NEW LEGENDS OF KUNG FU MASTERS: "A STUPID QUESTION ABOUT 'WODDEN DUMMY' "

Era 2009, um ano desafiador. Eu estava prestes a completar dez anos na Família Kung Fu, e naquele ano Si Gung Leo Imamura nos visitou para dois dias de Seminário. Num dos dias, o tema seria o "Biu Ji" no outro, o "Mui Fa Jong". Eu, claro, participei dos dois dias de atividades.
Praticantes não só do Núcleo Rio de Janeiro(como era chamado na época), mas de outros estados estavam presentes. E Si Gung fez uma breve abertura do seminário sobre o Domínio "Mui Fa Jong", fazendo algumas considerações sobre o boneco de madeira (Muk Yan Jong). Ao final, ele teria perguntado: "Alguém tem alguma dúvida ou consideração?" - Olhando ao redor, percebi que ninguém se colocou, então levantei a mão. - "Vamos lá Thiago!" - Disse Si Gung. Todos fizeram silêncio, e percebendo que as atenções se voltaram para mim, comentei: "É uma pergunta meio idiota..." - Si Gung disse logo em seguida com a voz alta: "Ótimo! Adoro 'perguntas idiotas'! 'Perguntas idiotas' costumam ser as melhores!" . Alguns dos presentes riram, e resolvi fazer minha pergunta: "Si Gung, queria saber a razão do Muk Yan Jong não ter um braço na parte de cima." - Quando acabei de fazer a pergunta, alguns dos presentes que eram mais jovens e com o mesmo tempo de Família Kung Fu que eu, gargalharam alto. Desta vez porém, Si Gung não estava brincando quando disse: "Não sei o motivo das risadas. Esta foi a pergunta mais inteligente que me fizeram em todos estes anos sobre o 'Muk Yan Jong'. Acredito ser a dúvida de muitos aqui."
Até hoje, não sei se Si Gung disse isso para me preservar ou se de fato tinha sido uma boa pergunta...


It was 2009, a challenging year. I was about to turn ten years as a member of my Kung Fu Family, and that year Si Gung Leo Imamura visited us for two days of Seminary. One day, the theme would be "Biu Ji" on the other, "Mui Fa Jong". I, of course, participated in the two days of activities.
Practitioners not only from the MYVT Rio de Janeiro School (as it was called at the time), but from other states were present. And Si Gung gave a brief opening of the "Mui Fa Jong" Domain seminar, making some considerations about the wooden dummy (Muk Yan Jong). In the end, he would have asked, "Does anyone have any questions or concerns?" Glancing around, I noticed no one got in, so I raised my hand. - "Come on, Thiago!" - Said Si Gung. Everyone fell silent, and realizing that attention was turning to me, I said, "It's a stupid question ..." - Si Gung said in a loud voice, "Great! I love 'stupid questions'!' 'usually they are the best ones! " . Some of those people present laughed, and I decided to ask my question: "Si Gung, I was wondering why Muk Yan Jong didn't have an arm on the top."-  When I just asked the question, some of the present people that had the same time in Kung Fu Family than me, laughed out loud. This time, however, Si Gung was not joking when he said, "I don't know the reason for the laughter. This was the smartest question I have been asked in all these years about 'Muk Yan Jong'. I believe it is the doubt of many here."
To this day, I don't know if Si Gung said that to preserve me or if it had really been a good question ...

THE FIRST TIME I PLAY ON MUK YAN JONG (wooden dummy)

(A primeira vez que toquei no "Muk Yan Jong" foi para uma foto , 

sem permissão (risos) , após minha admissão. Tinha 15 anos.)

Existem várias formas de se interpretar o termo "Siu Nim Tau" (小念頭) . Em um vídeo que assisti de Si Taai Gung Moy Yat, ele diz que "Siu Nim Tau" (小念頭) é "Lembrar do início".
Esta interpretação mexeu muito comigo , pois muitas vezes temos uma pequena intenção de fazer algo, de nos envolvermos com algo, de buscar algo para nosso lazer, desenvolvimento, etc... E conforme os desafios vão surgindo, dentro ou fora desse círculo . Acabamos por nos esquecer do "início". Daquela motivação que nos levou a buscar essa atividade. No meu caso, o Ving Tsun.

There are several ways of interpreting the term "Siu Nim Tau" (小 念頭). In a video I watched from Si Taai Gung Moy Yat, he says "Siu Nim Tau" (小 念頭) is "To Remember the beginning".
This interpretation has moved me a lot , because we often have a small intention to do something, to get involved with something, to seek something for our entretaining, development, etc ... And as the challenges arise, inside or outside this circle. We just forget the "beginning". That motivation that led us to seek this activity. In my case, the Ving Tsun.

