MASTER FELIPE SOARES' SPECIAL BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

 

Foi realmente um momento especial estar na celebração do aniversário do Mestre Felipe Soares. A presença de membros do Grande Clã Moy Yat Sang, representando quase todas as Famílias do estado do Rio de Janeiro, destaca o quanto o Mestre Felipe é querido e respeitado.

O semblante feliz da Sra. Elisa Wanderley, co-líder da Família Moy Fei Lap e esposa do Mestre Felipe, já marcaria em nossas memórias a atmosfera acolhedora e positiva do evento. Seu sorriso ao receber os convidados e ao falar ao microfone demonstra o carinho e a dedicação que ela tem não apenas como esposa, mas também como co-líder da Família.

A atitude dela ao falar algumas palavras ao Mestre Felipe, mesmo não gostando muito de falar ao microfone, mostra o quão significativa foi essa celebração para todos os presentes. E o detalhe do bolo com uma beleza minimalista, pensado por ela, ressalta a atenção aos detalhes que tornaram o evento ainda mais especial.

Parece que a atmosfera discreta e especial da celebração reflete a personalidade do próprio Mestre Felipe Soares. Sem dúvida, cada pessoa presente naquele evento terá suas próprias lembranças emocionantes para compartilhar, fazendo desse aniversário uma ocasião inesquecível para todos os envolvidos.

It was indeed a special and emotional moment at the celebration of Master Felipe Soares's birthday. The presence of members from the Great Moy Yat Sang Clan, representing almost all the families in the state of Rio de Janeiro, highlights how beloved and respected Master Felipe is.
The joyful demeanor of Mrs. Elisa Wanderley, co-leader of the Moy Fei Lap Family and wife of Master Felipe, already etched in our memories the warm and positive atmosphere of the event. Her smile while welcoming guests and speaking into the microphone reflects the affection and dedication she possesses not only as a wife but also as a co-leader of the Family. Her gesture of expressing words of love to Master Felipe, even though she's not fond of speaking into the microphone, shows how significant this celebration was for everyone present. Additionally, the detail of the cake with minimalist beauty, carefully thought out by her, emphasizes the attention to detail that made the event even more special.
It seems that the discreet and special atmosphere of the celebration mirrors the personality of Master Felipe Soares himself. Undoubtedly, each person present at that event will have their own emotional memories to share, making this birthday an unforgettable occasion for everyone involved.

Apenas quando ficamos em quarentena, percebi ainda mais o quanto aprecio esses momentos junto da Família Kung Fu. Sempre procuro não esquecer o propósito desses eventos, principalmente por estar com membros da minha Família Kung Fu (foto acima). Existe a possibilidade de apreciar esse momento de convivência, sem descambar completamente para um mero processo de socialização. Desta vez, em particular, alguns de meus discípulos levaram suas companheiras para vivenciar esse processo pela primeira vez. Quando o Daniel e sua namorada Liz me buscaram em casa, significava que para mim havia um evento paralelo ao que acontecia e que começava bem antes.

Talvez tenha sido de Si Gung que ouvi que o cônjuge pode estar presente para vivenciar o momento e a partir disso ter seu próprio entendimento. Deixar a pessoa vivenciar e tirar suas próprias conclusões é fundamental. Tenho tido momentos significativos com a Liz, e esse foi mais um deles. Mais tarde, encontrei a Rafa, esposa do mestrando Keith Markus. Acreditava que a dedicação do Mestre Felipe Soares à sua esposa seria expressada de diferentes maneiras naquela cerimônia e celebração, e não estava enganado. Com isso, e com o processo imersivo que tanto Markus quanto o Daniel têm vivido, elas puderam ter um exemplo mais claro de que é possível viver uma vida equilibrada dentro e fora do Mo Lam.

Only when we were in quarantine did I realize even more how much I cherish these moments with the Kung Fu Family. I always try not to forget the purpose of these events, especially since I'm with members of my Kung Fu Family (photo above). There's the possibility of appreciating this moment of togetherness without it devolving into a mere socialization process. This time, in particular, some of my disciples brought their partners to experience this process for the first time. When Daniel and his girlfriend Liz picked me up at home, it meant that for me, there was an event parallel to what was happening and that started well before.

