NEW VING TSUN BOOKS FROM MOY YAT LINEAGE ON THE WAY!

Printscreen of one of the Weekly Meetings between Grand Master Leo Imamura and my Master Julio Camacho.
Their project is dedicated to the production of a nine books. The first three volumes will be called "Fundamentals of Ving Tsun". In all of them, they will deal with 36 fundamental themes of this System, which will also serve to the Moy Jo Lei Ou Clan´s Fundamental Classes in addition to an excellent knowledge for everyone. )

I had a very special conversation with my Master Julio Camacho recently, and even going through various topics, it touched me the moment when he spoke of "endogenous" and "exogenous factors" that have the potential to change the history of Ving Tsun.
On "Endogenous Factors" he spoke about Bruce Lee a Ving Tsun practitioner, who alone influenced several generations of martial arts practitioners by helping  the spread of the Ving Tsun System around the world. And when talking about "Exogenous Factors" he mentioned the fire in the Shaolin Temple (Siu Lam) by the Manchus, which made it possible for the art that would be structured in a system called Ving Tsun, to come out of the walls of the Shaolin Temple.
As it could not be otherwise, Si Fu spoke about the moment in which we live, as a new exogenous factor(COVID-19), which may change the way in which people see the practice of martial arts from now on.

(My Si Suk Ursula Lima participates in another weekly meeting with my Si Fu and Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz.
The three have a very special proximity, because before Si Suk Ricardo and Ursula reach the title of Senior Class Masters within Moy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence. Much of their training took place under Si Fu's care, since Si Gung Leo Imamura resided in another state.

Not everyone knows, but my Si Fu already wrote and produced a TV series called "DDD21" in 2015, he also works as a psychologist and has two books of his own: "Tao of the Surf - Zen and the Art of Surf" and " The art of simplicity "(About the Ving Tsun System).
Si Fu  in his current life, he decided to redesign himself as a professional writer  writing books about Kung Fu.

(The initiative of this writing among these peers, came from Master Ricardo Queiroz. In addition to Master de Ving Tsun, he is a renowned academic, and proposed a series of books on the perspective of Kung Fu Masters on everyday topics. The name of this series will be "The Kung Fu & .....". The first volume will be: "The Kung Fu & The Fear". I am particularly excited about these books. After all, after Si Fu graduated in Psychology in the early 2010s. From his professional performance and his sharing with me, many interesting talks on our behavior in relation to certain aspects touched me. So, I want to see how the three will work together with their knowledge about each theme).

Anyone who knows Si Fu knows that one of its main characteristics is to seek constant integration between people. Therefore, in his career as an author, he does not intend to travel it alone. On the contrary, he will have the participation of a generation above (its own Si Fu, Grandmaster Leo Imamura), two of his peers (Master Ricardo Queiroz and Master Ursula Lima), and a descendant that its me.

(In 1990, I won a literary contest at school with my twenty-page book called " Isaac, the little piece of fabric". It was the story of the adventures of a Jewish piece of fabric that came to life. Thirty years later, I felt very honored with the invitation of my Master Julio Camacho, to write together three books on a very special topic to Chinese martial arts practitioners. More information soon.ccording to Si Fu, this invitation was made to me, due to the almost two decades that I invest writing on this page that has already changed its name three times, but that has kept its essence in dealing with Kung Fu Life in a light and romantic way.)

Aguardem.

So it was possible for me to make contact with Si Fu's visionary conduct in this conversation of over an hour. I have weekly meetings with him to produce this book together. Likewise, he has been meeting weekly with my Si Gung and my Si Suk, to talk about the other works that are being produced with each of them.
So, I believe that in the next nine years, we will have a lot of quality material in english and portugueese coming to people's homes, through books on the Ving Tsun System and Kung Fu. Wait for more news!

HOW VING TSUN CAN HELP AGAINST BULLYING IN SCHOOLS

For those who don't know, on May 7th, it was released by AMAZON, a children's picture book based on the 1984 "Karate Kid" classic movie. The illustration above is from this book by Kim Smith.
Because I´m are following the new series that follows to the classic from 1984, I got in touch with this image promoting the book. Interestingly , the expression of the character Daniel LaRusso in the illustration, realizing surrounded by members of the Karate school called "Cobra Kai", touched me deeply.
I spent a few minutes looking at this scene, and a movie came to mind: Not the "Karate Kid" movie, but the movie of my own life. And I believe that the lives of many other young people who are currently being bullied every year.

Daniel LaRusso's expression in almost every image released by the book is utterly helpless. Since in the original story of the movie, he is the new boy of a school, and is bully by Johnny Lawrence and his fellow Karate practitioners.
(Picture of me taken in 1997, just moments before going to another
tough day at school at the height of the problems I was facing in my class.)

