The Carnival has its end and Peartree´s Blog already back in full speed with news directly from Méier Studio, Northern Zone of Rio de Janeiro!

Ludic: from the Latin: ludu, game

adj.,

for games, toys, entertainment, hobbies;

on the game as a component of human behavior.

The training of the young ones at Méier Studio, has been described here many times but perhaps never has been clear that it is not self defense for children, but a playful work that uses the movement of Ving Tsun, and latter Friday, we had one of the more fun training in a long time.

We always have a theoretical part, and I was a few weeks talking about the Shaolin Temple, a subject that never runs out and the yong ones love. This Friday, in a totally playful training, the 3 practioners present and more my Sidai Guilherme that always supports me on Fridays for a day's training style Shaolin.hehe

To make things work and create the appropriate scenario for them to really embark on that type of activity, we have to arrive early to prepare and everything. And there I am tying string.

Well, I laced in irons three pieces of string and left hanging

After that I just needed a few sheets of paper stick to the strings already hanging. (Please read this narrative with the voice of Macguyver in head ..)

The boys arrived on time and we started with the theoretical part, but this day was a little different because I read for them a chapter from one of my favorite books: "A Legend of Kung Fu Masters" by Grand-Master Moy Yat , Sitaigung. The boys loved it.

Now, a break: This is a classic scene from the mega-success of 1978 starring Jackie Chan, called The Drunken Master, which fortunately I have in my personal collection. Here, we see Jackie Chan in a punishment given by his father. Staying on that stance for a long time, with saucers of hot tea wich could drop it at any time and a big-size incense below him, to not leave the stance. The fun actor Fung Ging Man aid in punishment as we see in the scene, filling the saucer with tea.

Based on this scene, very common also in other films of that period about the Shaolin Temple, I´ve decided to start the boys with the following activitie:

Do the movements of the sequence Siu Nim Do with pots of plastic full of water on the top of their heads. The mission was as follows: all follow their Sihing Guilherme doing so, if the pot from someone fall down, the whole group would have to start again from the beggining. Because of this, everyone should be in perfect harmony, as you see in the picture, Guilherme and Lucas had already taken several baths hehe
Você deve estar pensando: "Meu Deus! Ele está desvirtuando as tradições do Ving Tsun!" , "Que tipo de treino é esse?!" , "Tragam tochas e queimem-no!" , etc etc...
Observe o pequeno Rodrigo acima....

You must be thinking: "My God, he is prejudicing the traditions of Ving Tsun! "What kind of training is this?" "Bring some torches and burn him!" Etc etc ... But my Sifu usually talks about you refresh your mind the whole time, obviously the best time to train that is during the Siu Nim Tau, and he also speaks that most practitioners "floats" over the form or the practice, not keeping their minds in doing at that moment. With this fun activity, I can tell you fellas, that all of them, without exception were never as "present" in every movement during the Siu nim Do as in this day, they all managed to "be there" and not "float" ...

Note the small Rodrigo above ....

Oitava tentativa..rsrs

Eighth try..hehe

décima-segunda tentativa! E eles não desistem!

tenth-second try! And they will not give up!

Above, a video recorded coincidentally when they managed to finish together without dropping recorded by my fiancée who was present.

In the second part of "Shaolin Training", the boys should pierce the roles previously hung in strings using Yat Choi Jung ji .. hehe Without support in any way, or hold the sheet with their other hand. It was guaranteed fun .

On mirror´s reflection, you can see when I had to make some adjustments on the papers that insisted on fall off. Also visible is the fun of the boys .. hehe Raphael (long hair on the left in the photo) pierced the paper.

Now, this is a scene of the movie "The Tai Chi Master"(1993) starring Jet Li.

Jet Li is Junbao, a practioner of Shaolin Temple that with his friend Jinbao(yeah, what a criativity for names!) by his side, trains always they can, even squizzing the clothes that they had to wash up.

Obviously, due to an analogy made by Sigung Leo Imamura in his workshop two weeks ago and with this movie in my head ...

Before the last training the boys have to twist the towel completely wet. But twist a towel indeed has a own reason, if you do not believe you can find ... hehe

At this time, Rodrigo and Lucas seemed to have emerged from a swimming class, but they still worked hard. It was very interesting to note that for the boys really seemed at some times that they were believing to participating of the day-to-day at Shaolin Temple (even according to a movie-vision of their Sihing) .. hehe

For a little rest and change the pace of the day, stopped for one more chapter of the book of Sitaigung Moy Yat.

O último treinamento dizia respeito a Raphael, Rodrigo,Lucas e Guilherme tentarem apagar as velas usando o Yat Ji Jung Choi (soco utilizado na prática do Ving Tsun).

The last training was about to Raphael, Rodrigo, Guilherme and Lucas try to delete the candles using Yat Ji Jung Choi (punch used in the practice of Ving Tsun).
Again you can ask: "What is that?"
The "magic" scenario for the boys had as objective to make them focus giving every punch, trying to make the best of them, to sail off. Lucas 12 times removed, Guilherme 7, Rodrigo 2 and Raphael one. As more Lucas could erase a candle, the focus of other trying to overcome it became confused, it yielded a good training.

Guilherme lighting one more time the fire erased by Lucas.

To conclude, I would emphasize interesting of the training: the horse stance was there, the punch was there, the focus was there, but the boys were at the “Shaolin Temple” ...

The Peartree´s Blog thanked the visit of all!

Come back always and see you on the next post!
