Reforming the MYVT Meier Branch (Reformando o Nucleo Méier)

Para começar o novo ano, e se preparar para a inauguração oficial do Núcleo Méier com a presença de
Si Gung Leo Imamura, era preciso que todos os membros se reunissem para que ajustes fossem feitos.

To start the new year, and prepare for the official inauguration of the MYVT Meier Branch with the presence of Si Gung Leo Imamura, it was necessary that all members come together to make adjustments to be made.

Na verdade, seria muito mais fácil contratar pintores e pessoas que trabalham com obras para fazer um trabalho melhor e mais rápido. Porém, o Mo Gun é nossa casa, a casa da Familia Kung Fu, e nada melhor do que os próprios membros terem a oportunidade de fazê-lo.

In fact, it would be easier to hire painters and people who work with to do a better and faster job . However, the Mo Gun  is our home, the home of the Kung Fu Family , and nothing better than the members themselves have the opportunity to do so.

 Durante as reformas de um dos Mo Gun que liderou em sua carreira, Si Fu ajuda a pintar as grades de uma das janelas com outros dois membros da Familia Kung Fu.

Muito mais do que "ajudar na obra do Nucleo", a atenção cuidadosa com o Mo Gun, é fundamental para que possamos dar um passo em relação a pensar o Kung Fu em tudo que fazemos.

Ninguém é pintor, escultor, eletricista, nem nada parecido. Mas a cada um desses momentos, descobrimos que com Kung Fu desenvolvido durante as sessões, conseguimos realizar coisas que julgavamos impossiveis até então...

Much more than "help" careful attention to the Mo Gun,  is essential for us to take a step ahead to think about Kung Fu in everything we do.

No one is a painter, sculptor, electrician, or anything. But in each of these moments, we find that with Kung Fu developed during the sessions, we do things we thought impossible until now ...

Em meio a sua participação nos ajustes no Mo Gun, Leo Descoffier recebeu a noticia que seu filho havia se machucado neste exato momento.

Leo sabendo que ainda havia trabalo a ser feito, não sendo possivel estar de volta na Sexta, passou a manhã de Sabado comigo no Mo Gun.

Leo receives a call from his wife, telling that his 2 years old son, had hurt his foot in the exactly moment of the picture.

Leo knew that there were a lot of work to do. And being not able to come back Friday, he spent all the Saturday morning helping me.

Si Fu certa vez disse pra mim:

"Pereira, existem alguns tipos de praticantes: Aquele que espera alguém pedir pra fazer e faz, aquele que espera alguém pedir pra fazer e faz reclamando, aquele que espera alguém pedir e não faz. Existe  aquele que vê que precisa ser feito e finge que não viu, e aquele que vê que precisa ser feito e espera alguém pedir que o faça. E finalmente, aquele que vê que pecisa ser feito, faz, e ninguém  fica sabendo. E então Pereira? Em qual destes que falei você se encaixa?"

My Si Fu Julio Camacho once said to me:

"Pereira, there are some types of practitioners: The one who waits for someone to ask him to do something and do. The one who waits for someone to ask him to do, and do complaining. The one who waits for someone to ask him to do something and he does not do. There is one who sees what needs to be done and  and pretends not to see, and there is also that one who sees what needs to be done and waits for someone to ask him to do, and finally, the one who sees that something must be done, does, and nobody knows it. 

So now Pereira, wich one fits you? "

A Filosofia do Kung Fu: Um erro conceitual.

The Philosophy of Kung Fu: A conceptual error.

Algo que é muito comum de se ouvir , é "a filosofia do kung fu". Principalmente quando chega alguém para procurar a arte e diz: "Eu queria aprender uma arte marcial, mas que tivesse a filosofia também..."

Si Fu costuma comentar, que tratar o Kung Fu como "filosofia" é um erro conceitual, pois basea-se no Pensamento Chinês Clássico onde se encontram os processos: 

"Mo Faat" (不法) - que significa "ausência de método" , no que tange a transmissão do conhecimento.

"Mo Saam" (不心) - No que tange a "ausência de vontade" ("Não-mente")

  

Something that is very common to hear, is "the philosophy of kung fu." Especially when someone comes to look for this art and says, "I wanted to learn a martial art, but also had the philosophy ..."

Si Fu usually comment, to deal with the Kung Fu as "philosophy" is a misconception, because it is based on the classical Chinese thinking where are the processes of:

"Mo Faat" (不 法) - which means "no method", regarding the transmission of knowledge.