In 1997 it was difficult when Sunday came, because I knew that the next day I would need to be in that classroom and somehow try to "survive." It's hard to explain why bullying starts. It may be because of a blunder you made in public that marks you throughout the school year, or some physical trait (which is more common). This feature turns out to be a serious problem for the student.

(The countenance I carried throughout 1997 and part of 1998)

Maybe Daniel LaRusso's expression in the illustrations touched me so much, because it was exactly the expression he carried with me all year: An expression of helplessness.
For some reason I can't explain, I never considered commenting with my parents what was going on, and I endured those verbal and physical aggressions all year long. This ended up causing me some health problems. For in addition to living in fear, the person who suffers bullying lives in isolation, since no one wants to associate with this student, since they can become a target too. And some random people in the classroom will even chorus the bullies, just so that these bullies don't come to them at some point.

In the book's illustrations, Daniel LaRusso's expression begins to change when through a playful and experiential process with Mr. Miyagi, who becomes his Karate Master. He is beginning to gain more and more confidence because he no longer feels so alone and the very learning of a martial art coupled with his mentor relationship gives him the courage to live a better life.

I only met my Master Julio Camacho (photo) in 1999 at the age of 15. From then on I was never approached by any bully no more. Whether at school or on the street, everyone started to treat me with respect . Something about me changed every day thanks to the learning of this Chinese martial art called Ving Tsun that I learned from my Master.
Also through an experiential process that we call "Kung Fu Life," my Master teaches me over twenty years how to look at everyday issues from a strategic perspective, so common to a Kung Fu practitioner.

The book ends just like the 1984 movie: With Daniel-San facing his former bully Johnny Lawrence in the All Valley Karate Championship Final. Daniel eventually becomes champion, and earns the respect of the other boys.
(My Master and I when I got a Chinese cloth from a practice partner on my birthday in 2006)

Unlike a movie like "Karate Kid", we don't solve all our punch and kick issues. Ving Tsun, considered by many to be "The martial art of everyday fighting," speaks of learning the art of fighting without a fight. For we understand that our greatest opponents in life will be situations that we cannot "hit"
We can think about what kind of information we are giving, whether we enter a classroom on the first day of the year or our new job. Which will generate in those present the thought that they may disrespect us. Or maybe when we get robbed: Why did the bad guy choose us?

(Already as a professional and Master of Ving Tsun in 2017, I speak in public observed by my Master Julio Camacho and his Master Leo Imamura)

In 2007 I started to become a professional of this  martial art, and I try to create scenarios where people who also need to gain the confidence to resignify themselves as human beings can develop. Just as my Master did and still does for me.
I believe in the fundamental role that martial arts and living with it have played in my life from these extremely heavy episodes of bullying.
And today that Ving Tsun Kung Fu has become a dream I live daily, I quote my Master's famous quote: "You will never know why you devoted so much of your life to a dream until the day this dream saves your life."

HOW TO BE A VING TSUN PROFESSIONAL.

(Si Fu playing "Taan Sau" while performing "Siu Nim Tau" at the former world headquarters in NY)

My Si Fu has already said, that what we call "device" (Jiu Sik) as a "Taan Sau" , for example, should not be practiced in exhaustion until you have an excellent "Taan Sau".But,you should become able to understand all the possible unfolding, from the moment one makes Taan Sau.
In the same way is life: a decision we take, can change many things. Maybe not so important at the moment, but in the short, medium or long term , we can feel the difference.

(In January 2010, coordinating the collective practice at the dance school where we started at Méier. On Friday afternoons, it was possible to use the larger room.)

In 2008, I started taking charge of the classes at Méier School instead of the Si Suk Ursula who had become pregnant, and besides, I coordinated a work on the Wednesdays nights at the Barra School, which was a kind of practice of fighting with the biggest " badasses "of the Kung Fu Family at the time.

(In 2008, minutes before watching "Rambo IV" in the movies!
That year, I began to decide whether I wanted to live from Ving Tsun or not.)

In those days, I felt a little lost, a lot to speak the truth. My family owned a midsize company, and my ever-increasing dedication, though completely amateurish, to Ving Tsun. It was disturbing my participation in my Family business Meanwhile, I was in a relationship for many years and had my little plans. So I did not know where to point my energies.
(Com Si Fu e Si Suk Ursula no dia em que acessei o  Domínio "Luk Dim Bun Gwaan")

(With Si Fu and Si Suk Ursula the day I accessed the Domain "Luk Dim Bun Gwaan")
(With dear Paula Gama, moments before another workshop
in the old Méier Studio in 2009)

If on one hand I  loved being with the Kung Fu Family and with Si Fu, Si Suk Ursula and Paula Gama in particular. On the other hand, I was increasingly called to action by family members to produce more inside the company and by my own girlfriend at the time, since the time that I was not working in the company, spent almost everything with Si Fu.

