De 1914 a 1937, Ip Man trabalhou na força policial de FatSan, ou seja, ao contrário do que é mostrado no filme, 

Ip Man tinha um emprego que fez dele muito respeitado no circulo marcial local.

Com a invasão japonesa entre 1937 e 1945 ,Ip man perdeu todos os seus bens e passou por dificuldades financeiras. E foi exatamente seu grande amigo Jau Ching Chuen, que o ajudou nesse momento de dificuldade.

From 1914 to 1937,  Ip Man worked in FatSan police force, , contrary to what is shown in the film,
Ip Man had a job that made ​​him highly respected in martial circle ..

With the Japanese invasion between 1937 and 1945, Ip man lost all his possessions and went through financial difficulties. It was precisely his great friend Jau Ching Chuen, who helped him in this difficult time.

O filme mostra Ip Man ensinando os funcionários de Jau Ching Chuen. Mas na verdade o que aconteceu, foi que em gratidão a ajuda de seu amigo, Ip Man tomou seu filho, Jau Gwong Yu como discipulo. Neste primeiro grupo, juntaram-se a Jau Gwong Yiu: Gwok Fu e Lun Gaai.

The movie shows Ip Man teaching  Jau Ching Chuen's factory´s staff. But in fact what happened was that in gratitude of the help of his friend, Ip Man took his friend´s son as a disciple.  In the first group, joined Jau Gwong Yiu: Gwok Fu and Lun Gaai.

Trajando azul de pé no fundo, vemos meu Si Fu Julio Camacho, junto de parte da comitiva, como o representante mais antigo do Clã Moy Yat Sang presente nesta viagem.

My Si Fu, Julio Camacho, is wearing blue standing in the background between part of the crew of this trip. He was the oldest disciple of Si Gung Leo Imamura in this trip representing him.

Na mesma viagem, vemos Si Fu sendo recebido por Gwok Fu em sua residência.

Si Fu also went to Gwok Fu´s home.

Gwok Fu, que veio a falecer no final de 2010, deixa que Si taai Po Helen Moy sente-se no lugar de honra de sua residência.

Gwok Fu, let Si Taai Po Helen Moy  sit on the honor place of his home. He passed away in the end of the last year.

O filme também mostra Ip Man ao ser capturado pelos japoneses, pedindo a Jau Ching Chuen que leve sua Familia para Hong Kong. O qual ao final do filme, leva inclusive Ip Man que teria tomado um tiro ao final do combate com o general do exercito niponico.

The film also shows Ip Man being captured by the Japanese, asking Jau Ching Chuen to take his family to Hong Kong. Which at the end of the film,his friend also takes Ip Man  that would have taken a shot at the end of combat with the japanese army general .

Ip Man só vai para Hong Kong em 1949, 4 anos após a retirada japonesa. Sua ida se dá em função da Revolução Comunista. E apenas mais tarde, chegaram de FaatSan Ip Chun e Ip Jing.

Ip Man just goes to Hong Kong in 1949, four years after the Japanese withdrawal. His trip was made because of the Communist Revolution. And only later, arrived from FaatSan his sons Ip Chun and Ip Jing.

Ko-Chun(Chow Yun Fat) é desafiado por Tanaka, o maior gambler do Japão. Ao vencer todos os desafios, Tanaka pede a ajuda de Ko-Chun para se vingar de Chan Kam-Sing, um homem de Cinga-Pura que ao trapacear numa aposta, levou o pai de tanaka a se suicidar. Ko Chun aceita ajudar a vence-lo em troca de uma simples caixa de chocolates.

Ko Chun (Chow Yun Fat) is challenged by Tanaka, Japan's Nº1 gambler. Winning all the challenges, Tanaka asks for the help of Ko-Chun to get revenge against Chan Kam-Sing, a man from Singapore who cheating on a bet, let Tanaka´s father to commit suicide . Ko Chun accepts  in exchange for a simple box of chocolates.

