LOVE IN CHINESE CULTURE PART 6: HONESTY AND LOVE IN BRUSSELS.

Às vezes quando fecho os olhos e lembro de quando estivemos na Europa, tudo parece um sonho. E nesse sonho real, um dos lugares em que estivemos foi Bruxelas, na Bélgica.

Desembarcamos no aeroporto de Bruxelas, e sem maiores problemas nos dirigimos ao estacionamento onde chamei um Uber. O dia já estava quase no fim e fazia frio. De repente, um homem de origem árabe chegou com um carro preto muito bonito. Ele era sério e estava bem vestido. Nos ajudou a colocar as malas no carro, e sem falar mais nada, começou a dirigir.
No som do carro, tocavam músicas em árabe e o locutor também falava em Árabe. E uma música em especial tocava sem parar, a qual infelizmente nunca descobri o nome. E mesmo, mais tarde já no Brasil, baixei o aplicativo daquela estação chamada "ARABEL", mas a tal música nunca mais tocou...

Sometimes when I close my eyes and remember when we were in Europe, everything feels like a dream. And in that real dream, one of the places we were in was Brussels, Belgium.
We got off at Brussels airport, and without any problems we headed to the parking lot where I called an Uber. The day was almost over and it was cold. Suddenly, a man of Arab origin arrived with a beautiful black car. He was serious and well dressed. He helped us to put our bags in the car, and without saying anything else, he started driving.
In the car stereo, songs played in Arabic and the speaker also spoke in Arabic. And one song in particular played over and over, which unfortunately I never found the name. And even, later in Brazil, I downloaded the app of that radio station called "ARABEL", but that song never played again ...

Eu havia estudado Bruxelas e andava com um livreto cheio de anotações sobre lugares interessantes para visitar. Acontece que Si Fu simplesmente falava: "Vem cá! Vamo' por ali ó!"
Após chegarmos ao razoável hotel Ibis City Centre na rua Joseph Plateau nº 2, tivemos cerca de uma hora para nos recompormos da viagem desde a Polônia, e nos encontramos no saguão do hotel. Estava frio suficiente do lado de fora para finalmente usar minha querida touca da Adidas comprada em Lisboa, mesmo sob protestos de Si Fu, que não achou ela tão bonita como eu achei.
Andamos um pouco para decidirmos onde poderíamos jantar, e escrevendo agora, bate uma saudade daqueles momentos...

I had studied Brussels and had a booklet full of notes about interesting places to visit. It turns out that Si Fu simply used to say: "Come here! Let's go over there!"
After arriving at the reasonable Ibis City Centre hotel on Joseph Plateau Street  , we had about an hour to recover from the trip from Poland, and found ourselves in the hotel lobby. It was cold enough outside to finally wear my beloved Adidas cap bought in Lisbon, even under protests from Si Fu, who didn't think it was as cool as I think.
We walked a little to decide where we could have dinner, and writing now, I miss those moments ...

Achamos uma churrascaria(FOTO) brasileira (risos) no meio da Praça Saint Catherine. E resolvemos entrar. Nem todo mundo falava inglês, e isso incluia o garçom que nos atendeu. Ele estava muito atrapalhado. Fomos salvos por um garçom português que ficou nosso amigo e nos servia a carne do rodízio primeiro(risos). Foi então que perguntei à Si Fu, se havia problema pedir uma cerveja... Porém, mal eu sabia que receberia uma grande lição sobre amor e honestidade....

We found a Brazilian steakhouse (PHOTO) (laughs) in the middle of Saint Catherine Square. And we decided to enter. Not everyone spoke English, and that included the waiter who served us. He was very upset. We were saved by a Portuguese waiter who became our friend and served us the meat of the "rodizio" service ,first (laughs). It was then that I asked Si Fu if it was okay to order a beer ... However, little did I know I would receive a great lesson on love and honesty ....

Quando fiz essa pose, Si Fu tirou os olhos da câmera e olhando além da tela do telefone, me mirou com eles e perguntou: "É sério, Pereira?" . Meu irmão Kung Fu, Claudio Teixeira começou a rir. E comentou brincando: "Acho que ele vai colocar no Tinder, Si Fu".  E todos riram... (Risos).

When I did this pose, Si Fu took his eyes off the camera and looking beyond the phone screen, looked at me with them and asked: "Are you serious, Pereira?" . My Kung Fu Brother, Claudio Teixeira started to laugh. And he jokingly commented: "I think he will put it on Tinder, Si Fu". And everyone laughed ... (Laughter).

Depois que os risos cessaram, Si Fu me pediu para explicar como eu fazia para conquistar uma pessoa. Eu achei que ele estivesse brincando, mas não era o caso.
Si Fu me conhece desde os quinze anos de idade, e talvez por isso, parece sempre saber onde vou chegar com minha linha de raciocínio. Assim, ele amarra ao final, uma lição que costumo carregar comigo depois.
Em poucas linhas, expliquei a ele uma coisa ou outra, uma frase ou outra... Claudio riu e Si Fu também. Porém, Si Fu disse: "Por que você não tenta ser honesto nessas horas, Pereira?Sem camdas a mais?"

After the laughter stopped, Si Fu asked me to explain how I behave myself in a date. I thought he was kidding, but that was not the case.
Si Fu has known me since I was fifteen years old, and maybe that's why he always seems to know where I'm going with my line of reasoning. Thus, he ties up at the end, a lesson that I usually carry with me later.
In a few lines, I explained one thing or the other, a sentence or two ... Claudio laughed and Si Fu laughed. However, Si Fu said: "Why don't you try to be honest at these times, Pereira? Without any extra layers?"

Dentro de minhas vivências,descobri que existem diversas formas de se falar a palavra "Herói" em chinês, sendo algumas delas bem específicas para o tipo de herói do qual se quer falar. Uma delas, se tornou mundialmente conhecida, pois é o título do filme "Herói" de 2002 (FOTO acima).
No título desse filme, "Herói" se escreve com os ideogramas: 英雄 , transliterando-se em cantonês como "Jing Hung".
Porém, foi em 2010 enquanto passava a noite separando materiais com Si Gung e Si Suk Navarro na antiga "Casa dos Discípulos", que Si Gung me mostrou a capa de uma revista famosíssima chamada "San Mo Hap" que significa algo como "Os novos heróis marciais". Porém, prefiro chamá-la de "Os novos Mou Hap".

