the event with my kung fu family, I received a special mission from Si Fu, almost a sidequest like those that if you don't complete, beating the stage boss is not the same thing: the creation and production of “ Exclusive pin for the Moy Lin Mah family disciples ”. The opportunity to participate in this process of creation with Si Fu, who had the vision to follow the tradition of the Great Clan Moy Yat Sang and deliver a symbol of disciple status, which should always be used in conjunction with the Great Clan pin. It was a great satisfaction and honor for me, and an inspiration for all of us.

Essas palavras me marcaram e consegui estar muito presente durante a cerimônia, me apropriando e vivendo o momento.

I remember Si Fu's words saying that during the three reverences we would make during the ceremony, we should do them calmly, without haste, take our time, to avoid bumping our heads hard on the floor (laughs). These words marked me and I was able to be very present during the ceremony, appropriating and living the moment. The sense of warmth and respect I felt as I listened to the words of Master Felipe Soares, as I poured tea for Si Fu and Si Gung, when I bowed, or received my name kung Fu, did not fit into words, and It was thus, without words, that I made my first speech, deeply moved, to the guests, including my father, mother, sister, niece, my cousin and Si Jeh Angela Carvalho (Moy On Gaak Lai, fourth disciple of Si Fu) and my wife and I could see these worlds of my life converge, even for a moment.

Minha família, Si Fu e Si Gung após a cerimônia
My family Si Fu and Si Gung after the ceremony

Emotions overflowed that night, as they did during the first discipleship ceremony of the Moy Lin Mah family, when Si Hing Rodolpho Alcantara (Moy Gaap Mah), Si Jeh Helena Carneiro (Moy Gaap Lin) and Si Hing André Villareal (Moy Yuet Mah) became disciples at the end of 2015. Vitor and my Si jeh Fernanda were moved and moved us during their Baai Si moments.
I make a special note of the performance of my esteemed Si Hing André Villareal by the way he conducted the ceremony and later the celebration of Si Fu's birthday.
During the birthday, Si Fu was honored by her brothers and her kung fu family, friends and family. We had the opportunity to do some musical performances, which are becoming a hallmark of our ceremonies and celebrations, and many, many stories emerged from the deep, transformative and rich experience that culminated that night.
We had some delicate times, of course, things don't always go as planned, but we used our kung fu to move on as best we could and go on together. The post-event I think is curious. We had our post-event, we raised points of improvement, points that we did things right, but the responsibility and commitment we made that night created a special post-event that is for life.

Heitor Furtado,

Now, following a Kung Fu Master as formidable and real as mine, I carry in my heart of disciple a confidence as big and deep as an ocean and I end this text by thanking Si Hing Thiago Pereira for the opportunity. Many thanks to my Si fu and my kung fu and
consanguine families. In the wise words of Si Baak Julio Camacho “Let us go together!”

BEING A SI FU WITH EIGHT DISCIPLES. (Sendo Si Fu com 8 discípulos)

(Registro com Si Fu e meus três primeiros discípulos)
(Photo with Si Fu and my first three disciples)

The Moy Fat Lei Family opened in March 2016, but we took for its actual beginning, on April 9 of that same year, when the First Ceremonial Act of this Family took place, in the building of my Kung Fu Brother Rodrigo Moreira.
Just over a year later, on November 4, 2017, the 1st Discipleship Ceremony (Baai Si) was held.
On "Baai Si," Si Gung wrote: "For Patriarch Moy Yat, the discipleship ceremony is a two-way path. It is not only defined by a person's desire to become a disciple of a Si Fu, but mainly by the the desire of him to make this person his disciple.

So both parties have a lot of responsibility to honor the ancestors. The part of the si fu is the most difficult because he needs to know how to lead the disciple to develop his kung fu through appropriate actions for each moment "
(With Si Fu and Si Hing at the very moment of our Master´s Degree Qualification)

Prefiro fazer as coisas sozinho." -  Comentei.

