O Ving Tsun ou Wing Chun está sendo ensinado aos policiais do Batalhão de Operações Especiais (BOPE)."A técnica ensina a ter controle emocional e faz com que numa situação crítica,por exemplo, uma troca de tiros,ele relaxe e encontre o melhor jeito de sair daquela situação", afirma um dos instrutores,Fábio Gomes, filho do comandante do Corpo de Bombeiros do Rio, Coronel Paulo Gomes. "Se pudermos vencer nossos adversários com a inteligência, é melhor do que usar a arma", admite o comandante do Batalhão, Coronel Venâncio Moura.
Nos treinamentos , os homens do BOPE aprendem a ter paciência e autocontrole apanhando. Os policiais levam socos,tapas na cara, chutes na barriga,rasteiras e outros tipos de golpes violentos. Segundo o instrutor Fabio Gomes, a técnica consiste em aumentar o grau de crise dos envolvidos em uma situação grave, até que eles relaxem e saiam da situação arriscada em que se encontram."Com o aumento da crise, ele vai chegar a um ponto em que passa a ter um controle emocional,dominar a situação.Ele é capaz de encontrar,durante o enfrentamento de uma situação,a melhor solução para se sair bem do perigo." , diz.
