THE LAST JEDI: A KUNG FU PERSPECTIVE

Meu nome é Thiago Pereira, pratico uma arte marcial chinesa chamada Ving Tsun por duas décadas sob a tutela de Mestre Julio Camacho no Rio de Janeiro.
Desde 2007 escrevo minhas impressões dessa vida imersa no mundo das artes marciais chinesas, e dentre tantos textos, alguns foram sobre filmes que me chamaram a atenção. Mas apenas em 2017, ao assistir "Os últimos Jedi"(The Last Jedi,2017), algo tocou meu coração. Talvez por eu mesmo ter sido titulado Mestre desta arte a qual dediquei e dedico minha vida. Me encantei profundamente com a representação falha de Luke Skywalker.

My name is Thiago Pereira, I practice a Chinese martial art called Ving Tsun for two decades under the tutelage of Master Julio Camacho in Rio de Janeiro.
Since 2007 I write my impressions of this life immersed in the Chinese martial arts world, and among so many texts, some were about movies that caught my eye. But only in 2017, when watching "The Last Jedi" (2017) did something touched my heart. Perhaps because I myself have been titled Master of this art which I dedicated and dedicated my life. I was deeply enamored with Luke Skywalker's flawed performance.

Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura, é o Mestre de meu Mestre Julio Camacho. Ainda que com sua ascendência japonesa, pôde conviver por 14 anos com o Patriarca de nossa Linhagem : Patriarca Moy Yat . Ele se tornou uma das principais autoridades em Kung Fu, mais precisamente o Ving Tsun, na América do Sul desde os anos '80.
Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura diz em uma de suas entrevistas, que a figura estereotipada do Mestre advinda do cinema, não condiz com o que deveria acontecer de fato. O "Mestre" , é um ser humano que está completamente inserido na sociedade ao ponto de passar despercebido.

Grand Master Leo Imamura, is the Master of my Master Julio Camacho. Although with its Japanese ancestry, he was able to live for 14 years with the Patriarch of our Lineage: Patriarch Moy Yat. He became one of the leading authorities in Kung Fu, more precisely the Ving Tsun, in South America since the 1980s.
Grandmaster Leo Imamura says in one of his interviews that the stereotyped figure of the Master wich comes from the movies, does not match what should actually happen. The "Master" is a human being who is completely inserted into society to the point of going unnoticed.

Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura diz que "controlar" talvez seja uma palavra inapropriada para quando estamos tratando de emoções em situações de crise. Segundo ele, a palavra "gerenciar", talvez fosse mais apropriada. Desta forma, podemos entender que o "Mestre" por ter se dedicado com afinco ao desenvolvimento de seu "Kung Fu", terá mais condições de gerenciar suas emoções em situações em que  for requisitado.

Grandmaster Leo Imamura says that "to control" may be an inappropriate word for when we are dealing with emotions in crisis situations. According to him, the word "to manage" might be more appropriate. In this way, we can understand that the "Master" for having dedicated himself to the development of his "Kung Fu", will be better able to manage his emotions in situations where it is requested.

 Em "The Last Jedi"(2017), descobrimos que Luke Skywalker tentou restabelecer a Ordem Jedi, mas tudo se perdeu devido a precipitação de Luke em sua relação com seu principal discípulo Ben Solo .  Ben Solo tornou-se Kylo Ren e voltou-se para o "Lado Sombrio da Força" (anteriormente chamado de "Lado Negro").
Luke se exila num planeta chamado "Ahch-To" e neste filme, vemos a personagem Rey solicitando que Luke aceite-a como discípula. Tendo em vista todo o trauma sofrido pelo Mestre Jedi ao se sentir completamente fracassado no papel de mentor de Kylo Ren, ele recusa prontamente.

In "The Last Jedi" (2017), we discovered that Luke Skywalker attempted to re-establish the Jedi Order, but all was lost due to Luke's rashness in his relationship with his main disciple Ben Solo. Ben Solo became Kylo Ren and turned to the "Dark Side of the Force" ..
Luke exiles on a planet called "Ahch-To" and in this film, we see the character Rey requesting that Luke accept her as a disciple. In view of all the trauma suffered by the Jedi Master in feeling completely unsuccessful as Kylo Ren's mentor, he readily refuses.