Maybe it was Si Gung from whom I heard that a spouse can be present to experience the moment and from there gain their own understanding. Allowing the person to experience and draw their own conclusions is fundamental. I've had significant moments with Liz, and this was another one of them. Later, I met Rafa, the wife of Mestrando Keith Markus. I believed that Master Felipe Soares' dedication to his wife would be expressed in different ways at that ceremony and celebration, and I wasn't mistaken. With that, and with the immersive process that both Markus and Daniel have been going through, they could have a clearer example that it is possible to live a balanced life inside and outside Mo Lam.

Naquela noite, Lenildo acessaria o Domínio Cham Kiu e Gui Serrão o Mui Fa Jong. Ambos são To Dai do Mestre Felipe Soares e apaixonados pelo Ving Tsun de diferentes maneiras. Era possível perceber isso na dedicação que colocaram em cada procedimento da cerimônia. Segundo o próprio Mestre Felipe Soares, o Siu Nim Tau demonstrado por Lenildo, por exemplo, teria sido o melhor que ele já vira ele manifestar. Tudo ocorreu de maneira rápida, assertiva e mesmo as falas estavam bem concisas. Ambos pareciam bem preparados para estar ali. Todos os meus discípulos presentes comentaram sobre a precisão entre o horário de início e o horário de término do ato cerimonial.

On that night, Lenildo would access the Cham Kiu Domain, and Gui Serrão the Mui Fa Jong. Both are regular students of Master Felipe Soares and are passionate about Ving Tsun in different ways. This dedication was evident in every aspect of the ceremony. According to Master Felipe Soares himself, the Siu Nim Tau demonstrated by Lenildo, for instance, was the best he had ever witnessed his student do. Everything unfolded swiftly, decisively, and even the speeches were concise. Both seemed well-prepared to be there. All of my present disciples remarked on the precision regarding the start and end times of the ceremonial act.

Pela segunda vez, Mestre Felipe Soares, sempre focado em aproveitar o potencial dos instrumentos estratégicos do Programa, desta vez o Ato Cerimonial, me ofereceu a oportunidade para que um dos meus discípulos presentes tivesse a honra de realizar a leitura do texto que chamamos de 'Abertura Cerimonial'. Este texto vem recebendo singelas modificações ao longo dos anos, sempre buscando uma maior precisão para que se possa entender o Ato Cerimonial não como propriedade de uma Família Kung Fu, mas como uma herança de uma Linhagem ancestral que, com muito esforço de cada pessoa citada, e de todas as não citadas, chega até os promoventes daquela noite. Cada palavra parece muito bem escolhida, e devido às palavras em cantonês presentes no texto, desde nomes até períodos históricos, não é incomum alguém menos preparado dar ênfase a essas palavras de maneira equivocada, o que acaba tirando o ouvinte da imersão que a compreensão e reflexão do texto exigem. Mesmo convidando meu discípulo Markus ao vivo assim que meu Si Suk Felipe nos deu essa oportunidade, fiquei satisfeito ao ouvir sua leitura do texto [Foto acima]. Acredito que tenha sido digna para a ocasião.

For the second time, Master Felipe Soares, always focused on harnessing the potential of the strategic elements of the Program, this time the Ceremonial Act, afforded me the opportunity for one of my present disciples to have the honour of reading the text we refer to as the 'Ceremonial Opening'. This text has undergone subtle modifications over the years, always aiming for greater precision so that the Ceremonial Act can be understood not as the property of a Kung Fu Family, but as an inheritance from an ancestral lineage that, with the considerable effort of each person mentioned and all those unmentioned, reaches the protagonists of that night. Every word seems meticulously chosen, and due to Cantonese words present in the text, from names to historical periods, it is not uncommon for someone less prepared to emphasize these words in a wrong way, thereby disrupting the listener's immersion that understanding and reflecting upon the text demand. Even as my disciple Markus was invited on time as soon as our Si Suk Felipe gave us this opportunity, I was pleased to hear his reading of the text [Photo above]. I believe it was fitting for the occasion.

