Neste dia 27 de Agosto, celebramos os vinte anos que meu Si Hing, o Mestre classe "Qualificado" pela Moy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence. E que é reconhecido internacionalmente através da "International Moy Yat Ving Tsun Federation", entrou na Família Kung Fu.
Seu nome é Leonardo Santos dos Reis, popularmente conhecido como "Leo Reis". Seu "Nome kung-fu" é "Moy Lei Wong". É casado com Cátia Reis e tem dois filhos, Lucas  e Luana. Profissionalmente é sócio de uma empresa (www.empresafacil.com.br) de software para automação de negócios, que fundou em 1995.

On this August 27, we celebrate the twenty years that my Si Hing, the Qualified Master by Moy Yat Ving Tsun Martial Intelligence as also by the "International Moy Yat Ving Tsun Federation," , joined the Kung Fu Family.

No último Sábado , no almoço que ocorreu após a 70º Cerimônia Tradicional do Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou. Foi realizada uma singela homenagem ao membro mais antigo da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou: O "Daai Si Hing" da Família, Mestre Leonardo Reis.
Na ocasião, os membros mais antigos e aqueles que ocupam posições de liderança no Clã Moy Jo Lei Ou teceram algumas palavras sobre esta carismática pessoa que está conosco por duas décadas.
Muito se falou sobre sua capacidade de "cuidar" dos mais novos de uma maneira muito singular. Sua já conhecida habilidade técnica também foi citada, mas de fato, o que se tornou mais emblemático, foram os relatos de diferentes momentos onde a atenção cuidadosa do Daai Si Hing se sobressaiu.

Last Saturday, at lunch that occurred after the 70th Traditional Moy Jo Lei Ou Clan Ceremony . A simple homage was paid to the oldest member of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family: The "Daai Si Hing" of the Family, Master Leonardo Reis.
On the occasion, the older members and those holding leadership positions in the Moy Jo Lei Ou Clan  wove a few words about this charismatic person who has been with us for two decades.
Much has been said about his ability to "care" for the youngsters in a very unique way. His already known technical skills was also quoted, but in fact, what became more embemmatic, were the reports of different times where the careful attention from him to others Daai excelled.

Si Fu fez referência ao fato de que curiosas coincidências com datas rodeiam a pessoa do Daai Si Hing, já que ele nascera no mesmo dia de sua esposa Cátia Reis, seus filhos nasceram no mesmo dia com alguns anos de diferença. E como se isso tudo já não fosse surpreendente o bastante. Ele entrara na Família Kung Fu no mesmo dia, ainda que obviamente em anos diferentes, do que seu Si Fu.
Si Fu também falou sobre a relação ímpar que o Daai Si Hing mantém com sua família e toda a sua dedicação a estas três pessoas: Sua esposa e seu casal de filhos.

Si Fu referred to the fact that curious coincidences with dates surround the person of Daai Si Hing, since he was born on the same day as his wife Cátia Reis, his children were born the same day with a few years difference. Outra coincidência interessante a que Si Fu fez referência, foi a de que nos titulamos Mestres na mesma data. Si Fu frisou algumas de nossas diferenças com relação a um pouco do que ocorreu após a nossa titulação. Isso porque, logo no ano seguinte, resolvi abrir minha Família Kung Fu. Si Hing Leonardo por outro lado, dedicou-se ainda com mais afinco às práticas, a transmissão do Sistema para os irmãos Kung Fu no Mo Gun de Si Fu. Mantendo-se presente no dia a dia do Mo Gun da Família Moy Jo Lei Ou.

Another interesting coincidence that Si Fu made reference to was that we had ben titled Masters on the same date. Si Fu emphasized some of our differences with respect to a little of what happened after our titling. That's because, the following year, I decided to open my Kung Fu Family. Si Hing Leonardo on the other hand, devoted himself even more closely to the practices, the transmission of the System to the Kung Fu brothers in the Mo Gun of Si Fu. Keeping present in the day to day of Mo Gun of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family .

