Espresso and Kung Fu with GM Leo Imamura at the airport

 

Era para ser um dia como qualquer outro, mas recebi um convite muito especial do Si Gung durante a noite de Domingo. Dizia ele que estaria no Aeroporto Santos Dumont com meu Si Suk Fabio Gomes, em função de ter finalizado dois dias de Workshop para empresários na cidade de Angra dos Reis. Antes de tomar o avião, Si Gung poderia dedicar tempo a quem quisesse estar com ele. Por ser um encontro no início da tarde de Segunda-feira, muitos não puderam se fazer presentes. Porém, estiveram comigo Matheus Alves [foto a esq] e Daniel Eustáquio[foto a dir]. Dois de meus discípulos, que junto comigo, e do Mestre Fabio Gomes, tiveram todo o tempo com o Grão Mestre Leo Imamura. 

Os temas das conversas durante esse encontro, foram muito diversificados, mas Si Gung passou por muitas vezes no tema que diz respeito ao profissionalismo e a como entender melhor a responsabilidade que temos enquanto Líderes de Famílias Kung Fu. Estes temas tem me tocado bastante, pois devido ao momento da minha carreira, estou em uma etapa com meus discípulos em que friso muito a importância de sermos bons profissionais independente da área que estejamos atuando. Muitas vezes, esta área coincide com o que de fato somos apaixonados por fazer. Porém, temos conversado muito que o fato de você amar o que faz, ou fazer apenas pela necessidade, não deveriam ser motivos para tratar com menos responsabilidade o que você tem para oferecer.

Si Gung também comentou sobre a importância de entender o tempo das coisas. Ele citou o quão bem sucedido havia sido o evento em Angra dos Reis e pediu que o Si Suk Fabio pudesse compartilhar um pouco. Si Gung sinalizou a conduta positiva de Si Suk Fabio Gomes, ao não reclamar para ele a condução desse evento. De fato, me recordo do Si Suk Fabio apenas dizer que ao saber do evento, pediu ao Si Gung apenas que o permitisse estar presente. 

Essa fala me tocou muito, pois me recordei de que antes de ser Líder de Família, nos momentos em que desejava acompanhar meu Si Fu em alguma ocasião, estava tudo apenas baseado no prazer de estar com ele. Conforme os anos foram passando e eu me tornei profissional e mais tarde, Líder de Família. Acabei tratando esses momentos muitas vezes, exclusivamente como uma questão de compromisso. Então, ao ouvir a pureza da intenção do Si Suk, fui inspirado a refletir profundamente sobre o que venho fazendo. 

It was supposed to be a day like any other, but I received a very special invitation from Si Gung during the night of Sunday. He said that he would be at Santos Dumont Airport with my Si Suk Fabio Gomes, due to having finished two days of Workshop for entrepreneurs in the city of Angra dos Reis. Before taking the plane, Si Gung could dedicate time to anyone who wanted to be with him. As it was an early afternoon meeting on Monday, many were unable to attend. However, Matheus Alves [left in the photo above] and Daniel Eustáquio [right in the photo above] were with me. They are two of my disciples, who together with me and Master Fabio Gomes, had all the time with Grand Master Leo Imamura.

The topics of conversations during this meeting were very diverse, but Si Gung went through many times on the topic that concerns professionalism and how to better understand the responsibility we have as Leaders of Kung Fu Families. These themes have touched me a lot, because due to the moment of my career, I am at a stage with my disciples in which I strongly emphasize the importance of being good professionals, regardless of the area in which we are working. Often this area coincides with what we are passionate about doing. However, we've been talking a lot that the fact that you love what you do, or do it just out of necessity, shouldn't be reasons to treat what you have to offer with less responsibility.

Si Gung also commented on the importance of understanding the timing of things. He mentioned how successful the event in Angra dos Reis had been and asked Si Suk Fabio to share a little. Si Gung signaled the positive conduct of Si Suk Fabio Gomes, by not complaining to him to conduct this event. In fact, I remember Si Suk Fabio just saying that when he found out about the event, he asked Si Gung just to allow him to be present.

This speech touched me a lot, because I remembered that before becoming a Family Leader, when I wanted to accompany my Si Fu on some occasion, everything was just based on the pleasure of being with him. As the years went by I became a professional and later a Family Leader. I ended up treating these moments almost every time exclusively as a matter of commitment. So, hearing the purity of Si Suk's intention, I was inspired to reflect deeply on what I've been doing.

Foram muitas horas juntos - “Você sabia que o 'National Kid' era brasileiro?” - Si Gung perguntou para mim - “Parece que ele era...” - Teria dito ele. 

E entre temas que envolviam nostalgia, genealogia do Sistema, histórias de artistas marciais brasileiros, compartilhamentos sobre o início do Si Gung nas artes marciais no Brasil, e muitos outros assuntos que causavam risadas e outros que eram sérios. O que mais me marcou ficou para o final. No caminho então para portão de embarque, carreguei a mala do Si Gung[foto acima] e quando fiz isso ele me abraçou. Ele me disse coisas muito importantes e desafiadoras enquanto caminhávamos. E assim, encerramos tendo certeza de que quando bem vivido. Um dia vale uma vida. 

There were many hours together - “Did you know that the 'National Kid' was Brazilian?” - Si Gung asked me - "It seems he was..." - He would have said. ['National Kid' was a japanese TV Show very popular in Brazil in the '60´s]

And among themes that involved nostalgia, genealogy of the System, stories of Brazilian martial artists, sharing about the beginning of Si Gung in martial arts in Brazil, and many other subjects that caused laughter and other times were very serious. What struck me the most was left for last. On the way to the boarding gate, I carried Si Gung's suitcase [photo above] and when I did that he hugged me. He told me very important and challenging things as we walked. And so, we close making sure that when lived well. One day is worth a lifetime.
