3 YEARS OF THE MOY FAT LEI FAMILY FROM MOY JO LEI OU CLAN.

A Família Moy Fat Lei completou três anos, e para mim ainda é incrível, pois já parece que é muito mais. Pois com tantas coisas que vivemos em cada um destes anos, parece que foram "muitas vidas" que se passaram.
Não é possível estabelecer um início para a Família Moy Fat Lei que não seja arbitrário. Portanto, desta vez, vou contar a partir do dia 29 de Agosto de 2015, quando fui titulado Mestre classe Qualificado, e um dos símbolos de legitimidade que recebi foi o "Jiu Paai" que aparece na foto, e que me permitiria iniciar minha Família Kung Fu...

The Moy Fat Lei Family has completed three years, and for me it is still amazing, as it already seems that it is much more. For with so many things that we live in each of these years, it seems that they were "many lives" that have passed.
It is not possible to establish a start for the Moy Fat Lei Family that is not arbitrary. So, this time, I will count on August 29, 2015, when I was titled Qualified Class Master, and one of the symbols of legitimacy I received was "Jiu Paai" that appears in the photo, and that would allow me to start my Family Kung Fu...

Começamos a pisar num terreno completamente novo a partir daquela noite. Abrir uma Família naquele momento, seria também inaugurar uma nova geração na America Latina. E se levasse em conta o até então "Clã Moy Yat Sang", seria o primeiro caso desta Linhagem no mundo.
Talvez por isso, Si Fu tenha me pedido que não pendurasse o Jiu Paai imediatamente: "Depois que pendurar, começa. Espera um pouco...Observa...Sente... Depois você começa..." . Eu não estava nem um pouco ansioso. E assim o fiz...

We started to tread on a completely new terrain from that night. To open a Family at that moment, would also inaugurate a new generation in Latin America. And if you take into account the  "Clan Moy Yat Sang", would be the first case of this lineage in the world.
Maybe that's why Si Fu asked me not to hang Jiu Paai right away: "After you hang it, it will start. Wait a little ... Watch ... Feel it ... Then you start ...". I was not at all anxious. And so I did ...

Foi então que em 23 de Dezembro de 2015, numa noite quente no bairro do Méier em nosso primeiro Mo Gun, que pendurei o Jiu Paai da Família Moy Fat Lei na parede e sentei-me na mesma ocasião pela primeira vez na cadeira reservada ao Si Fu do local. Na ocasião, apenas meus irmãos Kung Fu estavam presentes, já que eu ainda não tinha To Dai.

It was then that on December 23, 2015, on a hot night in the Méier neighborhood on our first Mo Gun, that I hung Jiu Paai of the Moy Fat Lei Family on the wall and I sat on the same occasion for the first time in the chair reserved for Si Fu of the place. At the time, only my Kung Fu brothers were present, since I still did not have To Dai.

Menos de um mês depois, recebi a visita de meu Si Fu e meu Si Gung, para a segunda inauguração do Jiu Paai da Família Moy Fat Lei. O sonho das artes marciais de Si Gung que começara bem antes de 1987 quando ingressou na Família Moy Yat, e que passou por Si Fu que com fibra o preserva desde 1993 quando começou a atuar profissionalmente. Agora caia sobre os meus ombros.
Por alguma razão misteriosa, eu sabia que não estava a altura do desafio, mas estava disponível para me tornar capaz de estar.

Less than a month later, I received a visit from my Si Fu and my Si Gung to the second inauguration of Jiu Paai of the Moy Fat Lei Family. Si Gung's martial arts dream that began well before 1987 when he joined the Moy Yat Family, and who passed through Si Fu who with fiber preserves it since 1993 when he began to teach professionally. Foi simplesmente incrível a sorte em receber como To Dai um grupo tão maravilhoso logo de cara! Pedrinho(foto), Jaque, Vitor, Luan, André Torres e Pavioti foram os primeiros membros de uma Família de Décima Segunda Geração no agora Grande Clã Moy Yat Sang.
O pioneirismo de nossa Família teve um preço alto em vários momentos, mas minha sorte é tamanha, que cada uma destas pessoas, depositou 100% de seu coração em cada momento.

The first Moy Fat Lei Family Ceremony took place in April 2016, but the Family had already had five members since March 6 of the same year. It was simply amazing to be able to receive such a wonderful group as To Dai! Pedrinho (photo), Jaque, Vitor, Luan, André Torres and Pavioti were the first members of a Thirteenth Generation Family in the now Great Clan Moy Yat Sang.
The pioneering spirit of our Family has come at a high price in several moments, but my luck is so great that each one of them deposited 100% of their heart in every moment.

É preciso agradecer aos meus irmãos Kung Fu Rodrigo Moreira, Clayton Meireles e Fabiosa, que se mantiveram presentes no primeiro ano da Família e parte do segundo. Isso possibilitou com que os membros de minha Família, pudessem se inspirar em membros que fazem as coisas com muito coração. E prontos para a terceira Cerimônia daquele ano, Alan Farias, Thiago Quental, Keith Markus e Filipe Lima. Já eram mais alguns dos nomes de pessoas fora-de-série que se uniram e se uniriam à ela.

