Master Julio Camacho visits MYVT Meier School

 Durante sua estadia no Brasil durante o mês de Junho, também houve tempo para um momento muito especial com meu Si Fu no Mo Gun de minha Família Kung Fu. Pensando em priorizar os membros da minha Família Kung Fu, conversei com meus irmãos Kung Fu mais próximos, para explicar que preferiria deixar essa visita reservada aos meus alunos. Tiveram algumas exceções como o Rodrigo Moreira, que já frequenta o Mo Gun regularmente[E funcionaria como assistente do Si Fu na ocasião] e do próprio Marcelo Barreto. Marcelo retomou a prática tem alguns meses, mas sem muitas oportunidades de ter contato com o Si Fu. 

Desta forma, sabia que teríamos uma noite bem especial para a Família Moy Fat Lei. 

Esta visita ao Mo Gun da minha Família, teve uma série de camadas e de acontecimentos distintos e simultâneos. 

During his stay in Brazil during the month of June, there was also time for a very special moment with my Si Fu at the Mo Gun of my Kung Fu Family. Thinking about prioritizing the members of my Kung Fu Family, I talked to my closest Kung Fu brothers, to explain that I would prefer to make this visit reserved for my students only. There were some exceptions such as Rodrigo Moreira, who already attends the Mo Gun regularly [And would work as Si Fu's assistant at the time] and Marcelo Barreto himself. Marcelo resumed the practice a few months ago, but without many opportunities to have contact with Si Fu. In this way, he knew that we would have a very special night for the Moy Fat Lei Family.

This visit to my Family's Mo Gun had a series of layers and different and simultaneous events.

Por isso, uma série de reparos e mudanças em nosso Mo Gun foram promovidos, para que a partir disso os meus alunos pudessem interagir e a partir daí algum potencial ser aproveitado. Para mim, ao buscar o Si Fu na casa de sua mãe, mal sabia tudo o que aconteceria...

Acabei chegando com uma hora de antecedência e fiquei vendo vídeos do 'Britain´s Got Talent' enquanto esperava ele. Isso fez com que a bateria do meu carro parasse de funcionar 15 minutos antes dele descer. Precisei da ajuda do pessoal da segurança do prédio para empurrar o carro e faze-lo pegar no tranco. Quando o carro ligou, pensei: 'Ufa!'. - Porém, o principal estava ainda por vir, que foi a conversa que tivemos a caminho do Mo Gun. Pegamos toda a hora do rush, e foi o suficiente para conversarmos...

Therefore, a series of repairs and changes in our Mo Gun were promoted, so that from there my students could interact and from there some potential could be used. For me, when I was waiting for Si Fu at his mother´s house, I hardly knew everything that would happen...

I ended up arriving an hour early and was watching videos of 'Britain's Got Talent' while I waited for him. This caused my car battery to stop working 15 minutes before he went downstairs. I needed the help of the security people in the building to push the car and make it start in stride. When the car started, I thought: 'Phew!'. - However, the main thing was yet to come, which was the conversation we had on the way to the Mo Gun. We caught the whole rush hour, and it was enough for us to talk...

Eu havia pedido para o Si Fu trabalhar algo relacionado ao 'Cham Kiu' com meus alunos. Sabia que diferente de mim, Si Fu iria fundo na essência do Cham Kiu, por um caminho bem diferente do meu insistente didatismo[Ainda muito presente nesse momento da minha carreira].

Si Fu costuma primeiro propor algo que o permita avaliar o quanto as pessoas estão realizadas sobre aquilo que ele vai falar. Ao perceber algum nível de confusão entre assuntos ou imprecisão no uso das palavras, ele aprofunda-se mais nesses aspectos. Depois, ele faz a mesma abordagem essencial na prática. 

E assim foi nossa conversa... Geralmente as conversas com Si Fu comigo vinham tendo uma abordagem para reflexão a partir de uma fala edificante. Desta vez não foi bem assim... Alguns temas baseados em imprecisões, precisavam ser acertados e alinhados. Por ainda estar confundindo alguns tópicos, Si Fu fez questão de ficar comigo por mais quarenta minutos dentro do carro parado na porta do Mo Gun no Méier. E além disso, foi uma conversa na qual pude me expressar também...