Si Fu também citou a ocasião em que esteve com o Daai Si Hing em Brasilia. Enquanto todos olhavam para o momento aparentemente mais emblemático , que foi o reconhecimento da International Moy Yat Ving Tsun Federation de Leonardo Reis como Mestre Classe "Qualificado" (Qualified Master) de Décima Segunda Geração. Um fato muito marcante acontecera no invisível no Domingo: Si Fu se sentiu muito mal. Segundo seu próprio relato, algo que não é muito comum de acontecer. Si Fu precisou deitar-se e em determinado momento ficou zonzo. Porém, no último Sábado,durante o almoço em que homenageávamos o Daai Si Hing ele teria dito: "... Eu sabia que estava cuidado. Podia fechar os olhos tranquilo, porque se acontecesse alguma coisa eu pensei: Essa pessoa tem condições de cuidar de mim..." - Falou , dentre outras coisas que aconteceram naquele início de tarde no quarto do hotel, em referência a atenção cuidadosa do Si Hing Leonardo.

Si Fu also mentioned the occasion when he was with Daai Si Hing in Brasilia. While everyone looked at the seemingly most iconic moment, it was the recognition of Leonardo Reis by the  International Moy Yat Ving Tsun Federation as a Qualified Master of the 12th Generation. A very striking fact had happened in the invisible on Sunday: Si Fu felt very sick. According to his own account, something that is not very common to happen. Si Fu needed to lie down and at some point he was dizzy. However, last Saturday, during the lunch at which we honored Daai Si Hing, he would have said, "... I knew I was being cared by Leo. I could close my eyes, because if anything happened I thought, he would care about me ... "- He said, among other things that happened that early afternoon in the hotel room, in reference to the careful attention of Si Hing Leonardo.

Quando fomos titulados Mestres, nos tornamos os primeiros de Décima Segunda Geração do Grande Clã Moy Yat Sang , ainda em Agosto de 2015. Acredito que naquele dia, estávamos apenas nervosos e felizes. Não sabíamos porém, que passávamos a ser, ainda que não para sempre os únicos, representantes de uma nova geração de Mestres. Os sonhos de muitos Mestres antes de nós, em toda nossa Linhagem direta , apoiava-se a partir dali sobre nossas costas. E esta é uma sensação estranha quando descoberta, pois todo o trabalho de Si Gung e Si Fu se expressaria, através dessa nova geração que surgia. Poderíamos contribuir como nunca ninguém fizera antes, como comprometer toda a Linhagem.
Naquele Sábado porém, deixei estes pensamentos de lado, e pude falar para todos à mesa, do grande exemplo que o Daai Si Hing é para todos nós, apenas por ter ficado tempo suficiente para que se completassem duas décadas.

When we were titled as Qualified Masters, we became the first of the 12th Generation of the Grand Clan Moy Yat Sang, still in August 2015. I believe that on that day we were just nervous and happy. We did not know, however, that we were, even if not forever, the representatives of a new generation of Masters. The dreams of many Masters before us, in all our direct Lineage, leaned from there on our backs. And this is a strange feeling when discovered, because all the work of Si Gung and Si Fu would express itself through this new generation that came. We could contribute as no one else had ever done before, or compromising the entire lineage.
On that Saturday, however, I left these thoughts aside, and I was able to speak to everyone at the table, of the great example that the Daai Si Hing is for all of us, just for having stayed long enough for two decades to be completed.

Podemos dizer então, que todas as habilidades do Mestre Leonardo Reis, por mais incríveis que sejam, perdem para uma única em meio a tantas: A habilidade de permanecer ao lado de seu Si Fu. Ou seja: A habilidade de se estar junto.

We can say then that all the skills of Master Leonardo Reis, incredible as they are, lose to a single among so many: The ability to stay next to his Si Fu. That is: The ability to stay together.

Chegou o livro do Mestre Leonardo Reis! (The new book by Master Leonardo Reis!)

