Recentemente Si Fu tomou por decisão, entregar as salas do Núcleo Barra da Tijuca, as quais abrigavam a Casa da Família Kung Fu da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou(da qual ele é Líder). E depois de mais de vinte anos, acompanhei uma série de mudanças de locais e vivi as minhas histórias com Si Fu e a Família Kung Fu em cada uma deles.

Recently Si Fu made the decision leave the rooms of the MYVT Barra School, which housed the Kung Fu Family House of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family (of which he is the Leader). And after more than twenty years, I followed a series of change of rooms in different locations and lived my stories with Si Fu and the Kung Fu Family in each one.

Neste processo de mudança, uma liderança muito especial que tem se apresentado é a discípula de Si Fu chamada Carmen Maris(Foto). Devido a sua dedicação, provavelmente ela ainda será muito citada aqui na página. Carmen está à frente desde a desmontagem da sala até a negociação com os proprietários.
Sobre a minha participação nessa mudança, honestamente não estava reconhecendo uma maneira de participar de maneira mais decisiva. Consultei Si Fu e ele disse algo bem marcante: "É preciso entender que sua participação nem sempre vai envolver você estar no volante do carro." - Si Fu complementou - "É importante humildemente reconhecer, que às vezes você não será a pessoa mais experiente no grupo para um determinado tema". - Si Fu então lembrou-me de quando ao alugar a primeira sala no Méier, eu comemorei a renovação do meu contraro (Muitos risos), algo que ocorre automaticamente. Confesso que quando ouvi esse áudio, por não lembrar dessa passagem, dei uma boa gargalhada.

In this process of preparing the rooms to give it back to the real estate, a very special leadership that has appeared is Si Fu's disciple called Carmen Maris (Photo). Due to her dedication, she will probably still be mentioned a lot here on the page. Carmen leads the way from dismantling the room to negotiating with the owners(real state).
Regarding my participation in this process, I honestly was not recognizing a way to participate more decisively. I consulted Si Fu and he said something very striking: "You have to understand that your participation will not always involve you being at the wheel of the car." - Si Fu added - "It is important to humbly recognize that sometimes you will not be the most experienced person in the group for a given topic". - Si Fu then reminded me of when renting the first room for MYVT Méier School, I celebrated the renewal of my contract (Laughter), something that happens automatically. I confess that when I heard this audio, for not remembering that passage, I had a good laugh.

Apesar de alguns dos itens do Mo Gun da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou terem ido para a casa de outros discípulos. Para minha alegria, a grande maioria ficará guardada no Mo Gun de minha Família.

Although some of the items from the Mo Gun of the Moy Jo Lei family went to the home of other disciples. To my delight, the vast majority will be kept in my family's Mo Gun.

Minha discípula Caroline, que reside no Mo Gun, organizou esse itens na mesma noite em que eles chegaram. Ela tentou inseri-los em nosso Mo Gun de forma harmônica, como se eles sempre estivessem ali. Foi uma surpresa boa quando cheguei na manhã do dia seguinte, e me deparei com esses itens. Meu outro discípulo, Rodrigo Caputo, ao me visitar na última Sexta disse:"O Mo Gun ficou mais bonito".

My disciple Caroline, who resides at Mo Gun, organized these items the same night they arrived. She tried to insert them into our Mo Gun in a harmonic way, as if they were always there. It was a good surprise when I arrived the next morning, and I came across these items. My other disciple, Rodrigo Caputo, when visiting me last Friday said: "Our Mo Gun is more beautiful".

Cada item da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou que hoje ocupa seu espaço no nosso Mo Gun tem sua própria história, e fico muito feliz de poder fazer com que eles estejam não só guardados, mas tendo seu uso preservado num Mo Gun de uma Família que descende da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou.

Na mesa ancestral por exemplo, achamos por bem colocar as cadeiras (Gau Yi) da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou no lugar das que usamos em nosso Mo Gun. Pois assim o estofado das mesmas será preservado de poeira e umidade.
Além disso, por alguma razão misteriosa, essas cadeiras por terem seu estofado feito pela minha irmã Kung Fu Paula Gama por volta de 2006, me remetem à um dos meus períodos preferidos da minha relação com meu Si Fu. Sendo assim, olhar essas cadeiras ali, me fazem sentir o Si Fu mais próximo também, mesmo estando tão longe nos EUA.

At the ancestral table, for example, we thought it best to place the chairs (Gau Yi) of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family in place of the ones we use in our Mo Gun. So the upholstery will be preserved from dust and moisture.
Furthermore, for some mysterious reason, these chairs, having their upholstery made by my Kung Fu Paula Gama sister  around 2006, remind me of one of my favorite periods of my relationship with my Si Fu. So, looking at these chairs over there, makes me feel Si Fu more closer, even being so distant in USA.

