Já ouvi dizer que : "Um homem dura uma vida, mas um nome dura pra sempre".- Essa sem dúvidas é uma frase bem inspiradora, e um dos nomes que a quase 50 anos não é esquecido é o de Bruce Lee.

Philip Ng é nascido em Hong Kong , mas passou quase toda a sua vida em Chicago. Após ter contato com outras artes chinesas como Hung Ga e Choy Lee Fut, se tornou discípulo do lendário Wong Shung Leung, Si Hing de meu Si Taai Gung Moy Yat.
Philip conseguiu se firmar como um grande nome do cinema de artes marciais de Hong Kong, se tornando inclusive coreográfo e repórter do fabuloso programa de Hong Kong "Kung Fu Quest". No qual Philip e outros praticantes de artes marciais de Hong Kong viajavam até locais ermos da China continental para conhecer Sistemas e Si Fu tradicionais. Ele se destacava pelo seu respeito com os entrevistados, coisa que seus amigos nem sempre faziam, e por sua amabilidade.
Philip contribui sempre para a propagação do Ving Tsun, seja pelo seu caráter ou por papéis marcantes como Chan Wah Shun, na novela "Wing Chun" de 2007, quando contracenou com a lenda viva Yuen Biao que estrelava a produção no papel de Leung Jaan.

When the trailer for the new film about Bruce Lee starring Philip Ng came out, I must say that I was afraid while watching. This is because the number of bad productions involving this icon is such that we always have a back foot when a new production is launched.
The film apparently, will tell the Bruce story on the way to becoming an icon, and focuses on the famous fight with Wong Jack Man in San Francisco.
O trailer apresenta Wong Jack Man como um monge Shaolin e Bruce Lee como alguém objetivo e voltado para resultados práticos. O filme mostrará , a resistência do Círculo Marcial Chinês com o fato de Bruce estar ensinando ocidentais.

Billy Magnussen talvez seja o grande problema desse filme num primeiro momento. Ele interpreta um personagem fictício chamado Steve McKee, que talvez seja uma referência a Steve Mcqueen , famoso ator de cinema e aluno privativo de Lee.
A questão aqui não é simplesmente o que ele fará no filme, e sim, o fato de que para o filme ser relevante no ocidente, tenha que ter um caucasiano de alguma forma na produção. Foi assim com "O Reino Proibido (Forbidden Kingdom,2008) que estrelava Jackie Chan , Jet Li e um rapaz aleatório caucasiano. Será que mesmo que quase 50 anos após sua morte, o ícone Bruce Lee , não seria suficiente para vender esse filme no ocidente? Não seria mais inteligente usar sua esposa , Linda Lee, como contraparte caucasiana no filme?
The issue here is not just what he does in the film, but the fact that for the film to be relevant in the West, have to have a Caucasian somehow in production. So it was with "The Forbidden Kingdom (2008), which starred Jackie Chan, Jet Li and a random Caucasian guy. Is that even almost 50 years after his death, Bruce Lee icon would not be enough to sell this movie on west ? Would not it be smarter to use his wife, Linda Lee ,as Caucasian counterpart in the film?
Estamos obviamente falando de negócios aqui. E se para vender um filme isso é necessário, saiba que farão hoje e sempre. Porém, se em algum momento a ideia foi homenagear a memória de Bruce Lee, que tanto lutou contra o racismo no cinema ocidental. Conceitualmente o filme ja começa equivocado.
We are obviously talking about business here. And if to sell a film it is necessary it will be done for sure. However, if at any time the idea was to honor the memory of Bruce Lee, who fought against racism in Western cinema. Conceptually the film already begins wrong.
