Grandmaster Leo visits Senior Master Pereira´s "Mo Gun"武館(Wǔguǎn 武馆)

O Programa Ving Tsun Experience tem feito uma diferença significativa em minha carreira. Nos últimos três anos e meio, houve um investimento consistente no Tutor Daniel Eustáquio e no Mestre Keith Markus.

Daniel encontrou seu caminho dentro do Programa Ving Tsun Experience e vem promovendo uma influência extremamente positiva por meio de seu exemplo. Sua maturidade para as artes marciais parece, à primeira vista, incompatível com alguém de apenas 22 anos. Contudo, talvez não seja para alguém pertencente à Linhagem Moy Yat, especialmente quando consideramos os exemplos do próprio Patriarca Moy Yat e do Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura (foto acima).

O poderoso exemplo de Daniel tocou de maneira ainda mais intensa o aluno Nathan de Assis, também integrante do Programa Ving Tsun Experience. Após quatro anos no Programa, Nathan solicitou sua entrada na Família Kung Fu, pedindo que o Tutor Daniel fosse seu apresentador.

Nathan pôde se apoiar, a todo momento, em uma sólida fundação construída ao longo de sua jornada de quatro anos no Programa Ving Tsun Experience, somada à sua disposição genuína para viver profundamente as experiências proporcionadas por esse Programa.

E foi esse jovem membro da Família Kung Fu que, em uma reunião entre discípulos da qual participava apenas como convidado, ao perceber o silêncio diante de uma necessidade organizacional, rompeu o silêncio: “Eu posso ser o organizador”.

Para alguém recém-admitido na Família Kung Fu, se oferecer para assumir a organização da celebração de dez anos de uma Família na qual acabara de ingressar poderia soar como petulância e eu aceitar poderia ser irresponsabilidade. Porém, Nathan é, por natureza, aquilo que nos COMANDOS do Exército Brasileiro se costuma chamar de alguém que é “vibrador”. Quando faço perguntas a ele como “Tem certeza?” ou “Está tudo bem com você, Nathan?” são respondidas com um firme e enérgico: “Sim, Si Fu!”.

Muitas vezes era possível perceber o medo em seus olhos, contrastando com a força presente em sua voz.

Levei algum tempo para tomar minha decisão, mas escolhi acreditar no espírito transmitido por aquela voz. Um mês depois, o Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura atravessava a porta de entrada.

The Ving Tsun Experience Programme has made a significant difference in my career. Over the past three and a half years, there has been consistent investment in Tutor Daniel Eustáquio and Master Keith Markus.

Daniel found his path within the Ving Tsun Experience Programme and has been exerting an extremely positive influence through his example. His maturity in martial arts appears, at first glance, incompatible with someone who is only 22 years old. However, perhaps not for someone within the Moy Yat Lineage, especially when we consider the examples of Patriarch Moy Yat himself and Grandmaster Leo Imamura (pictured above).

Daniel’s powerful example resonated even more deeply with student Nathan de Assis, also a member of the Ving Tsun Experience Programme. After four years in the Programme, Nathan requested to enter the Kung Fu Family, asking for Tutor Daniel to be his sponsor.

At every stage, Nathan was able to rely on a solid foundation built over his four-year journey within the Ving Tsun Experience Programme, combined with his genuine willingness to fully engage in the experiences provided by the Programme.

It was this young member of the Kung Fu Family who, during a disciples’ meeting which he attended merely as a guest, broke the silence when faced with an organisational need: “I can be the organiser.”

For someone who had only just been admitted into the Kung Fu Family, volunteering to take responsibility for organising the tenth-anniversary celebration of a family he had only just joined might have seemed presumptuous, and for me to accept it could have been irresponsible. However, Nathan is, by nature, what in the Commando of the Brazilian Army is referred to as someone who is a “high-energy doer”.

When I ask him questions such as “Are you sure?” or “Are you alright, Nathan?”, he responds with a firm and energetic: “Yes, Si Fu!”