Within my experiences, I discovered that there are several ways to speak the word "Hero" in Chinese, some of which are very specific to the type of hero you want to talk about. One of them became known worldwide, as it is the title of the 2002 film "Hero" (PHOTO above).
In the title of this film, "Hero" is written with the ideograms: 英雄, transliterating into Cantonese as "Jing Hung".
However, it was in 2010 while spending the night separating materials with Si Gung and Si Suk Navarro in the old "House of Disciples", that Si Gung showed me the cover of a very famous magazine called "San Mo Hap" which means something like "The new martial heroes". However, I prefer to call it "The new Mou Hap".

"Mo Hap" (武俠), é um termo diferente de  "Jing Hung"(英雄) usado por Zhang Yi Mou como título original de sua obra prima "Herói"(2002), conforme citado acima.  Isso acontece, porque "Mo Hap" (武俠) é um "Herói" que vive num mundo imanente chamado "Gong Wu"(江湖), presente nos romances chineses que tratam das artes marciais. E graças ao filme "O Tigre e o Dragão"(Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,2000) que foi todo falado em mandarim. A pronúncia em mandarim deste termo ficou mais conhecida no ocidente : "Jiang Hu", que significa "Rios e Lagos".
Assim, se os artistas marcias vivem numa sociedade imanente chamada "Mo Lam"(武林), os artistas marciais dos romances chineses vivem no equivalente chamado "Gong Wu"(江湖) ou "Jiang Hu"(em mandarim).

"Mo Hap" (武俠), is a different term from "Jing Hung" (英雄) used by Zhang Yi Mou as the original title of his masterpiece "Hero" (2002), as mentioned above. This is because "Mo Hap" (武俠) is a "Hero" who lives in an immanent world called "Gong Wu" (江湖), present in Chinese novels dealing with martial arts. And thanks to the movie "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon"(2000) which was all spoken in Mandarin. The Mandarin pronunciation of this term became better known in the West: "Jiang Hu", which means "Rivers and Lakes".
Thus, if Martian artists live in an immanent society called "Mo Lam" (武林), martial artists in Chinese novels live in the equivalent called "Gong Wu" (江湖) or "Jiang Hu" (in Mandarin).

De volta ao jantar com Si Fu e Claudio na churrascaria em Bruxelas. Senti como se aquela noite leve e o jantar divertido, mudassem de repente de tom. Talvez tenha feito uma expressão de quem não compreendeu a dimensão do que Si Fu dizia, quando  me indagou porque eu não era "honesto sobre quem de fato eu era" nas relações com mulheres. Porém,  para me ajudar ele continuou: "Lembra da entrevista do Bruce Lee, em que ele diz que o último nível de um artista marcial é ser honesto?" - Fiz que sim com a cabeça. - "Então... O problema de se relacionar com camadas escondidas Pereira, é que podem acontecer duas coisas: Ou você acha que se você for você mesmo e não a personagem que você criou, a pessoa não vai gostar tanto de você. Ou, você vai cansar de viver essa personagem...Porque uma hora cansa..." - Si Fu encerrou depois de uma pequena pausa, com uma piada sobre ser honesto... Todos riram. Então era como se ele fosse um maestro, mudando mais uma vez o tom da conversa e tornando ela leve novamente. Porém, aquelas palavras me fizeram refletir. Afinal, muitos de nossos comportamentos, simplesmente não percebemos. E o provimento de "Vida Kung Fu", tem esse potencial de tomada de consciência.

Back to dinner with Si Fu and Claudio at the steakhouse in Brussels. I felt like that light night and the fun dinner suddenly changed its tone. Perhaps I made an expression of someone who did not understand the dimension of what Si Fu said, when he asked me why I was not "honest about who I really am" in relationships with women. However, to help me, he then continued:: "Do you remember Bruce Lee's interview, where he says that the last level of a martial artist is to be honest?" - I said "yes" with my head. - "So ... The problem  when you hide layers in a relationship, Pereira. Is that two things can happen: Or do you think that if you are yourself and not the character you created, the person will not like you so much. Or , you will get tired of living this character ... Because one hour you will get tired ... "- Si Fu ended after a short pause, with a joke about being honest ... Everyone laughed. So it was like he was a Maestro, changing the tone of the conversation making it light again. However, those words made me reflect. After all, many of our behaviors, we just don't notice. And the provision of "Kung Fu Life", has this potential for awareness.

O filme "O Clã das Adagas Voadoras"(House of the Flying Daggers,2004), é a continuação de "Herói"(2002). E este filme, até mais do que o anterior, deixa bem claro que toda a história se passa em "Rios e Lagos"["Gong Wu"(江湖) ou "Jiang Hu"(em mandarim)].
Em um dos episódios de seu programa no canal "Kung Fu Life"(FOTO acima), meu Si Gung Leo Imamura, indaga o espectador, sobre como seria possível que dois dos personagens principais, se apaixonassem em apenas três dias. E sobre isso, ele diz que a resposta pode ser entendida através da expressão "Experiência Significativa". Si Gung diz que esta experiência mobilizadora, diz respeito a um momento em que rompemos com nossas crenças individualistas, através de um desnível do que se experimenta e do que se crê. Ele complementa, dizendo que nessa "Experiência Significativa", nossa conduta individualista é rompida por uma percepção transindividual, onde o sentimento de humanidade, é aflorado, a partir do reconhecimento da existência do outro.

The 2004 movie "House of the Flying Daggers".Is the sequence of "Hero" (2002). And this film, even more than the previous one, makes it very clear that the whole story takes place in "Rivers and Lakes" ["Gong Wu" (江湖) or "Jiang Hu" (in Mandarin)].
In one of the episodes of his program on the channel "Kung Fu Life" (PHOTO above), my Si Gung Leo Imamura, asks the viewer, about how it would be possible for two of the main characters to fall in love in just three days. And about that, he says the answer can be understood through the expression "Significant Experience". Si Gung says that this mobilizing experience concerns a moment when we break with our individualistic beliefs, through a gap in what is experienced and what is believed. He complements, saying that in this "Significant Experience", our individualistic conduct is broken through a transindividual perception, where the feeling of humanity is touched on, based on the recognition of the existence of the other.