De todos os itens que vieram para o Mo Gun de minha Família, manipulei deliberadamente a vinda da máquina da Nespresso(Risos). Agora sim, estamos mais preparados para a quarentena(Risos).

Of all the items that came to my family's Mo Gun, I deliberately manipulated the coming of the Nespresso machine (Laughter). Now, we are better prepared for quarantine (Laughter).

O Si Gung fala que um líder precisa aprender a "sentir as coisas no ar". E para quem passa muito tempo dentro de um Mo Gun, ou que tem a oportunidade de morar em um como eu estou tendo(novamente). Sabe que existe uma energia no Mo Gun. E foi muito mágico perceber mais do que uma mudança de energia com a chegada destes itens, mas sim uma espécie de "boost", uma energia somada ou aumentada a que já estava ali. É algo indescritível.

Si Gung says that a leader must learn to "feel things in the air". And for those who spend a lot of time inside a Mo Gun, or who have the opportunity to live in one like I am having (again). You know there's an energy in Mo Gun. And it was very magical to perceive more than a change in energy with the arrival of these items, but rather a kind of "boost", an energy added or increased to what was already there. It is indescribable.

How to Decorate a Mo Gun (Como decorar um Mo Gun)

Infelizmente no Brasil, para o grande público em sua maioria , o local no qual se pratica uma arte marcial é um lugar sujo, mal organizado , com um vestiário com cheiro forte de suor. No local de prática é possível encontrar muita coisa pendurada e exposta sem muito critério. E para aqueles da minha idade ou mais velhos, talvez cogite que este local tenha um poster do Bruce Lee na parede , independente da arte marcial ser de origem chinesa ou não....

Unfortunately in Brazil, for the great public at large, the place where a martial art is practiced is a dirty place, poorly organized, with a dressing room with a strong smell of sweat. In the place of practice it is possible to find much things hanging and exposed without much criterion. And for those of my age or older, you might think this place has a Bruce Lee poster on the wall, whether or not the martial art is of Chinese origin ....

Chamamos o local em que uma Família Kung Fu está instalada de "Mo Gun". Consideramos este local, como a casa da Família Kung Fu. E , enquanto uma casa, é importante que saibamos o que expomos nela e mais importante: A forma adequada de apresenta-la.
Por isso, o bom entendimento sobre como decorar , dispor e organizar o que compõe um Mo Gun, é fundamental para que ele traga o potencial necessário para sua prosperidade e desenvolvimento do Kung Fu daqueles que lá frequentam.

We call the location where a Kung Fu Family is installed  as  "Mo Gun". We consider this place as the home of the Kung Fu Family. And, as a home, it is important that we know what we expose in it and most importantly: The proper way of presenting it.
Therefore, the good understanding of how to decorate, arrange, and organize what makes up a Mo Gun is crucial for it to bring the potential needed for its prosperity and Kung Fu development from those who go there.

Como tudo que diz respeito ao Ving Tsun. A decoração do Mo Gun não será também baseada em nossa vontade ou senso de estética. Mas sim, em alguns detalhes que não podem faltar na composição de um local como este. Por isso mesmo, que nas visitas que fiz com Si Fu a cada nova sala que nosso Clã se estabeleceu, sempre ouvia ele perguntar: "Onde pode ficar o Jing Tong?".
"Jing Tong", se entende por "Salão Principal". Quando não se tem espaço para um salão, levantamos uma parede.

Like everything about Ving Tsun. The decoration of the Mo Gun will also not be based on our will or sense of aesthetics. E inclusive para os mais religiosos que frequentarem um Mo Gun, não precisam se preocupar. Pois todos estes símbolos, estão vinculados a um processo "memorial" e não religioso ,
. Este processo porta em si o potencial de trazer aos praticantes do presente, o sentimento de respeito por aqueles que contribuíram com a preservação desse legado para que chegasse até nós.

In "Jing Tong", we display symbols that refer to the ancestry of the art practiced there. Currently, the state of Rio de Janeiro is the only state in Brazil where the number of evangelicals exceeds the number of Catholics. A sugestão que meu Si Fu compartilhou comigo certo momento, foi para que além do Jing Tong. Vislumbrasse o que era de fato essencial para compor a decoração do Mo Gun. Tudo aquilo que não fosse, poderia ser retirado.
Essa proposta de Si Fu foi bem marcante para mim, pois enxerguei em mim por vezes, a tendência a sobrecarregar o layout do Mo Gun. Deixá-lo com uma aparência mais "clean" foi algo bem difícil.
É como quando praticamos "Siu Nim Tau", o primeiro Domínio do Sistema Ving Tsun: Você precisa estar bem atento para não usar nada que não seja necessário para executar determinada ação. Qualquer excesso pode ser prejudicial. Por isso mesmo, Si Fu que é um torcedor do Fluminense, costuma dizer que diferente do futebol, no Ving Tsun, "ganhar" de 10 a 0 não é melhor que "ganhar" de 1 a 0. : "Você precisa ser econômico e resolver com um único movimento". - Diria ele numa tarde de Quinta em 2006.
Na cena abaixo, trecho do filme "Warriors Two" . O personagem de Sammo Hung (Fung Wah) diz para seu melhor amigo Chan Wah Sun, que acabou de entrar para a Família Kung Fu, sobre um dos principais pontos sobre Siu Nim Tau.