Um ano antes de conhecer meu Si Fu, todo o contato que eu tinha com o boneco de madeira, era através de filmes de Kung Fu da "Golden Harvest" ou "Shaw Brothers". Os mais recentes, à época , eram os filmes de Jackie Chan como "Detonando em Barcelona "(Wheels on Meals, 1982) , "Arrebentando em Nova York"(Rumble in the Bronx, 1994) e "O grande desafio" (Gorgeous,1999).
Para um adolescente, esses filmes eram extremamente divertidos e me encantavam. E ver Jackie Chan usando o "Muk Yan Jong" (boneco de madeira) me fazia sonhar com o dia que pudesse ter a oportunidade de ver um ao vivo.  Algo que eu duvidava que pudesse acontecer.

A year before meeting my Si Fu for the very first time, all the contact I had with the wooden dummy was through Kung Fu movies of "Golden Harvest" or "Shaw Brothers." The most recent films at the time were Jackie Chan's "Wheels on Meals" (1982), "Rumble in the Bronx," and "Gorgeous, (1999).
For a teenager, these movies were extremely fun and I loved them. And seeing Jackie Chan using "Muk Yan Jong" (wooden dummy) made me dream about the day I might have the opportunity to see one in real life. Something at the time , I deeply doubted could happen.

Finalmente em 1999 entrei na Família Kung Fu e a partir daquele momento, passei a contar os dias para conseguir acessar o "Muk Yan Jong". Importante dizer, que tantos anos atrás, não existia o "Ving Tsun Experience" como conhecemos hoje . E o contato com o boneco realmente era reservado à pessoas que tivessem a perseverança para acessar o Domínio Mui Fa Jong.

Finally in 1999 I joined the Kung Fu Family and from that moment, I started counting the days to get access to "Muk Yan Jong". Importantly, that so many years ago, there was no "Ving Tsun Experience" as we know it today. And contact with the dummy was really reserved for people who had the perseverance to access the Mui Fa Jong Domain.

De fato, poucos meses antes ainda no Núcleo Tindiba. Apenas por saber que poderíamos ter práticas naquela ferramenta que um ano antes vi por tantas vezes nos filmes de Jackie Chan. Era motivo suficiente para me matricular.

Depois de assistir os filmes de Jackie Chan e nem sonhar em ver um "Muk Yan Jong" ao vivo. Acho que com o tempo, muitas coisas se tornam comuns para nós, e nos tornamos insensíveis a pequenos detalhes que antes eram mágicos para nossos olhos. E em momentos assim, é importante "lembrar do início"["Siu Nim Tau" (小念頭)]

Posso lembrar como se fosse hoje , da primeira vez que pratiquei no "Muk Yan Jong". Era uma tarde de algum dia de semana em 2002. O "Jong" usado naquela oportunidade, é o que se encontra hoje no Núcleo Copacabana. E o mesmo que vi ao adentrar o antigo Núcleo Tindiba pela primeira vez.
Ele ficava num canto da enorme sala de prática. Eu tinha apenas 18 anos, dois joelhos bons e muita energia para gastar. Porém, muito mais importante, era o romantismo a respeito da vida que eu carregava.
Estávamos apenas eu e Si Fu, como era final de tarde, as luzes do local ainda não tinham sido acesas. Existia então uma penumbra na sala, e em meio aquele momento emblemático, Si Fu se apoiava no "Muk Yan Jong" de frente para mim. Disse-me algumas palavras sobre aquele momento. E foi então que um sonho se tornava realidade: Si Fu demonstrou as duas primeiras partes das oito da sequência do "Muk Yan Jong", e um pequeno sorriso involuntário apareceu em meu rosto.
Era minha vez de fazer. Senti o coração bater mais forte, foram longos quatro anos desde os filmes de Jackie Chan e aquele momento! Afinal, sonhos se realizam! E então comecei!

I can remember it as if it was today,  the first time I practiced in "Muk Yan Jong". It was an afternoon of some weekday in 2002. The "Jong" used on that occasion is what is found today in the Copacabana School. And the same one I saw as I entered the former Tindiba school for the first time.
He stood in the corner of the huge practice room. I was only 18, with two good knees and a lot of energy to spend. More important, however, was the romanticism about life I used to carry.
It was just me and Si Fu, as it was late afternoon, the lights of the place had not yet been lit. There were shadows all over the room, and in the middle of that emblematic moment, Si Fu leaned on the "Muk Yan Jong" facing me. He told me a few words about that moment. And then a dream came true: Si Fu demonstrated the first two parts of the eight of the "Muk Yan Jong" sequence, and a small involuntary smile appeared on my face.
It was my turn to do. I felt the heart beat stronger, it's been four long years since the Jackie Chan movies and that moment! After all, dreams come true! And then I started!

