From the struggle to happiness: the daughters of Master Julio Camacho.

 

“... Existe um Caminho...E você sabe que Caminho é esse e o que você deveria estar fazendo. E é difícil permanecer neste Caminho, pois é um Caminho de disciplina e desconforto, mas é o 'Caminho certo' e você sabe disso. E é este o Caminho que vai levá-lo onde você quer estar em definitivo, de maneira com que você possa viver e morrer sem arrependimentos..” (Jocko Willink).

“…There is a Path… And you know which Path it is and what you should be doing. And it is difficult to stay on this Path as it is a Path of discipline and discomfort, but it is the 'Right Path' and you know it. And this is the Path that will lead you where you ultimately want to be, so that you can live and die without regrets .. ”(Jocko Willink).

Recentemente recebemos uma visita relâmpago da minha Si Mo[師母] e nos foi possível encontrá-la no aeroporto internacional do Rio de Janeiro[FOTO]. E sua visita tinha como objetivo principal, acompanhar a filha mais nova de Si Fu para os EUA. 

Eu sai do Mo Gun no bairro do Méier com alguns de meus alunos e chegamos razoavelmente cedo no aeroporto, apesar de ser uma noite de Sexta-feira. Eu havia estado também na noite do embarque da Jade[filha mais velha de Si Fu] alguns meses antes. 

We recently received a lightning visit from my Si Mo[師母] and we were able to meet her at the international airport of Rio de Janeiro[PHOTO]. And her visit had as its main objective, to accompany Si Fu's youngest daughter to the US.

I left Mo Gun in the Meier district with some of my students and arrived at the airport reasonably early, despite it being a Friday night. I had also been on the night of Jade's [Si Fu's oldest daughter] departure a few months earlier.

No momento em que Jade tentou embarcar[primeira foto], uma documentação ficou pendente, e ela precisou voltar para casa. Fiquei bem frustrado naquele momento. Por isso, quando chegou a vez da Julia[foto], eu estava bem apreensivo. Afinal, por conta de toda esta questão da pandemia, o processo de entrada nos EUA se tornou ainda mais delicado. Então acompanhava de perto a Si Mo e a Julia na área de embarque, e foram longos minutos até que a autorização da empresa aérea e também da imigração, dessem o 'OK'.

By the time Jade tried to board[first photo above], documentation was pending, and she had to go home. I was pretty frustrated at that point. So when Julia's turn came, I was quite apprehensive. After all, because of this whole pandemic issue, the process of entering the US has become even more delicate. So I followed closely Si Mo and Julia in the departure area, and it took long minutes until the authorization from the airline and immigration gave the 'OK'.

Estive com Jade algumas vezes logo depois da partida do Si Fu para os EUA. Eu, ela e Julia voltamos de carro do aeroporto até a casa delas. Por conta do horário, pedia que a Jade não dirigisse tão devagar e nem parasse em qualquer sinal. Em determinado momento ela achou que fosse melhor se eu dirigisse seu carro. Além disso, percebia por vezes, um grande cuidado da Jade com relação ao COVID-19, já que ela convivia com constância com seus avós. 

Portanto, fiquei muito feliz quando a Jade embarcou, tanto porque ela poderia passar um bom tempo em um lugar mais tranquilo quanto poderia também se vacinar[foto].

I saw Jade a few times right after Si Fu left for the US. She, Julia and I drove back from the airport to their house. Due to the noght time, I asked Jade not to drive so slowly or stop at any traffic sign. At one point she thought it would be better if I drove her car. In addition, I sometimes noticed that Jade was very careful with COVID-19, as she was constantly  with her grandparents.

So I was very happy when Jade boarded, both because she could spend a lot of time in a not so violent place and she could also get vaccinated [photo].

Quando a Julia embarcou, não restavam dúvidas de que conseguiria se vacinar[FOTO] também e que teria bons momentos em família. No caso do embarque dela, eu pensava mais no Si Fu e no quão feliz ele ficaria. Afinal, ele havia acabado de passar por um procedimento cirúrgico consideravelmente sério, e a presença das duas filhas, da sua mãe e da Si Mo. Provavelmente lhe trariam momentos de felicidade.

When Julia boarded, there was no doubt that she would be able to get vaccinated [PHOTO] too and that she would have good times with her family. In the case of her boarding, I thought more about Si Fu and how happy he would be. After all, he had just gone through a pretty serious surgical procedure, and the presence of his two daughters, his mother and Si Mo. They would probably bring him moments of happiness.

Então no dia da Independência dos EUA que acontece no dia 04 de Julho. Si Fu surgiu com a ideia das “quatro do Julio”. As quatro mulheres que vem lhe dando todo o suporte nesse momento da recuperação plena de sua saúde. De fato, lhe chama a atenção o amadurecimento de suas filhas[com destaque para a Julia]. Por ser adolescente, talvez o esperado fosse que ela estivesse lhe dando mais trabalho. Porém, ao contrário disso, ela lhe dá suporte junto de sua irmã Jade. 

Then on US Independence Day which takes place on the 4th of July. Si Fu came up with the idea of the “four of Julio”[Because 'July' in portuguese sounds the same as 'Julio']. The four women who have been giving him all the support in this moment of full recovery of his health. In fact, the maturing of his daughters, especially Julia, catches his attention. Because being a teenager, perhaps the expected was that she was giving him more problems. However, on the contrary, she supports him with her sister Jade.

Muitos disseram da sorte que Si Fu teve viver nos EUA enquanto teve esse problema de saúde, pois lhe foi possível receber um atendimento que talvez no Brasil, não lhe fosse possível. Antes disso, disseram que foi sorte estar vivendo nos EUA e poder tomar as duas doses da vacina rapidamente. A verdade é que muitos ao terem acabado de mudar de país e descobrirem que estava iniciada uma pandemia mundial, voltariam aos seus países de origem imediatamente. 

Vivendo sob uma coerência por vezes quase incompreensivel. Si Fu acreditou no Caminho que havia escolhido trilhar. Não sabia o que lhe aguardava a frente. Finalmente, houve a possibilidade de vacinar suas duas filhas e viver com sua mãe por seis meses... Então ele refletiu: “...Quando as suas decisões, por mais inusitadas que possam parecer, possibilitam as pessoas mais importantes da sua vida, o que mais importa... ”.

Many said how lucky Si Fu had to live in the US while he had this health problem, as he was able to receive care that perhaps in Brazil was not possible for him. Before that, they said he was lucky to be living in the US and to be able to get both doses of vaccine quickly. The truth is that many people, having just moved to another country and discovering that a global pandemic had started, would return to their countries of origin immediately.

Living under a coherence that is sometimes almost incomprehensible, Si Fu believed in the Path he had chosen to walk. He didn't know what lay ahead. Finally, there was the possibility of vaccinating his two daughters, living with his mother for six months... Then he reflected: “...When your decisions, however unusual they may seem, make the most important people in your life possible, what matters most...”.

E depois de exatos 505 dias de espera por momentos como esse[foto]... Se é a disciplina ou o comprometimento, que dão a capacidade a alguém de seguir seu Caminho por mais difícil ou desconfortável que seja, só uma coisa é certa no caso do SiFu: “sempre foi sorte”.

And after exactly 505 days of waiting for moments like this [photo]... Whether it's discipline or commitment, which gives someone the ability to follow one´s Path, no matter how difficult or uncomfortable it may be, only one thing is certain: In the case of SiFu: “it was always a matter og luck”.