"Saam Mo" (不 心) - "No-mind"

Na primeira postagem de 2012, num ano que todos dizem que o mundo vai acabar, nada melhor do que ouvir alguém que com quem sabe, mais uns dois anos de treino, seria capaz de fazê-lo por si mesmo..rsrs

In the first post of 2012, a year that all say the world will end, nothing better than to hear a person that maybe with a couple more years of training, would be able to do it by himself .. lol

 Muito mais do que um entusiasmo de iniciante pelo meu Si Hing, Leonardo Reis é aquele que carrega a condição em suas costas, de ser o membro mais antigo da Familia Moy Jo lei Ou liderada por nosso Si Fu Julio Camacho.

Much more than a beginner's enthusiasm for the Si Hing, Leonardo Reis is the one who carries on his back,the condition of being the oldest member of the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family, leaded by our Si Fu Julio Camacho.

Daai Si Hing (大師兄) , significa "Grande irmão mais velho" , ou, "o mais velho dos irmãos mais velhos".

 Daai Si Hing (大師兄) means "The Great Older Brother" or "The Oldest Brother of the Older Brothers"

 

 Si Hing Leo, não só é uma grande pessoa, divertida,e  que está sempre sorrindo (em contraste com as fotos que escolhi..rs) , mas também possui uma habilidade de compreensão e execução das técnicas, que honram a fama do Ving Tsun em combate.

Além de ser uma honra ter esta, como uma das duas pessoas que posso chamar de Si Hing, é com grande entusiasmo que finalmente termino a tradução de sua entrevista fantastica falando sobre chutes altos no Ving Tsun...  Acompanhem!

Si Hing Leo is not only a great person, fun, and that is always smiling (in contrast to the photos that I chose .. lol), but also has an ability to understand and execute the Ving Tsun techniques that honor the fame of the Ving Tsun in combat.

Besides being an honor to have this as one of the two people I can call Si Hing, is with great excitement that I finally finish the translation of the interview where he talking about  high kicks in Ving Tsun ... WATCH!

Numa Terça-feira, 31 de Janeiro de 2001,no obituário impresso pelo Sing Tao Daily de Nova York, estava escrito:

-Ocupação: Chang Lik - Presidente da casa de Reunião da Familia Moy
-Ocupação Anterior: Pres. da Assoc. de Alunos da Universidade Chu Hoi
-Ocupação atual: Líder do Conselho Administrativo da Nga Chap de arte e literatura  e Líder da International Moy Yat Ving Tsun Federation.


 In a Tuesday, January 31, 2001, in the obituary printed by the Sing Tao Daily in New York, was written:

-Occupation: Chang Lik  - Chairman of the Moy Family Meeting House
-Previous Occupation: Pres. of the Assoc. Students at the University of Chun Hoi
-Present Occupation: Leader of the Board of Nga Chap art and literature and leader of the International Moy Yat Ving Tsun Federation.

 Yit Kai, conhecido pelos nomes Moy Yat e Moy Go Yan, Moy Kung Fu Kwan, nativo de Yau Kom Chuen, Vila Duen Fan, Distrito Toi Shan , Provincia de Kwong Tung, faleceu no dia 23 de Janeiro de 2001 em idade avançada e acumulando-se os intercalares,foi com 66 anos de idade. Os restos mortais atualmente estão depositados na Casa Funeraria Chinesa Cheung Sang. No dia 04 de Fevereiro(Domingo) as 10:30 h. sai o enterro. Finda a Cerimônia , imediatamente o corpo e o caixão seguem para serem enterrados no Cemitério de Kensisco, em Upstate New York, Chi Chek Sau Tei, Tim Sok.

Parentes de mesmo sobrenome e de sobrenome diferente TAU HEUNG SAI YI que lamentam esse anuncio de falecimento.

The remains are now deposited in the Chinese Cheung Sang Funeral Home. On February 4 (Sunday) at 10:30 h. out to the burial. Ceremony ends, immediately follow the body and the coffin to be buried in the Cemetery of Kensisco in Upstate New York, CHI CHEK SAU TEI TIM SOK.

Relatives of the same name and different last name YAU HEUNG SAI YI  who lament the death announcement.

 Como alguns de vocês sabem, meu Si Fu Julio Camacho esteve visitando Nova York em viagem oficial com Si Gung e Si Sok Celso Grande(que aparecem na foto) além de outros representantes do Clã Moy yat Sang.

As some of you know, my Si Fu was in NY in a official trip with Si Gung and another brothers of him like Si Sok Celso Grande(photo).

