9 YEARS AS A DIRECTOR OF MYVT MEIER SCHOOL PART 1

Aos 27 anos, em Maio de 2012, me via parado diante da fita de inauguração do Núcleo Méier ao lado de Si Gung e Si Fu. Ao meu redor, rostos de garotos que hoje são homens, irmãos Kung Fu que hoje são pais, e muita emoção aguardava aquele grande momento.
Não sabia o peso do que estávamos prestes à fazer: Abriríamos o primeiro Mo Gun coordenado por um membro de Décima Segunda Geração da Linhagem Moy Yat que não era Mestre ainda. Além disso, desde 2003 quando os primeiros Mestres foram formados no Brasil, não se tinha um Núcleo da Moy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence com um Diretor que não fosse um Mestre. Os desafios eram grandes, mas tão pouco, eles começaram ali...

At the age of 27, in May 2012, I found myself standing in front of the inauguration tape of the MYVT Méier school next to Si Gung and Si Fu. Around me, faces of boys who are now men, Kung Fu brothers who are now parents, and a lot of emotion awaited that great moment.
We did not know the weight of what we were about to do: We would open the first Mo Gun coordinated by a member of the Twelfth Generation of the Moy Yat Lineage who was not a Master yet. In addition, since 2003 when the first Masters were formed in Brazil, there was no Moy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence school in Brazil with a Director other than a Master. The challenges were great, but so little, they started there ...

Já em 2009, a então "Unidade Méier", havia proposto um segundo Evento de Integração com as turmas infantis do Núcleo Barra e da Unidade Méier(Foto), que funcionava dentro de uma escola de dança.
Começara assistindo Si Suk Ursula na Unidade Méier ainda em Abril de 2007, nos intervalos das aulas da faculdade entre o turnos da manhã e da noite. Só para se ter uma ideia, isso já faz tanto tempo, que alguém nascido em 1992 teria apenas 16 anos, quando em 2008 Si Suk Ursula precisou se afastar pois estava grávida de Rebeka e eu aceitei assumir em seu lugar sob a anuência de Si Fu.

Already in 2009, the then "Méier Studio" had proposed a second Integration Event with the kids's classes of the Barra School and the Méier Studio (Photo), which used to operate inside a dance school.
I had begun by assisting Si Suk Ursula at the Méier Studio as early as April 2007, in the intervals of college classes between morning and evening shifts. Just to give you an idea, it's been so long since someone born in 1992 would have been only 16 years old, when in 2008 Si Suk Ursula had to move away because she was pregnant with her daughter Rebeka and I agreed to take her place under the agreement of Si Fu .

Pegamos as chaves da primeira sala do Núcleo Méier no dia 06 de Abril de 2011, mais de um ano antes de sua inauguração. E no dia 08 que era uma Sexta, trazia Si Fu para sua primeira palestra nesse novo local. Naquele período, ainda não tínhamos a ideia de "Colóquio", mas lembro de Si Fu buscar a interação com os presentes a todo o momento.
Para que aquele momento acontecesse, nomes como: Felipe Mury, Rodrigo Demetrio, Leonardo Descoffier, Daniel de Caires, Raphinha Caputo, Rodrigo Caputo e Lucas Eustáquio...Ajudaram a organizar de maneira digna todo o ambiente.
Entre os presentes, vemos ao fundo de camisa vermelha Rodrigo Moreira, até então, apenas meu amigo de faculdade e entusiasta por artes marciais.

We took the keys to the first room of the Méier School on April 6, 2011, more than a year before its inauguration. And on the 8th that was a Friday, I would bring Si Fu to his first lecture at this new location. At that time, we still did not have the idea of "Colloquium", but I remember Si Fu seeking interaction with the present poeple at all times.
For that moment to happen, names like: Felipe Mury, Rodrigo Demetrio, Leonardo Descoffier, Daniel de Caires, Raphinha Caputo, Rodrigo Caputo and Lucas Eustaquio ... They helped to organize in a dignified way the whole environment.
Among those present, we see the bottom wearing red shirt Rodrigo Moreira, until then, just my college friend and enthusiastic for martial arts.