Existe uma certa mágica na vida, se soubermos vivê-la de coração. Aprendi isso com Si Fu, apesar de fazermos de formas muito diferentes. E hoje percebo quantos sonhos tive e ainda tenho chance de viver graças ao que aprendo com Si Fu. Porque mais importante do que os sonhos que já foram realizados, é a fibra que Si Fu me transmite para estar de pé a ponto de realizar o próximo sonho.

There is a certain magic in life if we know how to live it from the heart. I learned this from Si Fu, although we did it in very different ways. And today I realize how many dreams I had and still have a chance to live thanks to what I learn with Si Fu. Because more important than the dreams that have already been realized, it is the fiber that Si Fu  passes down to me to stand on the point of realizing the next dream.

Na última Terça-feira algo bem significativo aconteceu : Eu vi Si Fu demonstrar pela primeira vez a sequência do "Muk Yan Jong" desde 2002, quando ele mostrou para mim pela primeira vez.
Era uma tarde de Terça, na qual eu daria uma rápida passada no Mo Gun para junto de Clayton Meireles e André Almeida, tirarmos fotos "Si -To" com Si Fu. Eu tinha dado essa ideia uma semana antes, mas naquela tarde em especial, eu estava com um pouco de pressa, pois precisaria trabalhar a noite.
Em meio as fotos que estavam sendo tiradas por Iuri Alvarenga, Si Fu começou a fazer a sequência do Muk Yan Jong(foto acima)...

Last Tuesday something very significant happened: Si Fu demonstrated for the first time the sequence of "Muk Yan Jong" since 2002, when he showed me for the first time.
It was an afternoon of Tuesday, in which I would give a quick pass in the Mo Gun along  Clayton Meireles and André Almeida, to take photos "Si-To" with Si Fu. I had given that idea a week before, but that particular afternoon, I was in a bit of a hurry, because I needed to work at night.
In the middle of the photos being taken by Iuri Alvarenga, Si Fu started making the sequence of Muk Yan Jong (pictured above) ...

Um Si Fu, é a principal referência de uma Família Kung Fu. Por isso, muitas vezes falas e demonstrações suas, acabam por se tornar "receitas" ou "modelos" aos ouvidos e olhos do To Dai. A aparente displicência técnica de um Si Fu , nada mais é do que uma ferramenta que permite ao To Dai se desenvolver por si mesmo, inclusive , duvidando do que o Si Fu é ou não é capaz de fazer de fato.
Parece haver um consenso , de que quanto mais se demonstra um movimento ou uma forma a um praticante, mais ele será contaminado por quem a demonstrou. E caso tenha sido seu próprio Si Fu, os efeitos podem ser ainda piores.
Assim, não ter presenciado Si Fu executar a sequência do Muk Yan Jong desde meus 18 anos, não me parece tão estranho aos 33 levando em consideração tudo isso.

A Si Fu, is the main reference of a Kung Fu Family. That is why, often, speeches and demonstrations by him, become "recipes" or "models" to To Dai's ears and eyes. The apparent technical disloyalty of a Si Fu maybe is nothing more than a tool that allows To Dai to develop on its own, even doubting what Si Fu is or is not capable of doing.
There seems to be a consensus that the more a movement or form is demonstrated to a practitioner, the more he/she will be contaminated by those who have demonstrated it. And if it was your own Si Fu, the effects could be even worse.
So, have not witnessed Si Fu perform the sequence of Muk Yan Jong since I was 18 years old, does not seem so strange to the 33 years old me , taking into account all this.

Terça foi um dia complicado de uma semana complicada, mas valeu a pena o esforço de estar presente naquele momento. Não se sabe mais quando será a próxima vez que o agora Líder do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou fará uma demonstração como essa novamente.
Conseguimos registrar o momento em vídeo e em fotos de forma que agora teremos conosco esse material que com certeza será ainda mais importante para daqui a alguns anos.

Tuesday was a tricky one-week day, but it was worth the effort to be there at the time. No one knows when it will be the next time the now Leader of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Clan Leader will do a demonstration like this again.
We managed to record the moment in video and photos so that now we will have with us this material that will certainly be even more important in a few years.

