MOY LIN MAH: 18 YEARS (Moy Lin Mah: 18 anos)

Numa tarde qualquer de 2004, Si Fu pediu ao Si Suk Andre Cardoso(foto) que fosse comprar um refrigerante e um bolo: "Chama lá o Vlad! Hoje a Ursula completa nove anos na Família Kung Fu."

One afternoon in 2004, Si Fu asked Si Suk Andre Cardoso (photo) to buy a soda and cake: "Call Vlad there in the practice room, Ursula turns nine years in the Kung Fu Family today."

O bolo que o Si Suk Andre comprou era bem simples. Isso aconteceu porque o antigo Nucleo Jacarepaguá ficava num local muito ruim em relação à comércio. Como se não bastasse, Si Fu percebeu que o bolo estava fora da validade(risos). Mas comemos assim mesmo, sendo ele o primeiro.(risos). 

The cake Si Suk Andre bought was quite simple. This happened because the old MYVT Jacarepaguá School was in a very bad place in relation to grosseries. As if that wasn't enough, Si Fu realized that the cake was out of date (laughs). But we ate anyway, being he the first one (laughs).

Si Suk Ursula é uma pessoa tão importante em nossa Linhagem de Ving Tsun, que hoje para mim é difícil imaginar ela completando "apenas" nove anos na Família Kung Fu. Ela,na minha perspectiva, entrou naquela categoria de pessoas que parecem já ter nascido como Mestres. 

Si Suk Ursula is such an important person in our Ving Tsun Lineage that it is hard for me today to imagine her completing "only" nine years in the Kung Fu Family. She, from my perspective, fell into that category of people who seem to be born Masters.

Naqueles tempos de altas aventuras, "Moy Lin Mah" era apenas o seu "Nome Kung Fu". Não tínhamos a menor ideia da importância que esse nome teria uma década depois. Ainda que, por muitas vezes me perguntava a razão dela não ser uma mestra ainda. Certo dia, já com o Mo Gun na Barra, resolvi perguntar a razão de demorar tanto. Ela disse: "Não troco a minha história pela de ninguém." - Aquelas palavras cheias de fibra me marcaram profundamente. 

In those days of high adventures, "Moy Lin Mah" was just her "Kung Fu Name". We had no idea how important that name would be a decade later. Although, I often wondered why she wasn't a Master yet at the time. One day, at the Mo Gun already in Barra da Tijuca. I decided to ask why it was taking so long. She said, "I don't trade my story for anyone." Those words full of fiber marked me deeply.

2019....

Quinze anos se passaram desde aquela singela celebração no antigo Núcleo Jacarepaguá. Vestido de preto, você podia me ver ali no canto entre a audiência durante a Cerimônia da Família Moy Lin Mah no último dia 27 de Julho.
E também quinze anos depois, o nome "Moy Lin Mah", agora pertence não mais somente a Si Suk Ursula, mas à todos os seus descendentes legítimos que realizaram a Cerimônia de Baai Si com ela.

Fifteen years have passed since that simple celebration in the old Jacarepaguá School Dressed in black, you could see me there in the corner between the audience during the Moy Lin Mah Family Ceremony on July 27th.
Fifteen years later, the name "Moy Lin Mah" now belongs not only to Si Suk Ursula, but also to all her legitimate descendants who performed the Baai Si Ceremony with her.

Si Suk Ursula também mudou muito nesses quinze anos: A menina que sempre estava fazendo algo na área de Gestão do Núcleo Jacarepaguá com as mangas da sua camisa dobradas por conta do calor. Deu lugar a uma verdadeira Mestra de Ving Tsun. A primeira a ser titulada na história da International Moy Yat Ving Tsun Federation.
Lembro que quando eu mesmo me titulei Mestre, ela perguntou se eu já havia sentado na cadeira reservada ao Si Fu. Ela teria dito: "Ainda não, Pereira? Senta lá pra você ver como é...Sabe? Sentir... No início é meio estranho" - Disse ela rindo - "...Depois você acostuma..."