Meu Mestre Julio Camacho(FOTO) , disse certa vez que é comum um discípulo sentir-se como se fosse único. Porém, ele também comentou em outra ocasião, que o fracasso de um discípulo começa quando ele pensa que é especial. Meu Mestre deu o seguinte exemplo a um companheiro de prática alguns anos atrás: "...Se um dos dedos de sua mão se separar, sozinho ele morre, porém, a mão continua viva com os outros dedos..." - Meu Mestre se referia ao fato de que a ideia de se destacar na lógica clássica chinesa, não é bem vista. Pois ao contrário da figura do herói que tanto conhecemos no ocidente que tende a se destacar com grandes feitos, na Cultura Clássica Chinesa, o estrategista que se dilui a ponto de perder a autoria de sua ação é mais aceita- "...Um bom estrategista, não tem seu nome lembrado, pois ele perdeu a autoria ao se deixar portar pela situação..." - Diz Mestre Julio Camacho.

My Master Julio Camacho (PHOTO) once said that it is common for a disciple to feel as if he were unique. However, he also commented on another occasion, that a disciple's failure begins when he thinks he is special. My Master gave the following example to a fellow practitioner a few years ago: "... If one of your fingers separates, alone it dies, but the hand is still alive with the other fingers ..." - My Master was referring to the fact that the notion of standing out in classical Chinese logic is not well regarded. For unlike the figure of the hero that we know so much in the West that tends to stand out with great deeds. In Chinese Classical Culture, the strategist who dilutes himself to the point where he loses the ownership of his action is more accepted- "... A good strategist, his name is not remembered, because he lost his authorship by letting himself behave in the situation .. "- says Master Julio Camacho.

No embate entre Mestre e Discípulo ao final do filme, percebemos um com o olhar fixo no outro, até que Luke diz: "Eu fracassei com você Ben. Sinto muito".

Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura disse certa vez em uma palestra no bairro da Freguesia no Rio de Janeiro, que uma de suas maiores alegrias, é quando um discípulo antigo retorna anos ou décadas depois para seu convívio, dando a ele uma segunda chance de fazer um melhor trabalho do que da primeira vez que tiveram contato. Isso acontece, porque tanto o discípulo quanto o Mestre estão em constante processo de amadurecimento, diferente dos estereótipos que vemos em filmes de um "Mestre infalível".

In the confrontation between Master and Disciple at the end of the film, we notice one staring at the other, until Luke says, "I failed you Ben. I'm sorry."

Grand Master Leo Imamura once said in a speech in the neighborhood of the Freguesia in Rio de Janeiro's west zone. That one of his greatest joys, is when an old disciple returns years or decades later to his conviviality, giving him a second chance to make a better job than the first time they had contact. This is because both the disciple and the Master are in the process of development unlike the stereotypes we see in films of an "infallible Master"

Kylo Ren diz a Luke, seu antigo mentor, na sequência : " Tenho certeza que sente. A Resistência está morta. A guerra acabou. E, quando eu matar você, terei matado o último Jedi."

Luke responde: "Incrível, cada palavra do que você disse está errada. A Rebelião renasceu hoje. A guerra está apenas começando. E eu não serei o último Jedi".


Kylo Ren tells Luke, his former mentor, "I'm sure you feel sorry. The Resistance is over, the war is over, and when I kill you, I will have killed the last Jedi."

Luke replies: "Incredible. Every word you said is wrong, the Rebellion is reborn today, the war is just beginning, and I will not be the last Jedi."

Afinal, o que é "Kung Fu"?
"Kung Fu" é um termo que reúne três ideogramas : 工 Kung (Trabalho) , 力 Lik (Energia) e 夫 Fu ("Homem Sábio").
Meu Mestre Julio Camacho costuma dizer que resumir algo tão rico quanto uma expressão assim com uma única e simples tradução, é um processo de empobrecimento dos seus potenciais significados.
Portanto, dentro do que vivenciei nessa trajetória até hoje, posso dizer que "Kung Fu" também se refere a ideia de "Acúmulo de potencial".  É a capacidade desenvolvida de acordo com "Momentos Oportunos" surgidos entre Mestre e Discípulo ao longo de um processo de investimento paciente para ambos, que desenvolverá o discípulo e também o Mestre como seres humanos.

After all, what is "Kung Fu"?
"Kung Fu" is a term that brings together three ideograms: 工 Kung (Work), 力 Lik (Energy) and 夫 Fu ("Wise Man").

