Continuação da resposta de Mestre Leo Imamura...
Final part of the last answer of Si Gung...

"Sau" diz respeito a obedecer .Neste primeiro estágio, você deve aceitar o sistema.
"Lei" quer dizer separar.

"Sau" refers to comply. In this first stage, you must accept the system. This is not the time to think if the system is incomplete or if there is any mistake in their design.
"Pow" which means "break into pieces". In other words, analyze. After accept the system you should investigate it.You should always study the system. But after accepting, not before.
"Lau" means "cut off". Each practitioner has their own way of doing things, movement.
Many people ask me why the Ving Tsun is so different from master to master. My answer is that if a practitioner is really a master, he is on stage "Lau".
Unfortunately, many of these teachers do not allow their pupils to follow the same path, imposing their own way, which he believes is the best.
But these three stages can be used in any martial art, because the nature of Ving Tsun can be adapted in any circusntance.
While many say that Ving Tsun was originated from Shaolin (Siu Lam in Cantonese), with a historical tradition of 1500 years, its codification comes about 250 years, based on the concept of system, in Chinese, the Cantonese dialect called "Hai Tong".
As a system, one must learn the full Ving Tsun:from Siu Nim Tau to the Baat Jaam Do, and not a specific group of techniques, in Chinese, the Cantonese dialect called "San Sau".
For a real fight, we do not know what kind of movement we gonna have to use.So, regardless of the technique, if this is the simplest option, determined by an extremely refined sense, the person is expressing the essence of Ving Tsun.
I believe that all martial art expressed a high level search to Simplicity. Not is a matter of technique, but of perception.
I think that a true artist,is the person who sees something that others can not see, that ordinary people do not see. To the ordinary people a fight is a chaos, but the martial artist, having refined his perception, appreciate what others do not.
So, I think the martial artists in general can enjoy many of the concepts of Ving Tsun. They do not need to formally practice Ving Tsun, just be aware of their concepts.
Actually this kind of knowledge does not belong to me, I'm just the transmitter of that. But many have made it a kind of secret. However, I believe it does not help the martial arts.
Unfortunately, these people did not understand even the nature of the martial arts, standing at the stage of physical practice. Dont care about the stages of learning and not transcended the technical phase.
Especially after the "Bruce Lee fever" many martial artists came to believe that the best way to introduce a martial art was through combat. However, it is very important to make the fight the right way to practitioner. If this occurs prematurely, he can not express himself, but only trying to avoid being struck.
Martial Arts has to do with relaxing in crises.Because of this, the fight must be introduced gradually until the practitioner can express themselves fully.
Martial arts are characterized by the action of the physical body. The practitioners work to develop strategies, both have the war as the background, but the martial arts are expressed in real time over of body techniques.
Although the martial arts are eminently an expression body, a practitioner need not undermine the other to prove their point of view. The Chinese, the Cantonese dialect, called "Duk Sau" when one presents his thesis for another of same Kung Fu Family .When occurs between different styles called "Gong Sau".
This is because the tradition is just a legacy left by our ancestors according to their validity in a given period. Its up to the current practitioners prove whether this knowledge is worth being maintained, because it still has validity today.
Basically, all this relates to the Ving Tsun.
As I learned everything through this learning movements. As you see my English is not the best fact that also happened with my Master. But we can communicate through language body.A very interesting method of learning.
As with the so-called primitive societies where the means of maintaining a legacy was through rituals. Those rituals functioned as books written in body language.
The same goes for the ways in martial arts, what we call in Chinese, the Cantonese dialect of "Kuen To." They are dictionaries that help us understand the basic vocabulary of the Ving Tsun System.

SG-Mr. Imamura tell us about the development of your relationship with Grand Master Moy Yat.

