It was another morning of 2001 (photo), and I returned with a friend from the mall where we had spent the morning instead of having gone to school. We were walking down the street, when I decided go into a newsstand that today no longer exists. At the time, we just had dial-up Internet connection so martial arts magazines on newsstands still existed, and that was when I found a magazine with Bruce Lee on the cover ... I bought without even seeing what was inside and what was my surprise when I saw the two pages that follow below ....

The magazine came with a story about Ving Tsun with photos of Si Sok  Ursula, now a Si Fu and the director of the MYVT Copacabana school (3150-5148), and Si Sok Monique, a person of great importance in the history of the MYVT Rio de Janeiro, and of course, the personal history of many practitioners.

"The origin of Bruce Lee art came from a woman

the chinese martial arts is the world´s most diversified , there are dozens of styles that vary according to the cultural, political and geographical context. This way its names are very interesting, could be different from each other using animal, places or human being names.
Some has its  origin in some mythical characters or some special technique. In this specific case , VING TSUN, is a name that came from its founder: Mrs Yim Ving Tsun.

According to the stone register by Grand-Master Moy Yat, the Shaolin Num Ng Mui, met a girl called Yim Ving Tsun and taught her Kung Fu, to defend herself against a local rufian who wanted to marry her by force. Later Yim Ving Tsun took this techiniques and put them into a structured system , and her followers later called it Ving Tsun in tribute to the founder.

Its told that the first person to call the art as Ving TSun Kuen (The art of Ving Tsun) was her husband Leug Bok Toa. Its also told that Leung Bok Toa was a specialist in Kung Fu and never abandoned his practice. When Yim Ving Tsun was watching her husband interest for martial arts, she used to make some comments , even she never tolding him about her secret art. But Leung Bok Toa, never took it seriously, thinking that a woman like her, would never understand the manly art of Kung Fu.

One day, Ving Tsun decided to tell his husband about her learning proccess with Ng Mui, but he could not believe in it. So she had to show him in a practical way, throwing him 3 times on the ground.Leung Bok Toa realized that he was in front of a great master of a unkown martial art. She shared her knowledge with him, and after her death he called that Ving Tsun Kuen."