My Master Julio Camacho usually says that summarizing something as rich as a chinese expression with a single simple translation is a process of impoverishing its potential meanings.
Therefore, within what I have experienced in this trajectory to this day, I can say that "Kung Fu" also refers to the idea of "Potential accumulation". It is the capacity developed according to "Opportune Moments" arising between Master and Disciple along a patient investment process for both, which will develop the disciple and also the Master as human beings.

Talvez por isso, a fala de Luke tenha representado tão bem o conceito clássico chinês de que um mesmo evento se desdobra em três etapas conforme escrevi aqui em artigo recente: "... 'Um é igual à três'. Desta forma, um acontecimento como este, divide-se em três momentos distintos: Pré-Evento. Este sendo um momento de pré-figuração, onde acima do nosso “querer”, está a 'realidade', a qual deveremos ouvir com atenção, caso desejemos ter sucesso. Depois, temos o “Trans-evento”, que é o momento aparente de um processo. Uma pessoa comum não consegue enxergar que uma determinada configuração que ela está vivenciando começou bem antes e vai gerar desdobramentos muito depois.

                Por falar nestes 'desdobramentos', chamamos de 'pós-evento' o momento de apreciação do que foi vivido para que tenhamos a oportunidade de realizar conscientemente pontos positivos e 'a melhorar' de um mesmo processo como forma de desenvolvimento humano..."

Perhaps this is why Luke's speech has represented so well the classic Chinese concept that the same event unfolds in three stages as I wrote in a recent article: "... One is equal to three. In this way, an event like this one, is divided into three distinct moments: 'The Pre-Event': This is a moment of pre-figuration, where above our "wanting" is the 'reality', which we should listen carefully if we want to succeed. Then we have "The Trans-event,":  Which is the apparent moment of a process. An ordinary person can not see that a certain configuration that he is experiencing has started well before, and will spawn much later.
Speaking of these 'unfoldings', we call the 'post-event' the moment of appreciation of what has been experienced so that we have the opportunity to consciously realize positive points and 'points to improve' of the same process as a form of human development ... "

Kylo Ren está "Preso" ao "trans-evento" e não consegue enxergar como os acontecimentos daquele episódio se desdobrariam no porvir com um grande potencial favorável à Resistência. Desta forma, seu Mestre Luke Skywalker, entende claramente quando sua participação em função do todo bastava, e só então Kylo Ren realiza que oferecera a vitória sem ao menos perceber. 

A isso, no clássico chinês "Sun Zi Bing Fat" ( 孙子兵法)  ou algo como "O método de Sun Zi para soldados" conhecido erroneamente no ocidente como "Arte da Guerra". Chamamos de "Conduta Feminina". 

A "conduta feminina" nada tem de relação com gênero , mas sim, com uma natureza não impositora , que ao se conectar com o adversário, através de um processo que se desenvolve , acolhe a vitória que o adversário oferece espontaneamente.

Kylo Ren is "stuck" to the "trans-event" and can not see how the events of that episode would unfold in the future with great potential for the Resistance. In this way, his Master Luke Skywalker, clearly understands when his participation in function of the whole was sufficient, and only then Kylo Ren realizes that he had offered the victory without even realizing it.
To that, in the Chinese classic "Sun Zi Bing Fat" (孙子兵 法) or something like "Sun Zi's method for soldiers"( erroneously known in the West as "Art of War"). We call it "Feminine Conduct."
The "feminine conduct" has nothing to do with gender, but rather, with a non-imposing nature, that when connecting with the adversary, through a process that develops, welcomes the victory that the opponent offers spontaneously.

Quando pensamos na "Trilogia Clássica de Star Wars", é possível observar claramente o conceito de "jornada do Herói", tendo na saga "Star Wars", um dos exemplos mais bem executados da história do cinema.

When we think of the "Classic Star Wars Trilogy", it is possible to clearly observe the concept of the "Hero's journey", with "Star Wars" as one of the best examples of cinema history.

Por outro lado, meu Mestre Julio Camacho que esteve em sítios históricos de nossa arte marcial na China em algumas ocasiões, em sua primeira visita ao famoso Templo Shaolin ("Siu Lam" no dialeto cantonês), observou alguns jovens monges com curativos no topo de suas cabeças. Segundo ele, já tinha ouvido falar que monges jovens ao dormirem durante processos de meditação, levavam um golpe com uma vara fina do monge mais velho para que acordassem.

