O mundo de certa forma desacelerou, e coisas simples como sair de casa, já não nos são mais possíveis como antes(Ao menos da forma que acreditávamos costumar ser). E nesse processo de quarentena, tenho vivido no Mo Gun(FOTO).
Para um entusiasta como eu, é como viver aquele sonho de criança: "Imagina se me esquecessem preso dentro de uma loja de brinquedos, fechassem e eu pudesse passar a noite brincando com tudo que quisesse?" - Você já imaginou isso? Eu já.
Tenho aproveitado meu momento de uma forma muito especial, e graças a diminuição dos afazeres, eu tenho muito mais tempo para produzir. De fato, não consigo lembrar de outro momento em que produzi tanto material. A capacidade de pesquisar, de saber os livros certos, fotos adequadas e ter uma série de registros de Vida Kung Fu vivas em minha mente depois de anos escrevendo nessa página. Estão sendo de extrema importância para produzir muito conteúdo em pouco tempo, para os encontros remotos com meus alunos.
The world has somewhat slowed down, and simple things like leaving home are no longer possible as before (at least in the way we believed it used to be). And in this quarantine process, I have been living at Mo Gun (PHOTO). For an enthusiast like me, it's like living that child's dream: "Imagine if they forgot me trapped inside a toy store, closed and I could spend the night playing with everything I wanted?" - Have you ever imagined that? The ability to research, to know the right books, to take appropriate photos from archives and to have a series of Kung Fu Life records alive in my mind after years of writing on this page. They are being extremely important to produce a lot of content in a short time, for remote meetings with my students.
Em alguns momentos da semana, eu preciso sair para desempenhar a função de biólogo(FOTO). Para estes momentos, tomo os cuidados necessários, preparo minhas músicas favoritas n meu walkman e separo um bom livro para colocar a leitura em dia, enquanto estou esperando o metrô chegar. Afinal, por conta do novo formato de funcionamento dos transportes públicos, entre um trem e outro, tem-se uns vinte minutos de espera.
At certain times of the week, I need to leave as I have to play the role of biologist (PHOTO). Às vezes quando chego numa estação, antes tão movimentada como a Cardeal Arco Verde em Copacabana, e a encontro deserta dessa forma no meio do dia(FOTO) ou na hora do rush, lembro de meu Si Fu. Si Fu costuma dizer que quando existe uma oferta muito grande de alguma coisa, temos a tendência de desvalorizar essa coisa. E pensando bem, acredito que passaremos a dar um valor maior ao simples fato de poder sair de casa.

Basicamente todos os dias no período da noite, temos nossos encontros remotos(FOTO) com temas variados. O fato de estar baseado no Mo Gun, tem sido de grande ajuda para me utilizar do cenário à meu favor e dos demais que estão assistindo esses encontros.
Ficar no Mo Gun também tem sido uma oportunidade para conviver comigo mesmo. Você não me vê chegando em casa e não ligando uma música alta que ocupa todo o espaço. Mas no Mo Gun não se pode agir desta forma. Às vezes vejo um documentário, às vezes ouço música, às vezes leio, enfim, tento aproveitar da melhor forma comigo mesmo.
Basically every day in the evening, we have our remote meetings(PHOTO) with different themes. The fact of being based on Mo Gun, has been of great help to use the scenario in my favor and the others who are watching these meetings. Staying at Mo Gun has also been an opportunity to live with myself. You don't see me coming home and not turning on loud music that takes up all the space. But at Mo Gun, you can't do that. Sometimes I watch a documentary, sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I read, and sometimes, I try to make the best of myself.
Nas noites de Sábado eu costumo tocar violão. Quando toco alguma música do Bon Jovi, lembro da minha vida em 1998, quando descobri a banda através do CD "Crossroads". Naqueles tempos, as artes marciais eram algo que eu estava começando a tomar contato através do Tae Kwon Do e dos filmes do Jackie Chan e outros da Golden Harvest. Mas nunca, em meus sonhos mais fantasiosos, me imaginei durante uma pandemia vivendo numa escola de artes marciais.