The suggestion that my Si Fu shared with me a certain moment, was for that beyond Jing Tong. Glimpsed what was in fact essential to compose the Mo Gun decoration. Anything that was not, could be withdrawn.
This proposal of Si Fu was very striking to me, because I saw in me sometimes the tendency to overload the layout of the Mo Gun. Leaving it with a cleaner look was a tough thing.
It's like when we practice "Siu Nim Tau," the first Ving Tsun System Domain: You have to be careful not to use anything that is not necessary to perform certain action. Any excess can be harmful. That's why Si Fu, who is a soccer fan, says that, unlike soccer, in Ving Tsun, "winning" from 10 to 0 is not better than "winning" from 1 to 0.: "You have to be economical and solve things with a single movement. " - He would say it one Thursday afternoon in 2006.

A Família Kung Fu pode ter papel fundamental em um momento como esse. Da mesma forma que para um Si Fu, não faz muito sentido ele fazer todo o trabalho sozinho. Não é que não possa, mas bem provavelmente ele não deva. Pois espera-se que ele já o tenha feito no Mo Gun de seu próprio Si Fu ou ainda faça. E se em seu próprio Mo Gun ele continua fazendo tudo, o trabalho não está chegando na próxima geração.

The Kung Fu Family can play a key role at a time like this. As for a Si Fu, it does not make much sense for him to do all the work himself. It's not that he can not, but he probably should not. Enquanto o Mo Gun estiver sendo montado ou estiver sob reforma. Alguns praticantes estarão alheios a esse processo. É muito importante que o cenário adequado seja criado, para que a pessoa possa perceber que está se "descolando" do fluxo do Mo Gun. Ainda assim, ela não deve ser obrigada.
Em outros casos, você pode querer aproveitar o momento para se dedicar a trabalhar com alguém em específico, enquanto outro "To Dai" ou "Si Dai" trabalham.
De toda forma, é importante não "travar" o funcionamento do Mo Gun e levar o praticante a perceber o potencial de se desenvolver como ser humano , em qualquer cenário. E não apenas através do "soco e do chute".

Quando você está estabelecido num espaço pequeno, as cores de cada parede e a disposição dos móveis, pode ajudar a criar uma sensação de diferentes ambientes. Foi pensando nisso, que Si Fu pediu que pintassemos uma das paredes de vermelho , de forma a demarcar a recepção do Núcleo Méier.

When you are set up in a small space, the colors of each wall and the arrangement of furniture can help create a sense of different environments. It was thinking about this, that Si Fu asked us to paint one of the walls in red, in order to demarcate the reception of the Meier School.

O uso de objetos foscos na parede de um local pequeno, ajuda ainda mais a trazer uma sensação de confinamento e aperto. Si Fu mais uma vez inovou quando em 2011 desenhou um quadro de vidro. Desta forma, ao invés de ocuparmos espaço com um quadro e um tripé, ou de termos um quadro branco na parede. O quadro de vidro funciona com caneta Pilot normal e quando limpo, se confunde a parede, favorecendo a sensação de amplitude na sala.


The use of frosted objects on the wall of a small place helps further to bring a sense of confinement and tightness. Si Fu once again innovated when in 2011 he designed a glass frame. In this way, instead of occupying space with a  board and a tripod, or of having a white board in the wall. The glass frame works with normal Pilot pen and when clean, it confuses the wall, favoring the feeling of amplitude in the room.

Até a data da inauguração oficial do seu Mo Gun, existe tempo suficiente para prepará-lo adequadamente. De fato, a preparação nunca acaba. A cada dia, a cada mês e a cada ano, melhorias devem ser feitas. Acontece, que não pensamos necessariamente em prover melhorias para angariar novos membros. Mas sim, para proporcionar uma experiência mais adequada aqueles que já são parte da Família Kung Fu. Naturalmente, esse cuidado se estende a quem chegar também.


Until the official opening of your Mo Gun, there is enough time to prepare it properly. In fact, the preparation never ends. Every day, every month and every year, improvements must be made.
