TWO DAYS W/ MY SI GUNG JULIO CAMACHO by Daniel Eustáquio 13G VT

Ultimamente tenho tido bastante oportunidade de poder acompanhar a relação do meu Si Fu com seu próprio Si Gung, o Grão-mestre Leo Imamura.   O que costuma servir de inspiração em diversos sentidos, sempre me trazendo a reflexão do potencial que as relações com outras gerações além da sua própria (no meu caso a 13ª) pode proporcionar de aprendizado para ambos. pude observar bastante dessa dinâmica entre meu Si Fu e seu Si Gung, durante a primeira Visita Oficial que ocorreu no Núcleo Méier, foi então que descobri que na semana seguinte meu Si Gung , o Mestre Julio Camacho, estaria visitando a sua Família Kung Fu no Rio! 

Imediatamente fiquei bastante animado e contente para poder mais uma vez conviver com meu Si Gung e aproveitar o pouco tempo que teria junto do mesmo, com a intencionalidade de conhecer cada vez a pessoa que transmitiu o sistema para o meu Si Fu. Sua vinda ao Brasil era principalmente com intuito de ministrar seminários para níveis mais avançados do sistema Ving Tsun, porém foram abertas algumas atividades para que todos pudessem participar e rever o líder do Clã. 

Então na quinta-feira do dia 23/11 parti sozinho para o condomínio BlueSky, um local onde já pude ouvir do meu Si Fu diversas histórias do dia-Dia da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou e que agora foi retomado como a sede desta Família Kung Fu, desta vez estava sem meu Si Fu comigo o que me trouxe inicialmente alguns desafios pois ele é a ponte que liga a Família MJLO a minha pessoa

Chegando na nova sede, fui recepcionado pelo meu Si Suk Thiago Silva, que abriu um grande sorriso quando nos vimos, já me ajudando a esvaziar um certo nervosismo. Foi então que pude cumprimentar o Si Gung, que já fazia meses que não nos encontrávamos e pude perceber logo de cara bastante alegria em receber todos que estavam ali, mesmo cansando depois de uma longa viagem Si Gung parecia renovado e inteiro a cada momento e ação que executava. Na abertura da visita foi utilizado um vídeo a qual Si Gung tinha gravado exclusivamente para o meu Si Fu e poder rever junto dele com meus ‘tios Kung Fu’ foi bastante especial. Presenciar os comentários do próprio Si Gung em relação aos bastidores da gravação e o que estava por trás da mensagem do vídeo. 

Durante os comentários depois da exibição do vídeo, foi um momento de extrema importância para sintonia, pude entender através das falas do Si Gung seu momento atual e como estava coordenando as práticas naquele cenário onde havia praticantes sem nem ter acesso ao Sistema Ving Tsun até membros Sêniores como meu Si Baak Leonardo e meu Si Suk Carlos Antunes.  Por conta de um imprevisto Si Gung teve que se ausentar por grande parte daquela tarde, mas isso não foi um impeditivo para que pudéssemos aproveitar aquele raro momento de vários membros do Clã estarem presentes com vontade de praticar! O contato com meus Si Suk (e Si Baak) foi de grande riqueza, tanto com quem eu já tinha certa convivência, quanto os que eu conheci naquele dia mesmo. Foi um dia em que pude repisar em diversas práticas e marcos do Sistema com uma diversidade de “braços” bastante proveitosa, podendo conhecer e aproximar cada vez mais a relação com todos através da experiência marcial, espero que possa ter mais momentos assim entre o Clã.  Para finalizar o dia Si Gung retorna ao Mo Gun, para ouvir como foi a experiência de cada um naquela tarde. Todos foram fazendo seus comentários de como foi o dia, enquanto Si Gung devolvia 'embrulhado para presente' para nós com diversas histórias sobre suas viagens ao lado de seu Si Fu. Quando chegou minha vez de falar fui pego de surpresa com o Si Gung me chamando de “netinho”, o que imediatamente me tocou de forma bastante positiva demonstrando através da fala a leveza que deve ser uma relação de To Suen com seu Si Gung e como o ambiente estava bastante leve e feliz, para mim foi o grande momento daquela quinta-feira! 