Quando a celebração do aniversário começou, não demorou muito para que eu fosse convidado como o Mestre caçula do recinto a ser o primeiro a falar. Essas falas públicas levaram-me a muitas reflexões nos últimos dois anos. Isso ocorreu porque, ao observar as falas do Si Gung em inúmeros eventos em que estive presente a partir da minha titulação em 2015, comecei a prestar atenção em como suas palavras sempre alteram de alguma maneira o tom do que vinha sendo dito. Às vezes longas, às vezes mais breves, essas falas parecem trazer uma compreensão mais ampla do que o momento representa. Eu me esforcei bastante para fazer algo nesse sentido, sempre procurando ser o mais sincero possível. Meu Si Fu Julio Camacho teria dito algumas vezes que quando a emoção toma conta, é também o momento em que a pessoa 'sai do texto' e expressa algo mais verdadeiro. Naquele dia, eu não me emocionei; tinha uma linha de raciocínio e procurei segui-la, acredito que dava para perceber.

When the birthday celebration began, it didn't take long for me to be invited as the youngest Master in the room to be the first to speak. These public speeches have led me to many reflections over the past two years. This is because, by observing Si Gung's speeches at numerous events I've attended since my Master´s degree titling in 2015, I started paying attention to how his words always somehow change the tone of what was being said. Sometimes lengthy, sometimes briefer, these speeches seem to bring a broader understanding of what the moment represents. I made a considerable effort to do something in that regard, always striving to be as sincere as possible. My Si Fu Julio Camacho would have said a few times that when emotion takes over, it is also the moment when a person 'goes off-script' and expresses something truer. On that day, I didn't get emotional; I had a train of thought and tried to follow it, I think it was noticeable.

Uma das falas mais emblemáticas foi a do GM Leo Imamura, Si Fu do Mestre Felipe Soares. Como mencionado anteriormente, foi possível ver as pessoas se ajeitando nas cadeiras para ouvi-lo, como se a maneira como estivessem sentados em suas cadeiras os ajudasse a compreender melhor. Si Gung começou falando - '...Quero parabenizar meu discípulo Felipe Soares... Que está comemorando mais um aniversário, e mais um aniversário como Si Fu...' - Si Gung prosseguiu falando sobre o Felipe, o discípulo e o Mestre que é líder de uma Família Kung Fu. Ele cita o fato de que este é um momento muito importante, pois seria este um momento em que essa Família Kung Fu pode reafirmar seus sentimentos e os seus laços a cada ano que o Si Fu faz aniversário. Então ele fala da importância da presença de todos naquela noite. Si Gung então pega alguns de surpresa quando, em seu nome e em nome da minha Si Taai Vanise Almeida, parabeniza o Mestre Felipe por estar sendo empossado vice-presidente do Instituto Moy Yat. Si Gung fala disto como um cargo de muita importância para o futuro do Ving Tsun.

One of the most emblematic speeches was from GM Leo Imamura, Si Fu of Master Felipe Soares. As mentioned above, it was noticeable how people adjusted in their seats to listen to him, as if the way they were seated helped them understand better. Si Gung began by saying - '...I want to congratulate my disciple Felipe Soares... Who is celebrating another birthday, and another birthday as Si Fu...' - Si Gung went on to talk about Felipe, the disciple, and the Master who leads a Kung Fu Family. He mentions that this is a very important moment, as it is a time when this Kung Fu Family can reaffirm its feelings and bonds every year that Si Fu celebrates a birthday. Then he speaks about the importance of everyone's presence that night.

Si Gung then surprises some when, in his name and on behalf of my Si Taai Vanise Almeida, he congratulates Master Felipe for being appointed vice-president of the Moy Yat Institute. Si Gung speaks of this as a position of great importance for the future of Ving Tsun.

Apesar das falas de todos os presentes, incluindo a fala do GM Leo Imamura, e da fala emocionante da irmã do Mestre Felipe, a  Si Suk Fernanda Neves, pareceu-me que a fala que de alguma maneira mais tocou a todos, levando alguns dos presentes a se emocionar, foi a do Mestre Diego Guadelupe. Apesar de muito inteligente e perspicaz, por alguma razão misteriosa ao se pronunciar em público, ele apresenta uma persona não tão afeita a falar de maneira muito elaborada, mas mesmo tentando fazer a mesma coisa, dessa vez o conteúdo de sua fala foi muito profundo.