It is necessary to thank my Kung Fu brothers Rodrigo Moreira, Clayton Meireles and Fabiosa, who were present in the first year of the Family and part of the second. Si Fu gentilmente cedeu a cadeira reformada com tanto carinho pela minha irmã Kung Fu Paula Gama em meados dos anos 2000 que é reservada à ele, o Líder da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou, para que eu a ocupasse. Com isso, ele sentou-se a minha esquerda, ocupando o lugar do Si Gung.
Era a primeira vez que uma configuração assim na Linhagem Moy Yat ocorria na América Latina.

By the way, at the second ceremony of the Moy Fat Lei Family, in which Alan and Quental were admitted. It was very special the moment when I occupied the chair reserved for Si Fu, but not that of my Mo Gun, but the Mo Gun of my Si Fu, of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family.
Si Fu kindly gave up the chair so lovingly reformed by my sister Kung Fu Paula Gama in the mid-2000s that it was reserved for him, Family Leader of Moy Jo Lei Ou  Family, so that I could occupy it. With that, he sat to my left, taking the place of Si Gung.
It was the first time that such a configuration in the Moy Yat Lineage occurred in Latin America.

Quando a Família completou um ano de existência, foi realizada uma Cerimônia com a presença de Si Gung. Nela, pela primeira vez tínhamos o Si Fu, o Si Gung, e o Si Taai Gung na mesma Cerimônia.
Mais uma vez, naquela Cerimônia onde os queridos Renato Madeira, Poliana Madeira, Luiz Grativol e Caroline Archanjo ingressaram na Família. Criávamos algo novo a cada passo que dávamos, e talvez o pioneirismo fosse mesmo a vocação da Família Moy Fat Lei.

When the Family completed one year of existence, a Ceremony was held with the presence of Si Gung. In it, for the first time we had Si Fu, Si Gung, and Si Taai Gung in the same Ceremony.
Once again, at that Ceremony where the beloved Renato Madeira, Poliana Madeira, Luiz Grativol and Caroline Archanjo joined the Family. We created something new every step we took, and perhaps the pioneering spirit was even the vocation of the Moy Fat Lei Family.

When Keith and Filipe were admitted into the Family, I received from Si Fu a picture of the "Guan Yun". This figure in Chinese Classical Culture represents the ultimate symbol of loyalty. That was an unsurpassed honor for many reasons. But it was truly exciting to receive, for life, Jaque, Vitor, and Keith as the first lifetime members of the Moy Fat Lei Family(PHOTO)

Fazer escolhas ouvindo o coração, parece sempre ser a melhor forma de fazê-las. Sabíamos no dia daquele Baai Si, que estavamos por entrar num dos anos mais desafiadores de nossas vidas pessoais, talvez por coincidência. E tambén no ano mais difícil da Família Moy Fat Lei.

Making choices by listening to the heart, always seems the best way to do it. We knew on the day of that Baai Si that we were about to enter one of the most challenging years of our personal lives, perhaps coincidentally. And in the most difficult year of the Moy Fat Lei Family.

Pude entender de uma forma extremamente intensa, o que significa lealdade. E descobri mais uma grande vocação de nossa Família: A da entrega.

I could understand it in an extremely intense way, which means loyalty. And I discovered another great vocation of our Family: the one of the delivery.

Foi um momento de muitas perdas, mas a cada perda, mais a Família se unia, mais pessoas especiais se juntavam, e mais vínculos iam se formando e se fortalecendo. Era uma coisa inominável.

Lembrava de Si Fu em vários momentos. Talvez sua frase que mais me marcava naquele momento, era a ideia de que deveria torcer para tocar o "fundo do poço" o quanto antes, de maneira que pudesse iniciar a subida.
Ficamos sem Mo Gun, muitos membros se afastaram, mas os que ficaram se uniram ainda mais. Usávamos as residências dos membros da Família Moy Fat Lei,e novos valores foram surgindo nesse período.

I remembered Si Fu at various times. Perhaps his phrase that most marked me at that moment was the idea that I should hope to touch the bottom of the well as soon as possible, so that I could start the climb.
We ran out of Mo Gun, many of the members moved away, but those who remained joined forces. We used the residences of members of the Moy Fat Lei Family, and new values were emerging in that period.

E então começamos a subir... E ainda estamos subindo. Se a minha filha Jade, me pedisse, eu daria a mão pra ela,eu a esperaria mas nunca deixaria ela para trás. Eu não vou deixar você pra trás."

And then we start to rise ... And we're still going up. Si Fu, who, taking care of me and keeping my Family at all good and bad times, said something like: "Pereira, however much you ask, I will not leave you behind. I slow down, I do anything, so you can join us.If my daughter Jade asked me, I would give her my hand, I would wait for her but I would never leave her behind.I will not leave you behind. "

No dia 29 de Agosto de 2015(foto), me permiti me emocionar. Não tanto quanto pensei que fosse. Por dentro, sabia que meu desafio estava só começando.
Três anos depois, são sete membros vitalícios na Família Moy Fat Lei quando Filipe Lima, Luiz Grativol, Caroline Archanjo e Cayo Cesar fizeram o Baai Si no final de 2018. Além destes, uma série de outras pessoas tão especiais que fazem parte dessa Família, representam para mim, que nem nos meus melhores sonhos eu esperaria viver relações tão especiais. E que não importa o quanto o cenário mude no Mo Lam. O segredo para seguir em frente, sempre vai residir na Relação Si Fu-To Dai.

