Si Baak Gung Miguel Hernandez(10G VT) is a senior practitioner and Master in Moy Yat Clan who lives in NY. He is also Si Hing of my Si Gung Leo Imamura(10G VT), and they are great friends.
Si Baak Gung already have been in Brazil , and I met him and I took a picture with him when I was 18 years old. But here in my job I dont have this picture! Oh boy!

Si Taai Gung Moy yat used to enjoy Si Baak Gung with him. So they did some trips togheter.
Like in this one, they were with Ip man's son Ip Ching in front of Leung Jaan medicine shop.
Si Taai Gung Moy Yat treina o Luk Din Bun Gwaan de Si Baak Gung Miguel.
Si Taai Gung Moy Yat trains the Luk Din Bun Gwaan of Si Baak Gung Miguel(10G VT).
Si Baak Gung Miguel mais uma vez com seu Si Fu Moy Yat em Hong Kong em 1990. Junto deles estão os Mestres(da esq. p/ dir.): Wong Shun Leung,Ip Ching e Siu Yuk Men.

Si Baak Gung MiGuel(10G VT) once more with his Si Fu Moy Yat. This time in Hong Kong in early 90's. With then are the Masters: Wong Shun Leung, Ip Ching and Siu Yuk Men.
E agora com seus dois irmãos Kung Fu: Si Baak Gung Pete Pajil e Si Gung Leo Imamura.
And now with his two Kung Fu brothers: Si Baak Gung Pete Pajil and Si Gung Leo.

So , with a great Kung Fu Si Baak Gung landed in Calgary , Canada, for a Ving Tsun seminar.

CONVITE AOS CANDIDATOS A INGRESSAREM NA fAMÍLIA kUNG fU (Si Fu invites the new practitioners to join the KF Family)

Last Saturday I dont know where you were, but Antonio(12G VT),Peteval(12G VT),Rafael(12G VT) and Tatiana(12G VT), candidates to join the KF Family had lunch with Si Fu Julio(11G VT),Si Sok Ursula(11G VT),Si Sok Felipe(11G VT) ,Vitor (12G VT) and me(12G VT), in a Chinese restaurant in front of the beach near to our Mo Gun.
Si Fu invited the four new practitioners to join the Family.

In Chinese Cultura, be on the table is a very good place to know someone better. 'Cause a basic instinct of the human being is tested all the time in this place: the hungry.
It must be strange for you, but basic details like when the food come, someone get the food only for him and do not care about the others starting to eat before everyone, or when theres only a little bit of a drink or food, and the person gets it without notice if someone would like too...

But this kind of lunch is not a test or something like that. Its only a moment where Si Fu Julio invites the new ones to join the Family as a simbolic action.

Everyone pay attention in what Tatiana(dressing white with blondie hair) is talking about. She in this moment was talking about her first impressions on Ving Tsun.

Até a próxima!
See you!

MOY YAT E O DIA DAS MAES (MOY YAT AND THE MOTHERS DAY)

(na foto acima da esquerda para direita: Si Taai Vanise Imamura,Si Mo Daniela Camacho e Si Sok Ursula)

Dia das Mães

O DIA DAS MAES.
Mother's day
(Trecho do Livro A LEGEND OF KUNG FU MASTERS de Si Taai Gung Moy Yat)
(part of the book A LEGEND OF KUNG FU MASTERS by Si Taai gung Moy Yat)

Moy Yat

I moved to US 17 years ago. Until that moment I had never seen a 'Mothers Day', but now I see every year. Is very strange that such a day is not celebrated in China. Until the moment that I had to write an article on this day, I never noticed that I had so little knowledge about such an important event like this.

How Mother's Day was originated? Why Mother's Day is a holiday? As a foreigner, I find it hard to understand the idea of Mother's Day. Maybe if I were a woman would be easier. I would like to describe some feelings about my mother and the Mothers day.I tried to write a poem, but I have no words. So I will give my best here.