(Practice of "Chi Sau Hei Geuk" in the former residence of Ines Braconnot in 2003. In the photo we see in the background, Master Felipe Soares and Master Ursula Lima and in the right corner, Master Leonardo Reis and Felipe's sister Fernanda Neves.)

(It was not uncommon for Si Suk Ines to let the Family use her house for practices and events. The sun seemed to hit that yard in the right measure in the morning, and the whole garden was well-kept, and when one walk over the ground , would made a luscious noise of stones mixed with earth. There is no doubts, about how many times I visualized a residence like this in my mind.)

I wanted to have a house like my Si Suk Ines Braconnot in Jacarepaguá neighborhood, with a yard and enough space to have a small Mo Gun with half a dozen students in my 50s. Within my romantic fantasy, I would have been professionally stabilized and by the small number of followers, it would not disrupt my hypothetical future marriage because of lack of time.

All these plans came tumbling down one afternoon that year. Waiting for the bus to take my former girlfriend home, I felt a burn in my chest, something burning inside. And with my mind too far away, I thought for the first time of being  a Ving Tsun's professional.

(In the photo above, I am still very young, standing with my dear  Kung Fu brothers Cristiano Chaves and Gil Batista. I am observed by my former girlfriend that years later, in 2008, was the first to receive the news that I was thinking of becoming a Ving Tsun professional at a bus stop).

I would not be just another To Dai helping Si Fu, but I would really live on it. "It would be a dream!" I thought. When I shared it with my girl, she smiled but did not look very excited. Then not so excited, I commented on the possibility with Si Fu the next day while we had lunch at the old Wall Mart where today is the Village Mall in Barra da Tijuca: "I think the idea is great!" - he said to my astonishment.
(Time when I became a disciple of Si Fu in May 2007.
His unrestricted support is always important to me)

Si Fu's immediate support for my proposal gave me a scare. Basically I did not expect him to support like everyone else. And today, so many years later, I realize how committed I was to failure.

(An old selfie when I painted the wall of MYVT Meier School in 2011.
This legendary painting remained untill last week)
(First practice of "Cham Kiu" at MYVT Méier School in 2011: Luciano Freitas
a year and a half later he would become a disciple, as I, of Mestre Julio Camacho.)

– Me alertou Si Fu.

Over the years that followed, I began to live on Ving Tsun. That did not mean I was already a professional. I directed a school that presented eight disciples to my Si Fu, and which today make up the body of life members of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family. I became the first Family Leader of my generation, but none of this guaranteed my professionalism.
Si Fu says that we can be amateurs and professionals, since we love what we do. However, under no circumstances should we give up being professionals. - "When things change Pereira, how they should change a lot in the next few years, be careful not to turn a dinosaur into the Kung Fu Family." Si Fu warned me.
I ended up not paying attention to what he said and only a year and a half later, I found myself as the "professional" more lagged in terms of tuning within our Clan Moy Jo Lei Ou.
There were so many emergency situations that I believed I did not have enough time to dedicate myself to the future that Si Fu saw. And so, even the fun hashtag "#thehardestworkerintheroom" that I used in my posts, I was no longer able to legitimately maintain its use.

(Working in the administrative part of the Méier School, while the School is dismantled for moving after seven years at the same address.)

With great humility, I realize that only at the age of thirty-four, and with ten years of career, do I begin to understand what it is to be a Ving Tsun professional. It's like a feeling that takes over your chest: The same anguish I felt at the bus stop in 2008 that I could no longer hold, the same impetus that led me to open the Méier School, now returns in a more mature and conscious way.
(Si Fu: Never "put his guard down" since the beginning of his career.
In the photo, he wears the blazer that years later I won as a gift.)

(Already as a professional, I wear the same blazer when opening the 1st Tutorial Titling Ceremony of the Moy Lin Mah Family, as well as the 1st Baai Si Ceremony of this Family led by Si Suk Ursula and her husband Ricardo Lopes in 2015. That night , Si Suk Ursula's birthday would still be celebrated by the members of his Family.)

Você chegará no próximo ponto, e no próximo e no próximo...

You just begin to believe in things before they manifest, as Si Fu usually does. You create a certain "flexible" strategy, so that step, unfold in the following and so on.As a device (Jiu Sik) ... As a "Taan Sau" ...
But it is not an inconsequential optimism, it is really a very strong feeling, that somehow, if you just do not screw up, if you do not disturb the flow of things, out of fear or commitment to suffering. You will arrive at the next point, and next and next ...
(Foto do primeiro Núcleo na Estrada do Tindiba, Zona Oeste do Rio,
onde Si Fu inaugura seu primeiro Núcleo)

(Photo of the first School on Tindiba Road, West Zone of Rio,
where Si Fu inaugurates his first school)

And so, perhaps we can remember the picture in the first school directed by Si Fu, on the  Tindiba Road in Jacarepaguá neighborhood that had written on it: "Do not let your fears prevent you from following the path of your dreams."