Despite the speeches from all those present, including the speech from GM Leo Imamura and the moving speech from Master Felipe's sister, Fernanda Neves, it seemed to me that the speech that somehow resonated most with everyone, leading some of the attendees to become emotional, was from Master Diego Guadelupe. Despite being very intelligent and perceptive, for some mysterious reason, when addressing the public, he presents a persona not inclined towards speaking in a very elaborate manner. However, even while attempting to do the same, this time the content of his speech was very profound. 

Meus Si Suk Fábio Gomes, Si Suk Monnerat , meus  Si Dai Roberto Viana e Thiago Silva também se deslocaram de pontos distantes de nosso estado para prestigiar o Mestre Felipe Soares, devido ao apreço que têm por ele. Além do meu Si Hing Leonardo e da Si Je Catia, que moram mais perto. Também estiveram presentes discípulos da Família Moy Lin Mah, representando sua Si Fu Úrsula, que apareceu na TV dando seu depoimento, bem como meu próprio Si Fu. Sabe, esses são apenas fragmentos de memória daquilo que eu estava mais atento naquela noite. Porém, quero encerrar falando também do pudim que comi. Com uma cobertura deliciosa e desmanchando na colher, eu repeti umas três vezes. Sabe, eu não costumava ligar muito para sobremesas, mas a convivência com o Si Gung me trouxe esse costume. O pudim estava muito bom, e pensando bem, a vida tem seus dias amargos, mas aquele pudim deixou claro que aquele não era um desses dias. 

Parabéns a todos que fizeram este momento possível.

My Si Suk Fábio Gomes, Si Suk Monnerat,  my Si Dai Thiago Silva and Roberto Viana also traveled from distant points of our state to honor Master Felipe Soares, due to the esteem they have for him. Besides my Si Hing Leonardo and my Si Je Catia, who live closer. Also present were disciples from the Moy Lin Mah Family, representing their Si Fu Úrsula, who appeared on TV giving her testimony, as well as my own Si Fu. You know, these are just fragments of memories of what I was more attentive to that night. However, I want to conclude by also talking about the pudding I ate. With a delicious topping and melting in the spoon, I repeated it about three times. You know, I didn't used to care much about desserts, but the Kung Fu Life with Si Gung brought me that habit. The pudding was very good, and thinking about it, life has its bitter days, but that pudding made it clear that that wasn't one of those days.

UNFORGETTABLE DAYS AT MASTER QUINTELA'S HOUSE IN THE CAPITAL OF BRAZIL

 

A bem da verdade, eu não estava em uma condição muito favorável para viajar para Brasília, pois havíamos, eu e meus discípulos, ocupado o novo imóvel para sede da minha Família Kung Fu. No entanto, estou muito feliz como há muito não estava em minha jornada Kung Fu. Resolvi me dar essa nova oportunidade. Viajando sem meus discípulos, eu poderia voltar a atenção totalmente para minhas próprias questões. Além disso, entrei em uma maratona de revisão dos conteúdos da plataforma do Instituto Moy Yat e com as minhas anotações nas semanas que antecederam a viagem. Essas oportunidades me são muito caras, e gosto de chegar preparado. Além disso, quero poder representar bem minha Família Kung Fu, para que meus discípulos possam se orgulhar do seu Si Fu.

Alguns irmãos Kung Fu me perguntam a razão destas viagens, geralmente a conversa começa com - “…Tenho visto você lá com o Si Gung…” - E assim a conversa se desdobra. No entanto, não tem nenhum mistério. Estou em uma busca profissional muito séria de fazer uma reciclagem na qual eu possa oferecer o melhor para os meus alunos.

Desde o momento em que encontrei com o Si Suk Felipe para irmos ao aeroporto, até a despedida do Si Suk Thiago Quintela, ficou mais claro para mim que sozinhos não somos capazes de irmos muito longe. Porém, ambos têm To Dai assim como eu, e mesmo em diferentes momentos da nossa jornada como 'Si Fu', temos muito o que compartilhar. Por vezes, apenas observar o comportamento de um ou de outro, ouvir com atenção o que um deles fala, já é o suficiente para pegar e me apropriar de algo que vai engrandecer o meu trabalho. Estava muito sério com relação a essa viagem, e por isso, precisei tentar me soltar um pouco no carro com a Nathalia e o Thiago, ambos To Dai do Si Suk Quintela que me davam carona até o restaurante onde encontraríamos o Si Gung. Eu havia acabado de aterrissar, e Si Suk Felipe ia em outro carro com Si Suk Quintela e sua esposa buscar o Si Gung.