Isso casa bem com o que Si Fu disse a mim enquanto caminhávamos juntos certa vez em direção ao antigo Restaurante Deli Delícia, para almoçarmos na Barra da Tijuca. Segundo ele, o trabalho de um Si Fu no que diz respeito ao desenvolvimento humano de um To Dai. Não tem a ver com colocar mais coisas, mas de ajudar o To Dai a retirar camadas, que o impedem de se expressar como ser humano. E naquele momento, naquela mesa de restaurante em Bruxelas, foi exatamente o que aconteceu. Passei a entender de repente, como usava técnicas que me impediam de me expressar como eu de fato sou. 

This matches well with what Si Fu said to me as we walked together once towards the old Deli Delícia Restaurant, to have lunch in Barra da Tijuca. According to him, the work of a Si Fu with regard to the human development of a To Dai. It is not about adding more things, but about helping To Dai remove layers, which prevent him from expressing himself as a human being. And at that moment, at that restaurant table in Brussels, that's exactly what happened. I suddenly understood how I used techniques that prevented me from expressing myself as I really am.

Si Gung então finaliza seu raciocínio sobre o filme de Zhang Yi Mou, dizendo que ao tomarmos consciência do outro, o tempo se dissolve. E com isso, as noções temporais se tornam relativas. 

E é o que se vê no filme, no qual bastaram-se apenas três dias, em que dois humanos se apaixonassem, em função das experiências significativas que vivenciaram nesse período. 

Si Gung then finishes his lecture about the Zhang Yi Mou film, saying that when we become aware of the other, time dissolves. And with that, temporal notions become relative.

And that's what you see in the film, in which it took just three days, in which two humans fell in love, due to the significant experiences they had during that period.

Si Fu já me disse mais de uma vez por razões diferentes, mas que aqui, me atenho ao contexto do artigo: "Pereira, você é um dos caras mais inteligentes, e mais burros que conheço também". 

Si Fu has already told me more than once for different reasons, but here, I stick to the context of the article: "Pereira, you are one of the smartest, and also ,dumbest persons I know".

Curiosamente, em uma cena de outro clássico sobre "Mo Hap" (武俠) de 2000 chamado "O Tigre e o Dragão"(Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) do genial Ang Lee. O personagem Sir Te diz algo parecido a Shu Lien. Ele tenta alertá-la sobre não ela não estar sendo capaz de enxergar os sentimentos de Li Mu Bai, mas a convicção dela, atrapalha seu discernimento. Sobre isso, Sir Te diz: "...Quando diz respeito à sentimentos, mesmo os 'Mo Hap' (武俠) podem ser idiotas..."

Talvez, a personagem Shu Lien, faltasse a experiência significativa que causaria o desnível, sugerido por Si Gung em seu canal, entre o que se experimenta e o que se crê. 

Interestingly, in a scene from another 2000 classic about "Mo Hap" (武俠) called "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon", by the brilliant Ang Lee. The character Sir Te says something similar to Shu Lien. He tries to warn her about not being able to see Li Mu Bai's feelings, but her conviction hinders his judgment. About this, Sir Te says: "... When it comes to feelings, even 'Mo Hap' (武俠) can be idiots ..."

Perhaps, the character of Shu Lien, lacked the significant experience that would cause the gap, suggested by Si Gung in his channel, between what is experienced and what is believed.

KF FAMILY VISITS KUNG FU SISTER´S NEW OFFICE GRAND OPENNING

Carmen Maris "Moy Kat Ming", é discípula do Mestre Senior Julio Camacho, assim como eu. Isso faz dela minha irmã Kung Fu. E com muito carinho, ela convidou os membros da Família Kung Fu à comparecerem na linda nova sede de seu empreendimento na Barra da Tijuca.
Na foto acima, vemos Carmen sorrindo em função de alguma coisa que nosso irmão Kung Fu Fabiano Silva havia dito, e mais ao centro, temos Rodrigo Moreira. Sem dúvidas, uma foto bem divertida, que ilustra bem o clima deste evento num fim de tarde de Sexta.

Carmen Maris "Moy Kat Ming", is a disciple of Senior Master Julio Camacho, just like me. That makes her my Kung Fu sister. And with great affection, she invited the members of the Kung Fu Family to come to the beautiful new headquarters of her enterprise in Barra da Tijuca(West zone of the city).
In the picture above, we see Carmen smiling due to something that our Kung Fu brother Fabiano Silva had said, and more in the center, we have Rodrigo Moreira. Undoubtedly, a fun photo, which illustrates the mood of this event on a Friday afternoon.

Certa vez Si Fu me falou sobre as três maneiras de um membro da Família Kung Fu se tornar uma liderança: Uma delas seria porque o Si Fu assim desejou. Curiosamente, temos hoje um cenário no qual André Guerra e Guilherme de Farias são os Diretores do Núcleo Barra, e meu Si Hing Leonardo Reis é o responsável técnico. Principalmente no que diz respeito ao meu Si Hing, Si Fu foi bem enfático na última Cerimônia Tradicional sobre sua indicação.
Outra forma de se tornar uma liderança, é quando naturalmente a coisa vai se configurando. Ninguém te escolhe, simplesmente uma soma de eventos se sucedem e a coisa acaba por acontecer. 
Por último, esse processo ocorre por aclamação da Família. E se eu tivesse que escolher em qual das três possibilidades  Carmen se encaixa, eu diria que nesta última.

Si Fu once told me about the three ways that a member of the Kung Fu Family could become a leader: One of them would be, because Si Fu so desired. Interestingly, today we have a scenario in which André Guerra and Guilherme de Farias are the Directors of  Barra School, and my Si Hing Leonardo Reis is  in charge of the transmission. Especially with regard to my Si Hing, Si Fu was very emphatic in the last Traditional Ceremony about his nomination.
Another way to become a leader is when things naturally take shape. Nobody chooses you, just a sum of events happen and the thing ends up happening.