From this text of Si Gung, I am very touched by the excerpt: "... The part of the si fu is the most difficult, because he needs to know how to take the disciple to develop his kung fu ..." - I say this, because I know that my Si Fu was not joking when he made this invitation to me in 2007, operating a real miracle with my personal development. He would say laughing once commenting on the work I gave at the beginning to him: "... Look, if there is a heaven, I will go there when I die, you see?"
When I felt that the invitation should be realized, I knew that I could not give myself less than Si Fu did and does for me.
Sitting before him on August 29, 2015 (photo) at the time of my Master´s Degree Qualification with my Si hing, I felt somehow, a path traced that I should only follow from there on. If I was nervous? Yes, I was. After all, I once said to Si Fu that I preferred to do things by mymelf: "I'm not a group person." - I said to him. And he replied, "If you are not a 'group person', you can never be a Si Fu."

When I gave the first "Kung Fu Names" of my Kung Fu Family (PHOTO), I felt a different weight. I remember when I was anxious to discover mine, and how incredible was Si Fu's reasoning in studying each of the names of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family. But when you are the own to choose and give it, it changes everything completely!
(Preparando os primeiros "Nomes Kung Fu" de minha Família com Si Fu)
(Preparing the first "Kung Fu Names" of my Family with Si Fu)

Si Fu once asked me what name I would give to a future child. Without thinking much, I answered, "Daniel." Si Fu asked the reason and I said it was because of the main character of "Karate Kid" movie from 1984. He asked me to think about what I would name a child, referring to a film from more than 30 years ago. "Do you realize that this name will not represent any of this for your child's generation?" - I laughed. He then commented on a process called in "Father's Name" from Psychology. That would be something corresponding to the fact that when a father gives a name to his son, he is usually loaded with the expectation of his own father in relation to the child.
(rehearsal for live broadcasts in 2017 with the first 3 disciples)

Si Fu often says that we must be careful about the signature we print and the message it gives to others. Even when we are not consciously transmitting anything, we are sending information. - "And that ends up coming out of the person" .- He says. But it's not just bad things that "comes out", it's cool things too! And I think that in the case of the lifetime members from that first Ceremony, the most striking aspect for me at that time was loyalty.

Of this, Si Gung once wrote: "... Patriarch Moy Yat said that 'a good dai ji must first of all respect his si fu, take care of him and learn the art well. Thus he can help him develop the system and make the family prosper '... ".
(Dedicatória de Si Fu para mim)
(Si Fu Dedication for me)

Si Fu's dedication to my personal development was unstoppable, for even at times when I myself was unwilling to move on, he would pull me with him. This is his almost always unconditional support.
(Cayo Cesar e Jaqueline Tergolina)
(The disciples Cayo and Jaqueline)

So I learned this dedication from Si Fu. By the time we ran out of Mo Gun in 2018, it was actually possible for me to get some air. It was a very challenging time, and there it was possible to take a breath just to dive again. And it was at that time, while we were practicing at the home of already disciple Jaqueline Tergolina, that new leaders began to spring up and future disciples as well.
(Os discípulos Luiz e Caroline)
(The disciples Luiz and Caroline)

I soon realized the big difference between being a Mo Gun's "Daai Si hing" and being the Family Leader of that place. I saw myself as Meier's "Daai Si hing", as someone "hardworking" that people supported and bought challenges together for that support. As a Si Fu, it is completely different: It is a distinctive relationship in every respect from anyone present in our society. Perhaps it comes only to that of father and son.
(With the disciples Keith and Filipe in one of the Filipe's rock concerts)

I began to notice around me a very special feeling from the people around me. These we call "To Dai", which I certainly would not have a context to relate to outside the Martial Circle.
Gradually, I understood the boundless determination of Si Fu. You simply find yourself between your commitment to your Si Fu and your duty to honor, the trust your disciples place in you.

Then there was a second Discipleship Ceremony in My Family (PHOTO), in which four people formalized their status, totaling seven lifetime members.

Finally, half a year later, it was Matheus Alves' turn (photo above ) to become the eighth lifetime member of the Moy Fat Lei Family. And indeed, it's a very special group! I would have made all these invitations again.
About this process of accepting disciples, Si Gung wrote: "... On the other hand, a good si fu should not only accept disciples and enjoy his master's life and expect care to be taken.

He should behave as best si fu as he can for his dai ji. A good si fu must strive to learn more and to provide his dai ji with a rich experience at every stage of his journey ... "
(Moment when I received the Jiu Paai of my Family and the authorization to start it)

E assim, vamos seguindo.