In all honesty, I wasn't in a very favourable condition to travel to Brasília, as we, my disciples and I, had just occupied the new property for the headquarters of my Kung Fu Family. However, I am very content, as I haven't been in a while, on my Kung Fu journey. I decided to give myself this new opportunity. Travelling without my disciples allowed me to focus entirely on my own matters. Furthermore, I engaged in a marathon review of the contents on the Moy Yat Institute platform and my notes in the weeks leading up to the trip. These opportunities are precious to me, and I like to arrive prepared. Additionally, I want to represent my Kung Fu Family well, so that my disciples can be proud of their Si Fu.

Some Kung Fu brothers ask me about the reason for these trips; usually, the conversation starts with, "...I've seen you there with Si Gung..." - and so the conversation unfolds. However, there is no mystery. I am on a very serious professional quest to undergo a training refresh, enabling me to offer the best to my students.

From the moment I met Si Suk Felipe to go to the airport, to the farewell with Si Suk Thiago Quintela, it became clearer to me that alone, we are not capable of going very far. However, both have To Dai, just like me, and even at different times in our journey as 'Si Fu,' we have much to share. Sometimes, simply observing the behaviour of one or the other, listening attentively to what one of them says, is enough to grasp and incorporate something that will enrich my work. I was very serious about this trip, and therefore, I needed to try to relax a bit in the car with Nathalia and Thiago, both To Dai of Si Suk Quintela, who gave me a ride to the restaurant where we would meet Si Gung. I had just landed, and Si Suk Felipe was in another car with Si Suk Quintela and his wife to pick up Si Gung.

Minha professora de chinês, Lily, havia me dito certa vez que não devemos aceitar nada de primeira. Talvez por isso, quando Si Suk Thiago me ofereceu para me hospedar em sua linda casa, eu tenha recusado em um primeiro momento. Desta maneira, ele pôde ser enfático de que isso não era necessário - "...Nós não somos amigos, somos muito mais do que isso. Quando me ofereço para buscá-los ou hospedá-los, eu entendo que a partir do momento em que estejamos juntos, isso já começará a engrandecer meu Kung Fu..." - Teria dito ele. Ao chegarmos em sua residência, eu ainda estava bem sem jeito, mas sua esposa Gabriely nos recebeu muito bem. Si Suk Thiago vive lá com ela e três filhos. Além deles, seus To Dai estão sempre por lá, o que gera uma atmosfera única. Na cozinha, existe esse balcão que aparece na foto acima, que acabou se tornando nosso ponto de encontro. Ou estávamos ali conversando ou dormindo. No primeiro dia, Si Suk Felipe conversou com a Nathalia sobre 'Baai Si', além de ver seu Siu Nim Tau e praticar um pouco com ela.

My Chinese teacher, Lily, once told me that we shouldn't accept things at face first. Perhaps that's why, when Si Suk Thiago offered to host me in his beautiful home, I initially declined. In this way, he could be emphatic that it wasn't necessary - "...We're not just friends; we're much more than that. When I offer to pick you up or host you, I understand that from the moment we're together, it will already start to enrich my Kung Fu..." - he would have said. Upon arriving at his residence, I still felt a bit awkward, but his wife, Gabriely, welcomed us warmly. Si Suk Thiago lives there with her and three children. In addition to them, his To Dai are always around, creating a unique atmosphere. In the kitchen, there's this counter that appears in the photo above, which has become our meeting point. We were either there chatting or resting. On the first day, Si Suk Felipe talked to Nathalia about 'Baai Si,' besides watching his Siu Nim Tau and practicing a bit with her.