It was often possible to perceive fear in his eyes, contrasting with the strength present in his voice.

It took me some time to make my decision, but I chose to trust the spirit conveyed by that voice. One month later, Grandmaster Leo Imamura walked through the entrance door.

Quando o Si Gung entrou, eu estava bastante nervoso. Para mim, era uma grande honra, e eu me preocupava com qualquer coisa que pudesse sair errado ou parecer inadequada. Fazia tempo que eu não me sentia assim. Sempre considerei minha autoconfiança sólida, mas naquele momento eu me sentia como um garoto inseguro.

Isso também ocorria porque, no meio daquela semana, ainda havia muitas coisas a serem feitas e, em determinado momento, o Mo Gun estava em um nível de bagunça que eu “travei”. Liguei para o Si Gung, e ele comentou que não estava compreendendo o meu ponto. Expliquei a ele que, se eu fizesse tudo sozinho, conseguiria resolver tudo a tempo, mas que, se fizesse isso, conceitualmente, como Si Fu, essa ação não faria sentido. Ele então respondeu de forma simples: “Ué… deixa assim”.

O Si Gung fez algumas orientações para promover a conscientização da minha Família, mas “deixar”? Como eu poderia recebê-lo com o Mo Gun em um estado tão desorganizado? Pela primeira vez em três anos e meio, eu me via diante da possibilidade de não obedecer o Si Gung.

Quando desliguei o telefone, sabia que não conseguiria fazer o que ele orientou, mas também não fazia sentido fazer tudo sozinho. Naquele momento, percebi que, como mobilizador de pessoas dentro da Dimensão Kung Fu, eu ainda era um iniciante.

Me lembrei então do Si Gung chamando minha atenção, com veemência, durante uma prática dois anos antes: "É impressionante! Você sempre pensa no pior”.

When Si Gung entered, I was quite nervous. It was a great honour for me, and I was concerned about anything that might go wrong or appear inappropriate. It had been a long time since I had felt that way. I have always considered my self-confidence to be solid, yet in that moment I felt like an insecure boy.

This was also because, in the middle of that week, there were still many things to be done and, at a certain point, the Mo Gun had reached such a state of disorganisation that I “froze”. I called Si Gung, and he said that he was not fully understanding my point.

I explained that if I did everything myself, I would be able to get it done in time, but that if I did so, conceptually, as a Si Fu, that action would not make sense. He then replied simply: “Well… just leave it as it is.”

Si Gung offered some guidance aimed at raising awareness within my Family, but “leave it”? How could I receive him with the Mo Gun in such a disorganised state? For the first time in three and a half years, I found myself facing the possibility of not obeying Si Gung.

When I hung up the phone, I knew I would not be able to follow his instruction, but it also made no sense to do everything on my own. In that moment, I realised that, as a facilitator of people within the Kung Fu Dimension, I was still a beginner.

 I then recalled Si Gung’s forceful remark during a training session two years earlier: “You always expect the worst of things.”

O Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura percorreu cada cômodo acompanhado dos presentes naquela manhã, proporcionando um momento muito especial ao dedicar seu tempo para passar o final de semana conosco. Esse tipo de suporte é verdadeiramente inestimável.

Com essa visita, recebemos o Grão-Mestre no Polo de Acesso, celebramos os dez anos da Família Kung Fu com sua presença, realizamos a reafirmação discipular de Filipe Lima e vivenciamos diversos momentos de Vida Kung Fu, com o apoio dos Mestres Seniores Fabio Gomes, Geraldo Monnerat e Felipe Soares.

O Si Gung (Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura) comentou sobre a disposição de alguns itens, os critérios utilizados para essa organização, e também fizemos perguntas sobre a mesa ancestral, o que deve ser colocado nela, a parede principal e a disposição do Muk Yan Jong.