LI - In ancient times only the Chinese were allowed to join the Tree of a Traditional Kung-Fu Family .So, some Chinese masters willing to accept foreign students come to adopt them in their families, allowing them to use their surnames.
As you know, my family name is Imamura. My grandparents came from Japan to Brazil in the early 20's.That way I'm considered "Lou Fan", wich means outsider. There is other designations such as "Gwai Lou," which translates as "white ghost".
But when I was admitted to the Moy Yat Family, my Si Fu has adopted me as his own son.
In my early years in United States, I had no place to stay.So my Si Fu took me home and treated as one of his.I had the privilege of opening the fridge and eat what I want to.Everything was very special for me.I realized the master-disciple relationship was above prejudice and rivalry between Chinese and Japanese.

So upon entering the Tree got his name "Moy" and the name "Yat Sang" which according to my Si Fu means "The one who the number 1 will develop to become somebody."
As he said at the time, my parents gave me life, but Si Fu Moy Yat taught me how to defend it. In other words, Moy Yat teach myself to develop the life that my parents gave me, This is the meaning of my name "Moy Yat Sang." Actually, I feel very proud of that.

Esperando que todos estejam curtindo essas matérias!!

SEGUNDA PARTE DA ENTREVISTA: KEEPING THE FAITH-VING TSUN IS WELL AND ALIVE IN BRAZIL. REVISTA: WING CHUN LEGENDS
ENTREVISTADOR: DR. STEVEN GOLD

Hello everyone,

After the great success of last posting with the first part of the interview with Si Gung Leo Imamura Dr. Steven Gold of the American magazine "Wing Chun Legends", back with part 2 of 3!

Hoping everyone is enjoying these matters!

Stay now with the 2nd part(2 of 3) of the interview!

PART OF INTERVIEW: KEEPING THE FAITH-VING TSUN IS ALIVE AND WELL IN BRAZIL. JOURNAL: WING CHUN LEGENDS
INTERVIEWER: DR. STEVEN GOLD

SG - I see that you see the Ving Tsun by an high vision.Tell us about your experiences outside of Ving Tsun.

LI-The curious thing is that many have identified this method with some innovative methods that are emerging in Europe recently. It is the case of teachers of formal education who attend our courses to work with their students .Their aggressiveness has requested our assistance to this fact so severe in Brazil, since the techniques of Ving Tsun are tools to develop a better sense of human nature .
The application of these techniques motivate the emergence and the consequent need to deal with our feelings. To create an atmosphere of great emotional intensity as a fight, though controlled and safe, this simulated crisis bring out different feelings that often lie dormant within us.When appear, allows us to know more about ourselves and therefore rely more on our attitudes.
So, my role in Brazil is promoting this kind of knowledge, just as my mentor, Grand Master Moy Yat made in the USA.
Actually, what I'm doing is nothing new, nothing special, just what I'm posting learned. And many are not aware of what we're talking in Brasil. This fact makes me extremely useful and allows me to have an schedule very active.
Right now I am very pleased that our message is reaching more mature people and not only teenagers, who are often the target of most schools of martial arts.
In our schools of Ving Tsun have a high incidence of students who are between 30 and 60 years old. What do you think a person sixty-something years is seeking to practice Ving Tsun? He wants to see his life for a different aspect. He wants to change their worlds.is that we do here.
One fact should make it clear.Ving Tsun not have a written philosophy. Not even a doutrine. The techniques are moving philosophies that speak for themselves s.The teacher need not be philosophy to the student, who in turn need not believe in everything.Thats makes the Ving Tsun system extremely suitable for modern society.

SG - It's interesting how your concept of tradition allow people to think clearly about themselves and the society they live. I would like you to explain better about how you could maintain this threshold between the legacy that you received from Moy Yat and how to adapt it to modern times.