 Ko Chun sofre um acidente e bate a cabeça com força. Além de perder a memória, volta a se comportar como criança. Ele é acolhido pelo grupo de tranbiqueiros liderados por "knife", interpretado pelo jovem Andy Lau, hoje renomado ator em Hong Kong.

Ko Chun has an accident and hit his head hard. In addition to losing his memory,he now is back to behaving like a child. He is welcomed by the group led by  "knife", played by a young Andy Lau, today renowned actor in Hong Kong.

Chow Yun Fat reclaims memory in the midst of an epic action scene, which was a tribute from director Wong Jin  and action director Paul Wong Kwan to the famous characters by Chow Yun Fat in Hong Kong. One reviewer even wrote at the time, "Leave two Berettas in the hands of this man and he becomes God"

INSANE SATURDAY AT MYVT MEIER AND BARRA (Sábado Agitado na Barra e no Méier!)

No último Sábado , eu, Erika Carvalho e Pedro Alves , estivemos no Mo Gun para mais ajustes. Outra surpresa boa, é que a logo para a nossa recepção e a do Nucleo Copacabana em MDF finalmente teve sua versão teste pronta. E na foto acima, pouco antes de irmos embora, Erika e Pedro seguram a logo que ficou...digamos... um pouco grande demais!rs

Last Saturday, Erika Carvalho, Pedro Alves and me, were on Meier Neighborhood Mo Gun for more adjustments in the place. Another nice surprise is that the logo for our reception room and also for MYVT Copacabana's one made in MDF finally got his test version ready. And in the photo above, just before we left, Erika and Pedro hold that.

Erika se diverte enquanto reforma as cadeiras de Si Fu e Si Gung em meio as paredes frescas de tinta. Fazia muito calor nesse dia.

Pedro using paint for the first time in his life on the door that his Si Hing Guilherme farias painted some days ago. "That was a good experience" he said later.. hehe

De preto em primeiro plano, vemos Carlos Antunes, discipulo de Si Fu Julio Camacho e também um de meus melhores amigos. Carlos coordenava uma prática de Siu Nim Tau, que reuniu alunos de Si Baak Paulo Freitas, praticantes do Nucleo Rio de Janeiro e membros da Familia Kung Fu que estao retornando como Cristiano "Goldman" Chaves.

Here, we are at Barra da Tijuca Branch, in West zone. My dear Kung Fu Brother and friend, Carlos Antunes, leads the Siu Nim Tau practice that morning with students from Si Baak Paulo Freitas´ group, students from the Rio de Janeiro Branch and also old Family members as Cristiano "Goldman" Chaves.

Si Fu deixou a coordenação da atividade com Carlos Antunes, e passava pelo amplo salão de prática para monitorar o trabalho.

Depois de um dia tão cansativo, nada como uma caminhada noturna na praia! Eu estava usando a incrivel camisa do filme "De Volta para o Futuro" que ganhei do meu irmão Kung Fu e também grande amigo , Thiago Silva.

After such a day, nothing like take a walk at the beach by night. I was using the "Back to the Future" T-shirt that my Si Dai and great friend Thiago Silva gave me!

Nós tivemos um Sábado muito agitado! E os próximos dias serão mais agitados ainda!

REVIEW: IRON & SILK : One of the best kung fu movies of all time

Um dos melhores filmes de Kung Fu de todos os tempos!

Um dos  filmes mais sensacionais já produzidos tratando da cultura chinesa, praticamente permeia o underground. Dificil de achar inclusive o trailer, "IRON & SILK" conta a história incrivel de Mark Salzman(foto), que viaja em 1982 para a China, a fim de que durante 2 anos lecionasse inglês para professores chineses.

O próprio Mark Salzman interpreta a si mesmo no filme de 1990.

O roteiro, a fotografia, os diálogos inteligentes e situações que apenas quem convive com a cultura chinesa percebe a fundo, fazem deste, um filme maravilhoso para qualquer fã de Kung Fu.