Durante as manhãs, sempre nos dirigíamos para a casa do Si Gung. Si Suk Thiago, seus To Dai, eu e Si Suk Felipe. Si Gung por vezes nos aguardava na porta. Ficávamos em função dele durante todo o dia, até que retornávamos para a casa do Si Suk, onde a conversa seguia madrugada adentro. Si Gung tem muita proximidade com os To Dai do Si Suk Thiago, e todas as relações são completamente saudáveis e tranquilas neste arranjo, como sempre acreditei que seriam.

During the mornings, we always headed to Si Gung's house. Si Suk Thiago, his To Dai, I, and Si Suk Felipe. Si Gung sometimes awaited us at the door. We were at his service throughout the day until we returned to Si Suk's house, where the conversation continued into the early hours of the morning. Si Gung has a close bond with Si Suk Thiago's To Dai, and all relationships within this arrangement are entirely healthy and calm, as I always believed they would be.

Passamos muito tempo juntos também nos traslados de carro, indo e voltando da casa do Si Gung. Nesses momentos, foi possível conversar sobre as nossas jornadas, e esses traslados, somados ao 'Maai Sang Jong' que fizemos, nos aproximaram demais. Em uma dessas conversas, Si Suk Thiago chegou a se emocionar. Porém, acredito que, de fato, estávamos todos tocados em algum nível. Todos estão com a faca no dente, sem frescuras, e muito sérios em fazer um trabalho conjunto. Acredito que identificar isso uns nos outros tenha tocado os nossos corações de alguma forma.

We spent a lot of time together during the car transfers, going to and from Si Gung's house. During these moments, it was possible to discuss our journeys, and these transfers, combined with the 'Maai Sang Jong' we underwent, brought us very close. In one of these conversations, Si Suk Thiago even became emotional. However, I believe that, indeed, we were all touched at some level. Everyone is determined, straightforward, and very serious about working together. I think recognizing this in each other may have touched our hearts in some way.

Fiquei muito impressionado com a sintonia dos dois Si Suk com o Si Gung. Eu não conhecia muito bem a história do Si Suk Quintela, mas fui testemunha da ultra evolução do Si Suk Felipe, desde quando o conheci até o Mestre que se tornou e está se tornando.

Em breve, essa configuração de convivência precisará mudar devido a um novo desafio que o Si Suk Quintela se propôs. Por isso também, fiquei feliz em ter ido, pois essa oportunidade foi única. Si Gung passou o braço por cima dos meus ombros enquanto caminhávamos alguns metros abraçados, quando, entre outras coisas, ele teria dito - "...Isso mesmo, aproveita bem, pois não sabemos até quando isso será possível...".

I was very impressed with the harmony of the two Si Suk with Si Gung. I didn't know Si Suk Quintela's story very well, but I witnessed the ultra evolution of Si Suk Felipe, from when I first met him to the Master he has become and is becoming.

Soon, this living arrangement will need to change due to a new challenge that Si Suk Quintela has set for himself. That's also why I was happy to have gone, as this opportunity was unique. Si Gung put his arm over my shoulders as we walked a few meters embracing, when, among other things, he would have said - "...Thats it, make the most of it because we don't know how long this will be possible...".

Quando chegou o dia de irmos embora, foi um pouco triste. Eu me apaixonei por Brasília, e essa recepção na casa do Si Suk Thiago foi muito especial, mesmo. Sua esposa nos recebeu com muito carinho e alegria, seus filhos passavam para lá e para cá, seus To Dai sempre por perto. E rimos muito. Fazia tempo que não me divertia tanto sem ser com meus discípulos. Foram momentos inesquecíveis. Durante o 'Maai Sang Jong', Si Suk Thiago Quintela havia acertado dois socos muito bem dados no mesmo lado do meu rosto, mas nem por um momento, passou nada pela minha cabeça que não fosse tomar um ar e levantar a guarda novamente. Havia muito mais em jogo nesses momentos, que era um compromisso de preparo para ser um melhor Si Fu do que já sonhei ser possível. E ao olhar para os lados e ver pessoas com esse mesmo ímpeto, permite que você expresse a sua melhor versão. Ao final de tudo, ganhei este incrível presente do Si Suk, gentilmente enviado pelo correio por sua onipresente e dedicada To Dai Nathalia. Sem dúvidas, esses são momentos que as palavras não compreendem e não alcançam. Um dia espero poder escrever melhor sobre isso.