Often my biggest challenge as a disciple was to trust. Today, like Si Fu, it might be making me trustworthy. And it's very interesting to think about how daily it becomes necessary to deal with my limitations, my fears, and all the rest. Not necessarily for me, but because the people who decided to perform this ceremony and all the others to come. They cannot be victims of my personal limitations.
But it was also from Si Fu that I learned that one's vocation is far greater than any fear. And so, let's go.

THE TWO NEW DISCIPLES OF MOY KE LO SI FAMILY

(Foto oficial da Cerimônia de Baai Si da Família Moy Ke Lo Si)
(Official photo of Moy Ke Lo Si Family´s Baai Si Ceremony)

As portas abertas prestes a fechar a qualquer momento. Aguardava minha To Dai Christiana.

The subway train that connected the Ocean Garden Station to the Cinelandia station was standing in front of me. The doors open about to close at any moment. My dear black suitcase I carried in Europe was there with me too. I waited for my To Dai Christiana. She had taken us in her car out of the Meier neighborhood. We were on time for my appointment: I had been honored to be invited to the Third Moy Ke Lo Si Family Discipleship Ceremony. I looked at the top of the stairs and no sign of Chris. She had been left behind when I stepped up. As She had not remembered the subway ticket, I passed and she stayed to buy hers. At that moment, I remembered the legendary adventure on the Barcelona trains with Si Fu and Claudio. Now there I was, on the other side of the story. I thought for half a second to go and leave Chris if the train left, but I thought it would be an over-expected experience for the Siu Nim Tau Domain. At that moment, I watched as Chris started down the stairs, and I reflected that I should adjust the experience to her moment in the Ving Tsun System. So, leaning against the wall of one of the carriages, we made a brief post-event of what had happened so far, and prepared for what would follow.
(With my To Dai Chris Chagas, at night in meeting event on the same day)

Estava atrasado , e decidido a chegar o quanto antes.

When we got off at the Cinelandia station, Chris was already able to follow me closer, and we walked steadily to the venue. We were late, and I was determined to get there as soon as possible.
(Thats me watching the Ke Lo Si Family Leaders doing the Ceremonial Procedures)

When we finally arrived, I realized that Si Suk Queiroz had delayed the start of the Ceremony in a few minutes because of my delay. And since they were all ready, the ceremonial procedures quickly began.
In fact, there is no form of an "Honorable Witness" formally speaking, according to our organization's procedures. But I noticed that there was a chair reserved for me, next to the "Sam Toi" (ancestral table).
A Si Fu usually says that his greatest asset is the Kung Fu Family, and about to sit there. After all the rushing to arrive, I tried to organize myself internally, to contribute dignity with to honor the position that was offered to me.

(Marcelo Azevedo, the first to perform Baai Si that morning. He watches his Si Fu drinking the tea he offered, along with his Kung Fu brother Eduardo Esteves)

Dudu, Lamarão, Jorge, and so many other "Kung Fu Cousins" I like so much were there too. As always, they brought through their words, all the affection they have for each other. Moreover, these honest words demonstrate the close relationship that they hold with each other. Something really inspiring.
Azevedo, the first to offer tea to Si Suk Queiroz, remembered to thank not only his Si Fu for the opportunity, but also his Si Mo. The figure of his wife, who was present, was also remembered as a great incentive of his process.
Thus, the importance of these figures is recorded.

My dear Si Suk Mo Flavia Bambrilla, who is the wife of Si Suk Queiroz and Si Mo of the Moy Ke Lo Si Family. Watches carefully at the moment when Azevedo hands over the "Hung Baau" to his Si Fu, in thanksgiving for his tea.
A "Si Mo" does not necessarily need to be a practitioner to be respected. And, roughly in the case of our partners, as the wife of Azevedo. She would not need to either openly encourage or support her husband's trajectory.
François Jullien, in his book "Figures of Immanence" (Figures de L'immanence - Pour une lecture philosophique du Yi King, 1993), says: "... It is proper for a thought concerned with transcendence to seek to explore the other (that is to say, that in which the other is truly another and can be constituted in exteriority.) In contrast with this opening to the beyond, it is proper for a thought of immanence to seek to value, and to operate, all that exists of the same in the other and that allows its correlation ... "