MOY LIN MAH´S Sing Sang(先生)'S BIRTHDAY! ( O ANIVERSÁRIO DO Sing Sang(先生) DA FAM. MOY LIN MAH!)

Hoje é celebrado o aniversário do esposo da líder da Familia Moy Lin Mah,Ricardo Lopes.
Na foto acima, vemos os dois ainda bem jovens, em meio a um namoro que durou anos, até que se casassem e tivessem uma linda filha chamada Rebeka.

Today is celebrated the birthday of the husband of the leader of Moy Lin Mah Family, Ricardo Lopes.

In the photo above, we see the two still very young, in the midst of a courtship that lasted for years until they marry and have a beautiful daughter named Rebeka.

Na cultura chinesa, ainda que o o Fu(父) do termo "Si Fu"(師父) , signifique "pai", ele não possui genero, portanto, é aplicável tanto a homens quanto a mulheres. Assim, Si Sok Ursula, para seus alunos é Si Fu Ursula.  Porém...

In Chinese culture, even the character  Fu (父) from the term "Si Fu" (師父), means "father", it has no gender, therefore, is applicable to both men and women. Thus, Si Sok Ursula, for her students is Si Fu Ursula. But ...

A esposa do Si fu, chamamos Si Mo(師母), onde "Mo"(母) significa "mãe". Mas este sim,é um termo para mulheres. No caso dos maridos de uma Si Fu, usamos apenas um termo de tratamento que é Sing Sang(先生). Que literalmente significa "Senhor",mas também é atribuido a professores e maridos...

Si Fu's wife, is called  Si Mo (師母), where "Mo" (母) means "mother." But this is a term only for women. In the case of husbands of a  female Si Fu, you can use a treatment term  that is Sing Sang (先生). Which literally means "Mister", but is also attributed to teachers and husbands ...

A dedicação de Si Sok Ursula ao Ving Tsun, hoje é conhecida mundialmente. Mas é importante lembrarmos que existe uma vida além. Ricardo começou a namorá-la ainda muito jovem, e seu apoio durante todos estes anos foi e é muito importante. E mais do que ninguém, Ricardo Lopes teve que abrir mão de muitos feriados, finais de semana, e noites de Sexta com sua namorada para que esta pudesse se dedicar a sua carreira.

The dedication of  Si Sok Ursula on Ving Tsun, is now known worldwide. But it is important to remember that there is life beyond it. Ricardo began courting her still very young, and his support during all these years  was very important. And more than anyone, Ricardo Lopes had to give up many holidays, weekends and Friday nights with his girlfriend 'cause her had to stay with the Kung Fu Family.

Recently , Ricardo made this tattoo as a birthday gift to his wife, Si Sok Ursula showing his uncondicional support to her. The tattoo guy was very talented!

Si Sok Ursula Lima e seu marido Ricardo Lopes trazem consigo um ineditismo para as Familias Kung Fu no Brasil, onde não só temos uma mulher como líder de Familia, mas também , um novo termo para uma nova pessoa, o marido.

Quando os praticantes se conscientizam de que o Si Fu não é um robô, e que precisa de pessoas por trás para estar ali para estes mesmos praticantes, todas estas pessoas serão devidamente valorizadas!

Por isso, nesta data, o BLog do Pereira deseja "Feliz Aniversário" a Ricardo Lopes!

UNCOVERING IP MAN MOVIES (DESVENDANDO OS FILMES DO GRANDE MESTRE)

Hoje o Blog do Pereira apresenta finalmente, a série "Desvendando Ip Man". Afinal, quem nunca assistindo a um dos 3 filmes sobre sua vida, se perguntou o que "era real" e o que "não era". Ainda que as melhores perguntas não sejam exatamente estas duas, vamos juntos tentar entender melhor ,a dimensão do kung fu presente em cada filme...

Today the Peartree´s Blog finally brings the series "Discovering Ip Man." After all, who never watching one of the three films about his life,  wondered what "was real" and that "was not." Although the best questions are not exactly these two, together we seek to better understand the kung fu dimension in each movie...

  "Tai Bak Yeuk Yuk"[dàBáiruòrù] (大白若辱)  " A grande pureza parece um insulto"  "The great purity seems an insult"

ou ainda : "Kwong Tak Yeuk Bat Juk"[guǎngdéruòbù​zú](廣德若不足) "A larga virtude parece insuficiente".
 "The large virtue seems to be insuficient"
São expressões que talvez você nunca tenha ouvido falar, mas que poderiam representar bem a natureza de transmissão da arte do Ving Tsun por Ip Man.