THE LATEST BAAI SI CEREMONY OF MOY JO LEI OU FAMILY

Começo meus Sábados encontrando Cayo na entrada do Mo Gun. Caminhamos juntos para a padaria de nossa preferência, e de vez em quando alguém se junta a nós. Conversamos um pouco sobre algum tema necessário ou algo do dia a dia, e quando o assunto se esgota, retornamos para o Mo Gun para começarmos as atividades.
Aquela manhã de Sábado seria bem cheia,e Cayo precisaria cuidar de tudo junto de Gio , sua irmã Kung Fu, para que eu pudesse me concentrar no que faltava ser feito para a Cerimônia de Discipulado que ocorreria algumas horas mais tarde.

I start every one of my Saturdays meeting Cayo at the entrance of the Mo Gun. We walk together to tour favorite bakery for breakfast , and from time to time someone joins us. We talked a little about some necessary subject or something from day to day, and when the matter runs out, we return to the Mo Gun to begin the activities.
That Saturday morning would be very crowded, and Cayo would have to take care of everything with Gio, his sister Kung Fu, so that I could concentrate on what was still to be done for the Discipleship Ceremony that would take place a few hours later.

O fim da tarde chegara, a caminho do Núcleo Barra íamos em meu carro: Meu irmão Kung Fu Rodrigo Moreira, Cayo Cesar e meu outro To Dai Matheus Alves.
Ao chegarmos lá, Cayo e Matheus subiram com a missão de fazer a instalação da aparelhagem de audio e video e Rodrigo foi cuidar daquilo que era responsável. Eu por minha vez, me dirigi sozinho para a praça de alimentação para trabalhar no "Estudo dos Nomes-Kung Fu" que apresentaria naquela noite.
Batia uma brisa fresca ali naquele local, e enquanto digitava, me perdi de todo o resto, e quando dei por mim, ouvi a familiar voz de Si Fu dizendo: "Tá fazendo o que aí sozinho Pereira?"
Si Fu havia descido com Rodrigo para acertar os últimos detalhes do roteiro e comprar algo para comer. Os dois subiram, mas eu fiquei ali por mais um tempo...

Late afternoon had arrived, on the way to the Si Fu´s school we would go in my car: My brother Kung Fu Rodrigo Moreira,my To Dai Cayo Cesar and my other To Dai Matheus Alves.
When we got there, Cayo and Matheus went up with the mission to install the audio and video equipment and Rodrigo went upstairs to take care of what he was responsible for. I in turn headed alone to the food court to work on the "Study of the Kung Fu Names" that I would present that night.
There was a cool breeze there, and as I typed, I lost all the rest, and when I found myself, I heard Si Fu's familiar voice saying, "What are you doing Pereira alone?"
Si Fu had gone down with Rodrigo to get the last details of the script and buy something to eat. They both went up, but I stayed there for a while ...

Si Fu e Si Mo receberiam mais dois membros vitalícios na Família Moy Jo Lei Ou: Carmen Maris e Rafael Pombo. Ambos começaram praticando no Programa Fundamental idealizado por Si Fu, e pouco tempo depois, eram convidados para iniciar o Processo Discipular.

Si Fu and Si Mo would receive two more lifetime members in the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family: Carmen Maris and Rafael Pombo. Both began practicing in the Fundamental Program idealized by Si Fu, and shortly after, they were invited to initiate the Discipleship Process.

Lembro claramente da antiga sensação de que para ser convidado para o Baai Si, era quase que uma espécie de merecimento. Era como se você precisasse demonstrar seu valor antes de ser convidado.
Si Fu conseguiu trazer um sentido maior para esse processo: Ao longo dos anos, se tornou mais evidente uma característica de "aposta" na relação que pedia para ser iniciada. E mais tarde, pôde-se entender que se trata também de um sentimento que toca o coração de Si Fu.

I clearly remember the old feeling that to be invited to the Baai Si, it was almost a kind of merit. It was as if you needed to demonstrate your worth before being invited.
Si Fu was able to bring a greater sense to this process: Over the years, a characteristic of "betting" on the relationship that it asked to be initiated became more evident. And later, it could be understood that it is also a feeling that touches the heart of Si Fu.

Então, graças a esse entendimento mais aprofundado de Si Fu sobre o processo discipular. Vem sendo possível ocorrerem "Cerimônias de Baai Si" que são muito consistentes, logo no início da trajetória do praticante.Isso permite com que façamos uma divisão clara de graus relacionais em nosso Clã.
Além disso, esse tipo de movimento de Si Fu que não é de agora, inspirou-me a fazer o mesmo em minha Família Kung Fu. Pois como essa cultura está se fortalecendo cada vez mais em nosso Clã, o Processo Discipular passa a ser visto com cada vez mais naturalidade e com cada vez mais força.