At the "Baai Si" ceremony, the tea should also be offered to Si Mo if there is one, or the husband of a Si Fu. In case this figure is a woman. In the photo above, we see the moment that after offering tea to his Si Fu, Leo Macedo, flanked by his Kung Fu brother, the gentle Jorge Rocha. Watches his Si Mo drinking tea.
This act on the part of the leaders of a Kung Fu Family, symbolically explicit, the commitment assumed with the new disciple from then on, for the rest of life and beyond.
It may seem strange to understand this process at first if you are not from a Kung Fu Family. And because, in the face of a thought that is external to both our conceptual habits and our most common metaphysical actions, we need an assimilation by the acquisition of a custom that goes beyond mere understanding. (Jullien, François, 1997). Thus, it is clear the importance of the "Familiar" process to favor the favorable as "Kung Fu Life" as a means of access to the Ving Tsun System.

After the Ceremony, we went with Moy Ke Lo Si Family to a hotel for lunch. All in a very pleasant atmosphere. It even caught my attention when Si Suk Queiroz calmed Leo and his wife, asking them to let the children make noises throughout the Ceremony. He said that was great.
Me and Chris were just beginning our adventure ... "Chapter 1" had been breakfast at Méier and the race to get there in time. The "Chapter 2" was Ceremony of "Baai Si" ... And even before it ended, a new adventure began on the subway to the Copacabana School ... But this is a story for another day ...
Devido a excelência profissional destas duas pessoas. Sorte aos dois!

I would like to say that next Saturday we will have the titling of Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz to the "Senior Master" Class of MOy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence
. Together with him, at the same Ceremony, Master. Ursula Lima, also my Si Suk, will also be titled.
These are two very special titles for the Ving Tsun of Rio de Janeiro, not only for the Moy Yat Lineage, but as a whole. Due to the professional excellence of these two people. Luck to them!

TEN YEARS OF THE "BAAI SI" CEREMONY OF MOY FAT LEI

(My Baai Si Ceremony in 2007 watched by Si Mo, Si Fu and Si Suk Ursula)

The "Baai Si" is a very common ceremonial inside "Mo Lam", but restricted to the few that are invited and among these, those who manage to reach the Ceremony.
This month was completed ten years in which my Baai Si was held. Exactly on next May 26  I will be with Si Fu in my first international trip with  for a tour in Europe with practices and lectures . This will be a very special moment, to exceed my limits once again to  make this trip. And with my Baai Si , it was no different ...
(Porta do salão)

According to my Si Gung, Si Taai Gung Moy Yat said that "a good Dai Ji must first of all respect his Si Fu, take care of him and learn the art well. So he can help him to develop the system and make the family prosper. "
I received my invitation to "Baai Si" in March 2007, and in those days I was told that it was appropriate to wear a new outfit on the day of the Ceremony in order to bring the symbol of "renovotion". As I always did, I took literally, and with an effort of my mother, I bought a gray suit with a blue blouse and a light blue tie. I decided it would be good to shave my head too, because I wanted people to look at me and think:  "Hey, this guy took it seriously!" But look: A great lesson had gone unnoticed by me in May 2007 ...

(Após entregar o Hung Baau do Si Fu)
(After giving the Hung Baau to Si Fu)

Few people know, but at that Ceremony, should not only be: I, Vladimir Anchieta, Xenia D'avila, Paula Gama and Thiago Silva. Another Kung Fu brother had been invited but suddenly disappeared. He was very dear to me and very dear to Si Fu too. Si Fu entrusted me with a mission: "Thiago, find him and talk to him. See what's happening, and if you think it's valid say that if he shows up at the time of the Ceremony, he can do Baai Si. Until the last hour. " - You could see that Si Fu really wanted my Si Dai to do Baai Si, but there is an ethical core in Mo Lam that is the relation "Si Fu - To Dai" and a Si Fu can not break that ethic. He can not be "less Si Fu" of someone he does not like or "More Si Fu" of someone he enjoy. So he asked me, even though I knew , that he would be better able to do it than I was.
It took me a week to find this Si Dai. Even leaving a handwritten letter with his mother he did not look for me. Finally on Sunday the 20th I met him at his work. We sat down and he could finally tell me everything he was feeling. It was very hard for me to hear those words but I recorded them accurately and transmitted them to Si Fu. And this Si Dai was never seen in Mo Lam again ...