One of the coolest movies ever made dealing with the Chinese culture permeates virtually underground. Hard to even find the trailer, "Iron & Silk" tells the incredible story of Mark Salzman (photo), who travels to China in 1982, to teach English Language to Chinese teachers.Mark Salzman plays himself in this 1990 film.The screenplay, photography, intelligent dialogues and situations that only those who live with Chinese culture perceives the background, make it a wonderful film for any fan of Kung Fu.

Professora: - O que está fazendo?

Mark: -A senhora disse que não estava com fome.

Professora: - Mesmo assim você deve deixar aí, meu papel é ser educada, o seu é me oferecer novamente.

Mark: - I learned new chinese characters.
Teacher: - In China, when someone visits you, first you offer tea and something to eat.

 Mark offers tea and biscuits.

 Teacher: - I have already eaten, I'm not hungry.

 Mark takes off the cookies.

 Teacher: - What are you doing?

Mark:-You said that was not hungry.

Teacher: - Still you should leave it there, my role is to be polite, you role is to offer me again

Quando a professora vai embora, Mark a leva até a porta:

When the teacher is leaving, Mark takes her to the door:

Professora: - Na China, você deve levar o convidado até parte do caminho de volta pra casa.

Mark acompanha a professora por uma boa parte do caminho até que ela diz:

Professora:-Você é educado demais! Pode voltar daqui.

Mark: - Tudo bem, acompanho a senhora mesmo assim!

Professora: - Excelente!Já está pegando o jeito chinês!

Mark Salzman então pondera: "Com a professora, nunca estava claro quando a lição terminava."

Teacher: - In China, you should take up the guest half the way back home.

Mark accompanies the teacher for a good part of the way until she says:

Teacher: -'You're too polite! You can come back now.

Mark: - Okay, I follow you anyway!

Teacher: - Excellent! you are already learning the Chinese way!

Mark Salzman then ponders: "With the teacher, was never clear when the lesson was over."

RELAÇÃO SI FU- TO DAI:

Mark Salzman, depois de muita insistência, consegue ser aceito pelo melhor Si fu da região: Pang. 

Por ter assistido todos os filmes de Kung Fu que pôde, Mark vai no primeiro dia muito empolgado, mas tudo que aprende é uma simples posição de base vinculada a um tipo especifico de olhar:

Si Fu Pang: - Está bom por hoje!

Mark: -Mas só se passaram 5 minutos!

Si Fu Pang: - É o suficiente!

Mark: - Mas quanto tempo devo praticar quando estiver sozinho?

Si Fu Pang: - Oito horas!

Mark Salzman, after much persuasion, could be accepted by the region's best Si fu: Mister Pang.

Having watched all Kung Fu movies as he could, Mark goes on the first day very excited, but just learned a simple stance position linked to a specific kind of look:

Si Fu Pang: - It's good for today!

Mark: -But, only been 5 minutes!

Si Fu Pang: - It is enough!

Mark: - But how long should I practice when I´m alone?

Si Fu Pang: - Eight hours!

Após um treino, Si Fu Pang, pede que Mark o ensine inglês, MArk diz que devem começar pelo alfabeto, mas Si Fu Pang insiste em aprender sentenças inteiras:

Mark: - Mas não dá pra aprender assim.

Si Fu Pang: - Só preciso saber as palavras, depois encontro seu encaixe como nas sequências de Kung Fu.

Mark: - Mas o que isso tem haver com Kung Fu?

Si Fu Pang liga um gravador.

Si Fu Pang: -Tudo tem haver com Kung Fu! Agora leia estas dez frases pra mim e repita cada uma 6 vezes!

After a workout, Si Fu Pang, asks Mark to teach English to him, Mark says they must start with the alphabet, but Si Fu Pang  insist on learning whole sentences:

Mark: - But you can not learn well this way.