So, thanks to this deeper understanding of Si Fu about the discipleship process. It is possible to have "Baai Si ceremonies" that are very consistent, early in the trajectory of the practitioner. This allows us to make a clear division of relational degrees in our Clan.
Also, this kind of movement of Si Fu that is not from now, inspired me to do the same in my Kung Fu Family. For as this culture is growing stronger in our Clan, the Disciple Process is seen with ever more naturalness and with more and more strength.

Um outro destaque dessa Cerimônia, foi a participação de nossa Si Mo(foto). A Cerimônia de Carmen e Rafael, marcam exatamente a chegada de duas pessoas que se relacionaram com ela desde seus primeiros momentos \ao pisarem no Mo Gun pela primeira vez até a Cerimônia.
Foi possível perceber o quão intensos eram os sentimentos de Si Mo naquele momento. Isso ficou visível não só em suas palavras, mas nos abraços que deu em cada um.

Another highlight of this Ceremony was the participation of our Si Mo (photo). Carmen and Rafael's Ceremony marks exactly the arrival of two people who have been in contact with her since their first moments when they stepped on the Mo Gun for the first time until the Ceremony.
It was possible to see how intense Si Mo's feelings were at that moment. This was visible not only in her words, but in the embraces she gave in each one.

Si Fu estuda sempre de forma mais profunda qualquer que seja o tema, e mais do que isso, nos convida a fazer o mesmo. Sobre as Cerimônias de nosso Clã, Si Fu sempre nos mobiliza a entender o papel do símbolo em cada etapa de um ato cerimonial, e como se apoiar nele para gerar aprendizado. Também nos chama a atenção para o nosso papel em qualquer que seja a ocasião, inclusive uma Cerimônia.

Si Fu always studies in a deeper way whatever the theme, and more than that, invites us to do the same. Regarding the Ceremonies of our Clan, Si Fu always mobilizes us to understand the role of the symbol in each step of a ceremonial act, and how to rely on it to generate learning. It also draws our attention to our role in whatever occasion, including a Ceremony.

A presença de dignatários do círculo marcial nos eventos de uma outra Família Kung Fu, serve para uma série de coisas. Uma delas, é a de se fazer presente para o "Mo Lam". Isso ocorre porque a realidade do círculo marcial é muito dinâmica e muda a todo o momento. Saber se fazer presente, se torna uma forma de arte. Outro ponto interessante, é o reconhecimento do círculo marcial de um determinado acontecimento de uma Família Kung Fu. Por isso também, se deixar ou não registrar em um determinado evento,ou aparecer ou não, falam também do quanto o dignatário em questão reconhece determinado trabalho em determinados contextos.
Num círculo marcial tão rico quanto o nosso, se fazer presente, tem sido algo muito característico na conduta de Si Fu ao longo dos anos.

The presence of martial circle dignitaries in the events of another Kung Fu Family serves a number of things. One of them is to be present for the "Mo Lam". Uma das gratas surpresas da noite, foi o momento em que Si Fu presenteou a esposa do Daai Si Hing, minha Si Je Catia(FOTO) Reis com um "Nome-Kung Fu". Si Fu teria falado que no momento em que o Daai Si Hing fez seu Baai Si em 2006 se tornando um membro vitalício, para ele naquele momento, era como se a Si Je Cátia também o tivesse feito.
Todos ficaram muito felizes com aquele momento, e claro! A própria Si Je Cátia também!

One of the pleasant surprises of the night was the moment when Si Fu presented Daai Si Hing's wife, my Si Je Catia Reis(PHOTO) with a "Kung Fu Name". Si Fu would have said that by the time Daai Si Hing made his Baai Si in 2006 becoming a special student(Disciple) , to him at that moment, it was as if Si Je Cátia had also done so.
Everyone was very happy with that moment, of course! Si Je Cátia herself too!

Uma pessoa interessada em começar a praticar no Núcleo Méier faltou e quando encostei o carro na entrada do Mo Gun, me deparei com Matheus me esperando. Convidei-o para me acompanhar até meu local favorito para passar o tempo no Méier: O Café Zoro no Imperator. Lá, passamos quase três horas fazendo um estudo sobre os três novos "Nomes-Kung Fu" que seriam apresentados aquela noite. Me surpreendeu a perspicácia de Matheus para lidar com os ideogramas e suas possibilidades, assim convidei ele para me ajudar na apresentação dos "Nomes Kung Fu".

A person interested in starting to practice at the Méier school did not show up and when I leaned against the entrance of the Mo Gun, I came across Matheus waiting for me. I invited him to accompany me to my favorite place to spend my time in Méier: The Zoro Café at Imperator Cultural Center. There, we spent almost three hours doing a study of the three new "Kung Fu Names" that would be presented that night. I was amazed by Matheus's insight into dealing with the ideograms and its possibilities, so I invited him to assist me in presenting the "Kung Fu Names."

Tirando duas frases, tudo que apresentei naquela noite, veio das interpretações de Matheus. Para que ele não ficasse parado ao meu lado apenas, lhe fiz mais um desafio: Ao final da Cerimônia, listei alguns tópicos que achava importante que fossem colocados na abertura, e pedi que ele fizesse e a realizasse. E foi bem bacana vê-lo falar na frente de todos naquela noite.

