PALESTRA SOBRE BRUCE LEE E O QUE É KUNG FU (Lecture on Bruce Lee´s Life: Whats Kung Fu?)

Quando ainda funcionávamos numa escola de Dança na Rua Vilela Tavares sob a alcunha de "Unidade Méier", a ambiência subjetiva que compõe um Mo Gun era inexistente. Sempre que começávamos as práticas nas salas maiores, retirávamos quadro a quadro com motivos de dança e ballet para se tornar ao menos um local mais neutro e trazer esse símbolo àqueles que preparavam o local.

When we were still running in a dance school on Vilela Tavares Street under the name "Méier Studio", the subjective ambiance that makes up a Mo Gun was non-existent. Whenever we started practicing in the larger rooms, we would take off the wall frame-by-frame the dance and ballet pictures to become at least a more neutral place and bring that symbol to those who prepared the place.

Então era por isso que eu me esforçava tanto, para trazer aos membros da Unidade Méier, que na época eram Lucas Eustáquio, Raphael Caputo e Rodrigo Caputo, um pouco dessa ambiência subjetiva. Então , você podia me ver chegando vez ou outra com uma TV de 14'' e um DVD para exibir um filme ou levando algum outro material. E de forma embrionária, isso passou a ser parte da cultura do Ving Tsun do Méier.

So that was why I tried so hard to bring to the members of the former Méier Studio, which at that time were only Lucas Eustaquio, Raphael Caputo and Rodrigo Caputo, a little of this subjective ambience. So you could see me coming in with a 14 "TV and a DVD to watch a movie or take some other material. And in an embryonic way, this became part of the culture of Ving Tsun in Méier.

Em 08 de Abril de 2011 (foto) , no primeiro dia de funcionamento da sala onde até hoje é baseado nosso Mo Gun. Si Fu ministrou uma palestra.Levaram refrigerantes e snacks . E mais uma vez, na falta de ambiência, fizemos nosso melhor.

On April 8, 2011 (photo), on the first day of operation of the room where until today is based our Mo Gun. Si Fu gave a lecture. They brought out soft drinks and snacks. And again, in the lack of ambience, we did our best.

In those times of high adventures, I had just lived a setback in my life, a true ground-breaker that took me there. And just as a curiosity, above there is a promotional video of this first talk, completely influenced by my moment of overcoming .. (laughs) Today is even fun to watch.  In this video you see my former bedroom in my mom´s house and the stuff there.

Levando todos estes aspectos em conta, me lembrei do aniversário do falecimento de Bruce Lee, se não me engano pelo "Blog do Dido" , que é escrito por um To Dai do Si Fu Marcos de Abreu da Linhagem Li Hon Ki. No momento em que vi a postagem, me veio à mente a ideia de fazer um revival desse espírito que nasceu a quase dez anos atrás, e agora já com uma robusta ambiência tanto objetiva quanto subjetiva , fazer uma palestra sobre a vida e a obra de Bruce Lee com um estudo comparativo entre seus filmes e os da franquia "O Grande Mestre".

Taking all these aspects into account, I remembered the anniversary of the death of Bruce Lee, if I am not mistaken by " Blog do Dido", which is written by a To Dai of Si Fu Marcos de Abreu from Li Hon Ki Lineage. The moment I saw the post, I came to mind the idea of a revival of this spirit that was born almost ten years ago, and now with a robust ambience both objective and subjective,I put on the table a lecture on the life and work of Bruce Lee with a comparative study between his films and those of the franchise "Ip Man".

Levei minha chamada "maleta do Gato Felix"(risos) e de lá retirei uma série de objetos físicos relacionados aos temas que tratávamos(foto). Resultado de anos de Vida Kung Fu, e de alguns materiais confiados à mim por Si Fu e Si Gung como acervo. Para os presentes, dentre eles irmãos Kung Fu de longa data como Luciano Freitas e um caçulinha João Pedro com seus familiares, além de To Dai e membros do Ving Tsun Experience, a oportunidade de tocar nesses objetos foi fundamental.