(In 2003, I was a very annoying guy, but Si Fu knew how to make me laugh)

I did not understand that "renovating" or "changing" was more than the clothes I was wearing or the hair I shaved. It was a preparation to change internally. I, who have always liked Si Fu so much, have gone deep into the "Baai Si" process and went beyond my limits to do so. With that, I did not have time to enjoy that path. And many of the changes I had to go through came after Baai Si. But as my "Gaai Siu Yan" Si Suk Ursula Lima would say in the mid-2000s to me: "I do not change my story for anyone."
Maybe my Kung Fu
brother just was not ready to change, but we'll never know until one day he comes back.
(Si Fu supporting my early work in Méier wild neighborhood . We started in house´s kitchen)

In a lecture on "Baai Si" in 1997, Patriarch Moy Yat stated that in his student days, he looked after his Si Fu, the Patriarch Ip Man as well as his own children. Whatever his master asked, he did his best to succeed. If there was anything he could not do, he was looking for a friend or someone who knew how to do it. Even if he did not know, he could find a way. He never came to his Si Fu and said "sorry, but I do not know how to do it".
I have not been able to be that way in ten years, I left many holes with my Si Fu. But so many others I did not leave. One of them, in particular, came from a day when I complained to him about something that had affected me. It was as if I was blaming him. After an conversation, Si Fu said seriously, "I will not be the weak link in the chain." - By referring to our lineage.
Therefore, ahead of the Méier School, which until this year was the only School of the Twelfth Generation of the World of the Great Clan Moy Yat Sang, I did not allow myself to lose focus. It was not just about me, it was about the work of a man's life. Si Fu never asked me to think that way, but I took ownership of that responsibility and I'm glad I did.

(Si Taai, Si Fu and Si gung during a grand-openning of one of his formers Mo Gun)

On this, my Si Gung Leo Imamura would have said: "Therefore, both parties have a lot of responsibility to honor the ancestors. Si Fu's part is the most difficult, because he needs to know how to lead the student to develop his kung fu , By means of appropriate actions for each moment. We call this Kung Fu Life (sam faat) For the disciple not only have to respect the Si Fu, but to devote himself to understanding the "Kung Fu Perspective." Subsequently, dai ji Can help the Si Fu to preserve and develop the system (hai tung) and develop it. With this, the kung fu family can grow in a sustainable way and the system can be passed on to the right people. "

(With my beloved sis Paula Gama and my beloved brother Vlad Anchieta , before our Baai Si)

In those ten years, I did not content myself to be just a guy who did the "Baai Si" and disappeared or even stayed, but only recorded.   I didnt try to be "Number 1". Being the disciple number 2 for me was perfect: I had the antiquity necessary to mobilize people and did not need to appear because my Si Hing is older than me. So, sometimes in a well-made way, and in many others, clumsy, lol, I always tried to give my best for Si Fu. Although many times I questioned his actions, I never stopped following him. I always imagined that he would surprise me in the end, and when that did not happen, I just remembered how much I liked him and moved on.

(Here I took in 2011 hidden from Si Fu , Jade and Julia tot he McDonald´s before let them at their former home. Laurien Jabour, daughter of a Si Dai, was there too.)

When Jade began to practice under my care at the Meier School, it was a great honor. I once asked an innocent question to Si Fu: "Si Fu, I am Si Hing of Jade, but she is also your daughter. If we go out to eat, will I pay for her, or do I let her pay my bill?
I was told once that a good disciple learns from Si Fu even when he did not intend to transmit anything. I remember Si Fu every hour of the day, that's because, I know his "brain" is available for me to use besides mine, although I do not always do it ..lol  But see, even though I'm with Jade And  Julia I learn: Sometimes, in the midst of the pleasure of being with them, a great sadness came to my heart when I remembered my own sister and her condition. And that, to this day, still makes me resignify this relationship.
(Foto dos primeiros discípulos do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou)
(Photo of the first disciples of Moy Jo Lei Ou Clan)