Pereira acquires a muk yan jong (Pereira ganha um Muk Yan Jong)

Quando comecei minha prática no Muk Yan Jong em 2002, lembro de que enquanto caminhava com Si Fu em direção ao boneco que ficava exatamente neste canto do antigo Núcleo Jacarepaguá, eu sentia vontade de sorrir incontrolavelmente. Era um sonho se tornando realidade! Desde 1998, quando assisti Jackie Chan fazendo aquela coreografia esdrúxula num "Muk Yan Jong", no filme "Arrebentando em Nova Iorque"(Rumble in the Bornx,1994) , e achei que era o máximo. Queria ter essa oportunidade! E lá estava eu...

When I started my practice on Muk Yan Jong in 2002, I remember that as I walked with Si Fu toward the dummy that was right in this corner of the old Jacarepaguá School, I felt like smiling uncontrollably. It was a dream come true! Since 1998, when I watched Jackie Chan do that choreography on a "Muk Yan Jong" in the movie "Rumble in the Bornx(1994)", and I thought it was the best. I wanted to have that opportunity! And there I was ...

Meu To Dai Pedro Freire, que aparece na foto acima, tem a oportunidade de praticar formalmente com o Muk Yan Jong a quase um ano. Mas na foto acima, ele não pratica em qualquer Muk Yan Jong. E sim, em um presente dado  pelo Si Suk Wesley Cavalheiro! Um Muk Yan Jong com as medidas oficiais do Grande Clã Moy Yat e inclusive com a logo da Moy Yat Ving Tsun em seu topo.

My To Dai Pedro Freire, who appears in the photo above, has the opportunity to practice formally with Muk Yan Jong for almost a year. But in the picture above, he does not practice on any Muk Yan Jong. And yes, on a gift given by the Si Suk Wesley Cavalheiro! A Muk Yan Jong with the official measurements of the Grand Clan Moy Yat and even with the Moy Yat Ving Tsun logo on its top.

Pedro e meu irmão Kung Fu , Rodrigo Moreira "Moy Mo Lei", me encontraram em meu portão de manhã cedo, e juntos fomos a casa de Wesley para buscar o boneco de madeira. Eu realmente não podia acreditar que estava recebendo tal presente! Por diferentes motivos, se tratava de algo com grande valor! E trouxemos ele, como Pedro bem disse, numa espécie de "Tetris Humano" dentro de um Siena.

Pedro and my Kung Fu brother, Rodrigo Moreira "Moy Mo Lei", met me at my gate early in the morning, and together we went to Wesley's house to get the wooden dummy. I really could not believe I was getting such a gift! For different reasons, it was something of great value! And we brought it, as Pedro well said, into a kind of "Human Tetris" inside my car.

Estamos para nos mudar no Núcleo Méier, e esse presente é mais um motivo para isso. Pois esse Muk Yan Jong não cabe em nosso espaço atual. E eu, particularmente, me sinto usurpando uma grande oportunidade dos membros do Núcleo Méier praticarem com uma ferramenta tão incrivelmente feita em madeira , com atenção máxima a cada medida, ao deixá-lo em minha varanda.

We are about to move in the MYVT Meier School, and this gift is another reason for this. For this Muk Yan Jong does not fit in our present space. And I, in particular, feel myself usurping a great opportunity for the members of the Méier School to practice with a tool so incredibly made of wood, with maximum attention to each measure, by leaving it on my house.

 O Muk Yan Jong do Núcleo Méier, também é um presente. Niklas e seu pai Darwin, dois irmãos Kung Fu, doaram ele para o Núcleo Méier em 2014. Devido ao seu tamanho diferenciado, coube como uma luva em nosso espaço atual, e discípulos como Lucky , Fabiosa, André e o próprio Rodrigo , estão aprendendo graças a ele.

The Jong of Meier School, is also a gift. Niklas and his father Darwin, two Kung Fu brothers, donated it to the Méier School in 2014. Because of its size, it fitted like a glove in our current space, and disciples like Lucky, Fabiosa, André and Rodrigo himself are learning thanks to it.

Preciso dizer que me enche de orgulho, saber que quase que a totalidade dos objetos presentes no Núcleo Méier, desde seu início, são presentes da Família Kung Fu. Meu nome está no contrato de locação do imóvel, mas tirando isso, desconheço qualquer outro objeto do Mo Gun, deixando de lado os símbolos de legitimidade, que sejam meus, ou tenham sido adquiridos por mim. Isso me deixa feliz, por saber que aquela sala vazia de Abril de 2011, foi composta por várias pessoas.