Finally, this process occurs by acclamation of the Family. And if I had to choose which of the three possibilities Carmen fits into, I would say that in the last one.

Carmen(FOTO) chegou à Família Kung Fu a pouquíssimo tempo, mas já é o suficiente para que Si Fu se refira à ela como "...uma importante discípula". Mas este é o sentimento de todos nesse momento. Se você apenas abrir qualquer página de um dos irmãos Kung Fu que se refira à ela. Uma admiração pelo seu empenho, e principalmente, pelo carinho com o qual realiza as coisas. É algo sempre presente.
Carmen dificilmente força qualquer coisa ou tenta se impor. Quando se vê diante de um impasse, ela simplesmente o acolhe e propõe uma saída sutil. Outra característica interessante, é que apesar de sua experiência de vida, Carmen se entrega às relações do círculo marcial, de forma a não deixar de considerar, nem por um momento, uma orientação de alguém mais antigo. Inclusive, ajudando a melhorar essa orientação, em alguns casos.
Essas e outras características, fizeram dela hoje uma unanimidade em nossa Família.

Carmen (PHOTO) arrived at the Kung Fu Family in a very short time, but it is enough for Si Fu to refer to her as "... an important disciple". But this is everyone's feeling at the moment. If you just open any page of one of the Kung Fu brothers that refers to her. An admiration for her commitment, and especially, for the affection with which she does things. It is always present.
Carmen hardly forces anything or tries to impose herself. When faced with an impasse, she simply welcomes it and proposes a subtle way out. Another interesting feature is that, despite her life experience, Carmen gives herself over to the relationships of the martial circle, so as not to fail to consider, even for a moment, an orientation from someone older in Kung Fu. Including, helping to improve this orientation, in some cases.
These and other characteristics have made her unanimous in our Family today.

Não sei se pode se chamar de "slogan", pois não sou da área. Mas ao abrir o site da empresa Matsya Produções, que Carmen abria oficialmente as suas novas portas naquele fim de tarde. Lê-se: "Imagine, a gente realiza".  Esse mote é tão convidativo, que chega a ser quase irresistível. 

A Matsya Produções, é uma fábrica de entretenimento com mais de dez anos de experiência. E ali, entre familiares, parceiros, irmãos Kung Fu e convidados. Apresentava sua nova e lindíssima sede. 

Não canso de admirar esse espaço, pois sempre penso que se fosse eu a contratar um serviço, já estaria parcialmente enviesado para fechar negócio já quando passasse da porta. Digo isso pois o ambiente expressa bem, a atenção cuidadosa com a qual as produções são realizadas. E isso me inspirou também com meu próprio Mo Gun. Mas essa é outra história. 

I don't know if it can be called a "slogan", because I'm not from the area. But when opening the website of the company Matsya Productions, which Carmen officially opened its new doors that evening. You can read: "Imagine, we do it". This motto is so inviting, that is almost irresistible.
Matsya Productions, is an entertainment factory with more than ten years of experience. And there, among family members, partners, Kung Fu brothers and guests. It presented its new and beautiful headquarters.
I can't get enough of admiring this space, as I always think that if I were to hire a service, I would already be partially biased to close a deal when I passed trough the door. I say this because the environment expresses well, the careful attention with which the productions are carried out. And that inspired me also with my own Mo Gun. But that's another story.

A SONG ABOUT "VING TSUN" BY A 80's PUNK ROCK BAND: THE LUNACHICKS

Se você percebeu apenas agora que as mulheres dominaram o mundo, provavelmente você não acompanha espetáculos de entretenimento como WWE no qual as lutadoras são infinitamente mais famosas, divertidas e conhecidas do que os lutadores. Algo impensável na virada da década de '80 para '90. E foi bem naquele período, mais precisamente em 1988,que  Theo Kogan, Gina Volpe e Sidney Silver decidiram formar uma banda de punk-rock. Mais tarde, se juntaria à banda Helen Destroy. E em seus treze anos de existência, essa banda formada apenas por mulheres, teve apenas um homem participando em toda a sua história. Foi o namorado de Theo, Mike, que assumiu a bateria por um período.
Durante a sua breve carreira que está em hiato desde 2000, as Lunachicks cantaram uma música com um tema um tanto quanto diferente: Uma menina chinesa que fundou uma arte marcial chamada "Ving Tsun"!

If you've only just realized that women have taken over the world, you probably don't follow entertainment shows like WWE in which the female fighters are infinitely more famous, fun and known than the male fighters. Depois de assistir os filmes de Jackie Chan e nem sonhar em ver um "Muk Yan Jong" ao vivo. Dez anos depois, em 2008, já me era possível falar dele com certa propriedade aos membros da turma infantil(FOTO), na época chamada "Siu Ye Kuen", que visitavam um Mo Gun pela primeira vez. Já que praticavam numa escola de dança no Méier. (foto)
Acho que com o tempo, muitas coisas se tornam comuns para nós, e nos tornamos insensíveis a pequenos detalhes que antes eram mágicos para nossos olhos. E em momentos assim, é importante "lembrar do início"["Siu Nim Tau" (小念頭)] trecho extraído do artigo "A primeira vez que pratiquei no Muk Yan Jong"(CLIQUE AQUI)

ALL ABOUT THE WOODEN DUMMY(MUK YAN JONG) PART 1

Sem dúvidas o "Boneco de Madeira do Ving Tsun" ou simplesmente "Muk Yan Jong", é a ferramenta mais famosa do Sistema Ving Tsun e uma das mais famosas do mundo das artes marciais como um todo. No final da década de '70 seu uso ainda não era muito claro para o grande público, e por conta disso, filmes, centenas de matérias em revistas e livros de procedência duvidosa foram amplamente divulgados e por conseguinte se tornaram paradigmas que perduram até os dias de hoje, nas mentes de milhares de pessoas ao redor do mundo. Inclusive, as de artistas marciais.
No artigo de hoje, compartilho uma sessão de fotos que fiz em 2005, para um site que iria ao ar com uma sessão onde teriam as fotos de cada item das listagens do Sistema Ving Tsun. Neste vídeo, reúno as fotos relacionadas a listagem do "Mui Fa Jong".