Virtually every little thing has a mother. Human beings are peculiar creatures born with a sort of rudeness. we respect and admire things that are rare and unusual. Mothers are so common (everyone has one), then we not pay very attention ...

I make my own schedule, and usually I'm very busy.I have little time for TV. However recently I watched a program from Hong Kong called 'Mother'.

The story was so touching that I cried. The mother's story was sweet, I remembered my own mother and the mothers of all world.

Mother's Day in Chinatown is very busy, especially in restaurants. Large groups of families around a smiling lady with flowers in her arms, all eating together. At least they feed her once a year, then the mother is very happy on this day.

Young babies are fed breast milk from their mothers. The milk goes to the baby's mouth from its first days of life, and remains so for many, many meals here and anywhere in the world. In every day of the year, you can walk around and see mothers feeding their babies, not just the 'Mother's Day'.

I even have a mother, but never knew of Mother's Day. I have meals with my mother every day, and my mother says she is happier than the other mothers who eat with their families only once a year.

One of these days, if I have the power to conquer the whole world, the first thing I'll be changing the Mother's Day May 13 to 365 days a year.

VING TSUN TV: SEGUNDO EPISODIO (THE SECOND EPISODE FOR VING TSUN TV)

EPISÓDIO 2
EPISODE 2

First I have to apologyze with the people that cant understand portuguese.
This pilot project will be subtitled as soon as I can.
This is not a easy job but as I love to know more and more about Ving Tsun, I´m sure that you all want to understand what the person is talking about in the videos.

I ask you a little more patience ok?

Thanks my friends!

NOMECLATURA DO KUNG FU (PARTE 4) / KUNG FU FAMILY'S DENOMINATIONS(PART4)

Thanks for the kind words of Si Hing Tarcilio Martins, practitioner of another Ving Tsun lineage that resides in the city of Fortaleza in Ceara state, inspired me to the fourth part of our study on the nomenclature used in Kung Fu Family in general.

For you who missed the first three parts, be sure to read:

NOMECLATURA PART 1(AQUI/HERE)
NOMECLATURA PART 2(AQUI/HERE)
NOMECLATURA PART 3(AQUI/HERE)

When my Si Fu Julio Camacho received this plaque from the hands of his Si Fu and Si Mo , he became formally authorized to start his career as a Si Fu under the auspices of the Moy Yat Ving Tsun, and the Rio de Janeiro MYVT branch would never be the same ...

Until then everyone who entered the Rio Branch, and joined the Family Kung Fu, became To Dai of Master Leo Imamura(10G VT), since Julio Camacho at the time was the oldest member of his family in Rio de Janeiro being called for all by Si Hing.

When Julio Camacho became "Si Fu Julio Camacho(11G VT)", the new people started to join his Family,Moy Jo Lei Ou Family, to which I belong.
So, being new terms such as "Si Sok" and "Si Baak," began to be used more often ...

Aurea Celi (left) was the first woman to join Moy Jo Lei Ou Family. Ursula Lima(right) became her "Si Sok"

Mas o que é "SI SOK"??
But what is a "Si Sok"??

In Chinese culture there is great appreciation of the "Older", the "oldest" ... and this occurs at different levels.

If you consider that Si Fu is the "father" (as "Fu" has this meaning) and Si Mo is regarded as "Mother" ("Mo" means "Mother") in the
Kung Fu Family . You will agree that a "kung fu father" (if I may use that term) have older brothers and younger brothers in Kung Fu.

Therefore, you have older and younger uncles and aunties.

Ursula Lima(11G VT), while younger sister of my Si Fu, becomes my youngest aunt: SOK SI URSULA

師叔

This a term very often written here, and it can be used inside "Kung Fu World" for men and women(even "aunt" in chinese has a different character)
                     - This Character refers to a "Model", someone "who knows something better than you".
叔(Sok) - Significa "Tio mais novo"
-means "younger uncle" (or even "Younger aunt" in Kung Fu)

Master Anderson Maia(11G VT), as well as my Si Mo Daniela Camacho(11G VT), do seem to have the power of spontaneous regeneration of Wolverine for not age a single day .. hehe As we see in this photo of Anderson and his Si Fu, Master  Leo Imamura(10G VT).