I need to say that I am filled with pride, knowing that almost all of the objects present in the Méier School since its start are gifts from the Kung Fu Family. My name is in the lease of the property, but apart from that, I do not know any other object of the Mo Gun, leaving aside the symbols of legitimacy , that are mine, or have been acquired by me. This makes me happy to know that that empty room of April 2011 was made up of several people.

Minha casa, devido a chegada do Muk Yan Jong, que na foto acima, ainda estava em processo de montagem para morar. Também tem o potencial de receber os To Dai e os irmãos Kung Fu para práticas não só de Mui Fa Jong. Como Pedro, que tenta descobrir as nuances de uma nova parte acima, enquanto eu e minha esposa conversamos ao fundo.

My house, due to the arrival of Muk Yan Jong, which in the photo above, was still in the process of settling to live. It also has the potential to welcome the To Dai and the Kung Fu brothers for practices not only from Mui Fa Jong. A Story about "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁) [Uma história de "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁)]

A primeira vez que ouvi falar de "Da Hung Jong" ainda era 2002, mas foi em Novembro de 2005, numa Cerimônia chamada na época de "Conclusão do Nível Mui Fa Jong" que pude demonstrar pela primeira vez em público. Eu já havia encerrado o "Mui Fa Jong", mas a Cerimônia só aconteceu naquela noite no Restaurante Estrela do Sul do Recreio.

The first time I heard about "Da Hung Jong" was still 2002, but was in November 2005, in a ceremony called at the time "Mui Fa Jong Level's End Ceremony" I could demonstrate that for the first time in public. I had closed the "Mui Fa Jong" level, but the ceremony only happened that night in the Southern  Star Restaurant Dinner Hall.

Naquele ano, eu começava a deixar de ser um praticante voltado apenas para minhas questões e passei a me importar mais com o que dizia respeito a Família Kung Fu quando dois irmãos Kung Fu mais jovens, inesperadamente me escolheram como "Gaai Siu Yan"* (*Figura que apresenta um novo membro à Família Kung Fu na Cerimônia de Admissão do mesmo).

That year, I began to stop being a practitioner concerned only to my things and started to care more about what concerned to Kung Fu family too, when two younger Kung Fu brothers  unexpectedly chose me as "Gaai Siu Yan" * ( * Figure who introduces a new member to the Kung Fu Family in the  Admission Ceremony).

Dizem que todas as vezes que algum termo com o ideograma "Jong"(樁) de "Muk Yan Jong"(木人樁) por exemplo, aparece, significa que você não vai aprender nada de novo. Mas comigo isso não aconteceu. Me dá a impressão que a cada vez que eu tive que demonstrar o "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁)publicamente , minha jornada no Ving Tsun estava dando uma guinada para algo maior...

People say that every time any term with the ideogram "Jong" (樁) like in "Muk Yan Jong" (木人 樁) for example, appears, it means that you will not learn anything new from it. But to me it did not happen this way. It gives me the impression that every time I had to demonstrate "Da Hung Jong" (打 空 樁) publicly, my journey in Ving Tsun was taking a turn for something bigger ...

Em 2007(foto), junto de Vladimir Anchieta, meu irmão KF que aparece ao meu lado. Migramos da Família Moy Yat Sang para a Família Moy Jo Lei Ou, com a anuência de Si Gung Leo Imamura, devido ao nosso carinho e vontade de seguir Si Fu Julio Camacho como seus To Dai.
Mesmo dois anos depois, ainda não tinha acessado o "Luk Dim Bun Gwaan". Dentre outras razões, também havia preferido focar por dois anos apenas na prática de "Maai San Jong"* (* A parte de "Luta" propriamente dita).

 "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁) é uma expressão no vazio da sequência primeiramente apresentada para uso do "Muk Yan Jong"(木人樁). Comenta-se que você pode fazer o  "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁) da forma que quiser, mas que só tem um jeito "certo" de fazer... Bom, apoiando-se no Sistema, você entende isso com o tempo...

So, once again, on the night I was accepted in Moy Jo Lei Ou Family , I was asked to demonstrate the "Da Hung Jong" (打 空 樁)! Once again the "Da Hung Jong" (打 空 樁), and again a turn in my journey!

Finalmente em Agosto de 2016, vestido como um vendedor de carros usados, levantei-me durante mais uma Cerimônia de nossa Família Moy Jo Lei Ou, que agora já é um Clã . Para demonstrar o "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁). Não mais como o praticante sem rumo, não mais como o entusiasmado novo membro da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou. Mas como Líder da Família Moy Fat Lei.  Que naquele dia mais cedo, tinha participado da Fundação do Conselho de Membros Vitalícios do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou.