Taking two sentences, everything I presented that night, came from Matheus' interpretations. In order for him not to stand next to me doing nothing, I challenged him again: At the end of the Ceremony, I listed some topics that I thought were important to be placed in the opening, and asked him to do it. And it was cool to see him talking in front of everyone that night.

Si Fu costuma dizer que essa apresentação dos "Nomes-Kung Fu", é muito importante que seja feita por um discípulo que não ele. Isso ocorre, porque ele não conversa comigo em momento algum no preparo da apresentação. Si Fu toma muito cuidado para não "tornar oficial" um estudo feito e apresentado por mim, para que isso não diminua a busca daqueles que receberam o nome, por demais significados. Apesar disso, Si Fu diz que ele legitima em todas as vezes as apresentações que realizo.

Si Fu often says that this "Kung-Fu-Names" presentation, it is very important that it be done by a disciple other than him. A LIFETIME CHI SAU: SI FU´S SECRET FOR CHI SAU.

Imagine a música "Who wants to live forever" do Queen tocando agora... Um dia frio, porém com os fortes raios de sol... Um caminho beirando um rio de águas límpidas com um chão de pedrinhas. À sua esquerda, muito verde: grama cortada, árvores frondosas e pessoas passando como se nada mais existisse no mundo... Essa era a cena à beira do Rio Limmat na Suiça naquela Terça de Março de 2019. Vez ou outra meus olhos marejavam... Nunca me imaginei numa paisagem tão incrível quanto aquela. E de fato era emocionante... Então Si Fu parou, sentou-se num banco daqueles de praça diante ao incomparável Rio que corta a cidade de Zurich e disse: "Vamos fazer um pouco de Chi Sau".

Occasionally my eyes were full of tears ... I never imagined myself in a landscape as incredible as that. And indeed it was exciting ... So Si Fu stopped, sat on a bench  in front of the incomparable River that cuts the city of Zurich and said: "Let's do some Chi Sau."

"...A Linha Central, na realidade é o conjunto de duas linhas perpendiculares , uma na vertical que divide o plano frontal do corpo ao meio e outro na horizontal que sai da altura do peito para a frente, indo até o alcance máximo do braço. Desta forma , temos mais do que apenas duas linhas, passamo a ter um plano e é justamente este plano que servirá de referência para todos os movimentos do praticante de Ving Tsun..." Vulgarmente conhecido como "Chi Sau", é o componente associado do Sistema Ving Tsun mais conhecido, e muitas vezes mal interpretado. Uma de suas funções é trazer à consciência do praticante, a possibilidade de ocupação do que chamamos de "Linha Central" . Conceito que meu Si Fu descreve em trecho do seu livro acima.

"... The Central Line, is actually a set of two perpendicular lines, one vertical that divides the frontal plane of the body in half and another horizontally out from chest height to the front, going up to the maximum range of arm. Thus, we have more than just two lines, we spend to have a plan and it is precisely this plan will serve as a reference for all movements of Ving Tsun practitioner ... Commonly known as "Chi Sau". It  is the associated component from the Ving Tsun System wich is best known and often misunderstood. One of its functions is to bring the practitioner awareness of the possibility of occupation of what we call "Centerline". Concept my Si Fu describes in his book excerpt above.

Poxa, eu queria que todos em algum momento pudessem sentir o que sentia naquele momento... Ou quem sabe, algo que seja tão marcante para cada um de vocês!
As pessoas passavam e olhavam sem entender bem, e isso me deixou um pouco tímido. Além disso, precisava me concentrar para não "enrijecer" o Chi Sau e deixá-lo "Brigado". Precisava prestar atenção ao Claudio para fazer isso, mas também tinha todo o sentimento por estar ali, naquele lugar, naquele momento...

Wow, I wanted everyone at some point to feel what I felt at that moment ... Or who knows, something that is so remarkable for each one of you!
People passed by and looked at me without understanding, and that made me a bit shy. Besides, I had to concentrate so I would let my Chi Sau with brute force. I had to pay attention to Claudio to do this, but I also had the feeling that I was there, in that place, at that moment ...

Tudo começou dois dias antes, ainda no quarto do flat em Oeiras(FOTO), freguesia de Lisboa, naquela tarde de Domingo quando precisamos reajustar nossa agenda em função de termos precisado comprar uma nova passagem de avião para meu irmão Kung Fu e acertar as coisas com o até então misterioso hotel em Varsóvia.
Quando comecei lá atrás, sempre que Si Fu tocava em mim para fazer alguma demonstração, mas principalmente para me explicar qualquer coisa, pensava: "O braço dele é meio gordinho." - Aquele braço "goridnho" do Si Fu, tinha algumas características engraçadas: Ele fazia você acreditar que estava leve, de repente, enchia com uma energia precisa e assertiva. E  ele ia variando essas informações e de repente você estava na mão dele...

It all started two days earlier, still in the room of the flat in Oeiras (FOTO), a district of Lisbon, that Sunday afternoon when we need to readjust our schedule because we had to buy a new plane ticket for my brother Kung Fu and get things right with the then mysterious hotel in Warsaw.
When I started my practice back there in the end of the 90´s, whenever Si Fu touched me to do some demonstration, but mainly to explain anything, I thought, "His arm is kind of chubby."- Si Fu's  arm had some funny features:He would make you believe his arms were light, suddenly filled with a precise and assertive energy. And he was varying this information and suddenly you were in his hand ...