Si Fu Pang: - I just need to know the words, then find hits connections as the sequences of Kung Fu.

Mark: - But what does this have to do with Kung Fu?

 Si Fu Pang turns on a recorder.

 Si Fu Pang:-Everything has to do with Kung Fu! Now read these ten phrases for me and repeat 6 times each!

Um dos momentos mais mágicos do filme, é que sempre quando Mark encontrava seu Si Fu, ele gastava menos de 5 minutos ajudando-o e depois sumia por dias, e o deixava praticando:

"Si Fu Pang, não tinha telefone, então eu simplesmente tinha que esperar que ele aparecesse no local de treino. As vezes levavam dias, mas eu estava lá sempre,e de repente,ele aparecia. Me dava uma bronca por estar fazendo algo errado e sumia novamente." - narra Mark

One of the most magical moments of the film, is that whenever Mark meet his Si Fu, he spent less than 5 minutes helping Mark and then disappeared for days, and let he practicing:

"Si Fu Pang, had no phone, so I just had to wait for him to appear in place of training. Sometimes it took days, but I was always there, and suddenly he appeared. He gave me a scolding for doing something wrong and disappear again. "- Mark tells

Enfim, o Blog do Pereira ecomenda esse filme sem pestanejar! Todo o artista marcial deveria assisti-lo pelo menos uma vez!

Reforming the MYVT Meier Branch (Reformando o Nucleo Méier)

Para começar o novo ano, e se preparar para a inauguração oficial do Núcleo Méier com a presença de
Si Gung Leo Imamura, era preciso que todos os membros se reunissem para que ajustes fossem feitos.

To start the new year, and prepare for the official inauguration of the MYVT Meier Branch with the presence of Si Gung Leo Imamura, it was necessary that all members come together to make adjustments to be made.

Na verdade, seria muito mais fácil contratar pintores e pessoas que trabalham com obras para fazer um trabalho melhor e mais rápido. Porém, o Mo Gun é nossa casa, a casa da Familia Kung Fu, e nada melhor do que os próprios membros terem a oportunidade de fazê-lo.

In fact, it would be easier to hire painters and people who work with to do a better and faster job . However, the Mo Gun  is our home, the home of the Kung Fu Family , and nothing better than the members themselves have the opportunity to do so.

 Durante as reformas de um dos Mo Gun que liderou em sua carreira, Si Fu ajuda a pintar as grades de uma das janelas com outros dois membros da Familia Kung Fu.

Muito mais do que "ajudar na obra do Nucleo", a atenção cuidadosa com o Mo Gun, é fundamental para que possamos dar um passo em relação a pensar o Kung Fu em tudo que fazemos.

Ninguém é pintor, escultor, eletricista, nem nada parecido. Mas a cada um desses momentos, descobrimos que com Kung Fu desenvolvido durante as sessões, conseguimos realizar coisas que julgavamos impossiveis até então...

Much more than "help" careful attention to the Mo Gun,  is essential for us to take a step ahead to think about Kung Fu in everything we do.

No one is a painter, sculptor, electrician, or anything. But in each of these moments, we find that with Kung Fu developed during the sessions, we do things we thought impossible until now ...

Em meio a sua participação nos ajustes no Mo Gun, Leo Descoffier recebeu a noticia que seu filho havia se machucado neste exato momento.

Leo sabendo que ainda havia trabalo a ser feito, não sendo possivel estar de volta na Sexta, passou a manhã de Sabado comigo no Mo Gun.

Leo receives a call from his wife, telling that his 2 years old son, had hurt his foot in the exactly moment of the picture.

Leo knew that there were a lot of work to do. And being not able to come back Friday, he spent all the Saturday morning helping me.