Lately, I have had plenty of opportunities to witness the relationship between my Si Fu and his own Si Gung, Grandmaster Leo Imamura. It serves as inspiration in various ways, always prompting me to reflect on the potential that relationships with other generations beyond one's own (in my case, the 13th) can offer in terms of learning for both parties. I observed this dynamic between my Si Fu and his Si Gung during the first Official Visit of Si Taai Gung Leo to the MYVT Méier school. It was then that I discovered that the following week, my Si Gung, Master Julio Camacho, would be visiting the Kung Fu Family in Rio!

I was immediately excited and happy to once again spend time with my Si Gung and make the most of the brief time I had with him, intending to further understand the person who passed down the system to my Si Fu. His visit to Brazil was primarily to conduct seminars for advanced levels of the Ving Tsun system, but some activities were opened for everyone to participate and reunite with the Clan leader.

So, on Thursday, November 23rd, I set out alone for the legendary BlueSky buildings, a place where I have heard numerous stories from my Si Fu about the day-to-day life of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family and which has now been reestablished as the headquarters of this Kung Fu Family. This time, I was without my Si Fu, which initially presented some challenges as he is the bridge connecting the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family to me.

Upon arriving at the new headquarters of , I was greeted by my Si Suk Thiago Silva, who opened a big smile when we saw each other, immediately helping me dispel some nervousness. I then had the opportunity to greet Si Gung, whom I hadn't seen in months. I could instantly sense a lot of joy in welcoming everyone there. Despite being tired after a long journey, Si Gung seemed rejuvenated and whole with every moment and action he took.

During the visit's opening, a video exclusively recorded by Si Gung for my Si Fu was played, and watching it together with my 'Kung Fu uncles' was quite special. Witnessing Si Gung's comments on the behind-the-scenes of the recording and the message behind the video was enlightening.

During the comments after the video presentation, it was a moment of extreme importance for harmony. Through Si Gung's words, I could understand his current moment and how he was coordinating practices in that scenario, where there were practitioners with no access to the Ving Tsun system, as well as senior members like my Si Baak Leonardo and my Si Suk Carlos Antunes.

Due to an unforeseen event, Si Gung had to be absent for a significant part of that afternoon, but it did not prevent us from making the most of that rare moment when various Clan members were present and eager to practice! The interaction with my Si Suk (and Si Baak) was rich, both with those I already had some familiarity with and those I met that day. It was a day where I could revisit various practices and milestones of the system with a highly beneficial diversity of "arms," getting to know and strengthen the relationship with everyone through the martial experience. I hope there will be more moments like this among the Clan.

To conclude the day, Si Gung returned to the Mo Gun to hear about everyone's experience that afternoon. As each person shared their thoughts on the day, Si Gung reciprocated by presenting us with various stories about his travels alongside his Si Fu. When it was my turn to speak, I was pleasantly surprised when Si Gung referred to me as his "grandson," which immediately touched me in a very positive way. It demonstrated through his words the lightness that a To Suen's relationship with his Si Gung should have and how the atmosphere was quite light and happy. For me, it was the highlight of that Thursday!

Já no sábado do dia 25/11 fui acompanhar meu Si Fu para outro dia da visita, neste dia teria um colóquio junto de um café da manhã e os atos cerimoniais da Família MJLO. Encontrei meu Si Fu na manhã de sábado e fomos juntos novamente ao condomínio BlueSky, já fazendo o pré-evento durante o traslado para lá.  Assim que chegamos pude ver a felicidade do meu Si Fu em estar novamente naquele espaço com bastantes histórias relacionadas a família Kung Fu, chegando à sede desta vez acompanhado de meu Si Fu, pude ajudar nos preparativos para o café da manhã e conhecer as pessoas que fariam as cerimônias naquele dia. 

Uma das coisas que aprendi com meu Si Fu acompanhando diversos seminários com ele, é a habilidade de manter a “bola quicando”, ou seja, favorecer o favorável, não deixar o fio se perder, então no momento do colóquio, Si Gung abriu para que levantassem perguntas e contribuições, logo de cara me disponibilizei para perguntar sobre convivência, levando em conta principalmente o aprendizado através deste processo e como que o Si Gung enxerga isso atualmente. Ao final do colóquio o mesmo tema ainda estava sendo discutido, Si Gung conseguiu se aproveitar de uma dúvida minha para guiar todo aquele momento prévio aos atos cerimoniais, que foi de extrema importância para todos aqueles que estavam principalmente ingressando na família MJLO. 