On Saturday nights I usually play the guitar. When I play some Bon Jovi music, I remember my life in 1998, when I discovered the band through the CD "Crossroads". In those days, martial arts was something that I was beginning to make contact with through Tae Kwon Do and the Jackie Chan and Golden Harvest films. Naqueles tempos, Si Fu viveu momentos solitários em seu apartamento no Recreio. Ele saiu mais sábio e forte daquele processo. E então lembrando disso, sigo firme para seguir crescendo. Afinal, é a vida do artista marcial: Ter a fibra para lutar.
And finally when I feel very alone, whether at Mo Gun or walking through empty stations and subway cars. I remember Si Fu in 2013. Recentemente Si Fu tomou por decisão, entregar as salas do Núcleo Barra da Tijuca, as quais abrigavam a Casa da Família Kung Fu da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou(da qual ele é Líder). E depois de mais de vinte anos, acompanhei uma série de mudanças de locais e vivi as minhas histórias com Si Fu e a Família Kung Fu em cada uma deles.
Recently Si Fu made the decision leave the rooms of the MYVT Barra School, which housed the Kung Fu Family House of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family (of which he is the Leader). And after more than twenty years, I followed a series of change of rooms in different locations and lived my stories with Si Fu and the Kung Fu Family in each one.
Neste processo de mudança, uma liderança muito especial que tem se apresentado é a discípula de Si Fu chamada Carmen Maris(Foto). Devido a sua dedicação, provavelmente ela ainda será muito citada aqui na página. Carmen está à frente desde a desmontagem da sala até a negociação com os proprietários.
Sobre a minha participação nessa mudança, honestamente não estava reconhecendo uma maneira de participar de maneira mais decisiva. Consultei Si Fu e ele disse algo bem marcante: "É preciso entender que sua participação nem sempre vai envolver você estar no volante do carro." - Si Fu complementou - "É importante humildemente reconhecer, que às vezes você não será a pessoa mais experiente no grupo para um determinado tema". - Si Fu então lembrou-me de quando ao alugar a primeira sala no Méier, eu comemorei a renovação do meu contraro (Muitos risos), algo que ocorre automaticamente. Confesso que quando ouvi esse áudio, por não lembrar dessa passagem, dei uma boa gargalhada.
In this process of preparing the rooms to give it back to the real estate, a very special leadership that has appeared is Si Fu's disciple called Carmen Maris (Photo). My disciple Caroline, who resides at Mo Gun, organized these items the same night they arrived. She tried to insert them into our Mo Gun in a harmonic way, as if they were always there. Além disso, por alguma razão misteriosa, essas cadeiras por terem seu estofado feito pela minha irmã Kung Fu Paula Gama por volta de 2006, me remetem à um dos meus períodos preferidos da minha relação com meu Si Fu. Sendo assim, olhar essas cadeiras ali, me fazem sentir o Si Fu mais próximo também, mesmo estando tão longe nos EUA.
At the ancestral table, for example, we thought it best to place the chairs (Gau Yi) of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family in place of the ones we use in our Mo Gun. So the upholstery will be preserved from dust and moisture. Furthermore, for some mysterious reason, these chairs, having their upholstery made by my Kung Fu Paula Gama sister around 2006, remind me of one of my favorite periods of my relationship with my Si Fu. So, looking at these chairs over there, makes me feel Si Fu more closer, even being so distant in USA.
De todos os itens que vieram para o Mo Gun de minha Família, manipulei deliberadamente a vinda da máquina da Nespresso(Risos). Agora sim, estamos mais preparados para a quarentena(Risos).
Of all the items that came to my family's Mo Gun, I deliberately manipulated the coming of the Nespresso machine (Laughter). Now, we are better prepared for quarantine (Laughter).
O Si Gung fala que um líder precisa aprender a "sentir as coisas no ar". E para quem passa muito tempo dentro de um Mo Gun, ou que tem a oportunidade de morar em um como eu estou tendo(novamente). Sabe que existe uma energia no Mo Gun. E foi muito mágico perceber mais do que uma mudança de energia com a chegada destes itens, mas sim uma espécie de "boost", uma energia somada ou aumentada a que já estava ali. É algo indescritível.