Si Gung respondia a tudo com grande tranquilidade e paciência. Cada observação feita por ele surgia sempre como uma solução inteligente para algo que eu ainda não havia considerado. Dessa forma, ele me preservava, e suas sugestões soavam como complementares ao que já estava sendo realizado, e não como apontamentos de erro.

Foi uma experiência extremamente impressionante. Nesse momento, pude vislumbrar uma possibilidade de futuro em que eu também seja capaz de agir com esse nível de sutileza.

Grandmaster Leo Imamura walked through every room, accompanied by those present that morning, offering a very special moment by dedicating his time to spend the weekend with us. This kind of support is truly invaluable.

With this visit, we welcomed the Grandmaster to the Rio de Janeiro Access Hub, celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Kung Fu Family in his presence, carried out the disciple reaffirmation of Filipe Lima, and experienced various moments of Kung Fu Life, supported by Senior Masters Fabio Gomes, Geraldo Monnerat, and Felipe Soares.

Si Gung (Grandmaster Leo Imamura) commented on the arrangement of certain items and the criteria behind their placement. We also asked questions about the ancestral table, what should be placed upon it, the main wall, and the positioning of the Muk Yan Jong.

Si Gung responded to everything with great calmness and patience. Each observation he made consistently emerged as an intelligent solution to something I had not yet considered. In this way, he protected me, and his suggestions felt complementary to what was already being done, rather than indications of error.

It was an extremely impressive experience. In that moment, I was able to glimpse a possible future in which I, too, am capable of acting with that level of subtlety.

O momento mais marcante para mim foi o tempo que o Si Gung (foto) dedicou à mesa ancestral.

Existe, por parte do Si Gung, uma busca constante por sustentar a medida que impede a força da Linhagem de colapsar em sua ramificação. Acho que se trata de uma intenção de agir sem romper a relação com o Patriarca Moy Yat, garantindo que aquilo que é transmitido permaneça legítimo.

Para mim, foi particularmente importante que meus discípulos presenciassem esse momento tão especial, que evidenciava, “ao vivo”, o que o próprio Si Gung chama de “continuidade criterial da relação”. Isso permitiu que compreendessem que coisas como: sucesso, eficácia, vitória , bens, etc... deve ser sempre consequência, e nunca critério.

Em relação à situação da bagunça no Mo Gun durante a semana que antecedeu a visita dele, o Si Gung, durante nossa conversa por telefone, buscava me orientar no sentido de que, como descendente dessa linhagem, é fundamental compreender que conter o incorreto é mais importante do que “fabricar o correto”.

Ou seja, mais relevante do que “maquiar” a realidade para que tudo pareça em ordem é permitir que os membros da Família lidem com suas próprias escolhas, de modo que possam desenvolver algo muito mais raro: a capacidade de permanecer corretos no tempo, na relação e na situação concreta, sempre a partir da mesma e silenciosa medida.

The most striking moment for me was the time Si Gung (photo above) dedicated to the ancestral table.

There is, on the part of Si Gung, a constant effort to sustain the measure that prevents the strength of the Lineage from collapsing into fragmentation. I believe this reflects an intention to act without breaking the relationship with Patriarch Moy Yat, ensuring that what is transmitted remains legitimate.

For me, it was particularly important that my disciples were able to witness this very special moment, which made visible, “in real time”, what Si Gung himself calls the “criterial continuity of the relationship”. This allowed them to understand that things such as success, effectiveness, victory, wealth, etc., must always be consequences, and never criteria.

Regarding the situation of disorder at the Mo Gun during the week preceding his visit, Si Gung, during our telephone conversation, was guiding me in the sense that, as a descendant of this lineage, it is essential to understand that containing what is incorrect is more important than “manufacturing what is correct”.

In other words, more relevant than “masking” reality so that everything appears in order is allowing members of the Family to deal with their own choices, so that they may develop something far more rare: the ability to remain correct in time, in relationship, and in concrete situations, always from the same silent measure.