Undoubtedly the "Ving Tsun Wooden Dummy" or simply "Muk Yan Jong", is the most famous tool in the Ving Tsun System and one of the most famous in the martial arts world as a whole. At the end of the '70s, its use was still not very clear to the general public, and because of that, movies, hundreds of articles in magazines and books of dubious origin were widely disseminated and therefore became paradigms that last until the current days, in the minds of thousands of people around the world. Including those of martial artists.
In today's article, I share a photo session I took in 2005, for a website that would go on line with a session where it would have photos of each item in the Ving Tsun System lists (usually called "forms"). In this video, I gather the photos related to the listing of "Mui Fa Jong".

BIRTHDAY OF MASTER FELIPE SOARES: TWO DAYS WITH HIM

Recebi um convite do Matheus Nakazato, To Dai de meu Si Suk Felipe Soares e de Elisa Wanderley, para comparecer na celebração do aniversário do Si Suk que ocorreria em Jacarepaguá. Aceitei o convite, pois além de tudo, estar com os dois para mim é sempre divertido e prazeroso. 
Conheci Si Suk Felipe Soares muitos e muitos anos atrás, e naqueles tempos, nossa diferença de idade e de maturidade, impedia com que fossemos mais próximos. Então, conforme eu fui ficando mais velho e felizmente mais amadurecido, em algum momento nossa boa relação começou também. Descobri nesse momento, uma pessoa muito consciente de cada um de seus passos e de uma risada muito fácil. E eu nem sou tão engraçado assim, mas ele sempre ri do mesmo jeito. 
Com a co-líder da Família Moy Fei Lap, Elisa Wanderley, tão pouco me lembro quando passamos a ter essa boa relação também. Mas assim como Si Suk Felipe, ao menos para mim quando estamos juntos, sempre fica a sensação de que o momento se desdobre em algum outro.

I received an invitation from Matheus Nakazato, To Dai of my Si Suk Felipe Soares and Elisa Wanderley, to attend the celebration of the birthday of the Si Suk that would take place in Jacarepaguá(West Zone of Rio). I accepted the invitation, because after all, being with them for me is always fun and pleasurable.
I met Si Suk Felipe Soares for the first time many, many years ago. And in those times, our difference in age and maturity prevented us from being closer. So, as I got older and matured, at some point our good relationship started too. At that moment, I discovered a person very aware of each of his steps and a very easy laugh. And I'm not even that funny, but he always laughs the same way.
With the co-leader of the Moy Fei Lap Family, Elisa Wanderley, I don't even remember when we started to have this good relationship as well. But just like Si Suk Felipe, at least for me when we are together, there is always the feeling that the moment unfolds in some other moment.

Meu discípulo Thiago Torres me acompanhou naquela noite. Particularmente, fiquei feliz de um membro de minha Família estar comigo, pois assim poderia ter uma nova perspectiva da relação Si Fu-To Dai a partir de uma outra Família que não passa por nossa linha direta. Já que Si Suk Felipe é "Si Dai"(irmão Kung Fu mais novo) de meu Si Fu.

My disciple Thiago Torres accompanied me that night. Particularly, I was happy for a member of my Family to be with me, so that I could have a new perspective on the Si Fu-To Dai relationship from another Family that does not pass through our direct line. Since Si Suk Felipe is "Si Dai" (younger Kung Fu brother) of my Si Fu.

Quando chegamos, algumas pessoas já estavam presentes. O local é um restaurante que tem mais duas unidades no Rio de Janeiro com temática de cinema e música internacional. Assim, toda a decoração e cardápio, têm esses motivos.
Como sempre, fui muito bem acolhido com fortes abraços e sorrisos de todos os lados. Além da companhia, a comida estava ótima, e eu acho que até exagerei um pouco nessa parte(risos).
Foi muito especial poder compartilhar esse momento com pessoas queridas.

When we arrived, some people were already present. The place is a restaurant that has two more units in Rio de Janeiro with a theme of cinema and international music. Thus, all the decoration and menu, have these themes.
As always, I was very well received with strong hugs and smiles from all sides. In addition to the company, the food was great, and I think I even overdid it a bit (laughs).
It was very special to be able to share this moment with loved ones.

Eu realmente estava muito cansado e perguntei se poderia ir junto do Si Suk, para o evento da Família Moy Lin Mah. Ele não só me convidou para ir consigo, mas também para visitar seu recém construído Mo Gun.
Este novo Mo Gun é seu segundo endereço no bairro da Freguesia, e antes de irmos para Copacabana, ele me levou até lá.
Si Suk fez questão de me explicar alguns dos pormenores que o levaram até ali, comentou sobre alguns dos elementos presentes no local, e eu realmente fiquei muito espantado com a qualidade da decoração e da disposição consciente de cada objeto naquele local. Tudo muito bem cuidado em cada detalhe, o que me tocou profundamente e que me fez sair de lá, refletindo bastante no quanto que um Mo Gun pode ter suas ambiências objetivas e subjetivas exploradas com maestria.

I was really tired and asked if I could go with Si Suk to the Moy Lin Mah Family event. He not only invited me to go with him, but also to visit his newly built Mo Gun.
This new Mo Gun is his second address in the neighborhood of Freguesia, and before we went to Copacabana, he took me there.
Si Suk insisted on explaining some of the details that took him there, commented on some of the elements present in the place, and I was really amazed by the quality of the decoration and the conscious disposition of each object in that place. Everything was very well taken care of in every detail, which touched me deeply and made me leave, reflecting a lot on how much a Mo Gun can have its objective and subjective ambiences explored with mastery.

Como acho anti-ético chegar num Mo Gun e sair batendo fotos do local. Perguntei se poderia fazer estes dois registros. Achei válido deixar que todos apreciem o que está sendo realizado pela Família Moy Fei Lap em Maio, quando houver a inauguração.
Até lá, anseio por mais dias ricos como estes dois, que passei com meu Si Suk Felipe Soares e a Elisa.