Numa manhã de Quinta, fui surpreendido com um presente inesperado: Um exemplar novinho de "Dragões da Tempestade" , livro do Mestre Leonardo Reis, que é meu irmão Kung Fu.
Fiquei muito tocado com a lembrança, pois finalmente com a versão impressa, poderei apreciar esta obra, tão festejada não só entre nossos pares do Círculo Marcial, mas principalmente, por nomes de peso do circuito literário e da blogosfera especializada. Além disso, obviamente me comoveu o carinho do primeiro Mestre de Décima Segunda Geração da Linhagem Moy Yat em toda a América Latina, ao me presentear com sua obra literária.

One Thursday morning I was surprised by an unexpected gift: A brand new copy of "Storm Dragons", a book by Master Leonardo Reis, who is my Kung Fu brother.
I was very touched by the gift, because finally with the printed version, I can appreciate this work, so celebrated not only between our Martial Circle peers, but mainly, by heavy names of the literary circuit and the specialized blogosphere. In addition, I was obviously moved by the affection of the first Master of the Twelfth Generation of the Moy Yat Lineage throughout Latin America, when he gifted me  with his literary work.

Si Fu , que estava presente, fez questão de posar junto conosco para uma foto oficial para registrar o momento em que recebi esse incrível presente(imagem acima): "...Vamos tirar uma foto nós três! Os três escritores!..." - Me convidou Si Fu sorrindo, fazendo referência gentilmente a esta singela página que completou 10 anos em 2017. No caso do próprio Si Fu, sua contribuição escrita se deu ainda no início da década de 2000 com a publicação do primeiro volume da trilogia "Tao do Surf" : "Tao do Surf - Zen e a Arte de Pegar Onda".  Um livro inovador, pois apresentava uma "Perspectiva Kung Fu", expressão cunhada pelo Professor Pei Min Ni da GrandValley University, associada ao Surf. Uma verdadeira quebra de paradigmas já que se trata de um livro escrito por um Mestre de Artes Marciais Chinesas.

A mais de uma década atrás, me recordo de quando numa palestra, meu Si Gung Leo Imamura, falou um pouco sobre sua interpretação naquela época, do nome "Ving Tsun" (詠春). 

Eu não conhecia nada sobre o idioma chinês, então tudo era novidade, por isso, me impressionei quando ele disse, que poderíamos particionar esses dois ideogramas. Desta forma teríamos o ideograma 言  que tem como significado mais emblemático "Falar". E 永 (Ving) que tem como significado mais pontual "Eterno".  Quando juntamos os dois, a pronúncia se mantém Ving(詠).
Sobre o outro ideograma 春(Tsun), seu significado é "Primavera".  Si Gung teria dito então, que "Falar Eternamente" se desdobraria na possibilidade da ideia de "Cantar" e "Primavera" 春(Tsun) portaria o potencial de "renovação" ou de "quebra de paradigmas" já que o velho na primavera, dá lugar ao novo. E , nesse caso, "Cantar para a Primavera"["Ving Tsun" (詠春)] , segundo o que entendi dessa sua explicação, seria a capacidade do praticante desta arte, sempre valorizar e se apoiar na quebra de paradigmas. Como se o "Cantar" nesse caso, fosse um festejo perante a renovação "Primavera".

More than a decade ago, I remember when in a lecture, my Si Gung Leo Imamura, spoke a little about his interpretation at that time, of the name "Ving Tsun" (詠 春).
I did not know anything about the Chinese language at the time, so everything was new, so I was impressed when he said that we could partition these two ideograms. In this way we would have the character 言  that has the most emblematic meaning "To Speak". And 永 (Ving) which has the most punctual meaning "Eternal". When we put the two together, the pronunciation remains Ving (詠).
On the other ideogram 春 (Tsun), its meaning is "Spring".Si Gung would have said something like "Speaking Eternally" would unfold in the possibility of the idea of ​​"Singing" and "Spring" 春 (Tsun) would bring about the potential of "renewal" or "paradigm break" since the old one in the spring, Gives way to the new. And in this case, "Ving Tsun" (詠 春), according to what I understood from this explanation, would be the ability of the practitioner of this art, to always value and rely on the breaking of paradigms. As if the "Sing" in this case, was a celebration before the renewal "Spring."