Si Suk Ursula has also changed a lot in those fifteen years: The girl who was always doing something in the former MYVT Jacarepaguá school 's management area with the sleeves of her shirt folded in the heat. She gave way to a true Ving Tsun Master. The first  female to be titled in the history of the International Moy Yat Ving Tsun Federation.
I remember when I was qualified  myself as a  Master, she asked if I had already sat in the chair reserved for Si Fu. She would have said, "Not yet, Pereira? Sit there so you can see how does it feels..  ... You know? Feel ... At first it's kind of weird" - She said laughing - "... Then you get used to ..."

A Si Suk Ursula ao longo dos anos foi abrindo cada vez mais sua vida para mim. Isso me permitiu com que eu pudesse ter contato com sua família e acompanhar o crescimento de sua filha.
Meu Si Fu disse certa vez que o sonho dele era poder envelhecer junto de seus discípulos. Realmente, é uma sensação única, ver a Rebeka virar uma adolescente, e lembrar que conheci a Si Suk Ursula porque matei aula e ao chegar no Mo Gun sem avisar, apenas ela estava lá.

Si Suk Ursula has been opening her life to me more and more over the years. This allowed me to get in touch with her family and to keep up with her daughter's growth.
My Si Fu once said that his dream was to grow old with his disciples. It really is a unique feeling to see Rebeka become a teenager, and to remember that I met Si Suk Ursula because I skipped class and upon arriving at Mo Gun without warning, only she was there.

Então acho que é assim que me sinto quando estou junto à Família Moy Lin Mah. Eu simplesmente sinto o carinho das pessoas por mim e eu também sinto por elas.
Membros dessa Família que acabo de conhecer, me tratam como se já convivêssemos a muito mais tempo. Acho que esse é o resultado da minha relação de carinho com a Si Suk Ursula.
Naquele Sábado, eu e Vitor (a.k.a. Vitinho) formamos uma banda chamada "Ameixeiras Atomicas" e cantamos Legião Urbana. O querido Ricardo(foto no centro), marido da Si Suk, não resistiu e se juntou à nós.


So I guess this is how I feel when I'm with the Moy Lin Mah Family. I just feel people's love for me and I feel for them too.
Members of this Family I have just met treat me as if we had been living for much longer. I think this is the result of my affectionate relationship with Si Suk Ursula.
That Saturday, me and Vitor (a.k.a. Vitinho) formed a band called "Ameixeiras Atomicas" and sang Legião Urbana(brazilian band). Dear Ricardo, Si Suk´s Husband (center photo) could not resist and joined us.

A partir de 2010 eu e Ricardo começamos a nos aproximar mais. Sabe, temos algumas coisas em comum: Ele toca violão, é flamenguista, mas acima de tudo, somos oriundos de Realengo e Rocha Miranda.
Lembro da vez em que Si Suk Ursula pediu que pegasse a Rebeka em sua casa, e voltasse com ela para o Núcleo que ficava no Condomínio Interlagos de Itaúna para brincar com a Julinha.
Quando Ricardo acabou de instalar a "cadeirinha" e prendeu a Rebeka no banco do meu carro,me disse: "Pereira...Pelo amor de Deus, toma cuidado com minha filha! Só tenho essa!" (Risos). Ainda rio quando lembro disso.

From 2010 Ricardo and I started to get closer. You know, we have a few things in common: He plays the guitar, his soccer team is Flamengo(So do I), but most of all, we come from Realengo and Rocha Miranda. North Zone of Rio, same culture.
I remember the time Si Suk Ursula asked me to take Rebeka from her house and return with her to the MYVT School that was in the Interlagos  of Itauna Condominium to play with Julinha.
When Ricardo just installed the "seat" and got Rebeka sat. He said to me: "Pereira ... For God's sake, beware of my daughter! I just have this one!" (Laughs). I still laugh when I remember that.