Logo depois, começaram os atos cerimoniais onde teriam admissões à família, passagem de nível e a cerimônia de discipulado. Como testemunha honorável estava meu Si Baak Gung Ricardo Queiroz, irmão Kung Fu do Si Gung, pude aproveitar junto de todos ali presentes suas falas neste momento único para cada uma das pessoas que estavam á fazer suas cerimônias. Si Baak Gung fez a abertura dos atos cerimoniais e começou logo com a cerimônia de admissão, na qual 4 praticantes entrariam para família MJLO. 

Me chamou bastante atenção a pluralidade de pessoas naquele momento e ver o quanto as particularidades de cada um refletem na forma que lidam com aquele processo, sempre renova para mim o potencial que os atos cerimoniais portam através de um reconhecimento bastante único de cada um com seu próprio momento. Tendo depois a passagem de nível para o domínio Biu Ji, a qual pude presenciar também como Si Gung conduziria aquele momento sempre muito atento à pessoa que estava acessando (no caso meu Si Suk Lucas) para que fosse o mais personalizado possível para ele. O último ato cerimonial daquela manhã foi a cerimônia de discipulado do Si Suk Daniel, onde também pude acompanhar a condução do Si Gung para aquele momento, que é considerado o mais importante da jornada do praticante, sendo de bastante aprendizado poder observar tudo isso junto de meu Si Fu, sendo a primeira vez que vi meu Si Gung conduzir este tipo de cerimônia.   

Portanto esses dois dias de bastante aprendizado terminaram de uma forma especial, me despedi dos meus Si Suk ali presentes e por fim pude me despedir do Si Gung com um sorriso no rosto esperando ansiosamente para a próxima oportunidade de seguirmos juntos.  

On Saturday, the 25th of November, I accompanied my Si Fu for another day of the visit. On this day, there was a lecture followed by a breakfast and the ceremonial events of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family. I met my Si Fu on Saturday morning, and together we went to the BlueSky buildings, engaging in pre-event discussions during the commute. Upon arrival, I could see the joy in my Si Fu's face at being back in that space with many stories related to the Kung Fu family. This time, accompanied by my Si Fu, I assisted in the preparations for breakfast and got to know the individuals who would conduct the ceremonies that day.

One of the things I've learned from my Si Fu while attending various seminars with him is the skill of keeping the "ball bouncing," meaning to favor the favorable, not letting the thread unravel. So, during the lecture, Si Gung opened the floor for questions and contributions. Right away, I volunteered to inquire about communal living, focusing on the learning process through this experience and how Si Gung currently perceives it. At the end of it, the same theme was still being discussed, and Si Gung took advantage of one of my questions to guide the entire pre-ceremonial moment, which was extremely important for those primarily entering the MJLO family.

Soon after, the ceremonial events began, featuring admissions to the family, level advancements, and the discipleship ceremony. My Si Baak Gung, Ricardo Queiroz, Kung Fu brother of Si Gung, was an honorable witness. I seized the opportunity, along with everyone present, to hear his words at this unique moment for each person undergoing their ceremonies. Si Baak Gung opened the ceremonial events and started with the admission ceremony, during which four practitioners would join the MJLO family.

I was particularly struck by the diversity of people in that moment and how each person's unique qualities reflected in the way they approached the process. It always reinforces for me the potential that ceremonial events carry through a very unique recognition of each individual with their own moment. Following this, there was the level advancement to the Biu Ji domain, which I also witnessed, observing how Si Gung conducted the moment, always attentive to the person entering (in this case, my Si Suk Lucas), to make it as personalized as possible for him. The last ceremonial act of that morning was the discipleship ceremony for Si Suk Daniel. I also had the opportunity to observe Si Gung's guidance for that moment, considered the most important in the practitioner's journey. It was a significant learning experience to witness all of this alongside my Si Fu, marking the first time I saw my Si Gung conduct this type of ceremony.