LI-I honestly believe that have done nothing different from Moy Yat, but at the same time, there are many things differents. My knowledge no doubt comes from Moy Yat, but that does not mean I think like him. This point is particularly interesting in Ving Tsun, transmission.
The Ving Tsun System is based on the principle of simplicity. In Chinese, Cantonese dialect, called "Tang Song." Tang "means" simple quantity "and" Son "means" pure quality. "
So when we speak of Simplicity is much more than being simple.A lot of people confuses simplicity with be poor. Cause there is one crucial difference between "simplicity of poverty" and "simplicity of wealth." Obviously when we talk about simplicity in Ving Tsun, we speaking of the second.
In Ving Tsun, we select the best move, the simplest.
The simplest is the most efficiente. However, effectiveness depends on four conditions that denominated checking factors: positioning, timing, distance and energy.
The movement in these conditions more economical to accomplish a particular goal is the best.
But to understand the conditions, you need perception. In Chinese, the Cantonese dialect, called "Chi Kwok," which means "understanding knowledge", in Portuguese, we make distinction between perception and sensation. The last occurs when we feel something and understand what happened, while the first relates to understanding what is felt.
When I talk about deciding what is most simple in each condition, I'm talking about perception. But to develop fundamental insight is that being relaxed in Chinese, the Cantonese dialect, called "fong song".
The appropriate relaxation allows us to be more alert, causing them to better understand the nature of the facts and their conditions of existence.
As you see, Ving Tsun is not only about combat techniques, but the concepts, principles that can be applied in any type of martial art.
This is why, in my opinion, did Bruce Lee have both .He used successfully in the thinking of the Ving Tsun.I believe he was very honest, because he never said "I invented it." He only said "I usually do so." Of course he was inspired in Ving Tsun.
Every practitioner mature Ving Tsun has its own approach art. system itself leads us to this path. The three stages of learning: "Sau", "Pow" and "Lei"

ENTREVISTA INTERNACIONAL:MESTRE LEO IMAMURA(INTERNATIONAL INTERVIEW WITH MASTER LEO IMAMURA.)

THE FAITH:VING TSUN IS ALIVE AND WELL IN BRAZIL."

SG - Mr. Imamura, you could talk broadly about the development of Ving Tsun in Brazil?

LI-The Ving Tsun was introduced in Brazil by some immigrants from Hong Kong, I would quote the name of one who was my first instructor, Mr. Li Hon Ki.
He learned the art with different people like Ho Kam Ming, Koo Sang and
Ng Chang. Mr. Li came to Brazil to visit his family and decided to stay a few years, and today he lives here.
At first, Master Li Hon Ki taught privately his students.I was one. In fact, I was the first to complete all levels of training under his tutelage. Years later founded the first
official Ving Tsun school in my country in 1988.
However, it is important to mention an earlier event: the withdrawal of study at the Faculty of Law, in University of Sao Paulo, missing only one year to complete it, to become a professional Martial Artist. To this end, I decided to go to Hong Kong and Master Li has helped me in this decision.
In my trip to Hong Kong had to spend a few days in New York and, by coincidence, I met Grand Master Moy Yat, embarking upon a strong and lasting relationship.
At that time, believed that Moy Yat was retired because it had a large family, where students and students of students were committed to the responsibility of transmitting the art. However, the fact was that he was still very active and fully exercising their activities.
When finished our meeting, Grand Master Moy Yat said: "Go to Hong Kong and seek your goals. If you not find, you can come back I'll be willing to help"
Obviously I called Master Li Hon Ki, that evening to ask him advice and he told me, "Moy Yat is perhaps the only person who can help you since you have so many complex questions to be answered. "
In fact, he left me free to follow my path.
Unfortunately, I found what I was looking for in Hong Kong.I was looking for something more than a system of combat. My goal to become a professional martial artist to help and educate people and not just teach personal defense.I wanted something deeper.
One of the key problems was the barrier of lamguage.None renowned master of Hong Kong speak English, much less Portuguese. So I went to NY and it all started.
Grand Master Moy Yat has a very particular approach regarding the transmission of Martial Arts.I actually found exactly what I was looking to learn from this remarkable Master.
He lived in Brooklyn and taught at Chinatown. His method of teaching was very traditional.
When I talk about tradition I'm not talking about following something blinded .No.I´m talking about following something because it's worth doing .This was what I felt when I decided to follow Moy Yat.

SG - How was the receptivity of your ideas in your own country?