 Assisti as promoções e novas admissões da Família Moy Lin Mah naquela Cerimônia. Foi muito emocionante conhecer pessoas novas, dar um abraço em velhos conhecidos como Andre Beser, e perceber o claro amadurecimento da Família.No qual rostos que antes figuravam nos cantinhos do Mo Gun desta Família e nos eventos inter-Núcleos, como novas lideranças em potencial como no caso de Vitor.

I attended the Moy Lin Mah Family promotions and new admissions at that Ceremony. It was very exciting to meet new people, to hug old acquaintances like Andre Beser, and to see the clear maturity of the Family. In faces were once featured in the Mo Gun corners of this Family and in inter-school events as potential new leaders as in the case of Vitor.

Em Outubro do ano passado, peguei meu Si Suk Rodrigo Giarola(FOTO) numa manhã de Sexta na rodoviária e o levei até o Núcleo Copacabana. Como ainda era cedo, resolvemos tomar um café juntos do outro lado da rua. Dentre tantos assuntos, comentei sobre o quanto participar dos eventos da Família Moy Lin Mah era algo divertido para mim. Eu me sentia em casa, mas não tinha a responsabilidade da organização(risos). Como amo as artes marciais, em especial o Ving Tsun, podia explorar apenas meu lado entusiasta.

In October last year, I took my Si Suk Rodrigo Giarola (PHOTO) on a Friday morning at the bus station and took him to the Copacabana School. As it was still early, we decided to have a coffee together across the street. Among so many subjects, I commented about how attending the Moy Lin Mah Family events was fun for me. I felt at home, but I didn't have the responsibility of the organization (laughs). Since I love martial arts, especially the Ving Tsun, I could explore only my enthusiastic side.

Porém no evento do último dia 27, não estava mais sozinho. 

Comigo estavam desde cedo três To Dai. 

Além é claro, dos irmãos Kung Fu, Si Fu e Si Mo.

But in the event of the last day 27, I was no longer alone.

With me were three early To Dai.

Of course, with my KF brothers, Si Fu and Si Mo.

O momento da celebração foi muito especial. Foi bom ver todos relaxados. Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz e sua esposa. Sra Flavia Bambrilla deram um show dançando salsa. A Família Moy Lin Mah fez diferentes e estupendas perfomances, desde músicas e números de dança, que contagiaram a todos os presentes.

The moment of celebration was very special. It was good to see everyone relaxed. Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz and his wife. Mrs. Flavia Bambrilla gave a salsa dancing show. The Moy Lin Mah Family made different and stupendous performances, from songs and dance numbers, which spread to everyone present.

Resolvi fazer para o presente da Si Suk Ursula uma singela ilustração do momento em que ela entrou na Família Kung Fu em 1995. Eu deveria estar em algum local de Rocha Miranda com meus 11 anos vendo Cavaleiros do Zodiaco, e ela já iniciava sua trajetória para se tornar uma inspiração para muitas pessoas como eu.  Se não fosse esse dia, nada do que aconteceu depois se realizaria.

I decided to give Si Suk Ursula's gift a simple illustration of the moment she joined the Kung Fu Family in 1995. I was supposed to be somewhere in Rocha Miranda when I was 11 years old seeing Knights of the Zodiac, and she was already starting her career. become an inspiration to many people like me. If it wasn't for this day, nothing that happened next would come true.

A noite se encerrou com essa foto super especial. Realmente, me veio muito à mente durante toda a noite aquele dia do bolo no Núcleo Jacarepaguá quando ela completava 9 anos de sua trajetória. E nesta noite do dia 27, já como uma famosa mestra, sua Família Kung Fu é que completava os mesmos 9 anos.
Espero que possamos estar juntos no próximo ciclo de nove anos para viver mais bons momentos.

The night ended with this super special photo. It really came to mind a lot all night that cake day at the Jacarepaguá School when she was 9 years in Kung Fu Family. And on this night of the 27th, already as a famous Master, her Kung Fu Family was the same 9 years.
I hope we can be together in the next nine-year cycle to have more good times.