Si Gung says that a leader must learn to "feel things in the air". And for those who spend a lot of time inside a Mo Gun, or who have the opportunity to live in one like I am having (again). You know there's an energy in Mo Gun. E não poderia ser de melhor forma: Não consigo lembrar de um momento no qual diferentes membros interagiram tanto quanto agora e de forma tão positiva. Portanto, de tantas possibilidades que imaginamos para a celebração deste ano, nunca imaginaríamos a sintonia com a qual nos encontraríamos nesse momento... Não é incomum alguém me perguntar: "Ei! E então? Quanto tempo leva-se para se tornar um Mestre?". Essa é uma pergunta que sempre busco responder de uma maneira que ajude a pessoa a refletir sobre sua própria questão. Porém, acredito que mais importante do que se perguntar a respeito do "Quando", é pensar a respeito do "Como".... On one of his trips accompanying Si Gung, Si Fu said that when he was in NY, he expected Si Gung to talk to Si Baak Gung William Moy (photo) in his office. Suddenly Si Gung would have opened the door and said, "Julio, Si Baak wants to give you something." - Si Fu received a frame with the legendary General Guan Yu, Zhang fei and Liu Bei as a gift. Si Fu never told me what was said about the moment recorded in the photo above.
Hoje o Mo Gun da minha Família Moy Fat Lei ostenta esse quadro(FOTO). Isso se deu porque no final de 2016, durante uma Cerimônia Tradicional onde alguns de meus To Dai acessavam o Domínio Cham Kiu. Sem que soubesse, Si Fu me presenteou com esse quadro. E na ocasião ele falou sobre a figura do General Guan Yu representar a "lealdade" na Cultura Chinesa. - "E por isso, eu queria dar a você."
Today my Kung Fu family's Mo Gun has this frame (PHOTO) on one of its walls. This was because at the end of 2016, during a Traditional Ceremony where some of my To Dai accessed the Cham Kiu Domain. Si Fu surprised me giving me this frame. And on that occasion he spoke about the figure of General Guan Yu representing "loyalty" in Chinese culture. - "And because of that, I wanted to give it to you."

Como se tornar um Mestre? Seja leal ao seu Si Fu. É fundamental que você desenvolva o sentimento de lealdade acima de qualquer coisa, e poder renovar esse processo quando você mesmo for autorizado a abrir sua própria Família Kung Fu.
Percebemos então que um dos maiores desafios da trajetória de um praticante de Ving Tsun é o de permanecer junto. Você vê aquele To Dai muito próximo à um Si Fu, que um tempo depois ninguém nunca mais o vê. Não seja esse To Dai.
How to become a Master? Be loyal to your Si Fu. It is essential that you develop a feeling of loyalty above anything, and to be able to renew this process when you are authorized to open your own Kung Fu Family yourself. We realized then that one of the biggest challenges in the trajectory of a Ving Tsun practitioner is to stay together. You see that To Dai very close to a Si Fu, that a while later nobody ever sees him again. Dont be that guy.
Caso você tenha lido até aqui, talvez você esteja se perguntando a razão de falar da minha relação com meu Si Fu num artigo sobre o aniversário da minha Família Kung Fu. Bom, numa realidade alternativa, provavelmente estaria não só ansioso com a incerteza do futuro que foi amplificada nas últimas semanas, mas talvez estivesse investindo meu tempo ficar com medo e espalhá-lo pelas redes sociais.
Como discípulo do meu Si Fu, aprendi por uma via misteriosa, a sentir sinceramente esse sendo um dos melhores momentos da minha Família e da minha carreira. De alguma maneira, isso se expressa pela diferente habilidade de conectar coração com coração, ao ponto de ser capaz de resinificar a minha visão do mundo que me cerca.
If you have read this far, you may be wondering why I was talking about my relationship with my Si Fu on some article about my Kung Fu Family's next birthday . Well, in an alternative reality, I would probably not only be anxious about the uncertainty of the future that has been amplified in recent weeks, but maybe I was investing my time to be scared and spread it on social networks. As a disciple of my Si Fu, I learned in a mysterious way, to sincerely feel this being one of the best moments of my Family and my career. In some way, this is expressed by the different ability to connect heart to heart, to the point of being able to resinify my view of the world around me.

Na época em que esta foto foi tirada, meu Si Fu para mim representava excelência em todos os sentidos. Ele era inteligente, infalível e por que não imbatível? Ele parecia não precisar descansar , estava sempre com a energia no máximo e tratando todos com muito carinho. Quando a concentração dos presentes parecia estar se desligando aos poucos, a dele insinuava que estava apenas começando. Ele parecia uma entidade sempre presente no Mo Gun. Minha admiração não diminuiu, mas hoje conheço seu lado humano bem mais.
