The Story of the KIDS Class "IMC" in MYVT Meier School

Talvez você já tenha escutado essa história alguma vez, mas hoje, gostaria de contá-la de forma um pouco mais completa. Que história? Bem, a história das turmas infantis no Méier que de certa forma se mistura com o início de minha carreira.

Perhaps you have heard this story before, but today, I would like to tell it a little more completely. What story? Well, the story of the children's classes in  MYVT Méier that somehow mixes with the beginning of my career.

Num Domingo qualquer de 2007, acompanhei Si Fu até o imóvel de Marcia Velloso no Méier. Mácia, uma To Dai de Si Fu, trabalhava com dança no local mas estava passando por uma fase difícil . Si Fu, que sempre nos fala sobre desenvolvermos a habilidade de aderir, apoiar e propor, fez isso de forma muito intensa quando resolveu "estar junto" de Márcia na reestruturação de seu local.  E uma das propostas, é que em uma das salas funcionasse um Mo Gun de Ving Tsun. Si Suk Ursula, que também esteve presente na visita, seria a responsável.

On some Sunday in 2007, I accompanied Si Fu to Marcia Velloso's realty in Méier. Mácia, a To Dai of Si Fu, worked with dance in the place but was going through a difficult phase. Si Fu, who always tells us about developing the ability to accept, support and propose, did this very intensely when he decided to "be together" with Márcia in the restructuring of her place. And one of the proposals was that in one of the rooms worked a Mo Gun of Ving Tsun. Si Suk Ursula, who was also present at the visit, would be responsible.

Si Fu foi muito além de um simples apoio. Ele redesenhou desde a logo do local, como também mudou o conceito de cores e de produtos oferecidos pelo espaço. Em pouco tempo, tudo se transformava. Me peguei em meio a essa transformação, quando de alguma maneira que já não lembro mais, assumi o trabalho com as crianças, o qual Si Fu nomeou "Siu Ye Kuen.". Ao final de um workshop, ficara estabelecido que eu trabalharia com crianças e no portão do local, fui convidado para coordenar as práticas coletivas também. Em outros horários, acompanharia Si Suk Ursula nas sessões de "Ving Tsun Experience". Ali, começava minha carreira.

Si Fu went far beyond simple support. He redesigned from the logo of the place, but also changed the concept of colors and products offered by space. In a little while, everything changed. I caught myself through this transformation, when in some way I no longer remember, I took up the work with the children, which Si Fu named "Siu Ye Kuen." At the end of a workshop, it was established that I would work with kids and at the front gate of the place, I was invited to coordinate collective practices as well. At other times, I would accompany Si Suk Ursula in the "Ving Tsun Experience" sessions. There, I started my career.

Ainda lembro com saudades dos dias de altas aventuras, quando as Sextas trabalhava com as crianças. Não me recordo de outro período no qual precisei trabalhar profundamente minha criatividade. As crianças perdem o interesse em questão de segundos, e estar apto a ajustar o plano rapidamente é fundamental para ter sua atenção .
Si Fu, dava todo o suporte que precisava, isso consistia em me dar carta branca para fazer o que quisesse. Na época, não entendia bem dessa forma, e as vezes sentia falta de uma participação maior dele. Hoje, vejo o quão valioso foi, o espaço que ele me deu.


I still remember the days of high adventures, when Fridays worked with the children. I do not remember another period when I had to work hard on my creativity. Children lose interest in a matter of seconds, and being able to adjust the plan quickly is critical to getting their attention.
Si Fu, he gave all the support he needed, that was giving me carte blanche to do whatever I wanted. At the time, he did not quite understand that way, and sometimes he missed his bigger share. Today, I see how valuable it was, the space he gave me.

Si Fu dizia que 40 minutos eram suficientes para a prática com as crianças. Eu resolvi arriscar e esse trabalho tinha a duração de duas horas seguidas. Era tudo tão divertido, que não percebíamos a hora passar. E entre workshops e sessões, Raphael Caputo, Lucas Eustáquio, Rodrigo Caputo e Thiago Thiers foram os primeiros praticantes desta nova turma.

Si Fu said that 40 minutes was enough to practice with the children. I decided to take the risk and this practice lasted two hours in a row. It was all so much fun that we did not realize the time was ticking. And between workshops and sessions, Raphael Caputo, Lucas Eustaquio, Rodrigo Caputo and Thiago Thiers were the first practitioners of this new class.

Uma semana depois de Raphael e Rodrigo começarem, Si Fu fez sua primeira visita oficial ao local. Naqueles tempos, eu já estava cuidando de todas as atividades do local por conta da gravidez de Si Suk Ursula . Ela seguia coordenando as sessões, mas em muitas oportunidades eu ficava sozinho com os novos membros do espaço, até que ela precisou se afastar quando Rebeka nasceu.
Nesta visita, Si Fu palestrou sobre temas relacionados ao Ving Tsun para os pais dos praticantes, crianças e os próprios praticantes. Foi um grande marco no Ving Tsun naquele bairro.

A week after Raphael and Rodrigo started, Si Fu made his first official visit to the place. In those days, I was already taking care of all the activities of the place because of the pregnancy of Si Suk Ursula. She continued to coordinate the sessions, but many times I was alone with the new members of the space, until she had to move away when Rebeka was born.
On this visit, Si Fu lectured on themes related to the Ving Tsun for the parents of practitioners, children and the practitioners themselves. It was a big landmark in Ving Tsun in that neighborhood.