O primeiro Momento de Acesso Programado nesta nova sala, foi na semana seguinte, quando Luciano Freitas, meu irmão Kung Fu(foto), acessou o Nível Avançado "Biu Ji".
Lembro por vezes, da insegurança que sentia ao estar ali sozinho. Não era como no Núcleo Barra, onde haviam ainda muitos Si Suk como a Mestra Ursula Lima, à quem eu poderia recorrer caso houvesse alguma dúvida. Naquelas primeiras semanas, comendo um cachorro-quente com Thiago Silva e Carlos Antunes, que passaram para me chamar numa noite qualquer na casa da minha mãe, ouvi de Carlos a seguinte pergunta: "Si Hing, você não tem medo de você não conseguir fazer as coisas com um cara desses lá no Méier?" - Minha resposta para Carlos foi bem superficial, dizendo que não havia motivo para se ter medo. A verdade, é que o medo sempre esteve presente, e é esse tipo de medo que nos faz buscar a melhora.

The first class in this new room was in the following week, when Luciano Freitas, my brother Kung Fu (photo), accessed the Advanced Level "Biu Ji".
I sometimes remember the insecurity I felt when I was there alone. It was not like at the Barra School, where there were still many Si Suk as Master Ursula Lima, whom I could turn to if there were any questions. In those first few weeks, eating a hot dog with Thiago Silva and Carlos Antunes, who happened to call me one night at my mother's house, I heard from Carlos the following question: "Si Hing, you're not afraid you can not do things with a guys like that in Méier? "- My response to Carlos was rather superficial, saying there was no reason to be afraid. The truth is that fear has always been present, and it is this kind of fear that makes us seek improvement.

Por isso talvez, que em Maio de 2011, resolvi me matricular na primeira turma de pós-graduação em artes marciais do Brasil na extinta Universidade Gama Filho(FOTO), em sua matriz na cidade de São Paulo.
Dois dos docentes deste inédito curso, eram Si Gung e Si Taai. Sem dúvidas, uma experiência inesquecível que muito me enriqueceu!

So perhaps, in May 2011, I decided to enroll in the first graduate class in martial arts in Brazil at the extinct Gama Filho University (FOTO), at its headquarters in the city of São Paulo.
Two of the teachers of this unprecedented course were Si Gung and Si Taai. Without a doubt, an unforgettable experience that greatly enriched me!

Si Fu sempre se fez presente na condução do Núcleo Méier(FOTO), assim como meus irmãos Kung Fu da época e meus Si Suk. Àquela altura, a sala vazia começava a ficar cada vez mais com um aspecto de "Mo Gun". Por vezes, demoramos para colocar algum objeto componente da ambiência objetiva do Mo Gun por falta de recursos. Porém, na maioria das vezes, baseado no que via Si Fu fazer, preferia esperar por um horário em que os irmãos Kung Fu estivessem presentes para que uma ação como colocar os quadros dos ancestrais (Sam Wai) deixasse de ser apenas uma obrigação, e passasse a ser uma oportunidade de aprendizado.

Si Fu was always present in the conduction of the MYVT Meier School (PHOTO), as well as my Kung Fu brothers of the time and my Si Suk. By now the empty room was starting to look more and more like a "Mo Gun". Sometimes, it takes time to put some object component of the objective ambiance of the Mo Gun for lack of resources. However, most of the time, based on what Si Fu saw, he would rather wait for a time when the Kung Fu brothers were present so that an action such as setting up the ancestors (Sam Wai) was no longer just an obligation,but an opportunity for learning.

O número de praticantes também começou a aumentar, sendo a primeira matrícula de Pedro Freire. A confiança de Si Fu no trabalho que se iniciava ali era tamanha, que sua filha mais velha Jade (foto de vermelho), mesmo morando em Jacarepaguá, que era bem mais próximo ao Núcleo Barra, praticava comigo no Núcleo Méier.

The number of practitioners also began to increase, being the first enrollment by Pedro Freire. Si Fu's confidence in the work that began there was so great, that his eldest daughter Jade (red shirt in the photo), even living in Jacarepaguá neighborhood, which was much closer to the Barra School, practiced with me in Méier School.

Por alguma razão que não sei explicar, as pessoas gostavam de ficar no Mo Gun.Simplesmente não queriam ir embora. Nas Sextas de 2011, chegávamos a ter simultaneamente fazendo as antigas práticas coletivas,doze pessoas naquela sala.
O bairro do Méier tinha um estereótipo de um local onde se tinham "academias":Você praticava, suava e voltava para casa. Preferi sempre olhar para o aspecto acolhedor do bairro. Um local com pessoas com muito carinho umas pelas outras, e um sentimento agregador muito grande.
De minha parte, por vezes levei meu televisor de 14 polegadas(foto) e um aparelho de DVD só para exibir a cena de Bruce Lee fazendo "Paak Da" em "Operação Dragão"(Enter the Dragon,2011). E dizia: "Hoje vamos trabalhar o Paak Sau no Ving Tsun Experience." - Para o praticante, não era mais apenas uma técnica, era um movimento que a deixava mais próxima de seu ídolo. E isso o encantava.