Above, we have expressions that you might never have heard of, but that could represent well the nature of transmission of the art of Ving Tsun by Ip Man.

Durante os filmes O Grande Mestre 1 e 2 , podemos ver Ip man por várias vezes: sentado, fumando,comendo, conversando ou simplesmente assistindo seus discipulos praticarem.

Segundo meu Si Sok, o sinólogo Leonardo Mordente, este tipo de postura baseia-se nos moldes clássicos de transmissão da arte,onde uma aparente negligência pedagógica é uma manifestação disfarçada de alto grau de maestria do qual se espera que seus efeitos advenham,mas que seu autor não seja a eles associado.

During the film IP MAN 1 and 2, we can see Ip Man several times: sitting, smoking, eating, talking or just watching his disciples practicing.

According to my Si Sok, the sinologist Leonardo Mordente, this type of approach is based on the classic patterns of transmission of the art, where an apparent neglect in teaching, is a disguised manifestation of the high degree of mastery that expects that the effects arising, but its author is not associated with them.

Na celebrada obra "Arte da Guerra" está escrito:
"O que os antigos chamavam de guerreiro inteligente .... era alguém que suas vitórias não lhe traziam nem reputação de sabedoria nem crédito pela coragem, na medida em que eram obtidas em circunstâncias não esclarecidas. O mundo em geral , nada sabia delas e o guerreiro, dessa forma, não conseguia uma reputação de sabedoria..."

In the celebrated work "The Art of War" is written:

"What the ancients called a expert fighter .... was someone who  his victories not brought him neither reputation for wisdom nor credit for courage, as it were obtained in circunstances unclear. The world in general knew nothing of them and warrior, thus, could not get a reputation for wisdom ... "




Por isso, na cultura chinesa clássica, a reivindicação da autoria por algo realizado não é bem vista. O alto nível, é quando o autor existe, mas está diluído na manifestação desta: seja da guerra, da obra de arte, ou mesmo do Kung Fu do praticante.

Assim, Ip Man, quanto mais manteve-se neutro em relação a seus discipulos, mais possibilitava que os mesmos desenvolvessem seu próprio Kung Fu, sua própria interpretação da arte.


Por isso hoje, muitos se perguntam sobre o "autentico Ving Tsun". A quem Ip Man ensinou de verdade.
E seguindo esta lógica, fica mais fácil de entender...

Therefore, in classical Chinese culture, the claim of authorship by something done is not welcomed. The higher level is when the author exists, but is diluted at the rally: in the war, in the work of art, or even teaaching a Kung Fu practitioner.Thus, Ip Man, the more remained neutral in relation to his disciples, that allowed more they develop their own Kung Fu, his own interpretation of art. 
So today, many wonder about the "authentic Ving Tsun."For who  Ip Man  taught the truth. 
And following this logic, it becomes easier to understand ...

Nos dois filmes, somos apresentados a Familia Ip.

In the two movies we know the Ip Family.

Ip Man, casou-se com Jeung Wing Sing e teve 4 filhos: dois homens: Ip Hok Chun (que aparece nos dois filmes) , Ip Hok Jing(que nasce no segundo) e também duas meninas: Ip Nga Sum e Ip Nga Wun.

Ip Man married Jeung Wing Sing and they had four children: Two men: Ip Hok Chun (who appears in the two movies) and Ip hok Jing(who borns in the second one.) Also , two girls: Ip Nga Sum e Ip Nga Wun.

Muitas pessoas, questionaram e ainda questionam o Kung Fu de seus filhos, mas como dito acima: "Kwong Tak Yeuk Bat Juk"[guǎngdéruòbù​zú](廣德若不足) "A larga virtude parece insuficiente".

A lot of people says a lot about his sons kung fu, but as your read above:  "Kwong Tak Yeuk Bat Juk"[guǎngdéruòbù​zú](廣德若不足) - "The Large virtue seems insuficient"

 Jade Camacho, é filha do meu Si Fu. E por um bom tempo esteve praticando no Méier este ano, antes de toda essa confusão de escola, natal ,etc...  Si Fu disse na Cerimônia em que ela acessou o Cham Kiu:
"Pra quem não sabe, a Jade pratica no Méier, com meu discípulo Thiago Pereira. Foi uma forma de respeitar ela como praticante e deixar ela escrever sua própria história."