On the other hand, my Master Julio Camacho who has been in historical places of our martial art in China in some occasions. On his first visit to the famous Shaolin Temple ("Siu Lam" in the Cantonese dialect), he observed some young monks wearing bandages at the top of their heads. According to him, he had heard that young monks sleeping during meditation were taking a blow with a thin stick of the older monk to wake them up.

Porém, espantou meu Mestre saber que mesmo quando os jovens estavam dispostos em seus exercícios de meditação, vez ou outra levavam um golpe com a mesma vara na cabeça. Segundo ele, o monge teria dito que tratava-se de um processo semelhante a vida: Às vezes por falta de atenção durante um processo, a vida vem e nos "golpeia". Ainda assim, em outros momentos, mesmo fazendo tudo certo , a vida nos golpeia mesmo assim. 

Por isso, na Cultura Clássica Chinesa, não existe a ideia de uma "Jornada do Herói", nem mesmo , existe a figura de um "Herói". Existe o "potencial de situação" e pessoas que conseguem se apoiar nele. 

But it astonished my Master to know that even when the young men were willing in their meditation exercises, time and again they would carry a blow with the same stick on their heads. According to him, the monk would have said that it is a life-like process: Sometimes for lack of attention during a process, life comes and "hit" us. Still, at other times, even doing everything right, life hit us anyway. This is the life.
Therefore, in the Chinese Classical Culture, there is no idea of a "Hero's Journey", not even, there is the figure of a "Hero". There is the "potential situation" and people who can rely on it.

Na outra extremidade do filme, tomamos conhecimento do outro "Mestre" presente nesta história: Exatamente a irmã de Luke Skywalker: A líder da Resistência Leia Organa Solo. 

A relação de Mestre e Discípulo entre Léia e Poe Dameron em "The Last Jedi"(2017), passa magistralmente despercebida pelos olhos da maioria. 

Poe, um piloto destemido, tende a querer resolver qualquer situação apoiando-se somente em sua habilidade destacando-se dos demais. Com isso, não percebe que mesmo suas ações que aparentam terem sido bem sucedidas, possuem um alto preço a ser pago pela Resistência como um todo.

At the other end of the film, we learn of the other "Master" present in this story: Exactly the sister of Luke Skywalker: The leader of the Resistance Leia Organa Solo.
The relationship of Master and Disciple between Leia and Poe Dameron in "The Last Jedi" (2017), passes masterfully unnoticed by the eyes of the majority.
Poe, a fearless pilot, tends to want to solve any situation by relying solely on his ability to stand out from the others. With this, he does not realize that even his actions that appear to have been successful have a high price to pay for the Resistance as a whole.

Possivelmente a maior autoridade do ocidente em Cultura Clássica Chinesa, o Professor e sinólogo da Universidade Paris Diderot François Jullien(FOTO), em sua obra prima "Tratado da Eficácia"(Ed. 34 ,1997), comenta sobre o ímpeto do herói ocidental, ao qual se baseia também o piloto Poe Dameron: "... Mas não deixamos de manter os olhos voltados para;é, porém, 'dirigindo o olhar' para o ideal, que temos de pensar a ação. Mais precisamente, é 'em direção a ele' que com os olhos fixos conduziremos nossa obra. Mesmo que o justo meio seja relativo tanto às circunstâncias quanto aos indivíduos, ele é sempre objeto de mira (skopos), e sua perfeição se instaura como norma que devemos em seguida encarnar nos fatos. Permanece intacta a função do modelo posto como objetivo, que se determina num plano 'teórico' , e ao qual, uma vez estabelecido, deve a 'prática' submeter-se..."

Possibly the greatest Western authority in Classical Chinese Culture, Professor and Sinologist of Paris Diderot University François Jullien (PHOTO), in his masterpiece "Traité de L'efficacité" ( 1997), comments on the impetus of the Western hero, to which the pilot Poe Dameron is also based: "... "But we do not cease to keep our eyes turned towards it, but it is 'looking' at the ideal that we have to think about the action. More precisely, it is 'toward it' that with fixed eyes we will lead. Even if the just mean is relative to both the circumstances and the individuals, it is always object of sight (skopos), and its perfection is established as a norm that we must then incarnate in the facts. objective, which is determined on a 'theoretical' plan, and to which, once established, 'practice' must undergo ... Leia precisa que Poe não seja apenas um piloto, mas se torne um líder. Ela enxerga nele os potenciais para tal, mas Poe tem problemas muito comuns a muitos aprendizes, sendo um deles,o de colocar sua personalidade à frente de seu papel em relação ao todo.