LI-Fortunately, many Brazilians are interested in learning a complete approach Ving Tsun System.
What I mean by "comprehensive approach"? Comprehensive approach is not like merely come, learn some techniques and go.Is much more than learn the nature behind each technique, allowing its application in their day-to-day.
A few minutes ago a politician called me wanting to learn Ving Tsun. For what? Obviously that is not for fight. He has so many obligations, so many commitments, that simply lost control of the situation. Now he wants to practice Ving Tsun to improve your quality of life, to develop the ability to make decisions effectively in real time.
I see a very optimistic person that the desire to learn, because I believe that Ving Tsun is extremely efficient for modern society. He did not wanted me to learn a set of exotic moves after seeing a Bruce Lee movie
This is an extremely positive in promoting Ving Tsun in Brazil.preserve in art as in its heyday, when people learned the art learned not only to fight, but primarily to learn more about themselves and contribute the best way possible in the society where they lived.
We are now promoting this aspect of art in a time scale maior. Now we have several classes.Teaching this concept in universities.we assist people through different federations, federations of individuals in kung fu, and several conferences.
As I said earlier, there is a great need to speak of tradition, because people have a prejudice about very large.
They think that tradition is something old and without utility.I believe that one of the difficulties of understanding the art of Ving Tsun is by seeing the fact from the viewpoint of capitalism.Simply consume and throw away7.No However, the arts as Ving Tsun emerged well before that concept be so dominant as today.
Therefore I believe that our mission in Brazil is to promote the traditional form of transmission.

TREINO NA CASA DO SI FU PARTE 3 (TRAINING AT SI FU´S HOUSE PART 3)

Yesterday(last Thursday) an unexpected surprise: an invitation to train at the house of Si Fu.

Me and my friend and kung fubrother Vladmir Anchieta "Moy Wu Lai," had a practice marked wit Si Fu for this Thursday, but Si Fu invited us to conduct this training in his home.

In the middle of the road, we also had the good news that there would be Si Sok Diego, and Vlad was not alone, his son Daniel, 4 years old, with his father.

I cannot pass without talk about Si Sok Diego´s phrase: "man, I can not look to Vlad and Daniel, without remember Lone wolf and Cub!"

Man, for me Lone Wolf manga is the best that humanity has produced, and really found it very funny because Daniel came with Vlad at all times, this always touch me.

The house of Si Fu was crowded, we had two Julias: one was Jade's sister and another friend of Jade (daughter of Si Fu).
There were many children and people in the balcony training.
We started by the forms ... and saying he wanted to exploit the potential of his balcony (lll) He asked for a round of Jing Choi from one end to another.

Si Sok Diego was good, Vlad too, but me...
Man , that was not a good day.
even the little Daniel was watching me thinking: "shame on you mister!"
That was not a Jing Choi that I (black t-shirt) was doing, that was more like a Michael Jackson´s moves.
Olha! Igualzinho!

Look! The same as me!
Michael Jackson has a lot to do with the Gwan practice.
(*thats a joke between me and Paula, one day I´ll tell)

After, we did the Chi Sau training.
You can see Si Sok Diego(red) and Vlad(white)

I dont know what was that, but I was feeling myself I little weak at that night.
Look the photo and you will understand.
Chi Sau com Si Sok Diego.

Mais Chi Sau.
More Chi Sau.

"I found this training very interesting, the study of perception, and I am also trying to work a best distance."

These were the words of Vlad after training baat Jaam Do, also with the participation of Si Fu in mobilizing us to see and understand the connections that happens when you make a movement, "calling" other movement, and how you will cover the next movement in a best possible...

We work these concepts into a dynamic proposed by Si Fu.

"I think the training was great today, but I must speak of training in the morning at Mo Gun. There we worked with an energy more direct and here was a energy into a movement, I thought cool, I think is a nice moment. "

Si Sok Diego (in red), commented on his time where he had the opportunity to try different dynamics, with different energies in baat Jaam Do.
It was easy to see dedication of Si Sok during training, he was quite willing yesterday.