Therefore, these two days of substantial learning concluded in a special way. I bid farewell to my Si Suk present and, finally, said goodbye to Si Gung with a smile on my face, eagerly anticipating the next opportunity for us to continue our journey together.

VISITING SAO PAULO WITH MY KUNG FU STUDENTS

 Em meados da década passada, eu tentava acompanhar os passos ágeis do meu Mestre Julio Camacho no aeroporto de Congonhas, na cidade de São Paulo. Era um final de tarde, e não lembro qual era a ocasião; apenas me recordo de, ao final de algumas rampas, encontrar o Mestre Anderson Maia, meu Si Baak, que havia chegado pouco antes. Ao nos ver descendo a rampa, com um sorriso no rosto, bradou: 'Julio Camacho e seu leal discípulo.' - Si Fu também sorriu, abraçou-o e, em seguida, foi a minha vez.

In the middle of the last decade, I was trying to keep up with the swift steps of my Master Julio Camacho at Congonhas Airport in the city of São Paulo. It was late in the afternoon, and I can't recall the occasion; I only remember that, at the end of a few ramps, I encountered Master Anderson Maia, my Si Baak, who had arrived a little earlier. Upon seeing us descending the ramp, with a smile on his face, he exclaimed, 'Julio Camacho and his loyal disciple.' - Si Fu also smiled, embraced him, and then I greeted him.

'Quando conheci o Lucas, ele tinha um corte de cabelo igual ao de uma cuia' - Lucas já não aguenta mais ouvir isso toda vez que quero contar de forma anedótica quanto tempo o conheço. Mesmo assim, ele sempre sorri como se fosse a primeira vez que ouvisse. Estava em São Paulo para um estudo sobre o Domínio "Baat Jaam Do" no Instituto Moy Yat e me hospedei na residência do Lucas [foto]. Para mim, foi realmente emocionante entrar no local. O mesmo garotinho de 2008, agora com seu próprio apartamento em outra cidade.

Tentamos aproveitar ao máximo nossa estadia: estudamos o "Cham Kiu" de modo que seu irmão Daniel, que também faz parte da minha Família Kung Fu, pudesse se beneficiar. Para todas as coisas que fizemos durante esses dias na casa dele, procurei estar ciente o tempo todo da razão pela qual estava hospedado ali. A função de Si Fu tem momentos muito especiais, como ficar hospedado na residência de um discípulo que você conheceu quando ele tinha 12 anos de idade. No entanto, também traz o fardo de nunca esquecer nosso compromisso com essa mesma pessoa em cada ação.

'When I met Lucas, he had a haircut that resembled a 'bowl.' - Lucas can no longer stand hearing me say this whenever I want to anecdotally convey how long I've known him. Nonetheless, he always smiles as if it were the first time he's heard it. I was in São Paulo for a study on the 'Baat Jaam Do' domain at Moy Yat Institute, and I stayed at Lucas's residence [photo]. For me, it was genuinely moving to enter the place. The same little boy from 2008, now with his own apartment in a different city.

We tried to make the most of our stay: we studied 'Cham Kiu' in a way that his brother Daniel, who is also a member of my Kung Fu family, could benefit. For everything we did during these days in his residence, I sought to be very conscious all the time of the reason I was staying there. The role of Si Fu has very special moments, like staying at the residence of a disciple you met when he was 12 years old. However, it also carries the burden of never forgetting our commitment to that person in every action.

Ao final da noite, aproveitávamos para que Daniel e Lucas praticassem 'Chi Sau' nas dependências do prédio. Foram momentos muito divertidos, e que nós três nunca esqueceremos.

São os momentos de aventura que levaremos no coração.

At the end of the night, we took the opportunity for Daniel and Lucas to practice 'Chi Sau' in the building's premises. These were very enjoyable moments, and the three of us will never forget them. These are the moments of adventure that we will carry in our hearts.

Antes de dormirmos, eu sempre colocava algum filme na TV que sabia que Lucas e Daniel nunca assistiriam por conta própria[Risos]. Nessas oportunidades, tentava levá-los a assistir os filmes por uma 'Perspectiva Kung Fu'. Alguns dos filmes que assistimos foram 'AKIRA'[1988], 'Blade Runner'[1982] e quando meu irmão Kung Fu Roberto Viana[FOTO a esquerda] chegou para ficar hospedado também, assistimos em sua homenagem o clássico 'O Rei dos Kickboxers'[1990]. 