Leia says that Poe is not just a pilot but a leader. She sees in him the potentials for such, but Poe has problems very common to many apprentices, being one of them, to put his personality ahead of its role in relation to the whole.

Certa vez, disse meu Mestre Julio Camacho(FOTO) que atrapalha o fato do aluno "colocar a pessoa antes do artista marcial".  - Meu Mestre falava , em outras palavras, de um conceito presente na Cultura Clássica Chinesa, de que nossa capacidade de nos conectarmos com o outro e com o ambiente ao nosso redor para , baseados nisso, tomarmos a decisão mais adequada. Costuma ser atrapalhada pelo "excesso de camadas que temos em nosso coração/consciência". Essas "camadas", são pré-conceitos sobre um determinado tema, advindos de processos culturais em que estamos inseridos, ou simplesmente da educação que recebemos. (Dentre muitas outras possibilidades).

Once said my Master Julio Camacho(Photo), said that interferes the fact that the student "put the his personality before the martial artist". - My Master spoke, in other words, of a concept present in Chinese Classical Culture, that our ability to connect with the other and the environment around us, based on this, make the most appropriate decision. Usually it is disturbed by the "excess of layers that we have in our heart / mind". These "layers" are preconceptions about a certain theme, arising from cultural processes in which we are inserted, or simply from the education we receive. (Among many other possibilities).

Portanto, Leia chega a desperdiçar algum tempo tentando conscientizar seu discípulo Poe sobre aspectos de liderança sem sucesso. É somente quando ao sofrer um ataque no meio do filme, que aproveitando o potencial de situação, Leia faz alguns ajustes no cenário, de forma com que durante sua ausência, Poe possa se desenvolver como ser humano até que por evolução e naturalmente, atenda a sua vocação de líder.

Therefore, Leia even wastes some time trying to educate her disciple Poe about aspects of leadership without success. It is only when suffering an attack in the middle of the film, that taking advantage of the potential situation, Leia makes some adjustments in the scenario, so that during her absence, Poe can develop as a human being until by evolution and naturally, his vocation as leader.

Então , através desta magnífica relação entre Léia e Poe, observamos aquela que talvez seja a principal função de um Mestre para com seu discípulo: Ajudá-lo a retirar cada uma das camadas que o impedem de expressar sua humanidade. Portanto, entendemos que esse processo da relação Mestre-Discípulo, é sobre "retirar" e não "colocar" mais coisas. Como disse certa vez Grão-Mestre Leo Imamura.

Then, through this magnificent relationship between Leia and Poe, we observe that which is perhaps the main function of a Master to his disciple: To help him to remove each of the layers that prevent him from expressing his humanity. Therefore, we understand that this process of the Master-Disciple relationship is about "withdrawing" and not "putting" more things, as Grand Master Leo Imamura once said.

Rey é a outra discípula de Luke Skywalker presente nesse filme. Rey para mim, simboliza meu ideograma favorito dentre os mais de cinquenta mil presentes no idioma chinês: "Ging"(勁). 

"Ging"(勁) lê-se "Guin" , sem o som do "G". É a união dos seguintes ideogramas: O primeiro deles é o ideograma "巠" que também se pronúncia "Ging". Ele tem dentre seus significados, uma correnteza que passa por debaixo do solo. 

Esse conceito é muito bem-vindo na cultura clássica chinesa, quando pensamos na figura do "Haa Dai Tau" (下大頭) . Que é um jargão para uma liderança que nunca aparece. Onde "Haa"(下) significa "embaixo" ou "Por debaixo". Essa pessoa, faz as coisas acontecerem sem ser notada.

Rey is the other disciple of Luke Skywalker present in this film. Rey for me, symbolizes my favorite ideogram of the more than fifty thousand present in the Chinese language: "Ging" (勁).
"Ging" (勁) reads "Gin", without the sound of the "G". It is the union of the following ideograms: The first one is the ideogram "巠" which is also pronounced "Ging". It has among its meanings, a stream that passes under the ground.
This concept is very welcome in classical Chinese culture, when we think of the figure of "Haa Dai Tau" (下 大頭). That's a jargon for a leadership that never shows up. Where "Haa" (下) means "below" or "Underneath". That person, makes things happen without being noticed.

Meu Mestre Julio Camacho disse certa vez, que uma casa com vazamentos em suas tubulações tende, segundo uma das vertentes do que se conhece pela pronúncia do mandarim como "Feng Shui", a ser um ambiente com muito drama, choro, e tristeza. Por isso, é muito importante que se conserte essas infiltrações e vazamentos. 