When the day came for us to leave, it was a bit sad. I fell in love with Brasília, and the reception at Si Suk Thiago's house was truly special. His wife welcomed us with great affection and joy, their children bustling around, and their To Dai always nearby. We laughed a lot. It had been a while since I had so much fun outside of my discipleship. Those were unforgettable moments. During the 'Maai Sang Jong', Si Suk Thiago Quintela had landed two well-placed punches on the same side of my face, but not for a moment did anything cross my mind other than catching my breath and raising my guard again. There was much more at stake in those moments—a commitment to preparation to be a better Si Fu than I ever dreamed possible. And looking around and seeing people with that same determination allows you to express your best self. In the end, I received this incredible gift from Si Suk, kindly sent by mail from his ever-present and dedicated To Dai Nathalia. Without a doubt, these are moments that words cannot comprehend and cannot reach. One day, I hope to write more about it.

Mestre Felipe Soares para mim é um grande exemplo de fidelidade ao Sistema Ving Tsun. Pessoas , que foram por muitas vezes passionais como eu, tem certa dificuldade a partir de um certo ponto no Sistema Ving Tsun de alcançar um novo nível de entendimento. Isso porque , tendemos a recorrer apenas à emoção e a paixão para superarmos um desafio. Inclusive técnico.
Mestre Felipe Soares por outro lado, se mostra alguém que aceita ser golpeado de bom grado se a ocupação do meio foi de fato legitima. E é possível que só desfira um único golpe em dez minutos de “Chi Sau” , se não tiver sentido que seria legitimo golpear antes disso.
Este tipo de conduta, fez com que em certo momento, Si Suk Felipe galgasse um novo nível de proeficiencia no Sistema em meados dos anos 2000, enquanto eu, que começara praticamente junto dele ficasse para trás. Ainda brigava comigo mesmo, sem entender porque uma boa “Cara de mau” e um grande “ímpeto” não me levavam ao mesmo patamar.

Master Felipe Soares for me is a great example of fidelity to the Ving Tsun System. People, who was often passional like me, have some difficulty from a certain point in the Ving Tsun System to reach a new level of understanding. That is because, we tend to resort only to the emotion and the passion to overcome a challenge. Even technical.
Master Felipe Soares on the other hand,  is someone who calm accepts to be punched  if the occupation of the center line was in fact legitimate. And it is possible that he only punches a single blow in ten minutes of "Chi Sau" if he did not sense that it would be legitimate to punches before that.
This kind of behavior meant that at one point, Si Suk Felipe had achieved a new level of pro-efficiency into the System in the mid-2000s, while I, who had practically begun with him, was left behind. I still quarreled with myself, not understanding why a good "bad guy face" and a great "impetus" did not lead me to the same level.

Foi também graças ao Mestre Felipe Soares que comecei a participar da organização dos aniversários de meu próprio Mestre Julio Camacho. Pois foi em 2006, que debruçado numa mureta de madeira da casa na qual aconteceu a lendária apresentação de nossa banda para homenagear Si Fu, que reclamei com ele do valor do evento, o que me impossibilitaria de participar. Ele teria dito: "...Como sempre são as mesmas pessoas a organizar, os valores tendem a ser sempre os mesmos, pois não conhecemos tantos lugares assim. Da próxima vez se você ajudar na organização, aí você pode indicar um local que não pensaríamos sozinhos..." - Ele falou aquilo com tanta calma e de forma tão lógica, que eu não tinha como não aceitar sua proposição.

It was also thanks to Master Felipe Soares that I began to participate in the organization of the birthdays of my own Master Julio Camacho. It was in 2006, leaning on a wooden wall of the house in which the legendary performance of our band happened to honor Si Fu,that I complained with him about the cost of the event, which would make it impossible for me to participate. He would have said, "... Since it's always the same people to organize, costs tend to always be the same, because we do not know so many places like that. Next time if you help with the organization, then you can point new places wich we would not think by ourselves ... "- He spoke so calmly and so logically that I could just accept his proposition.

Recentemente experimentamos boas oportunidades de aproximação, com a "Visita Oficial ao Núcleo Freguesia e ao Núcleo Copacabana". Em ambas as oportunidades, foi possível rir, brincar e falar sério sobre temas relevantes contando também com a presença da querida Elisa, sua esposa. 

