Segundo um dos, senão o maior site de entretenimento dos EUA , TMZ.com, publicou que : A estrela de 'Homem de Ferro', escreveu uma carta a um juiz da Corte Superior de um Condado de LA pedindo-lhe para considerar dar-lhe um perdão formal para as condenações por drogas,que ele acumulou entre 96 e '02.Na carta, obtida pela TMZ, Downey começa:
"Minha razão para pedir que me fosse concedido um Certificado de Reabilitação é duplamente motivado em parte pela posição extremamente feliz que eu me encontro desde 2004, quando eu aceitei plenamente a responsabilidade para o meu vício...Primeiro, é para poupar a minha família das condições desfavoráveis de um pai e marido condenado por acusações criminais, que muitas vezes (e às vezes com razão) enfrenta...Em segundo lugar, agora eu posso dizer sem reservas que estou reabilitado da minha condição anterior, a de um viciado ."


One of the biggest sites, if not the largest, of US entertainment. Wrote a story about Robert Downey Jr that says:The "Iron Man" star wrote a letter to an L.A. County Superior Court judge asking him to consider giving him a formal pardon for the drug convictions he racked up between '96 and '02. 
In the letter, obtained by TMZ, Downey starts off: 
"My reason for asking that I be granted a Certificate of Rehabilitation is twofold, prompted in part by  the extremely fortunate position I have found myself in since 2004, when I fully accepted responsibility for my addiction."
"First, it is to spare my family the unfavorable conditions a father and husband convicted of felony charges often (and sometimes rightly) faces."
"Second, I can now say without reservation that I am rehabilitated from my previous condition, that of a practicing addict."

O site TMZ.com ainda traz uma matéria sobre o Si Fu de Roberto Downey Jr , Eric Oram,falando que ele havia  contactado uma mulher que já trabalhou com Robert na reabilitação, que lhe disse que Downey era um "viciado desesperado", acrescentando: "Ele nunca vai mudar, nem que ele queira."
No entanto, Downey se tornou um praticante, e os dois desenvolveram um vínculo estreito ao longo dos anos e Eric até trabalhou  com seu aluno em 17 filmes.
Eric Oram diz que Downey usou a disciplina para "reprogramar sua mente e corpo", acrescentando: "É difícil reconhecer o Robert que entrou na minha academia há 12 anos".


The site TMZ.com also brought a post about Eric Oram , Downey Jr 's Si Fu, contacted a woman who once worked with Robert in rehab, who told him Downey was a "hopeless addict," adding, "He will never change, nor does he want to."
Nevertheless, Downey became a student, and the 2 developed a close bond over the years and the teacher even worked with his student on 17 films.  
Oram says Downey used the discipline to "rewire his mind and body," adding, "It's difficult to recognize the Robert that stepped into my academy 12 years ago."