Finally in August 2016, dressed as a used cars salesman, I got up for another ceremony of our Family Moy Jo Lei Ou, who is now already a clan. To demonstrate the "Da Hung Jong" (打 空 樁). Si Fu costuma dizer que eu funciono melhor em momentos de crise. Bom, na época de escola eu só estudava mesmo quando estava com a corda no pescoço... rs Já ouvi Si Fu dizer, que o "Vazio" é um momento muito importante para trabalharmos para quando as coisas voltarem a acontecer. "Ocupar o vazio" quando ele surge, não é tarefa fácil. De fato, Si Fu também me disse algo como o próprio vazio, gerado para o praticante entender o "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁) sem que ninguém fique explicando já pode ser a própria experiência de "atuar no vazio" que o "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁) sugere. Apesar disso, Si Fu também , por várias vezes, me disse que gosto de "manipular muito as coisas", e no "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁) isso é muito fácil de se fazer...

Si Fu says that I function best in times of crisis. Well, in school time I would  just study even when I was with the rope around my neck ... lol I've heard Si Fu said that the "emptyness" is a very important time to work when things return to happen. "Occupy the empty" when it comes, it is no easy task. In fact, Si Fu also told me something like emptiness, generated for the practitioner to understand the "Da Hung Jong" (打 空 樁) without anyone explaining may already be the experience of "acting in the emptyness" that " Da Hung Jong "(打 空 樁) suggests. Nevertheless, Si Fu also repeatedly told me that I like too much "to manipulate" things, and "Da Hung Jong" (打 空 樁)  is very easy to do that ...

Quando me dirigi até o local para começar a executar a movimentação, senti minha respiração mudar e o coração acelerar. Do meu lado esquerdo, os irmãos Kung Fu mais novos. Pude ouvir alguém dizer: "É agora! É agora!" - A minha frente, os Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz, Ursula Lima e Felipe Soares. E devido a natureza do "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁), imaginei que eles pudessem estar pensando sobre o quanto tinha melhorado meu entendimento desde a última vez. E ao meu lado direito... Si Fu....Pude apenas imaginar ele pensando: "Só não faz muita m... Pereira..." - Com tanta pressão ao redor, algo bem interessante aconteceu: Lembro de disparar o primeiro movimento, depois lembro de um "Huen Sau" mal feito e finalmente, lembro de ter terminado e das palmas.

When I went to the place to start performing the move, I felt my breathing change and the heart beating fast. On my left, the Kung Fu younger brothers. Onde estive nos momentos que não lembro, eu não sei dizer. Mas posso afirmar que não lembro de uma experiência prática tão imersiva quanto aquela. E eu achei que a "Guinada" que sempre acompanha minhas demonstrações de "Da Hung Jong" (打空樁) desta vez seria por conta da Fundação do Conselho , mas acho que me enganei. Quando terminei e voltei pra mim, me senti diferente... Mas ainda não descobri como... E suado e tenso do jeito que estava quando ouvi as palmas e percebi que tinha acabado, só conseguia pensar numa boa Coca-Cola gelada...

Where I've been in the moments that I do not remember, I do not know. But I can say that I do not remember a practical experience as immersive as that. And I thought the "Turn in my journey" that always accompanies my demonstrations of "Da Hung Jong" (打 空 樁) this time would be on account of the Foundation of the Council, but I think I was wrong. (Does the Wooden Dummy stuck the Kung Fu of a practitioner?)O Muk Yan Jong trava a jornada de um praticante?

Quando estava começando no Ving Tsun, em nosso Mo Gun em Jacarepaguá, não se podia mexer no Muk Yan Jong se você não estivesse praticando esse Domínio. Por isso, quando numa tarde, Si Fu me conduziu até aquele boneco de madeira do antigo Núcleo Jacarepaguá (que hoje está disposto no Núcleo Copacabana), eu fiquei muito emocionado! "Finalmente era chegada a hora!" ....

When I was starting out in Ving Tsun in our Mo Gun in Jacarepagua, we could not play with the Muk Yan Jong if you were not practicing this domain. So when one afternoon,Si Fu led me to that wooden dummy of the former MYVT Jacarepagua School (which is now provided in Copacabana School), I was thrilled! "Finally it was time!" ....

Esse na foto acima sou eu praticando no Muk Yan Jong em 2002, tentando me entender com ele. Já tinha tido acesso as oito partes da sequência e após um ano praticando, tudo ainda era muito obscuro. E pela qualidade dos meus movimentos nas duas fotos, percebe-se que minha compreensão era baixíssima a respeito do que eu estava fazendo.