Graças a isso, nos foi possível marcarmos um café da manhã no bairro da Freguesia numa ensolarada manhã da Zona Oeste do Rio. Foi uma manhã muito marcante para mim.

Recently we have experienced good opportunities for approaching, with the Official Visit  of Grand Master Leo, Si Gung, to the MYVT Freguesia School and the MYVT Copacabana School . On both occasions, it was possible to laugh, play and talk seriously about relevant topics, also counting on the presence of the dear Elisa, his wife.

Thanks to this, we were able to have breakfast in the neighborhood of the Freguesia on a sunny morning in the West Zone of Rio. It was a very striking morning for me.

Apesar de dentro da parte formal dessa relação sermos separados por uma diferença geracional, já que ele é da décima primeira geração e eu da décima segunda da Linhagem Moy Yat. Em termos humanos me sinto próximo à ele. 

De alguma maneira a conversa se desenvolveu por diferentes temas nos quais os dois puderam falar um pouco sobre suas impressões a respeito de como conciliar a dedicação ao círculo marcial (Mo Lam) e a outras atividades do dia a dia. 

Foram momentos interessantes, pois geralmente quando converso com Si Suk Ursula , que possui uma ascendência em relação a mim por toda nossa história. Então ouço suas colocações sem dar muita coisa em troca. Já com Si Suk Felipe, tive uma sensação muito curiosa: Pois pela primeira vez desde 2015 quando fui titulado. Me senti em alguns momentos trocando de igual para igual com outro Mestre. 

Although within the formal part of this relationship we are separated by a generational difference, since he is of the eleventh generation and I of the twelfth generationof the Moy Yat Lineage. In human terms I feel close to him.

Somehow the conversation developed through different themes in which the two could talk a little about their impressions of how to reconcile dedication to the martial arts circles (Mo Lam) and other day to day activities.

These were interesting moments, because usually when I talk to Si Suk Ursula, who has an ascendancy over me because of our history. So I listen to her advices without giving much in return. But with Si Suk Felipe, I had a very curious feeling: For the first time since 2015 when I was titled Qualified Master. I felt myself in some moments changing to an equal with another Master.

Foi bem legal como esses encontros se desdobraram. Já que pouco tempo depois me encontrava numa Cerimônia Tradicional(foto) de sua Família Kung Fu (falaremos em outro artigo). Nesta Cerimônia fui "Testemunha Honorável", o que para mim foi uma honra e uma oportunidade de observar a dinâmica de sua Família Kung Fu, agora com outro olhar , após saber mais a respeito de sua lógica de condução graças a nossa conversa naquele café da manhã.

It was really cool how those meetings unfolded. Since a short time later I was in a Traditional Ceremony(photo) of his Kung Fu Family (we will speak in another article). In this Ceremony I was a "Honorable Witness", which for me was an honor and an opportunity to observe the dynamics of his Kung Fu Family, now with another look, after learning more about his driving logic thanks to our conversation in that morning.

Encerramos esse primeiro ciclo de encontros com uma animada conversa numa localidade da Freguesia que eu não conhecia, mas que nos foi possível ouvir Blues e Rock dos anos '70. 

Caminhamos a pé pelas ruas da Freguesia, e rimos bastante com alguns comentários que fazíamos sobre assuntos triviais , outras vezes importantes, até que chegamos ao nosso destino. De alguma forma, acredito que tenhamos conseguido falar de diferentes assuntos , de forma divertida. 

Quanto a mim, pude experimentar uma excelente noite e rir bastante . Foi bem divertido e enriquecedor! 

Fica então combinado, assistir um cover de "Bon Jovi" quando tiver "(risos). 

We closed this first cycle of meetings with a lively conversation in a locality of the Freguesia neghborhood that I did not know, but we were able to listen to Blues and American Rock from the '70s.

We walked on foot through the streets of the Freguesia, and laughed a lot with some comments we made on trivial matters until we reached our destination. Somehow, I think we've been able to talk about different subjects in a fun way.

As for me, I had a great night and had a lot of fun. It was really fun and enriching!

It's then agreed, watch a cover of "Bon Jovi" when it happens(laughs).