As I think it is unethical to arrive at a Mo Gun and take pictures of the place. I asked if I could take these two photos. I thought it worthwhile to let everyone appreciate what is being done by the Moy Fei Lap Family in May, when the inauguration takes place.
Until then, I look forward to more rich days like these two, which I spent with my Si Suk Felipe Soares and Elisa.

MOY LIN MAH FAMILY´S NEW STUDENTS, PROMOTIONS AND DISCIPLE

Quando ia chegando o final de tarde de Sábado em Rocha Miranda, sentávamos no meio-fio da calçada conversando sobre alguma besteira. Um de nós estaria ainda segurando a bola de futebol do jogo que acabara de terminar. Algum vizinho, provavelmente lavando seu carro na calçada, teria o som do seu veículo no último volume com a transmissão de algum jogo do campeonato carioca na voz do José Carlos de Araújo e reportagens de campo do Gilson Ricardo.  Finalmente nosso grupo se dispersaria, e já por volta de umas 19:00h, ficaríamos arrumados batendo papo no portão da casa de alguém. Não podíamos sair sozinhos, mas tão pouco queríamos parecer crianças. Afinal, era noite de Sábado, e éramos adolescentes.
Caminhando ao lado do Mestre Felipe Soares, meu Si Suk, naquele final de tarde de Sábado em direção ao Windsor California Hotel. Esses fragmentos de memória me tomaram por alguns segundos, e como sempre, pensava nos estranhos caminhos que a vida toma. Sentado na calçada mais de vinte anos atrás depois do futebol. Nunca imaginaria que seria um Mestre de Ving Tsun, caminhando ao lado de outro Mestre de Ving Tsun, em direção à um evento tão especial desta mesma arte, também em uma "noite de Sábado".

When it was late Saturday afternoon in Rocha Miranda, we sat on the curb of the sidewalk talking about some nonsense. One of us would still be holding the soccer ball from the game we just finished. Some neighbor, probably washing his car on the sidewalk, would have the sound of his vehicle in the last volume with the transmission of some game of the carioca championship in the voice of José Carlos de Araújo and field reports by Gilson Ricardo. Finally, our group would disperse, and around 19:00h, we would be dressed up chatting at someone's house gate. We couldn't go out alone, but neither did we want to look like children. After all, it was Saturday night, and we were teenagers.

Walking beside Master Felipe Soares, my Si Suk, that Saturday afternoon towards the Windsor California Hotel. These fragments of memory took me for a few seconds, and as always, I thought about the strange paths that life takes. Sitting on the sidewalk more than twenty years ago after a soccer match. I would never have imagined that I would be a Ving Tsun Master, walking alongside another Ving Tsun Master, towards such a special event of the same art, also on a "Saturday night".



Entramos no local onde seria a Cerimônia, e como poucos membros da Família Moy Lin Mah ainda cuidavam dos preparativos. Meu Si Suk Felipe parecendo ler minha mente, me convidou para um café, o qual aceitei prontamente.
Conversamos bastante sobre perspectivas profissionais naquele dia, foi uma excelente oportunidade para mim, e um tempo em que me senti com um nível de consciência maior sobre minha profissão, graças aos compartilhamentos do Si Suk Felipe.

De volta ao hotel, já era ´possível avistar Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz se acomodando numa cadeira mais ao fundo. Outras pessoas já haviam chegado, e alguns rostos eram novos para mim. Os que já me eram conhecidos, me recebiam com um caloroso abraço, ao mesmo tempo em que vigorosamente diziam: "Si Hing!".  E quem não gosta de carinho, não é mesmo?
Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz conversava comigo sobre seus planos de muito empenho profissional no ano de 2020. Com espanto, descrevia a quantidade lojas fechadas na região da Uruguaiana, que é um dos grandes centros comerciais de nossa cidade. Além disso, ponderou comigo, como num país em recessão, é possível que as pessoas comprem ingressos para shows caríssimos, mas que por muitas vezes não disponham deste valor para a prática do Ving Tsun.
Si Suk Ursula apareceu e nos cumprimentou. Perguntou sobre Si Fu e Si Mo e disse que eu havia emagrecido. Mas talvez tenha sido apenas minha roupa toda preta que deu essa impressão.
Sentamo-nos juntos para assistir ela assinar os novos certificados da Família Moy Lin Mah, e ela aproveitou para nos falar sobre os detalhes deste novo documento.

We entered the place where the Ceremony would be attended, and as few members of the Moy Lin Mah Family still took care of the preparations. My Si Suk Felipe, seeming to read my mind, invited me for a coffee, which I readily accepted.
We talked a lot about professional perspectives that day, it was an excellent opportunity for me, and a time when I felt more aware of my profession, thanks to Si Suk Felipe's shares.
Back at the hotel, it was already possible to see Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz settling in a chair in the back. Other people had already arrived, and some faces were new to me. Those who were already known to me, received me with a warm hug, while vigorously saying: "Si Hing!" And who doesn't like affection, right?
Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz talked to me about his plans for a lot of professional commitment in 2020. With astonishment, he described the amount of stores closed in the Uruguaiana region, which is one of the major commercial centers in our city. In addition, he reasoned with me, as in a country in recession, it is possible that people buy tickets to expensive shows, but that often do not have this value for the practice of Ving Tsun.
Si Suk Ursula appeared and greeted us. She asked about Si Fu and Si Mo and said that I had lost weight. But maybe it was just my black outfit that made that impression.
We sat down together to watch her sign the new Moy Lin Mah Family certificates, and she took the opportunity to tell us about the details of this new document.

Pouco tempo depois, fui avisado que seria "Testemunha Honorável". Nessas horas, sinto meu semblante mudar. Eu fico mais sério, tensiono minhas sobrancelhas e você me vê sentado de pernas cruzadas. Parece o "modo Si Fu". Porém, mais do que isso, foi meu aprendizado com o lendário Si Suk André Cardoso ainda no final de 2001, quando ele me deu acesso à primeira parte do Biu Ji: "Thiagão: Biu Ji é 'Sem demora', 'sem desculpas' e 'fazer o que tiver de ser feito com o que se tem no momento' " ! - Aquelas foram palavras ferozes que guardei para sempre.