 Conheço Mestre Leonardo Reis a mais de uma década, e um de nossos contatos mais interessantes. Foi quando ele gentilmente me emprestou um pouco conhecido remake de "Golden Axe"(foto) em meados dos anos 2000. "Golden Axe" , sucesso de 1989 dos Arcades, veio no embalo do filme de 1982 baseado na obra de Robert E. Howard: "Conan, o Bárbaro". Foi naquele momento , que pela primeira vez descobri o gosto do Mestre Leonardo Reis por fantasia reunindo dragões , espadas e todo esse mundo.

I've known Mestre Leonardo Reis for more than a decade, and one of our most interesting contacts. It was when he kindly lent me a little-known remake of "Golden Axe" (photo) in the mid-2000s. "Golden Axe"(1989)was a hit of the Arcades, came in the throes of the 1982 film based on the work of Robert E. Howard : "Conan the Barbarian". It was at that moment that for the first time I discovered Master Leonardo Reis's taste for fantasy gathering dragons, swords, and the whole world of fantasy.

Inspirado por seu irmão quando era ainda muito jovem, o autor de "Dragões da Tempestade", escrevia redações muito criativas e elogiadas por sua professora e escola.Mais tarde o autor tomaria contato com um anúncio sobre um concurso da Amazon para roteiros de cinema .
O fato de estar desanimado com a incapacidade dos filmes de cinema gerarem alguma conexão emocional consigo,o ajudou a tomar a decisão de colocar suas ideias no papel.

Inspired by his brother when he was still very young, the author of "Storm Dragons" wrote very creative essays and was praised by his teacher and school. Later the author would contact an advertisement about an Amazon contest for movie scripts.
The fact that he was discouraged by the inability of movies to generate an emotional connection with him helped him make the decision to put his ideas on paper.

Sua maior motivação ainda asism ,foi assumir o desafio de mostrar aos seus filhos que com muita dedicação, empenho e colocando de verdade o coraçãoem algo. É possível alcançar um determinado nível de excelência e realizar um trabalho muito bem feito.
Ele não ganhou o concurso na Amazon naquela época, mas conseguiu ganhar alguns outros e conquistou posições de destaque em uns outros 30 ao redor do mundo.  Lá também conheceu vários outros roteiristas (curiosamente dois deles tinham praticado Ving Tsun assim como ele) e as trocas de críticas e análises com eles renderam, mais que o título de "Top Reviewer", muito aprendizado.

His biggest motivation yet was to take up the challenge of showing his children that with a lot of dedication, commitment and really putting ones heart in something. You can achieve a certain level of excellence and do a  well done piece of work.
He did not win the contest on Amazon at that time, but managed to win a few others and gained prominent positions in another 30 around the world. There he also met several other writers (interestingly two of them had practiced Ving Tsun as well as him), and the exchanges of criticism and analysis with them yielded, much more than the title of "Top Reviewer", much learning.

Em sua jornada de aperfeiçoamento, o autor tomou a revisão de outro Mestre de Ving Tsun, Felipe Soares,  que leu a versão em inglês, como determinante para que executasse uma mudança importante a qual  estava relutante em fazer. 

Empolgado, o autor preparou o volume 1 de 6 de uma Graphic Novel e agora uma versão adaptada em livro.
 Quem ler a obra vai perceber que tem um formato diferente,  algo que o autor chama de "Cinelivro". É uma leitura dinâmica com o intuito de fazer o leitor assistir um filme com os olhos de sua mente com um final inesperado! 

Como bônus os praticantes de Ving Tsun poderão perceber conceitos comuns, como a relação Mestre-discípulo, irmandade kung-fu e a óbvia personagem feminina , com uma espécie de Baat Jam Do nas mãos, além de outros elementos.