Guilherme de Farias "Moy Faat Lin" me ajudava toda a Sexta-feira, e num dia quando cheguei no quintal daquele imóvel, me deparei com um grupo de quatro jovens ouvindo Rock alto com os pés sobre as mesas. Sem falar com nenhum deles, me dirigi até o Guilherme e perguntei quem era. - "Um deles é irmão do Marcelo que começou a praticar e trouxe os amigos pra conhecerem". Todos aqueles garotos, eram alunos em potencial. Achei que precisava mais do que conversar , cativá-los com uma demonstração. Subimos, e quem fez a demonstração foi o próprio Guilherme. Todos ficaram encantados e começaram a praticar. Daquela turma, Felipe Teixeira entraria na Família Kung Fu junto de Luciano Freitas, Erika Carvalho, Pedro Correa e Vitor Lopes um ano depois.

Without speaking to any of them, I went to Guilherme and asked who they were. - "One of them is Marcelo's brother who started practicing and brought friends to attend the classes." All those kids were potential students. I thought I needed more than talking, to captivating them with a demonstration. We went up stairs, and the demonstrator was Guilherme himself. Everyone was delighted and began to practice. From that group, Felipe Teixeira would enter the Kung Fu Family together with Luciano Freitas, Erika Carvalho, Pedro Correa and Vitor Lopes a year later.

Para complementar a ambiência, eu sempre levava minha TV de 14" , o Luk Dim Bun Gwaan, fotos, livros e inclusive o "Muk Yan Jong" doado por Si Fu. Eu realmente acreditava que era necessário ir além do convencional com as crianças e pesar bastante a mão no lúdico, para que a cada semana, eles pudessem ter mais um momento inesquecível relacionado ao Kung Fu.

Tendo isso em vista, propus a Si Fu que fizéssemos um evento de integração entre os membros do "Siu Ye Kuen" do Méier e da Barra. Meu Si hing Leo Reis, cuidava das turmas do Núcleo Barra. Então começávamos o dia com um café da manhã e praticávamos até a tarde almoçando também no Mo Gun.

With this in view, I proposed to Si Fu that we should make an integration event between the members of Siu Ye Kuen of Méier and Barra. My Si hing Leo Reis, took care of the classes of the Barra School. So we would start the day with breakfast and practice until the afternoon having lunch at the Mo Gun.

O primeiro café-da-manhã(foto) foi um pouco mais vazio. Sabe, acho que às vezes as pessoas precisam ver a coisa configurada para que possam passar a apoiar. Si Fu costuma dar seu apoio de forma incondicional desde o primeiro momento, e com ele, aprendi a usar das pessoas mais próxima num primeiro momento até que os demais adiram ao projeto. Quando nem isso acontece, eu faço sozinho, o importante é não desistir da ideia.

The first breakfast(photo) was a bit more empty. You know, I think sometimes people need to see the thing set up so they can come to support. Si Fu usually gives his support unconditionally from the first moment, and with him, I learned to use the people closest at first until the others join the project. When it does not even happen, I do it alone, the important thing is not to give up the idea.

Na visita do ano seguinte(foto), todo o Mo Gun participou. E isso só engrandeceu o projeto! É muito importante levar adiante algo pelo que você é apaixonado. Você não precisará nem mesmo se esforçar, porque estará tão empenhado no que estará fazendo, que não ficará satisfeito com pouco. E acredite, as pessoas para as quais você estará fazendo tudo isso sentirão esse carinho.

On the following year's visit(foto), all Mo Gun participated. And that only made the project bigger. It is very important to carry out something that you are passionate about. You will not even have to strain yourself, because you will be so engaged in what you will be doing, that you will not be satisfied with little. And believe me, the people to whom you will be doing all this will feel this affection.

Dessas turmas do Siu Ye Kuen, entraram na Família em 2010 e 2011: Lucas Reis, Lucas Eustáquio, Raphael Caputo, Jade Camacho, Maria Alice Teixeira e Rodrigo Caputo.
Todas estas crianças hoje já estão com 18 anos ou mais, e cada uma delas, se lembra com carinho destas Sextas e Sábados do final dos anos 2000.

From these Siu Ye Kuen classes, joined the Family in 2010 and 2011: Lucas Reis, Lucas Eustaquio, Raphael Caputo, Jade Camacho, Maria Alice Teixeira and Rodrigo Caputo.
All of these children today are already 18 years old or older, and each one of them remembers fondly these Fridays and Saturdays of the late 2000s.

Importante ressaltar a participação estratégica de Si Fu em todo este primeiro ciclo de três anos do "Siu Ye Kuen" na Barra e no Méier. A sua posição de deixar as decisões serem tomadas por aqueles que coordenam o trabalho e se responsabilizando junto deles quando algo não vai bem, é fundamental , para que o potencial seja aproveitado das formas mais diferentes, exatamente porque seu grande autor não busca a autoria em momento algum.

It is important to highlight the strategic participation of Si Fu throughout this first three-year cycle of "Siu Ye Kuen" in Barra and Méier. His position of letting decisions be made by those who coordinate the work and taking responsibility for them when something is not going well is fundamental, so that the potential is taken advantage of in the most different ways, precisely because its great author does not seek authorship in any moment.