Si Fu certa vez disse pra mim:

"Pereira, existem alguns tipos de praticantes: Aquele que espera alguém pedir pra fazer e faz, aquele que espera alguém pedir pra fazer e faz reclamando, aquele que espera alguém pedir e não faz. Existe  aquele que vê que precisa ser feito e finge que não viu, e aquele que vê que precisa ser feito e espera alguém pedir que o faça. E finalmente, aquele que vê que pecisa ser feito, faz, e ninguém  fica sabendo. E então Pereira? Em qual destes que falei você se encaixa?"

My Si Fu Julio Camacho once said to me:

"Pereira, there are some types of practitioners: The one who waits for someone to ask him to do something and do. The one who waits for someone to ask him to do, and do complaining. The one who waits for someone to ask him to do something and he does not do. There is one who sees what needs to be done and  and pretends not to see, and there is also that one who sees what needs to be done and waits for someone to ask him to do, and finally, the one who sees that something must be done, does, and nobody knows it.

A Filosofia do Kung Fu: Um erro conceitual.

The Philosophy of Kung Fu: A conceptual error.

Algo que é muito comum de se ouvir , é "a filosofia do kung fu". Principalmente quando chega alguém para procurar a arte e diz: "Eu queria aprender uma arte marcial, mas que tivesse a filosofia também..."

Si Fu costuma comentar, que tratar o Kung Fu como "filosofia" é um erro conceitual, pois basea-se no Pensamento Chinês Clássico onde se encontram os processos: 

"Mo Faat" (不法) - que significa "ausência de método" , no que tange a transmissão do conhecimento.

"Mo Saam" (不心) - No que tange a "ausência de vontade" ("Não-mente")

  

Something that is very common to hear, is "the philosophy of kung fu." Especially when someone comes to look for this art and says, "I wanted to learn a martial art, but also had the philosophy ..."

Si Fu usually comment, to deal with the Kung Fu as "philosophy" is a misconception, because it is based on the classical Chinese thinking where are the processes of:

"Mo Faat" (不 法) - which means "no method", regarding the transmission of knowledge.

"Saam Mo" (不 心) - "No-mind"

Na primeira postagem de 2012, num ano que todos dizem que o mundo vai acabar, nada melhor do que ouvir alguém que com quem sabe, mais uns dois anos de treino, seria capaz de fazê-lo por si mesmo..rsrs

In the first post of 2012, a year that all say the world will end, nothing better than to hear a person that maybe with a couple more years of training, would be able to do it by himself .. lol

 Muito mais do que um entusiasmo de iniciante pelo meu Si Hing, Leonardo Reis é aquele que carrega a condição em suas costas, de ser o membro mais antigo da Familia Moy Jo lei Ou liderada por nosso Si Fu Julio Camacho.

Much more than a beginner's enthusiasm for the Si Hing, Leonardo Reis is the one who carries on his back,the condition of being the oldest member of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family, leaded by our Si Fu Julio Camacho.

Daai Si Hing (大師兄) , significa "Grande irmão mais velho" , ou, "o mais velho dos irmãos mais velhos".

 Daai Si Hing (大師兄) means "The Great Older Brother" or "The Oldest Brother of the Older Brothers"

 

 Si Hing Leo, não só é uma grande pessoa, divertida,e  que está sempre sorrindo (em contraste com as fotos que escolhi..rs) , mas também possui uma habilidade de compreensão e execução das técnicas, que honram a fama do Ving Tsun em combate.

Além de ser uma honra ter esta, como uma das duas pessoas que posso chamar de Si Hing, é com grande entusiasmo que finalmente termino a tradução de sua entrevista fantastica falando sobre chutes altos no Ving Tsun...  Acompanhem!

Si Hing Leo is not only a great person, fun, and that is always smiling (in contrast to the photos that I chose .. lol), but also has an ability to understand and execute the Ving Tsun techniques that honor the fame of the Ving Tsun in combat.

Besides being an honor to have this as one of the two people I can call Si Hing, is with great excitement that I finally finish the translation of the interview where he talking about  high kicks in Ving Tsun ... WATCH!