Shortly thereafter, I was told that I would be an "Honorable Witness". At these times, I feel my countenance change. I get more serious, tense my eyebrows and you see me sitting cross-legged. It looks like "Si Fu mode". However, more than that, it was my learning with the legendary Si Suk André Cardoso at the end of 2001, when he gave me access to the first part of Biu Ji: "Thiagão(big Thiago): Biu Ji is 'Without delay', 'without excuses' and 'do what has to be done with what you have at the moment' "! - Those were fierce words that I kept forever.

Então levantei-me e assumi meu lugar para reverenciar os ancestrais, com as palavras do Si Suk Andre em mente. Me posicionei ao lado do Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz, e juntos aguardamos a Si Suk Ursula que é Líder da Família Moy Lin Mah, abrir a mesa ancestral.

So I got up and took my place to reverence the ancestors, with Si Suk Andre's words in mind. I positioned myself next to Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz, and together we waited for Si Suk Ursula, who is Leader of the Moy Lin Mah Family, to open the ancestral table.

E o primeiro a ser apresentado foi o Jorge Piñero Herranz(FOTO). Pedro tem ascendência espanhola e uma vasta carreira trabalhando com aeronaves. Jorge falou, dentre outras coisas, de que espera poder dar o máximo pela Família Moy Lin Mah.

And the first to be presented was Jorge Piñero Herranz (PHOTO). Pedro has Spanish ancestry and a vast career working with aircraft. Jorge spoke, among other things, that he hopes to be able to do his best for the Moy Lin Mah Family.

Depois de Jorge, tivemos  Giulia da Silva(FOTO). Uma jovem de vinte anos com voz delicada e com muitos de seus familiares presentes. Além disso, ela se diz fã do estilo musical "K-Pop", e duas pessoas presentes pensaram que se tratava de uma marca de pipoca.(risos).

After Jorge, we had Giulia da Silva (PHOTO). A young woman of twenty years old with a delicate voice and many of her family members present. In addition, she claims to be a fan of the musical style "K-Pop", and two people present thought it was a popcorn brand (laughs).

Finalmente tivemos Antonio Bernardo(FOTO). Antonio pareceu-me muito observador, e com poucas palavras, levantou-se falou um pouco de si e tomou seu lugar novamente.

Por fim, Si Suk Ursula(FOTO) deu à seus novos To Dai, a possibilidade de agora interagirem com a mesa ancestral (Sam Toi) como membros da Família. E foi possível perceber no olhar de cada um deles, que estavam bem tocados por vivenciarem àquele momento.

Quando ocorre o momento de acesso à um próximo Domínio, no caso o Cham Kiu. Começamos a ver os tais "rostos conhecidos" agora. E o primeiro deles foi o Douglas Silva(FOTO).  Durante o discurso de Douglas, lembrei-me de meu Si Fu. Pois ao presenciar discursos como o dele, costuma dizer: "Dá pra ver bem o momento em que a pessoa perde o texto e a emoção toma conta". - Douglas se referiu com muito carinho à importância de sua Si Fu em processos de sua vida particular.

When access ceremony to the next Domain occurs, in this case Cham Kiu. We are beginning to see such "familiar faces" now. And the first one was Douglas Silva (PHOTO). Pedro Henrick, é um membro da Família Moy Lin Mah que sempre me pareceu muito disponível e prestativo. Sempre o vejo envolvido, de alguma forma, nos eventos que sua Família promove nos últimos anos. Desta vez, chegara sua vez de ser o centro das atenções quando se deu o seu acesso ao Domínio Cham Kiu. Ele então aproveitou esse momento, para valorizar a importância de sua Si Fu e de seus irmãos Kung Fu em seu processo.

Pedro Henrick, is a member of the Moy Lin Mah Family who always seemed very available and helpful. I always see him involved, in some way, in the events that his Family promotes in recent years. This time, it was his turn to be the center of attention when he had access to the Cham Kiu Domain. He then took advantage of that moment, to appreciate the importance of his Si Fu and his Kung Fu brothers in his process.

Quando adentrei o saguão do evento pela segunda vez e fui cumprimentando cada pessoa, antes da Cerimônia começar. Não fui capaz de reconhecer o rapaz que mexia em alguma coisa no canto esquerdo da entrada. Era Andre Beser(foto), que mais tarde veio falar comigo com o carinho de sempre.

When I entered the lobby of the event for the second time and went to greet each person, before the Ceremony began. I was unable to recognize the boy who was touching something in the left corner of the entrance. It was Andre Beser (photo), who later came to talk to me with the usual affection.

Quando conheci Andre Beser uns anos atrás, ele parecia mesmo um menino. De cara redonda, vivia rindo. Quando soube que se afastou, fiquei triste pois de alguma maneira havia um carinho mútuo.
Ao reencontrar Beser, algo estava diferente: Não é que ele não sorria mais(Afinal, se emocionou bastante em sua fala), mas o Beser está com um olhar especial, de pessoas ou que viveram macro transformações ou que estão mais sensíveis às micro transformações. Já não é mais um olhar de garoto.

When I met Andre Beser a few years ago, he really looked like a boy. Round-faced, he was always laughing. When I heard that he left, I was sad because somehow there was a mutual affection.
When I saw Beser this time, something was different: It is not that he did not smile anymore (After all, he was very emotional in his speech), but Beser has a special look, of people  who have experienced macro transformations or who are more sensitive to micro transformations . It is no longer a boy's eyes.

Quando chegamos ao acesso ao Domínio Mui Fa Jong, a grande estrela da noite, Marcus de Souza demonstrou o Biu Ji. Marcus, que até um tempo atrás brincava-se chamando-o de "Tony Stark" é alguém muito querido por todos. E naquela noite em especial, Marcus estava visivelmente nervoso(risos).

When we arrived at the access to the Mui Fa Jong Domain Ceremony, the big star of the night, Marcus de Souza demonstrated Biu Ji. Marcus, who until a while ago we used to joke calling him "Tony Stark" is someone very dear to everyone. And on that particular night, Marcus was visibly nervous (laughs).