Dezenove anos depois do meu primeiro Chi Sau, lá estavamos nós dois naquele quarto em Portugal. Si Fu estava completamente relaxado, eu por outro lado, tensionava, mesmo sem querer... E aí era quando Si Fu ocupava de fato o meio. Parecia que eu estava aprendendo Chi Sau naquele dia... Os mesmos braços gordinhos, a mesma energia que "não dá pra pegar"...

No Capítulo 5 de "Sun Zi" (ou Sun Tzu) encontramos o trecho:  " ...A capacidade de por em movimento o adversário , para manipulá-lo , consiste em conferir à situação uma "configuração" tal que o inimigo seja depois obrigado a segui-la. Para que ele siga, é preciso que veja de fato nisso uma vantagem, e é esta vantagem que lhe armo, aparentemente em meu detrenimento, mas o que conta, em realidade, é que ele segue, tornando-se dependente..."

Nineteen years after my first Chi Sau, we were both in that room in Portugal. Si Fu was completely relaxed, I on the other hand, I was tense, even unintentionally ... And that was when Si Fu actually occupied the middle. It seemed that I was learning Chi Sau that day ... The same arms, the same energy  ...

In Chapter 5 of "Sun Zi" (or Sun Tzu) we find the passage: "... The ability to set  the opponentin motion, to manipulate him, is to give the situation a" Configuration "such that the enemy is after obliged to follow it. for him to follow, he needs to see in fact it as an advantage, and it is this advantage that whe made for him, apparently trough our loss, but what counts, in fact, it is that he follows, becoming dependent..."

Talvez pelo momento, talvez pelo contexto, talvez pelo momento intimista... Si Fu levantou-se e demonstrou em nós, explicando o que vinha fazendo conosco desde cedo, sobre o segredo de seu Chi Sau...

Maybe for the moment, perhaps for the context, perhaps for the intimate moment ... Si Fu stood up and demonstrated in us, explaining what he had been doing with us since early, about the secret of his Chi Sau ...

Existe uma lenda no Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou, de que para ser um Mestre, é preciso pintar um Mo Gun oito vezes. As obras de um Mo Gun são grandes eventos em que a Família toda participa, se propondo a fazer coisas que nunca fizeram. E os Mo Gun, tem a cara do Líder da Família que ali está alocada...
Os Mo Gun de Si Fu no início, tinham muito mais coisas penduradas e à mostra, como vemos nessa foto logo depois de ter sido titulado em 2003. Conforme os anos foram passando...

There is a legend in the Moy Jo Lei Ou Clan, that to be a Master, one must paint a Mo Gun eight times. The works of a Mo Gun are great events in which the whole Family participates, proposing to do things they have never done. And the Mo Gun, looks like the Family Leader who is there ...

Si Fu desenvolveu uma habilidade muito grande de preencher espaços de forma sutil e refinada, como vemos nessa foto de Janeiro de 2018 no Mo Gun atual da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou.
Por isso, por muitas vezes Si Fu me disse: "Você tem tendência a acumular coisas. Você precisa aprender a preencher com o vazio."

Si Fu has developed a very large ability to fill spaces in a subtle and refined way, as we see in this photo of January 2018 in the current Mo Gun of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family.
So often Si Fu tells me:"You have a tendency to accumulate things. You have to learn to fill with emptiness."

Percebi então que é esse mesmo preenchimento com o vazio, que Si Fu usa em todos os aspectos de sua liderança: Quando ele se retira por tempo suficiente da Direção do Núcleo Barra desde 2012 de forma com que novas lideranças possam surgir como: Guilherme de Farias, Thiago Silva, Carlos Antunes, André Guerra, Iuri e Clayton e por fim, Andre e Guuilherme novamente. Isso também é preencher com o vazio. É não tentar forçar, manipular, arquitetar... É aderir, apoiar e só depois propor..

Em Luxemburgo,alguns dias depois, numa manhã fria e com muito vento pelas ruas desertas da capital do último Ducado do planeta. Praticamos Chi Sau na rua mais uma vez. Dentro de mim, ainda que muitas pessoas parassem, batessem fotos, filmassem e comentassem, já conseguia apagar a presença de todas elas e não ficava mais tão tímido. Me esforçava para colocar em prática a lição aprendida com Si Fu sobre o seu Chi Sau naquele quarto em Oeiras... Mas era difícil... O próprio ato de buscar fazê-lo, me afastava ainda mais do que queria... Na foto acima por exemplo nas ruas de Luxemburgo, abro a Linha Central e meu irmão Kung fu parte para o ataque.

In Luxembourg, a few days later, on a cold, windy morning through the deserted streets of the capital of the last Duchy of the planet. We practiced Chi Sau on the street one more time. A vida parece ter uma poesia escondida em cada momento. Sempre que ouvia "Who wants to live forever" do Queen, pensava: "Ei! A música do Highlander!" - Mas hoje quando a ouço, penso em momentos como essa à beira do Rio Limmat na Suiça. Como diz um trecho da letra: "Não existe tempo para nós, não existe um lugar para nós. O que é essa coisa que constrói nossos sonhos, e ainda assim nos escapa?" - E é exatamente por não termos tempo, que momentos como esses, quando vistos de forma colorida e intensa, se tornam únicos.
E se eu consegui ou não colocar em prática o segredo do Chi Sau de Si Fu... Bem... Isso não importa, o que fica, é o Chi Sau de uma vida: à beira do Rio Limmat, com meu Si Fu e meu irmão Kung Fu.