I had asked Si Fu to work on something related to 'Cham Kiu' with my students. I knew that, unlike me, Si Fu would go deep into the essence of Cham Kiu, in a very different way from my insistent didacticism [Still very present at this point in my career].

Si Fu usually first proposes something that allows him to assess how much people are aware with what he is going to say. When noticing some level of confusion between subjects or imprecision in the use of words, he delves deeper into these aspects. Then he takes the same essential approach in practice.

And  so was our conversation... Usually the conversations with Si Fu with me had an approach to reflection based on an edifying speech. This time it wasn't quite like that... Some themes based on inaccuracies needed to be fixed and aligned. Because I was still confusing some topics, Si Fu insisted on staying with me for another forty minutes inside the car stopped at the door of the Mo Gun in Méier. And besides, it was a conversation in which I could express myself too...

Muita gente em nosso Clã acha que 'No Cham Kiu não se golpeia'... - De fato, não há qualquer Jiu Sik presente no Cham Kiu com característica ofensiva a meu ver. Porém, não se trata disso, a questão é que o braço de cima que projeta o ponto de referencia médio, através do contato com o braço do outro permite com que a distancia seja mantida para as duas partes. Essa sensibilidade, faz com que o conceito de transpor o ponto de referencia médio após ocupá-lo, aconteça de maneira legitima. Você não transpõe porque golpeou, mas por que a possibilidade lhe foi oferecida. O contrário disso, talvez fosse passar dos limites estabelecidos pelo outro, e abusar da relação. 

Quando voltávamos no carro, também falamos sobre isso. Estou junto com o Si Fu tem 23 anos... Isso é muita coisa... Alguns alunos tinham 2 anos de idade quando eu já seguia o Si Fu, outros nem tinham nascido. Relações muito longas tem seus diferentes momentos. Mas naquele dia, Si Fu falou sobre 'limites' na volta pra casa. Mas acho aquilo que mais me tocou dentro dessa conversa, foi quando ele falou da necessidade de atualizar quem nós somos agora. E da impossibilidade dele ser quem já foi. Bom, não foi bem isso que ele disse mas foi o que ficou para mim. 

Muita gente costuma me elogiar pela minha hiperminesia recorrente, mas por outro lado, ela traz a dificuldade em alguns momentos de 'atualizar' as coisas... 

O Cham Kiu propõe uma movimentação constante, não só dos braços[como no Siu Nim Tau], mas ele apresenta uma maior complexidade ao lidarmos com movimentos lineares e de angulação em função do outro. Se ficarmos presos ao movimento anterior ou refletirmos demais sobre o seguinte, 'matamos' o movimento em si. É difícil, mas não impossível... Acho que eu e meus alunos, tivemos uma grande oportunidade relacionada ao Cham Kiu com o Si Fu naquela noite...

Many people in our Clan think that 'In Cham Kiu one does not strike'... - In fact, there is no Jiu Sik present in Cham Kiu with offensive characteristics in my opinion. However, this is not the case, the point is that the upper arm that projects the middle reference point, through contact with the other's arm, allows the distance to be maintained for both parties. This sensitivity makes the concept of transposing the average reference point after occupying the center legit. You do not transpose because you wanna hit, but because the possibility was offered to you. The opposite of that, maybe it would be going beyond the limits established by the other, and abusing the relationship.

When we got back in the car, we talked about it too. I'm with Si Fu for 23 years now... That's a lot... Some students were 2 years old when I was already following Si Fu, others weren't even born. Very long relationships have their different moments. But that day, Si Fu talked about 'limits' on the way home. But I think what touched me the most in this conversation was when he spoke of the need to update who we are now. And the impossibility of him being who he once was. Well, that's not what he said, but that's what I got.

A lot of people usually praise me for my recurrent hyperminesia, but on the other hand, it makes it difficult at times to 'update' things...

Cham Kiu proposes a constant movement, not only of the arms [as in the Siu Nim Tau], but it presents a greater complexity when dealing with linear and angular movements depending on the other. If we get stuck on the previous movement or think too much about the next one, we 'kill' the movement itself. It's difficult, but not impossible... I think my students and I had a great opportunity related to Cham Kiu with Si Fu that night...