Em vários momentos da Cerimônia, eu olhava Marcus em seu próprio mundo. Às vezes ele ficava assim, como na foto, com a mão apoiada no queixo. Em outros momentos, ele balançava a cabeça positivamente concordando com algo...Mas no fundo, parecia não conter as emoções, já que além de tudo, seus familiares também estavam presentes. Mas falaremos mais dele a seguir...

At various times during the Ceremony, I looked at Marcus and he was in his own world. Sometimes he was like this, as in the photo, with his hand resting on the chair. At other times, he shook his head positively in agreement with something ... But deep down, he seemed not to contain his emotions, since after all, his family members were also present. But we'll talk more about him below ...

Então finalmente chegamos à última Cerimônia de acesso: A de Andre Villarreal(FOTO) ao Domínio Luk Dim Bun Gwan.
Andre é terceiro discípulo da Si Suk Ursula e uma das grandes referências da Família Moy Lin Mah nos últimos anos. E foi com um suspiro e as duas mãos em suas pernas, que Andre pareceu tomar impulso para levantar-se de sua cadeira e dar início a sua Cerimônia.

Then we finally arrived at the last Access Ceremony: Andre Villarreal's (PHOTO) to Luk Dim Bun Gwan Domain.
Andre is Si Suk Ursula's third disciple and one of the great references of the Moy Lin Mah Family in recent years. And it was with a sigh and both hands on his legs, that Andre seemed to take an impulse to get up from his chair and start his Ceremony.

Andre recebeu o broche de sua Família Kung Fu das mãos de sua Si Fu, como vemos na foto. Porém, foram suas palavras, um dos pontos mais emocionantes. Baseada muito em agradecimento, Andre se mostrou muito emocionado com a presença de sua mãe e namorada neste evento. Ambas igualmente estavam muito felizes também.

Andre received the pin of his Kung Fu Family from the hands of his Si Fu, as we see in the photo. However, it was his words, one of the most exciting points. Based very much on thanks, Andre was very moved by the presence of his mother and girlfriend at this event. They were equally happy too.

 Bem, a primeira lembrança que tenho de Marcus(PHOTO), é dele e sua espsoa num restaurante em Copacabana durante o "Encerramento do Ano da Família Moy Lin Mah" em 2012. Eu estava lá com o André Guerra(meu irmão Kung Fu). E houve um "amigo oculto". Achei ele um cara bem divertido. Àqueles pareciam ser os bons tempos...A vida passava mais devagar em 2012... Mas num piscar de olhos, muitos anos se passaram. E sem perceber, Marcus conseguiu algo que poucos conseguiram ao longos dos anos: Permanecer ao lado de sua Si Fu.

Well, the first memory I have of Marcus (PHOTO), is of him and his wife at a restaurant in Copacabana during the "End of the Year for the Moy Lin Mah Family" in 2012. I was there with André Guerra (my Kung Fu brother) . And there was a "hidden friend" party. I thought he was a really fun guy. Those seemed to be the good times ... Life passed more slowly in 2012 ... But in the blink of an eye, many years have passed. And without realizing it, Marcus achieved something that few have achieved over the years: Keep close with his Si Fu.

Cada Si Fu, tem sua própria ideia à respeito do que leva em conta ao convidar alguém para "Baai Si". E devo dizer, o "Baai Si" do Marcus me tocou. São muitos anos, e eu acho que não só a relação dele e de sua Si Fu merecia isso, mas também a própria Família Moy Lin Mah.
Digo isso, pois às vezes você tem discípulos, os anos vão passando, esses discípulos vão se destacando e tem alguns irmãos Kung Fu mais velhos que não fizeram ainda o "Baai Si" e num pensamento voltado para o todo, a pergunta que fica muitas vezes é: "Por que esperar mais?"

Each Si Fu has its own idea of what it takes into account when inviting someone to "Baai Si". And I must say, Marcus' "Baai Si" touched me. It's been many years, and I think that not only his relationship and that of his Si Fu deserved that, but also the Moy Lin Mah Family itself.
I say this, because sometimes you have disciples, the years go by, these disciples are standing out and there are some older Kung Fu brothers who have not yet done the "Baai Si" and in a thought focused on the whole, the question wich remains is "Why wait any longer?"

Marcus então aceitou dar mais esse passo, o mais importante, 

na relação com sua Si Fu. E isso é muito especial.

Quando o primeiro Mo Gun da Família Moy Lin Mah foi inaugurado(FOTO), não se sabia que caminhos a vida tomaria. Todos, sem exceção, acreditávamos na força da Si Suk Ursula e no companheirismo dela com seu marido Ricardo Lopes. Mas não dá pra saber...

When the first Mo Gun of the Moy Lin Mah Family was inaugurated (PHOTO), it was not known which path life would take. We all, without exception, believed in the strength of Si Suk Ursula and her companionship with her husband Ricardo Lopes. But you can't tell ...

Anos depois, Si Suk que vive com sua filha, tem um discípulo nos EUA, três em Portugal, seu marido está em Portugal, e seu Mo Gun (com outros discípulos), está baseado no bairro de Copacabana no Rio de Janeiro. 

E a vida é assim mesmo: Nos surpreende a cada instante. Pois foi também num final de Sábado que eu me debrucei no que chamam de miradouro do bairro da Graça em Lisboa. E vendo aquele incrível por do sol tocar de soslaio toda a cidade, pensei no quão longe tinha ido. Das ruas de Rocha Miranda, para àquele lugar tão incrível...

Os finais dos Sábados são sempre assim: Incríveis de alguma forma... E este último, não foi diferente. Ao menos para a Família Moy Lin Mah.

Years later, Si Suk, who lives with her daughter, has a disciple in the USA, three in Portugal, her husband is in Portugal, and her Mo Gun (with other disciples), is based in the Copacabana neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro.

And life is like that: Surprising us in each corner. Because it was also at the end of a Saturday that I looked at what they call the viewpoint of the Graça neighborhood in Lisbon. And seeing that incredible sunset sideways across the city, I thought how far I had gone. From the streets of Rocha Miranda, to that amazing place ...

The end of Saturdays is always like this: Incredible in some way ... And the latter was no different. At least for the Moy Lin Mah Family.