O que muitos praticantes parecem desconhecer, é que o Sistema Ving Tsun possui um Domínio chamado "Mui Fa Jong", que significa "Pilar da Flor de Ameixa". O Mui Fa Jong é o quarto Domínio do Sistema, e nele, temos acessos a dois aparelhos: o boneco de madeira "Muk Yan Jong" e o "Geuk Jong". Um conjunto de pilares presos no chão que chegam sempre a altura do praticante e que podem aparecer em conjuntos de três ou dez postes.

What many practitioners seem to ignore is that the Ving Tsun System has a domain called "Mui Fa Jong", which means "Plum Blossom Pillar". The Mui Fa Jong is the fourth Domain of the System , and in it, we have access to two devices: the wooden dummy "Muk Yan Jong" and "Geuk Jong". A set of stucked pillars on the ground that  may appear in sets of three or ten poles.

O Mui Fa Jong , não está inserido na lógica que chamamos de "mãos livres" como Siu Nim Tau, Cham Kiu e Biu Ji. O Mui Fa Jong trabalha o "Jong Faat". Traduzindo de forma rasteira, podemos perceber que pela primeira vez no Sistema você pratica o Componente Principal (Ou forma) do Domínio com elementos externos ao seu corpo. Por isso, mesmo que você queira praticar sozinho. Ao menos num primeiro momento o Muk Yan Jong será necessário.

The Mui Fa Jong is not inserted in the logic that we call "free hands" like Siu Nim Tau, Cham Kiu and Biu Ji. The Mui Fa Jong works the "Jong Faat". Translating , we can see that for the first time in the system a practice of the Principal Component (or form) of the Domain with external elements to your body. So even if you want to practice alone. At least at first the Muk Yan Jong is required.

Muitos praticantes "travam" nesse Domínio ao meu ver, porque não percebem que estão numa nova trilogia. Uma trilogia que vai sempre lidar com elementos externos, sejam pilares, bastões ou facas. Você nunca mais trabalhará apenas na extensão do seu próprio corpo. E para aqueles que até esse momento do Sistema não alcançaram uma compreensão a respeito da "Dimensão Kung Fu" da prática, terão dificuldades em ver, que nada de novo é apresentado neste Domínio, apenas os "Jiu Sik"(que muitos chamam de "Técnicas") que aprenderam na Trilogia Fundamental realizados em função de um boneco que aparentemente não se move.

Many practitioners 'get stucked' in this domain in my view, because they do not realize they are in a new trilogy. A trilogy that will always deal with external elements as pillars, staffs or knives. You'll never work only to the extent of your own body again. And for those who until this point still  did not reach an understanding about the "Dimension Kung Fu" of the practice,will have difficulty seeing, that nothing new is presented in this domain, only the "Jiu Sik" (which many call " techniques ") they learned in the Fundamental Trilogy according to a Dummy that apparently does not move.

Quando o praticante chega nesse Domínio, tudo pode parecer muito confuso, pois ele já possui um Kung Fu considerável, mas que carece de entendimento no que se refere a interação com o boneco. Por isso , seu processo neste Domínio se torna penoso e arrastado. Pois com "a xícara sempre cheia" com o que aprendeu no Siu Nim Tau , Cham Kiu e Biu Ji. Não lhe sobra mais espaço para nenhuma tomada de consciência .
Outras vezes, praticantes como eu quando tive acesso a esse Domínio, são verdadeiros bruta-montes que espancam a madeira como se não houvesse amanhã e não percebem a dificuldade num primeiro momento. Mas num belo dia, seu desenvolvimento estagna e ele não entende o motivo.
Em 2009, eu e dois irmãos Kung Fu produzimos o short-movie abaixo que brinca exatamente com as dificuldades de entender como explorar o Boneco de madeira, e tirar dele o conhecimento necessário...

When the practitioner reaches this domain, everything can seem very confusing, because he or she already has a considerable Kung Fu, but he or she lacks understanding regarding the interaction with the dummy. So your process in this domain becomes painful and dragged. Because with an "always full cup" with what he learned in Siu Nim Tau, Cham Kiu and Biu Ji. Other times, practitioners like me when I had access to that domain,  just beat the wood as there is no tomorrow and do not realize the difficulty at first. But one fine day, his development stagnates and he does not understand why.

Eu queria compartilhar de alguma forma com vocês um segredo para se tornar cada vez mais proeminente na prática do Muk Yan Jong: Permaneça na Família!