Sometimes Si Fu asks me or someone if we can say what really changes when the person becomes a disciple. We are silent for him to complete his reasoning. But I never felt the same since that day ten years ago. I went from there to believe that there would always be someone I could trust and that even if the world collapsed in my head, as it actually collapsed a few times, he would still be there. And so that I could use this relationship without weight in the conscience, I always tried not to measure efforts, whenever the media, took a step fearful behind. And Si Fu has been patient, and still has been, so that I develop sometimes in my time, sometimes at the time the Family needs.

Ten years later, and the feeling of going deeper and deeper is still the same. The feeling for Si Fu too. So I do think this is the reason why I've ever walked away. Neither physically nor from the heart.

The New Disciples of Moy Jo lei Ou Clan Ou (Os Novos Discípulos do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou)

Hey, you must be thinking, "Why is this Baai Si thing so important to this Clan?" - Well, I do not know what that means to everyone, but I can tell you what it means to me ... Who knows ...
Different from its original concept, the Baa Si Ceremony in I was  a participant  (photo) in May 2007. It was for me the crowning of a relationship with a person who is not my blood, not even my Family, but that I sdecided to follow. For me it was a big pride for several reasons, get there. But what I did not know, is that was the first major landmark within a journey that was just beginning ...
Everything I've lived, everything I smiled, everything I've gone through, everything I've become from then on, has somehow to do with Si Fu. Not for magic, not for fate ... Simply because he is always there, and I decide to be also every time ...
That night, I was just the second guy that decided to follow him. However, last Saturday, four other guys did the same. .. And it was as exciting as ...

Os Novos Discípulos do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou
The New Disciples of Moy Jo lei Ou  Clan Ou

"Membro do Clã!"

Iuri, the twenty-ninth disciple to do Baai Si that night, is a resident of Jacarepaguá neighborhood. In fact, I never understood very well why he decided to be a member of the  Méier School, if he lives in Jacarepaguá. But this is now past. Iuri has developed a very valuable relationship with Si Fu, who makes him someone in transit in bothschools of  our Clan . To the point of not being clearer, where he is a member. "Member of the Clan!" - That's more important!
Iuri then introduced me to a mysterious concept called "Figure and Background", and from there, when I have the opportunity, I present some cases, hypothetical or not, to Iuri, who is a psychologist and I ask what the diagnosis is.
From this funny relationship, I was invited to be his introducer at the Baai Si Ceremony. I was very happy to be there with him. Iuri is a great guy, you will still hear about him!

The twenty-eighth new disciple that night to offer tea to Si Fu was Pedro Correa (photo) that was presented by Master. Ursula Lima (photo). I do not remember exactly when I first met Pedro, I remember only our first conversation. He told of a blow-up in which he got into a nightclub with his friend. A few years later, I took the risk of going out one night to play pool with Pedro. Nothing happened! We were safe.
For many times, Si Fu asked to check with Pedro, about the possibility of him doing Baai Si at the next Ceremony, but that never happened. In fact, it did not matter much the time that passed. Pedro, kept the tuning, to the point of preparing to do it in the right time. And it was in a way, a feeling of victory for all of us, to see him up there.

Roberto Viana (photo) was the twenty-seventh new disciple that night. He needed to move away from the Kung Fu Family in the year I made my Baai Si. But Roberto, even from a distance, always seemed to have a thin invisible line that connected his heart to Si Fu's.
Perhaps that was why, unlike his first passage, the mishaps of his day-to-day that seem to be greater, now that he is also a father, do not affect him so much and he was able to move on with what his heart commanded and finally he was there. Before Si Fu to offer the tea.

I had the pleasure of introducing him to this Ceremony. Now, we are brothers forever!

About the twenty-sixth Disciple of the Clan Moy Jo Lei Ou, and now the Daai Si hing of our Clan, who attends as Cledimilson Coutinho(photo). About him, I'm not going to write anything. Because this photo talks a lot about him and his journey already. This photo also speaks a little of the journey of all of us. And maybe, this photo speaks, what a Baai Si means.