I took my so-called "Felix Cat's suitcase" (laughs) and from there I removed a series of physical objects related to the themes we were dealing with (photo). The result of years of Kung Fu Life, and some materials entrusted to me by Si Fu and Si Gung as a legacy. For those present, among them long-time Kung Fu brothers like Luciano Freitas and a young  one ,João Pedro with his family, as well as To Dai and members of Ving Tsun Experience, the opportunity to touch these objects was fundamental.

Talvez não tenha tido nenhum outro objeto que mexeu mais com os presentes do que as luvas usadas por Bruce Lee em "Operação Dragão" (Enter the Dragon, 1973) e dadas a mim pelo Si Gung em 2012. Jaqueline Tergolina(foto), minha To Dai mais antiga, assim como muitos outros, posaram com as luvas.

Perhaps there was no other object that moved people more  than the gloves used by Bruce Lee in "Enter the Dragon" (1973) and given to me by Si Gung in 2012. Jaqueline Tergolina (photo), my To Dai , as well as many others, posed with the gloves.

Já o casal de To Dai , Luiz Grativol e Carol Mota(foto), quase se abraçaram junto as luvas (risos) e publicaram a foto dividindo a imagem com Bruce Lee usando as mesmas no filme.
Para mim, isso é um fenômeno sem precedentes, pois Jaqueline, nascida em 1962 , viveu a época da febre do Bruce Lee , inclusive com tudo em que ela se desdobrou como a saudosa "Sessão Faixa-Preta" que passava a noite na TV. Porém, Luiz nascido em 1990 e Carol nascida em 1997 , nasciam décadas depois do falecimento de dele.
De fato, não consigo imaginar outro ator que tenha tido tamanho impacto no imaginário de praticantes e entusiastas das artes marciais depois de tanto tempo.

To Dai's couple, Luiz Grativol and Carol Mota (photo above), almost hugged together with the gloves (laughs) and published the photo sharing the image with Bruce Lee using the same in the film.
For me, this is an unprecedented phenomenon, because for Jaqueline Tergolina, born in 1962, she lived the Bruce Lee fever, including everything that unfolded as the longing "Black Belt Session" that was on brazilian TV in the early 80's. However, Luiz was born in 1990 and Carol was born in 1997, they were born decades after the death of Bruce Lee.
In fact, I can not imagine another actor who has had such an impact on the imagery of martial artists and enthusiasts after so long.

Por fim, a 9 anos atrás, jogava ao chão na frente de Si Fu uma caixa de papelão da empresa JUGUI com uma série de equipamentos de proteção que foram usados pelos Núcleos Barra, Méier e Copacabana em diferentes oportunidades. - "Si Fu, olha só!" - Disse eu animado e incrédulo, pois havia promovido um rateio histórico entre os membros do Núcleo Barra para comprar o equipamento, já que as práticas de Quarta estavam ficando mais aguerridas. - "Sabe qual o nome disso , Thiago?" - Me indagou Si Fu com um sorriso e uma das mãos em meu ombro. - "Não" - Respondi. - "Isso se chama Kung Fu." - Disse ele me dando um abraço.

Finally, 9 years ago, I threw a JUGUI enterprises cardboard box in front of Si Fu with a series of protective equipment for martial arts that would be used by Barra, Meier and Copacabana schools at different times. - "Si Fu, look!" - I said excitedly and incredulously, as I had promoted a historical apportionment among the members of the Barra School to buy the equipment, since the practices of Wednesdays nights were getting more heat-  "Do you know the name of this, Thiago?" - Si Fu asked me with a smile and a hand on my shoulder. - "I Dont know"- I answer.-  "That's called Kung Fu." - He said giving me a hug.

Por isso que pensando bem agora, enquanto dava sessões naquela grande sala vazia na escola de dança, não lembrei dessas palavras de Si Fu em momento algum, mas posso me orgulhar em dizer sem dúvidas que a lógica usada foi a mesma. Pois não se trata da quantidade de pessoas, mas da capacidade de gerar coisas.

That's why I'm thinking right now, whilewas promoting Ving Tsun in that big empty room at the dance school, I did not remember those words from Si Fu at all, but I can be proud to say without a doubt that the logic used was the same. For it is not the quantity of people, but the capacity to generate things.

And so we value this type of publication in our Clan. Because it could be on the next day, the next week or nine years later. You will have the opportunity, as you write, to recall a passage and re-signify it to the point of understanding nuances that were not previously able to be perceived.