Um belo dia, pode ser amanhã ou daqui a dez anos. Você vai estar no Mo Gun ou em algum lugar que não se sabe onde, e haverá uma pessoa praticando no boneco de madeira, ou uma conversa sobre o tema estará acontecendo. Nesse momento, algo será dito e você compreenderá num nível de profundidade que jamais sonhou. E você não vai entender como. Mas você ficará maravilhado!

I wanted to share with you in any way a secret to become increasingly prominent in the practice of Muk Yan Jong: Stay in the Family!
One day may be tomorrow or in ten years. You will be in Mo Gun or somewhere that does not know where, and there will be a person practicing in the wooden dummy, or a conversation on the topic will be happening. At that point, something will be said and you will understand in a level of depth that ever dreamed. And you will not understand how. But you will be amazed!

O segredo número dois também é muito especial: Desta vez, você estará sozinho cuidando de alguém que está praticando esse Domínio. Dentro de você, a permanente humildade daqueles que sabem que ainda nada sabem de fato estará sempre presente. 

Nesse momento, você coloca todo o seu coração para mobilizar ao máximo essa pessoa a compreender mais e mais seu próprio processo. E então algo mágico vai acontecer: Você vai se perceber tecendo comentários ou propondo dinâmicas a respeito dos "Jiu Sik" da forma, e vai pensar: "Será que falei demais? Bom, até que não foi tão ruim assim... Mas espera! Quando eu aprendi isso que acabei de falar tão bem a respeito?"....

The number two secret is also very special: This time you'll be alone caring for someone who is practicing this domain. Inside you, the permanent humility of those who know they still know nothing will always be present.
At this point, you put your whole heart to mobilize the most of this person to understand more and more his own process. Si Gung (foto)  fala do Kung Fu como um processo acumulativo. Si Baak Nataniel , Diretor do Núcleo Brasília , fala a respeito do Kung Fu enquanto um processo de aprender a como aprender. E isso se torna claro, quando você percebe que nos momentos que mais fez força para entender foi quando esteve mais longe. E num dia que você menos espera você entende tudo. 

Sobre a mobilização do Mui Fa Jong dita acima, Si Gung fala disso: "Quando você precisa o Kung Fu está lá".... Por isso você o acha, mas nem ao menos se lembra quando ele chegou até você.

Si Gung (photo) speaks of Kung Fu as an accumulative process. Si Baak Nataniel, Director of the Brasilia School, talks about the Kung Fu as a process of learning how to learn. That becomes clear when you realize that the moments that most struggled to understand was when you were far away. And one day you least expect you understand everything.
On the mobilization of Mui Fa Jong said above, Si Gung talks about it: "When you need the Kung Fu is there" .... So you think, but not even remember when it came to you.

E então vem a lição mais importante que ouvi nos últimos tempos de Si Fu a respeito de como praticar o Domínio Mui Fa Jong, por ocasião do acesso de Pedro Freire(foto) e outros membros a esse Domínio: Si Fu falou sobre a autonomia que esse Domínio proporciona ao praticante. Não cabe mais uma ideia de esperar pelo Si Hing, Si Fu ou quem quer que seja para você aprender. O Muk Yan Jong estará pendurado sempre no Mo Gun aguardando por você. - "É só pegar a chave do Mo Gun, abrir e praticar..." - Disse ele. 

Esse "Investimento paciente", como chama Si Gung, é a chave para que o Kung Fu venha quando você o invocá-lo ou "sumonizá-lo" como diria meu Si Dai e Mestre de jogos de RPG Rodrigo Moreira.rs) . Por isso, a confiança em seu Si Fu é indispensável. Mas afinal, o que na jornada do Ving Tsun não teria a ver com confiar em seu Si Fu?

And then comes the most important lesson I heard recently from Si Fu about how to practice the Domain Mui Fa Jong, at the Pedro Freire (photo)access  and other members of this domain: Si Fu talked about the autonomy that this domain provides for the practitioner. Ypu can not keep the  idea of waiting for your Si Hing, Si Fu or anyone to learn from only. The Muk Yan Jong is always hanging in Mo Gun's wall waiting for you. - "Just get the key to Mo Gun, open and practice ..." - he said.
This "patient investment" as  Si Gung says, is the key to the Kung Fu come when you invoke or  "summon it" as would say my Si Dai and RPG Master Rodrigo Moreirs lol). So, trust in your Si Fu is indispensable. But after all, what in the journey of Ving Tsun would not have to do with trust 
your Si Fu?