Master Anderson is responsible for the MYVT Branch in Belo Horizonte(State of Minas Gerais). he is Si Hing (older brother) of my Si Fu, which makes him my "Si Baak."

師伯
The logic is the same, but  "Baak"(伯) means "older uncle"

Xenia D'Avila*(photo) was the first woman to become disciple of Si Fu Julio Camacho.
*You have to read "Shenia"

But if Xenia(12G VT) is disciple of Si Fu Julio(11G VT) it makes Ursula Lima her Si Sok(師叔 )and Master Anderson Maia her Si Baak(師伯). What means that Si Sok Ursula is her "younger aunt(uncle)" and Si Baak Anderson is her "older uncle". So she is a "nephew"... you can say...

師侄

...That her is a Si Jat.
"Si(師)"  is the same of Si Sok and Si Baak , but the ideogram Jat(侄) meand nephew...

In the photo above, we see Si Taai Gung Moy Yat(10G VT), but I call attention to the first boy from right to left: Our dear Master Lester Lau(10G VT)!

Look: If Si Fu is your "father" in Kung Fu, And  his Si Fu which is Si Gung is your "grandfather" in Kung Fu. How then call a Si Hing (older brother) of your Si Gung?

Master Lester is my "Si Baak Gung"(師伯公), is my "older grandpa-uncle*" (*I dunno how to say in english)

And a Si Dai(younger brother of my Si Gung Leo? How can I call this person?

But we have to remember that this kind of use of this terms is for Kung Fu Family. You can even call a woman as "Si Hing" , even that means "older brother"... but for daily life you have antoher words.

(VING TSUN TV IS ON AIR!)

Acompanhem!

With an illustration by the artist and my Si Dai Phelipe Pita(12G VT), The Blog launches pilot version of  "VING TSUN TV " LOGO!!!!

What is it?

Ving Tsun TV is a project created by Master Julio Camacho(11G VT),who is also my Si Fu,, for start as a test for another project of him in college. What happened  is that things went so well, thanks to the dedication of Si Gung Leo´s todai JONES Berlowitz(11G VT), VING TSUN TVeventually became the main project!

How it works?

Si Fu got some senior practitioners for the first round of interviews.

This old practitioners  sat in a chair, and the persons that were in Mo Gun could ask any question about Ving Tsun that came in the head. And this practitioner would have to turn to respond.

Questions like "What is Chi Sau? "Why in the Cham Kiu only kicks to one side?" And many others and answered with all the Kung Fu of these old senior people.

First episode:

The Ving Tsun TV will bring together various attractions, but the pilot episode for the first program is just a question asked by PEDRO CORREIA(12G VT) that is in Cham Kiu about Ving Tsun acting as a personal defense to SI SOK URSULA LIMA(11G VT)

Go!

VING TSUN TV EPISODIO PILOTO: SI SOK URSULA RESPONDE SOBRE DEFESA PESSOAL NO VING TSUN.

VING TSUN TV PILOT EPISODE: SI SOK URSULA LIMA(11G VT) TALKS ABOUT PERSONAL DEFENSE IN VING TSUN.

CONVITE DO SI FU (SI FU´S INVITE)

People are very wedded to the past ,and about this fact, Si Taai Gung Moy Yat, according to my Si Fu Julio Camacho(11G VT), used to say that we're doing "history" all the time.
So yesterday, on May 3, 2010, I consider as a historic day. Well I received a direct invitation from my Si Fu, to work on a project with the closing date for the year 2017. This date, which will mark his 25 years of Kung Fu.

According to Si Fu's own words, this is a big dream of him.
Of course a story not exactly ends when it is finished, it stops when you stop writing it. Therefore, despite the great honor to have received this invitation, I'll need all the time to remember that for the day May 3, 2010 to be of historical day, I must not stop "writing that story," untill 2017. Or if not, it will be just another Monday  ...