Before going to sleep, I always put on a movie on the TV that I knew Lucas and Daniel would never watch on their own [laughs]. On these occasions, I tried to get them to watch the movies from a 'Kung Fu perspective.' Some of the movies we watched were 'AKIRA' [1988], 'Blade Runner' [1982], and when my Kung Fu brother, Roberto Viana [PHOTO on the left], arrived to stay as well, we watched the classic 'King of Kickboxers' [1990] in his honor

Lucas e Daniel também foram recebidos com muito carinho e muita ação, pelos meus Si Suk e pelo Si Gung no Instituto Moy Yat[FOTO]. Fiz questão de levá-los até lá, para que eles pudessem ter experiências além das minhas próprias limitações, ao vivenciarem situações com Mestres do Grande Clã e praticantes iniciantes e com mais experiência. 

Lucas and Daniel were also warmly welcomed and had a lot of action from my Si Suk and Si Gung at the Moy Yat Institute [PHOTO]. I made a point of taking them there so they could have experiences beyond my own limitations, as they encountered situations with Masters from the Grand Clan Moy Yat Sang, and both beginner and more experienced practitionerss 

Enquanto Lucas trabalhava durante o dia, toda a minha atenção estava dedicada ao seu irmão, meu discípulo Daniel [à direita na foto]. Vivemos muitos momentos significativos nesse período, e um deles foi poder conhecer o Mestre Márcio Fogolin e seu discípulo Thiago Ferreira [foto acima]. Com o Mestre Márcio, tivemos uma aula de história sobre o círculo marcial no Brasil. Foi uma conversa muito rica de cerca de duas horas. Ao chegar, quando viu Daniel, Mestre Márcio o reconheceu como um dedicado discípulo, pois segundo ele, sempre o via nas fotos comigo. Essa fala do Mestre Márcio me tocou, pois me fez lembrar imediatamente do episódio no aeroporto, quando eu e meu Si Fu fomos recebidos pelo meu Si Baak Anderson alguns anos atrás.

No entanto, talvez a frase que mais me deixou orgulhoso tenha vindo do Mestre Paulo Camiz, meu Si Suk. Sendo ele um dos melhores médicos não apenas de São Paulo, mas do Brasil, ele sempre parece muito sério em suas ações e atitudes, como alguém que não desperdiça tempo. Ao final do jantar que encerrava o encontro sobre 'Baat Jaam Do', ele teria dito: 'Parabéns pelos seus discípulos, eles são formidáveis.'

'Formidável' é uma palavra que não é muito comum no dia a dia, e eu também não tenho uma relação muito próxima com o Si Suk. Sendo sério em suas ações, como intuo que seja, sabia que era um elogio sincero, e pude me sentir verdadeiramente honrado nos últimos momentos dessa viagem tão especial.

While Lucas worked during the day, all my attention was dedicated to his brother, my disciple Daniel [on the right in the photo]. We experienced many significant moments during this period, and one of them was getting to know Master Márcio Fogolin and his disciple Thiago Ferreira [photo above]. With Master Márcio, we had a history lesson about the martial arts circles in Brazil. It was a very enriching conversation lasting about two hours. Upon arrival, when he saw Daniel, Master Márcio recognized him as a dedicated disciple because, according to him, he always saw him in photos with me. This remark from Master Márcio touched me, as it immediately reminded me of the episode at the airport when my Si Fu and I were welcomed by my Si Baak Anderson.

However, perhaps the phrase that made me most proud came from Master Paulo Camiz, my Si Suk. Being one of the best doctors not only in São Paulo but also in Brazil, he always appears very serious in his actions and demeanor, like someone who doesn't waste time. At the end of the dinner that concluded the 'Baat Jaam Do' gathering, he  said to me, 'Congratulations on your disciples; they are formidable.'

'Formidable' is not a word used often in everyday language, and I don't have a very close relationship with Si Suk either. Being serious in his actions, as I assume he is, I knew it was a sincere compliment, and I felt honored in the final moments of this very special journey.