E exatamente naquele ano de 2003 , pouco meses depois da foto acima ter sido tirada, me peguei nervoso numa manhã de Sábado para lhe fazer um pedido. E por eu ser um simples praticante, na maioria das vezes um problema para a Família Kung Fu, achei que recusaria o pedido: "Eu queria saber se posso dormir no Mo Gun de hoje pra amanhã e de Domingo para Segunda?"
By the time this photo was taken, my Si Fu for me represented excellence in every way. He was intelligent, infallible and why not unbeatable? He seemed not to need rest, he was always full of energy and treating everyone with great affection. When the presente people seemed to be slowly turning off, his hinting that it was just beginning. He looked like an ever-present Mo Gun entity. My admiration has not diminished, but today I know his human side much more. And exactly in that year 2003, a few months after the photo above was taken, I got nervous on a Saturday morning to ask him. And because I was a simple practitioner, most of times a problematic boy for the Kung Fu Family, I thought he would refuse the request: "I wanted to know if I could sleep in Mo Gun untill tomorrow and Sunday to Monday?"
No primeiro Núcleo dirigido por Si Fu , o Núcleo Tindiba em Jacarepagua, foi onde me matriculei acompanhado de minha mãe. Si Fu nos atendeu e fez todos os procedimentos. Eu estava bem empolgado, e perguntei se podia chegar mais cedo para praticar antes do meu horário. Como se não bastasse, ele comentou sobre o Mo Gun ser considerado a casa do membro da Família Kung Fu, e que em breve, como membro, eu mesmo poderia ter uma chave do local e abri-lo.
Ao sair de lá, minha mãe me proibiu de pegar as chaves- "Imagina se sumir alguma coisa e pensarem que foi você? - Disse ela.
In the first school directed by Si Fu, on Tindiba Road in Jacarepagua, was where I enrolled with my mother. Si Fu did all the procedures. De volta a 2003, Si Fu me autorizou a dormir no Mo Gun. Eu ainda não tinha as chaves , mas ele me emprestou as dele. Expliquei o que pretendia fazer, uma homenagem e precisava de espaço para desenhar, pois usaria os chamados "papéis 40Kg". Ele me explicou o funcionamento do alarme, e sem querer dispará-lo, passei a madrugada toda desenhando confinado na recepção, onde o alarme não chegava. Fazia calor, e quando vi estava só de shorts, quando ouvi alguém abrir a porta no meio da madrugada! Me preparei para um invasor, o coração pareceu vir na boca, e de todos os filmes que assisti até meus 19 anos nada tinha me preparado para aquilo. E morrer com um short curto da Adidas não seria nada legal. Porém, era só o Xavier, ele sim tinh as chaves , e passou com sua bicicleta para descansar e beber água.
Aquilo me tocou, pois para mim que só frequentava o Mo Gun nos horários que tinha minha prática, achei curiosa a ação do Xavier. Ainda que perigosa por ser de madrugada, me espantei com o livre acesso que ele tinha e eu não apesar de termos começado juntos.
Back in 2003, Si Fu allowed me to sleep in the Mo Gun. I still did not have the keys, but he lent me his keys. I explained what I intended to do, a kind of tribute and needed space to draw, because I would use the so-called "40Kg papers". He explained the operation of the alarm, and without wanting to shoot it, I spent the whole dawn drawing in the reception, where the alarm did not get me. Although dangerous for being at dawn, I was amazed at the free access he had and I did not even though we started together.
Os anos se passaram, e em 2007 quando fiz meu Baai Si, Si Gung me presenteou com esse chaveiro da foto acima dizendo: " Guarde para quando tiver o seu Mo Gun". Deixei ele guardado até 2011 quando pude finalmente encaixar as chaves da sala no Méier. Foi um momento bem emocionante. Eu não só já tinha as chaves do Mo Gun do meu Si Fu, mas as chaves do meu próprio Mo Gun.
Como símbolo de gratidão, mais tarde dei de presente essa chave com o chaveiro a uma pessoa que muito me apoiou nessa jornada. Como já era de se esperar, a pessoa entendeu a importância.