Jade is daughter of my Si Fu Julio Camacho, and this year had been trainning with me at MYVT Meier Branch, but because of the end of the year, and her final tests at school she stopped a little. During the Ceremony where her accessed the Cham Kiu level, Si Fu said: " Some may not know, but Jade practices with my disciple Thiago Pereira at Méier Mo Gun. This is a way to respect Jade and let she makes her own story in Ving Tsun"

Podendo acompanhar meu Si Fu com relação a Jade, vi o quanto é dificil, se de fato respeitarmos o
Kung Fu do outro, para um Si Fu e seu filho essa relação.

Temos na nossa cabeça, que o filho do Mestre deve ser aquele que sabe as "técnicas secretas" e quem tem que ser o "melhor de todos" em tudo. Também deve praticar diretamente com o pai o tempo todo...

Being able to follow my Si Fu about Jade, I saw how difficult it is, if indeed we respect the someone´s Kung Fu  ,to a Si Fu and his children that relationship.

We have in our head,that the son of the master should be the one who knows the "secret techniques" and who must be the "best of all" at all. Should also practice directly with the father all the time ...

Quem vê a foto, parece que Jade é só foco e arte, mas aí ela já tinha dito; "To com fome", "acho q amanha tenho prova", "minha amiga ia me ligar", "posso dar uma olhada no meu celular?" etc etc...

She looks very focused, but at this moment she already said a thousand of times:

"Si Hing! I´m hungry!" , "I think I have a test at school tomorrow!" , "Can I check my cell phone?" ,etc etc

Tive essa mesma  oportunidade que Jade por várias vezes. E assim como ela, no início era bem dificil focar, sem dar desculpas para parar. Mas foi exatamente o meu Si Fu, que além de pai, é Si Fu da Jade também, que me proporcionou a oportunidade de descobrir que a busca pelo foco é o grande lance, combater essa voz que nos pede para parar por qualquer motivo tolo.

For a thousand of times, I had the same opportunity as her(photo). And was very difficult for me too, to keep focused. My Si Fu (the same of her, and also her father), let me understand by myself, that the great thing is the pursuit of the focus, to fight a war inside you, that claims you to stop for any silly reason.

Da mesma forma, Ip Man deixou que muitos Si Hing(s) cuidassem do Kung Fu de seus filhos para que eles pudessem se desenvolver por si mesmos.

Obviamente, enganam-se aqueles que acham que fosse com seus filhos ou com outros praticantes, não existia um monitoramente do Kung Fu deles por parte de Ip Man ...

Ip Man let some Si Hing(s) take care of their sons in Kung Fu, so they could be express their kung fu by themselves.

But it is a mistake to think that with him or anybody, Ip man would not be looking after  them.

Ip Man manifestou seu alto grau de maestria que primou pela pureza da transmissão, ao deixar seus filhos se desenvolverem como os demais. Ainda assim: "Tai Bak Yeuk Yuk"[dàBáiruòrù] (大白若辱)  " A grande pureza parece um insulto" . 

Para muitos, isso pareceu e parece descaso.

Ip Man showed his high-degree in mastery kung fu when he let his sons go by their own feet. But even this way:  "Tai Bak Yeuk Yuk"[dàBáiruòrù] (大白若辱) "The great purity seems an isult".

For some people, it was a neglect by Ip Man.

E aí um dia eu levava Si Fu pra casa de carro e perguntei sobre como atuar em algumas situações com a Jade. Pois ao mesmo tempo em que eu tinha que deixá-la vivenciar essas "Guerras" comuns aos praticantes, ela também era filha do meu Si fu.

Si Fu respondeu:

"E é isso aí ! Ela tem que ter essa mesma oportunidade que você e os outros tem,mas ela também é filha do Si Fu. Se pra você não estiver claro como atuar, você vai prestar um desserviço"

And then one day I taking Si Fu home by car and asked him about how to act in some situations with Jade(his daughter and To Dai). Because I would have to let she experiences these "Wars" common to the practitioners, but she is also the daughter of my Si Fu.

Si Fu said:

"That's it! She must have the same opportunity that you and others have, but she is also the daughter of Si Fu. If it is not clear to you how to act, you will provide a disservice"

Esse diálogo, me fez ver de outra forma, essa relação "pai-filho/mestre-discipulo": Se o Si Fu pega a Jade e faz tudo diretamente, ele ensina uma pessoa. Se ele conversa comigo sobre como ajudar a Jade, ele ensina várias através de mim. Porque aquele aprendizado não ficará apenas na transmissão com a Jade...

This dialogue, let me think in another way, this relationship "father-daughter/master-student" . If Si Fu teaches  Jade directly and does everything  in person he will just teach her , one person. If he talks to me about how to help Jade, he teaches many through me. Because that learning will not be only for Jade ...