Life seems to have poetry hidden in every moment. Whenever I used to listen to Queen's "Who wants to live forever", I would thought, "Hey, Highlander's soundtrack!" - But today as I listen to it, I think of times like this on the edge of the Limmat River in Switzerland. As one excerpt says: "There is no time for us, there is no place for us. What is this thing that builds our dreams , and yet slips away from us? " - And it is precisely because we do not have time, that moments like these, when seen in a colorful and intense way, become unique.
And if I succeeded or failed to put into practice the secret of Si Fu's Chi Sau ... Well ... It does not matter, what remains, is the Chi Sau of a lifetime: on the edge of the Limmat River, with my Si Fu and my Kung Fu brother.

FUNDAMENTAL PROGRAM: SATURDAY MORNING PRACTICE WITH SI FU

Sentava-me num batente do segundo pavimento do Mo Gun esperando amanhecer. Ouvia nos fones de ouvido "Summer Breeze" do Seals and Crofts. É que eu tinha acabado de me despedir do meu irmão Kung fu Rodrigo, e achei que seria melhor esperar o dia clarear do que dormir.
Talvez a nostálgica melodia do hit setentista ou simplesmente o cansaço tenham me feito apagar e acordar a tempo de me preparar para o horário combinado com meus To Dai. Encontrei com Luiz, Caroline e Cayo e fomos juntos para a Barra da Tijuca onde ocorreriam três eventos importantes naquela manhã: O pré-evento da próxima Cerimônia de Baai Si da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou, uma nova atividade chamada "Kung Fu à mesa" e por fim, uma prática diretamente com Si Fu para nos preparar para o seminário que será ministrado por ele em Abril e que explico mais a frente.

I would sit on the second floor pavement of the Mo Gun waiting for dawn, listening to "Summer Breeze" by Seals and Crofts. It's just that I had just said goodbye to my brother Kung Fu Rodrigo, and I thought it would be better to wait for the sun rise in the horizon than to sleep.
Maybe the nostalgic melody of the hit or simply tiredness has made me sleep and wake up in time to prepare for the schedule combined with my To Dai. I met with Luiz, Caroline and Cayo and we went together to Barra da Tijuca where there would be three important events that morning: The pre-event of the next Baai Si Ceremony of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family, a new activity called "Kung Fu at the table" and finally, a practice directly with Si Fu to prepare us for the seminar that will be given by him in April and that I will explain later.

Fomos os primeiros a chegar no ponto de encontro. Mais tarde, os demais foram chegando. Para minha surpresa, Si Fu também apareceu, e a partir daí foi conduzindo o preparo para a Cerimônia de Discipulado de Carmen Maris e Rafael Pombo. 

No Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou, chamamos de "Processo Discipular", cinco etapas que são: O convite formal, a cerimônia de Baai Si, a entrega do "Nome-Kung fu",a entrega da certificação da MYVTMI e a inserção do novo membro vitalício na árvore genealógica do Sistema. Naquele Sábado, estávamos preparando a segunda etapa.

We were the first to arrive at the meeting point. Later, the others arrived. To my surprise, Si Fu also appeared, and from there he was conducting the preparation for the Discipleship Ceremony of Carmen Maris and Rafael Pombo.
In the Moy Jo Lei Ou Clan , we call the "Discipleship Process", five stages which are: The formal invitation, the Baai Si ceremony, the delivery of the "Kung Fu Name", the delivery of the MYVTMI certification and the insertion of the new member for the Family tree of the System. That Saturday, we were preparing the second stage.

"Kung Fu à mesa" é um instrumento exclusivo do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou até o momento, no qual é agendada uma refeição com um tema pré-definido ou não por àqueles que estarão presentes.

 Naquela manhã de Sábado em particular, Si Fu perguntou se tínhamos ainda algo a resolver sobre a preparação da Cerimônia. Carmen e Rafael tinham algumas dúvidas, e Si Fu transformou estas questões num estudo sobre a lógica do Kung Fu nas coisas. Acredito que para mim a conversa sobre a vestimenta adequada para uma Cerimônia de "Baai Si", tenha sido o destaque daquele café. Isso porque, Si fu desdobrou o tema de uma forma natural e não planejada. Foi algo bem enriquecedor de assistir. 

"Kung Fu at the table" is an exclusive instrument of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Clan so far, in which is scheduled a meal with a pre-defined theme or not by those who will be present.
  On that particular Saturday morning, Si Fu asked if we still had something to decide about the preparation of the Ceremony. Carmen and Rafael had some questions, and Si Fu turned these questions into a study of the logic of Kung Fu in things. I believe that for me the talk about the appropriate dress for a Baai Si Ceremony was the highlight of that cafe. That's because, Si fu unfolded the theme in a natural and unplanned way. It was very enriching to watch.