Da mesma forma, é o ideograma "Ging"(勁). Já que esse mesmo potencial de uma força absurda que não está à vista como a água que passa por debaixo da terra.  É o drama, como um acúmulo exacerbado de água, dentro desta personagem, que por vários momentos ao longo da trama , a faz perder a conexão com seu mentor, e este em sua ansiedade, quase desistir dela por várias vezes.

My Master Julio Camacho once said that a house with leaks in its pipes tends, according to one of the strands of what is known by the pronunciation of Mandarin as "Feng Shui", to be an environment with much drama, crying, and sadness. For this reason, it is very important to repair such leaks.
In the same way is the ideogram "Ging" (勁). Since this same potential of an impressive force that is not seen as the water that goes underneath the earth, it is the drama within this character, like an amount of water inside her, that for several moments throughout the plot, makes her lose the connection with her mentor, and this in his anxiety, almost makes him give her up for several times.

E é apenas com a experiência significativa advinda da perda de seu mentor, que Rey decide-se por despertar seu potencial escondido["Ging"(勁)], influenciando de maneira decisiva os acontecimentos ao seu redor. 

E aqui, mais uma vez cito uma passagem com meu Mestre Julio Camacho, na qual ele fala sobre três maneiras de alguém se tornar um líder: "Uma delas, é o Mestre 'apontar' e dizer: 'Ele é o líder!'." - Disse ele - "A segunda" - prosseguiu -  "É por aclamação do grupo ao qual faz parte. E a terceira, é o praticante decidir ser um líder."

And it is only with the significant experience of the loss of his mentor, that Rey decides to awaken his hidden potential ["Ging" (勁)], decisively influencing the events around him.

And here again I quote a passage with my Master Julio Camacho in which he speaks about three ways for someone to become a leader: "One of them is the Master 'pointing' and saying, 'He is the leader!'. Muitas pessoas se frustraram com "The Last Jedi"(2017) , pois esperavam um Luke Skywalker imbatível e infalível como nos livros da série "Legends". Porém, talvez este tenha sido o ponto fundamental para me tocar tão profundamente: O fato de que quando eu iniciei o meu processo de aprendiz, o qual mantenho até hoje na relação com meu Mestre, eu também pensei que seria um dia imbatível e infalível. E foi muito interessante quando me titularam "Mestre", ao perceber que não era bem assim. De fato, é bem distante disso...

Portanto, olhar para o Luke Skywalker era olhar para mim mesmo, e perceber que nossa função como herdeiros de um legado, talvez seja apenas não ser o elo mais fraco da corrente.

Many people became frustrated with "The Last Jedi" (2017), expecting an unbeatable and infallible Luke Skywalker as in the "Legends" books. But perhaps this was the key to touching me so deeply: The fact that when I started my apprentice process, which I still maintain in my relationship with my Master, I also thought it would be unbeatable and infallible someday. And it was very interesting when they gave me my qualification title  of "Master", when I realized that it was not quite like that. In fact, it is far from that ...
So looking at Luke Skywalker was looking at myself, and realizing that our role as heirs to a legacy might just not be the weakest link in the chain.

Por fim, o conceito de "Grande Guerra" e "Pequena Guerra" que permeia todo o filme. Tendemos a entender o termo "Grande Guerra" como a luta em si. Reclamação de alguns fãs que disseram que faltaram lutas no filme. Porém, a parte que envolve o combate, é exatamente chamada de "Pequena Guerra". A guerra interna que travamos diariamente dentro de nós mesmos, ao precisarmos lidar com medos, inseguranças, crenças limitadoras, paradigmas, etc... Ou seja, todos os processos que nos impedem de expressar nossa humanidade devido a quantidade de camadas que existem entre nós e a realidade, esta, é a chamada "Grande Guerra".
No mundo das artes marciais chinesas chamado "Mo Lam", o verdadeiro Mestre é geralmente o mais gentil, pois sua hybris é tão baixa que ele consegue viver a vida de forma simples.
Por isso, observamos nesse filme também, que o tempo inteiro ele trata de pessoas travando essa "Grande Guerra". Seja dentro de si mesmas, como no caso de Luke, ou tentando despertar a consciência de aprendizes para esta batalha. O que meu Mestre Julio Camacho chama de: "A Luta do dia-a-dia"