Maybe it was the participation of Si Fu, location, and willingness to train of Si Sok, who have helped me in the second half of training, to recover the energy, really I was very down, but it was very important for me that moment value with my Kung Fu brothers and Si Fu . We never know when we will have another opportunity like this.
I finished the training, knowing that my movements are very freeze, not seen very fluidity , but I certainly have time to spare to improve it.

NÚCLEO RIO DE JANEIRO 14 ANOS (14 YEARS OF RIO DE JANEIRO BRANCH)

In the last August first, was celebrated 14 years anniversary of Rio de Janeiro Branch which is headed 'till today by my Si Fu, Master Julio Camacho.

In this Mo Gun had been great practitioners and great human beings. Since people with the eternal dream of following in the footsteps of their idol Bruce Lee, who watched in childhood, but also other people with more serious issues.

In Mo Gun, the story of the Moy Yat Ving Tsun in Rio de Janeiro survived and I remember some words of Si Fu about his begnning:

"My uncle called me and said: Julio, arent you were looking for a room to rent? I am now in a room in Tindiba Avenue, come here. I then decided after consulting Si Gung , signed everything straight, then that rented, the owner handed me the keys and I was standing there looking at that empty room, and I knew that in the following month had to pay the first month's rent. (laughter) "

Even today I cant believe that I passed by that Mo Gun every day returning from many places to my house and only met it four years later, in 1999 ...

I remember that I was traumatized by somethings, like begin to training and some months later the teacher disappear. And one of the first things I asked to my young Si fu at the time when met him was:

-So ... I have the risk of starting to train and this academy close? Or you stop to teach?
-Thiago, I can assure you that you'll never run out of practice.

And as always, Si Fu was telling the truth ...

Si Gung e Si Taai na inauguração do novo Mo Gun.

Si Gung and Si Taai on the old Tindiba Branch inauguration.

Si Fu, still looking like a boy, receveid from the hands of Si Gung, a Certificate, that made him an official MYVT Branch Director.
This Certificate is so important to Si Fu, that still today it is on our Mo Gun´s wall.

The room was no longer so empty.
I remember when I went crazy for have met 15 years with this
Muk Yan Jong entering the first time in a Mo Gun of MYVT.
I knew that I would train there.

The old banner!

The small board with the first practitioners was just to BIU Ji .. hehe
Si Fu say, you can see the maturity of a Mo Gun,
according to the members board.
This is because for a long time, the levels of first trilogy were crowded in our Mo Gun,
Today the panel of our Gun Mo totally changed ...

This "Hong Kong Style floor" brought a great charisma to the Mo Gun.
This Mo gun was so small that during the visit of the production of the TV show: "Health Alternative" program of the cable channel GNT to do a interview about Ving Tsun, the reporter thought it was just the reception .. hehe
Si Taai Gung Moy Yat também esteve lá.

Si Taai Gung visited our old Branch!

The Jing Tong inauguration by Si Taai Gung.
You can see , that at the time, Master Julio has no Jiu Pai yet.
So for the visitors know from where he was, a photo with his Si Fu is handled on Jing Tong.
Caramba!
estava no meio delas..rs

Man! I cant remember this photo!
When I got into the Family the Mo Gun was already this way!
I sit on this chair with 15 years old with my mom to register.
I remember to look those VHS in the background, I dont understand why "brave heart" was there! hehe

A good heart and dedication bring people!
A pequenina sala do Si Fu na época.
Algumas raridades presentes nesta foto:

The little room at the time was the Si Fu´s office.
Some rarities in this photo:
The picture painted by Si Taai Gung Moy Yat still hanging on the wall without frame.
On the ground, another painted by Si Taai Gung of his Si Fu Yip Man doing the Jong movements.
And on the table, the legendary gray fax machine , which in the absence of a dog eventually become the unofficial mascot of the Rio de Janeiro Branch,
its still with us till today even without work , and I dont know why! hehe..
Si Fu bem novinho fazendo a sequência do Jong.
Esse Jong está conosco até hoje.

The young Si Fu on the Jong!

The Peartree´s Blog gives the congratulations for everyone who was and still is part of this story! And of course to Si Fu and Si Mo for bring us till here!