"O Programa Fundamental do Sistema Ving Tsun do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou" é baseado na experiência pessoal do Si Fu, que elegeu, junto a alguns de seus mais experientes discípulos, temas teóricos e práticos considerados fundamentais ao Aspirante a membro da Família Kung Fu, preliminar ao seu ingresso em uma Família. Esse Programa, acaba por atuar como uma espécie de ferramenta de espera estratégica para a tomada de consciência e maturação de relação do praticante com o Si Fu, irmãos Kung Fu e com a Família como um todo. 

"The Fundamental Program of the Ving Tsun System of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Clan" is based on the personal experience of Si Fu, who, together with some of his most experienced disciples, chose the theoretical and practical themes considered fundamental to the aspirant as a member of the Kung Fu Family , prior to joining a Family. This Program ends up acting as a kind of strategic waiting tool for the awareness and maturation of the practitioner's relationship with Si Fu, Kung Fu brothers and the Family as a whole.

 

Estavam todos bem entusiasmados com o pré-evento do Seminário de Alinhamento Prático do Programa Fundamental, que visa a formação de novos instrutores deste Programa. 

Si Fu inicialmente não pretendia tomar a frente naquela manhã, mas parece que de alguma forma mudara de ideia. 

They were all very enthusiastic about the Pre-event of the Seminar of the Fundamental Program, which aims to train new instructors of this Program.Si Fu initially did not intend to take the lead that morning, but it seems that somehow he had changed his mind.

Depois de um tempo, Si Fu passou a condução do trabalho daquela manhã a mim e ao meu irmão Kung fu Claudio. Isso porque, ainda em Luxemburgo, havíamos passado algumas horas com ele trabalhando e desenvolvendo as atividades daquela manhã.

After a while, Si Fu passed the work that morning to me and my Kung Fu brother Claudio. That's because, still in Luxembourg, we had spent some hours with him working and developing that morning's activities.

Uma coisa que Si Fu sempre frisa no trabalho com o Programa Fundamental, é o fato de que os praticantes sorriem durante a prática. Naquela manhã, isso não foi diferente. Também é interessante notar a mudança de paradigma proposta por Si Fu com relação ao trabalho dentro deste Programa: "O que você faz com um tem que servir para dez ao mesmo tempo."

One thing that Si Fu always emphasizes in working with the Fundamental Program is the fact that practitioners smile during practice. That morning was no different. It is also interesting to note the paradigm shift proposed by Si Fu regarding the work within this Program: "What you do with one has to serve ten at the same time."

Na sequência daquela manhã cheia de aventuras, ainda pude almoçar com Si Fu, Si Mo e Julinha(foto) que é a filha mais nova de Si Fu. Fui com Julia numa livraria comprar um livro para sua prima Rebeka (filha de Si Suk Úrsula), que completava 11 aninhos naquela semana. 

Following that morning full of adventures, I was still able to have lunch with Si Fu, Si Mo and Julinha (photo) that is the youngest daughter of Si Fu. I went with Julia in a bookstore to buy a book for her cousin Rebeka (daughter of Si Suk Ursula), who was 11 years old that week.

Enquanto voltava para casa, sentia o sono bater. Resolvi que era melhor parar no bairro da minha mãe. Estava com sono para dirigir, mas sem sono para dormir completamente... Peguei meu walkman e fui caminhando cortar meu cabelo. Enquanto tocava "If you leave me now" da banda Chicago e eu caminhava pela Estrada do Pau-Ferro, tentava me perder em pensamentos sobre a vida, afinal, Sábado a tarde é o momento da semana em que mais relaxo. Apesar disso, minha mente ainda estava voltada para a impactante manhã que vivi com Si Fu e meus To Dai. 

As I was coming back home, I felt sleep falling. I decided it was best to stop in my mother's neighborhood. I was sleepy to drive, but not sleepy to sleep ... I put on my walkman headphones and went walking to cut my hair. While playing Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now" and I was walking down the Ironwood Road. I tried to lose myself in thoughts about life, after all, Saturday afternoon is the time of the week when I relax most. Despite this, my mind was still focused on the shocking morning I lived with Si Fu and my To Dai.

Lembrei-me então de 2005. Fiquei pensando nos grupos de amigos que tinha e de que nos juntávamos nos finais de semana e nos horários das aulas da faculdade para praticarmos nossas artes marciais juntos. Àquela altura, eu ainda não conseguia enxergar por completo a riqueza do Sistema Ving Tsun, por isso, me via obrigado a testar o que havia aprendido nestes grupos. 

Sabe, acho que se quando comecei a praticar o Ving Tsun, houvesse algo como o "Programa Fundamental", esse tipo de necessidade teria sido sanada. Não precisaria acordar tão cedo aos Domingos e nem perder tantas aulas de Botânica 2. 

Then I remembered the year of 2005. I kept thinking of the groups of friends I had and we would get together on weekends and at college classes to practice our martial arts together. At that point, I still could not fully see the richness of the Ving Tsun System, so I was forced to test what I had learned in these groups.
You know, I think if, when I started practicing Ving Tsun, there was something like the "Fundamental Program," that kind of need would have been healed. I would not have to wake up so early on Sundays and not miss out on Botany 2 classes so much at College.