For some reason I can not explain, people liked to stay at Mo Gun. They just did not want to leave. On Fridays of 2011, we would be doing the old collective practices, with twelve people in that tiny room.
The Méier neighborhood had a stereotype of a place where they had "academies": You practiced, sweated and returned home. I always preferred to look at the cozy aspect of the neighborhood. A place with people with a lot of affection for each other, and a very large aggregating feeling.
For my part, sometimes I took my 14" TV (photo above) and a DVD player just to show the scene of Bruce Lee doing "Paak Da" in "Enter the Dragon" (2011). I would say: "Today we are going to work the Paak Sau in the Ving Tsun Experience class."-  For the practitioner, it was no longer just a technique, it was a movement that would take him closer to his idol. And that charmed him.

Procurava estar sempre com Si Fu(FOTO). Estávamos começando um novo Núcleo na  Zona Oeste do Rio, e todas as Terças, Quintas e Sábados estava por lá. Nas noites de Terças e Quintas, tínhamos uma reunião de Gestão Coordenada por Si Fu, na qual também participava a Si Suk Ursula(foto). Lembro de que por vezes, aquela rotina foi bem pesada e que precisei abrir mão de muita coisa, como meus passeios com meus amigos. Porém, lembro da frase de Si Fu: "Aproveite esse momento, ele não vai se repetir."

I always wanted to be with Si Fu (PHOTO). We were starting a new School in the West Zone of Rio, and every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday was there. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we had a management meeting coordinated by Si Fu, which also included Si Suk Ursula (photo). I remember that sometimes that routine was very heavy and that I had to give up a lot of things, like my hangouts with my friends. However, I remember Si Fu's phrase: "Enjoy this moment, it will not happen again."

O Núcleo Copacabana abriu suas portas em 2011, e lembro com clareza do pedido de Si Suk Ursula para que numa tarde de Novembro daquele ano, pudesse falar um pouco sobre Família Kung Fu aos seus primeiros To Dai(foto), e por isso, levei algumas fotos impressas.
Estava bem nervoso enquanto caminhava pela Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana, mas sabia que a relação construída com Si Suk principalmente enquanto a assisti em suas sessões no ínicio das atividades da Unidade Méier em 2007. Haviam garantido esse nível de confiança em mim.

The Copacabana School opened its doors in 2011, and I remember with clarity the request of Si Suk Ursula so that one afternoon in November of that year, I could talk a little about Kung Fu Family to ther first To Dai (photo), and so I took some printed photos.
I was very nervous as I walked along Nossa Senhora de Copacabana Avenue, but I knew the relationship built with Si Suk mainly while I assisted her sessions at the beginning of the activities of the Méier Studio in 2007. They had guaranteed this level of confidence in me.

Especial mesmo, foi o momento em que começaram a surgir os primeiros membros vitalícios saídos diretamente do Núcleo Méier. Na foto acima, vemos a noite do convite formal para o atual Diretor do Núcleo Barra da Tijuca André Guerra realizar o "Baai Si". Luciano Freitas e Fabio Sá, que também estiveram presentes, foram outros dois exemplos desse momento.

Especially, it was the moment when the first special students(Disciples) left directly from the  Méier School began to appear. In the photo above, we see the night of the formal invitation to the current Director of the Barra da Tijuca School, André Guerra perform the "Baai Si". Luciano Freitas and Fabio Sá, who were also present, were two other examples of this moment.

Para mim era um orgulho tão grande a cada vez que um praticante do Núcleo Méier realizava o "Baai Si", que fiz questão de que isso fosse exposto à época em minha breve biografia no site da Moy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence. Mais tarde, Clayton Meireles e Iuri Alvarenga, que exerceram a Direção e Direção Adjunta do Núcleo Barra em 2018, e Fabiano Granado. Também começaram sua prática no Núcleo Méier sendo posteriormente indicados ao Si Fu para realizarem o Baai Si. Totalizando oito membros vitalícios da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou oriundos desse trabalho.