The years passed by, and in 2007 when I did my Baai Si, Si Gung presented me with this keyring from the photo above saying "Save for when you have your Mo Gun." I left it guarded until 2011 when I could finally fit the room keys in Méier. It was a very exciting time. I not only already had the Mo Gun keys from my Si Fu, but the keys to my own Mo Gun. As a token of gratitude, I later gave this key with the keyring to a person who supported me on this journey. As expected, the person understood the importance.
Antes de termos a sala do Núcleo Méier, ficamos sem um Mo Gun propriamente dito. Usamos escritórios, terraços das casas dos praticantes e até mesmo as salas de estar de suas casas. Todo esse apoio magnífico ajudou profundamente os primeiros dias do Méier. De todos estes locais, o que mais se consolidou foi a garagem de Felipe Mury (que é o primeiro da esquerda para a direita). Em casos assim, podemos chamar estes locais que não se configuram num "Mo Gun" , podemos chamar de "Wui Gun".
Dentro dos potenciais de um Mo Gun, está o fato de apropriar-se dele como se fosse sua casa, em locais como a garagem do Mury, não poderíamos apropriar-nos de sua casa como se fosse nossa, mas poderíamos tomá-la como ponto de encontro e explorar seus potenciais.
Before we got to the Méier school , we were without a Mo Gun itself. We use offices, terraces of practitioners' homes, and even the living rooms of their homes. All this magnificent support profoundly helped the early days of Méier. Of all these places, the most consolidated was the garage of Felipe Mury (who is the first from left to right). In such cases, we can call these locations that do not fit into a "Mo Gun", we can call "Hui Gun". Within the potentials of a Mo Gun is the fact of appropriating it as if it were one´s home, in places like the Mury's garage, we could not take ownership of his house as if it were ours, but we could take it as a point for meetings and explore your potential.

Outro momento curioso, foi quando trouxe a mesa de vidro do Núcleo Méier desde o Núcleo Copacabana, onde estava guardada, num carro com a documentação vencida. Estava a 24h da primeira visita de Si Gung ao Núcleo Meier. Com apenas quatro membros naquele período, coube a mim pintar a parede da recepção, após ligar dezenas de vezes para Thiago Silva, que já tinha experiência por ter feito o mesmo na Barra. Fiquei radiante quando consegui!
No dia seguinte, Mury me ajudou a instalar a mesa, e tudo deu certo.

Essa proposta de Si Fu foi bem marcante para mim, pois enxerguei em mim por vezes, a tendência a sobrecarregar o layout do Mo Gun. Deixá-lo com uma aparência mais "clean" foi algo bem difícil.
É como quando praticamos "Siu Nim Tau", o primeiro Domínio do Sistema Ving Tsun: Você precisa estar bem atento para não usar nada que não seja necessário para executar determinada ação. Qualquer excesso pode ser prejudicial. Por isso mesmo, Si Fu que é um torcedor do Fluminense, costuma dizer que diferente do futebol, no Ving Tsun, "ganhar" de 10 a 0 não é melhor que "ganhar" de 1 a 0. : "Você precisa ser econômico e resolver com um único movimento". - Diria ele numa tarde de Quinta em 2006.

O uso de objetos foscos na parede de um local pequeno, ajuda ainda mais a trazer uma sensação de confinamento e aperto. Si Fu mais uma vez inovou quando em 2011 desenhou um quadro de vidro. Desta forma, ao invés de ocuparmos espaço com um quadro e um tripé, ou de termos um quadro branco na parede. O quadro de vidro funciona com caneta Pilot normal e quando limpo, se confunde a parede, favorecendo a sensação de amplitude na sala.

Como ele era de frente pra rua , muitas pessoas de passagem paravam para conhecer. Antes de sair, percebendo que eu estava nervoso , ela disse: "Pereira, se tocarem a campainha, você chega daqui, olha quem é. Se você achar que não deve abrir, você tem autorização pra isso. Tudo bem?" - Essa fala me deixou mais tranquilo.
Meses depois, eu dormi pela primeira vez no Mo Gun. Fiquei muito impressionado por Si Fu confiar as chaves a mim.

E também , quando tentei abrir o Mo Gun usando as chaves de casa.
