"BIU GWAAN" DEMONSTRATION AND UNIQUE CHANCE

Quando comecei a praticar o Ving Tsun, pensava que tudo o que mais queria, era aprender a praticar com o "boneco de madeira"(Muk Yan Jong). Porém, quando comecei o Domínio "Luk Din Bun Gwaan", percebi que esse seria meu Domínio preferido no Sistema Ving Tsun.
Ao longo dos anos, comecei a perceber a prática com armas como o "Ving Tsun Gwaan"(bastão do Ving Tsun), como um processo de transcendência do entendimento de nossos próprios corpos.
O Gwaan, permite muito facilmente que você veja o quanto um pequeno equívoco ao ficar em guarda, pode lhe custar caro. Por ele ser fino, qualquer erro de postura na posição de guarda, transforma você num alvo enorme.

When I started practicing Ving Tsun, I thought all I wanted to do was learn to practice with the "wooden dummy" (Muk Yan Jong). However, when I started the "Luk Din Bun Gwaan" Domain, I realized that this would be my favorite Domain in the Ving Tsun System.
Over the years, I began to perceive the practice with weapons like the "Ving Tsun Gwaan" (Ving Tsun staff) as a process of transcending the understanding of our own bodies.
The "Gwaan" allows you to easily see how much a small mistake when on guard can cost you. Because it is thin, any mistake in posture on guard position makes you a huge target.

Então foi nessa época que eu comecei a entender que não deveríamos escolher justificativas para nossos erros. Afinal, num caso de vida ou morte, depois que você morrer. Saber se foi culpa de alguém, não trará você de volta à vida.
Além dessa consideração, uma mais poderosa me tocou muito nesse processo: A ideia de que quando se dispara com o Gwaan (Biu Gwaan) é bom que se saiba o que está fazendo e que se acerte o alvo. Afinal, tudo que você gerou de condicionantes para o disparo, deve convergir na ponta do Gwaan no momento em que se atinge o alvo. Caso você erre, bom...Você dançou. Pois diferente das mãos, dependendo de qual instrumento seu adversário esteja usando, se ele vai estar com as mãos-livres ou não, e dependendo do seu nível de atenção no manejo do bastão ao final do disparo. Você pode não ter uma segunda chance.

Then it was around this time that I began to understand that we should not choose justifications for our mistakes. After all, in a case of life or death, after you die. Knowing if it was someone else's fault will not bring you back to life.
Beyond that consideration, a more powerful one touched me a lot in this process: The idea that when shooting with Gwaan (Biu Gwaan) it is good to know what you are doing and to hit the target. After all, everything you have generated from conditions to do the "Biu Gwaan", you must converge at the tip of the Gwaan in the moment you hit the target. If you make a mistake, well ... You ´re done. Because different from the free hands logic, depending on which instrument(weapon) your opponent is using, whether he will be hands free or not, and depending on your level of attention in the handling of the staff at the end of the shot. You may not have a second chance.

Então sabe de uma coisa? A vida também é assim. Às vezes, temos apenas uma chance mesmo. Gaste  sua chance, e veja o que acontece. Então, por conta disso, comecei  a entender a importância de não se baixar a guarda. Porque estar em guarda, não é apenas uma questão de assumir uma posição com as mãos ou com uma arma como o "Gwaan". É um estado de espírito. E quem não tem "espírito de luta", não consegue sobreviver por muito tempo, sem que seja sob proteção.

So you know what? Life is like that too. Sometimes we only have one chance at all. Spend your chance, and see what happens. So because of that, I began to understand the importance of not letting my guard down. Because being on guard is not just a matter of taking a position with your hands or a weapon like the "Gwaan". It is a state of mind. And who has no "fighting spirit" can not survive long without being under protection.



Muitas de minhas sessões de "Luk Din Bun Gwaan", contaram com a assistência de Si Suk Diego Guadelupe. Na ocasião em que esse vídeo foi filmado, estávamos sozinhos no Mo Gun, e ele resolveu fazer esse registro. Percebo que o movimento do "Biu Gwaan"(Disparo) estava lá, mas não o espírito apropriado.

Many of my "Luk Din Bun Gwaan" sessions were attended by Si Suk Diego Guadelupe. At the time this video was filmed, we were alone at Mo Gun, and he decided to record it. I realize that the movement of "Biu Gwaan" (Shot) was there, but not the proper spirit.