For me it was such a great honor every time a practitioner of the Méier School did "Baai Si", which made it a point that this was exposed at the time in my brief biography on Moy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence's website. Later, Clayton Meireles and Iuri Alvarenga, who served as Directorsof the Barra School in 2018, and Fabiano Granado. They also began their practice in the Méier School and were later introduced to Si Fu to do the Baai Si. Totaling eight special studentes(Disciples) of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family from this work.

Em 2012, mais precisamente em Outubro, Si Fu retornou de sua terceira viagem à China(foto). Naquela oportunidade, eu e Guilherme Farias (Diretor interino do Núcleo Barra naquele período e atual Diretor Adjunto do mesmo Núcleo). Pudemos tomar um café da tarde com Si Fu e ouvir um pouco de suas histórias.
Para mim, sempre foi muito mais forte o aspecto familiar do que institucional ao longo de minha trajetória. E bem melhor do que apresentar novos discípulos era poder atuar como um.

In 2012, more precisely in October, Si Fu returned from his third trip to China (photo). At that time, me and Guilherme Farias (Acting Director of the Barra School in that period and current Director of the same School with Andre ). We were able to have an afternoon coffee with Si Fu and hear some of his stories.
For me, the family aspect has always been much stronger than institutional throughout my career. And far better than introducing new disciples was being able to act as one.

Eu havia me mudado para um apartamento que era de meu falecido e querido avô, alguns meses antes. Me sentia muito feliz, por cada novo item que comprava para o local com o dinheiro advindo do Núcleo Méier. Para mim, era simplesmente mágico, poder ter esse tipo de retorno de meu sonho.

I had moved into an apartment that belonged to my late and dear grandfather, a few months earlier. I felt very happy, for every new item I bought for the place with the money coming from the  Méier School. For me, it was simply magical, to be able to have that kind of return from my dream.

E o momento mais importante dessa minha trajetória como Diretor de Núcleo, ou simplesmente como profissional. Foi quando por uma sequência de acontecimentos, pude fazer o acerto do aluguel do Núcleo Barra nos meses de Outubro e Novembro de 2012 junto dos aluguéis do Núcleo Méier.
Pode parecer difícil de explicar, mas tinha vivido muitas coisas boas no Blue Sky, e é verdade que retornávamos para lá num momento difícil, mas a honra em ser o locatário e de poder pagar aqueles aluguéis graças ao dinheiro que entrava por algo aprendido com Si Fu. Foi a coisa mais emocionante que minha profissão me possibilitou realizar até àquele momento.

And the most important moment of my career as a School Director, or simply as a professional. It was when, due to a sequence of events, I was able to set the rental of the Barra School in the months of October and November 2012 at the Méier School rents.
It may seem difficult to explain, but had lived many good things in Blue Sky, and it was true that we were returning there in a difficult time, but the honor of being the renter and of being able to pay those rents thanks to the money that came in for something learned from Si Fu. It was the most exciting thing that my profession made possible for me to perform until that moment.

Num dos meus filmes favoritos da infância, "Hook - A Volta do Capitão Gancho", tem a minha cena preferida na qual Peter Pan (Robin Williams) já crescido,consegue voltar a voar pois consegue acessar lembranças felizes de sua infância (Cena AQUI).
Bom, me peguei lembrando desse filme e de sua trilha sonora nos últimos dias, e da importância de não deixarmos de ter essas lembranças felizes que não nos deixam esquecer de nossos sonhos e da razão de estarmos desempenhando um determinado papel social.

In one of my favorite childhood films, "Hook"(1992) has my favorite scene in which Peter Pan (Robin Williams) has grown up, can fly again because he can access happy memories of his childhood (Scene HERE) .
Well, I found myself remembering this film and its soundtrack in recent days, and the importance of not forgetting those happy memories that do not let us forget our dreams and the reason we are playing a certain social role.

Nunca vamos saber ao certo, o quanto uma atitude nossa pode influenciar positivamente a vida de alguém quando dirigimos um Núcleo da Moy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence. Pois de certa forma, passamos a ser uma referência.
 A insegurança, ela sempre vai existir, mas contanto que possamos: Olhar cada situação com o coração, ouvir cada palavra com o coração e nos expressar de coração. Poderemos finalmente saber seguir a direção que este coração aponta.

We will never know for sure how much our attitude can positively influence someone's life when we drive a Moy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence School. For in a way, we become a reference.
  Insecurity, it will always exist, but as long as we can: Look at each situation with our heart, hear each word with our heart and express us from the heart. We may finally know how to follow the direction that this heart points.
