Ving Tsun Experience 'Level 4' in the Moy Fat Lei Family.

Eu tive contato pela primeira vez com um Seminário do Nível 4 do Programa Ving Tsun Experience no ano de 2015. Era o dia seguinte a Cerimonia de Titulação de Mestre que me qualificava junto de meu Si Hing Leonardo Reis. E talvez pelo cansaço acumulado ou por ter que dar atenção ao pedido do almoço e outros pormenores, foi como se eu não tivesse estado lá. Pouco tempo depois, uma praticante do Núcleo Méier na época alcançou este Nível dentro do Ving Tsun Experience. E a experiência que eu promovi foi bem abaixo de qualquer medida mínima. 

A cada semana, um sentimento de incompetência me incomodava mais. Infelizmente, esta praticante se afastou. E foi só em 2017, no Núcleo Copacabana, que pude revisar com mais atenção o que havia visto em vídeo graças ao Si Suk Felipe em 2013 e mais tarde ao vivo no Seminário em 2015. Naquela oportunidade, já estava com a sequencia de movimentos chamada ‘Siu Nim Do’ na modalidade ‘Jong Faat’, bem gravada em minha memória, por isso participei da demonstração. 

Recentemente, três praticantes do Núcleo Méier começaram novamente a praticar neste Nível. E graças a dedicação dos últimos anos, diferente da primeira oportunidade, temos conseguido avançar de forma muito especial com este trabalho. Nestes momentos o que me resta é torcer, para que aquela primeira praticante retorne um dia, de maneira com que eu possa ter uma segunda oportunidade fazer esse trabalho com ela. 

Quando falamos no ideograma ‘Faat 法’ dentro de uma perspectiva gramatical do círculo marcial chinês, é difícil alcançarmos uma tradução. Dependendo do contexto, uma das minhas preferidas é ‘Via’. Porem, quando falamos em um Sistema de Variação como o Sistema Ving Tsun, intuímos que este seja composto por diferentes fases, naturezas e modalidades. E quando falamos em ‘modalidade’, estamos nos referindo ao que estamos lidando. Se o trabalho envolve apenas o uso do próprio corpo e nenhum instrumento externo a esse, chamamos de ‘Kuen Faat 拳法’. ‘Kuen 拳’, ainda que signifique ‘punho’, neste caso é um jargão para se referir ao uso do próprio corpo. E ‘Faat 法’ seria ‘modalidade’.  De todo modo, esta tradução é irrelevante. Afinal, podemos considerar ‘Kuen Faat 拳法’ como ‘Mãos Livres’ neste contexto.  E por conseguinte, quando usamos as ferramentas do Domínio Mui Fa Jong, a modalidade a ser trabalhada será ‘Jong Faat 樁法’. 

I had contact for the first time with a Level 4 Seminar of the Ving Tsun Experience Program in 2015. It was the day after the Master's Degree Ceremony that qualified me and my Si Hing Leonardo Reis. And maybe due to accumulated tiredness or having to pay attention to the lunch order and other details, it was as if I hadn't been there. Shortly thereafter, a practitioner from the Méier School wich I run, at the time reached this Level within the Ving Tsun Experience. And the experience that I promoted was well below any minimum measure.

Each week, a feeling of incompetence bothered me more. Unfortunately, this practitioner has went away. And it was only in 2017, at Copacabana School, that I was able to review more carefully what I had seen on video thanks to Si Suk Felipe in 2013 and later live at the Seminar in 2015. At that time, I already had the sequence of movements called 'Siu Nim Do' in the 'Jong Faat' mode, well recorded in my memory, so I participated in the demonstration.

Recently, three practitioners from the Méier School began to practice at this Level again. And thanks to the dedication of the last few years, unlike the first opportunity, we have been able to advance in a very special way with this work. In these moments, what I have left is to hope that that first practitioner will return one day, so that I can have a second chance to do this work with her.

When we speak of the ‘Faat 法’ ideogram within a grammatical perspective of the Chinese martial circle, it is difficult to achieve a translation. Depending on the context, one of my favorites is ‘Way’. However, when we talk about a Variation System like the Ving Tsun System, we intuit that it is composed of different phases, natures and modalities. And when we talk about ‘modality’, we’re referring to what we’re dealing with. If the work involves only the use of the body itself and no instrument external to it, we call it ‘Kuen Faat 拳法’. ‘Kuen 拳’, even though it means ‘fist’, in this case it is jargon to refer to the use of the body itself. And ‘Faat 法’ would be ‘modality’. In any case, this translation is irrelevant. After all, we can consider ‘Kuen Faat 拳法’ as ‘Free Hands’ in this context. And therefore, when we use the tools of the Mui Fa Jong Domain, the modality to be worked on will be ‘Jong Faat 樁 法’.

O trabalho do ‘Jong Faat 樁法’ no Sistema Ving Tsun, apesar de despertar fantasias nos mais diversos entusiastas, tem uma compreensão desafiadora. Por isso, mesmo dezoito anos após ter tido acesso ao Domínio ‘Mui Fa Jong’, tem sido através da transmissão do Nível 4 do Ving Tsun Experience que alguns ‘insights’ tem me ocorrido. Consigo perceber através de meus alunos, nuances que até este momento seguiam escondidas para mim. Então, é como se essa sequência de movimentos do Nível 4, me permitisse uma ressignificação da minha própria percepção do Domínio Mui Fa Jong. 

Si Gung ajustou o ‘Siu Nim Do’ criado por Si Taai Gung Moy Yat para uso no ‘boneco de madeira’. Foram necessários sete anos desde meu primeiro contato com esse ajuste, para que eu pudesse passar a apreciar a inteligência com a qual o mesmo foi desenvolvido. Desta maneira assim como quando pisei pela primeira vez num Mo Gun em Abril de 1999, e vi um ‘Boneco de madeira’ ao vivo pela primeira vez, fazendo meu coração pular. Vinte e um anos depois, tenho tido a mesma sensação a cada nova descoberta. Sem dúvidas, a maior recompensa é o sentimento de estar promovendo um trabalho digno. Você sente que o praticante está curtindo, está apreciando o desafio. A frustração está lá, mas ela passa a ser percebida como uma pista, uma espécie de indício... E o final da prática, passa ser como o final de um episódio de alguma série semanal. Você quer voltar na próxima semana, para descobrir o que vem depois. É bem legal. Tem sido uma ótima experiência como profissional.

The work of ‘Jong Faat 樁 法’ in the Ving Tsun System, despite arousing fantasies among the most diverse enthusiasts, has a challenging understanding. So, even eighteen years after I had access to the ‘Mui Fa Jong’ Domain, it has been through the transmission of Level 4 of the Ving Tsun Experience that some ‘insights’ have occurred to me. I can see through my students, nuances that until now have been hidden from me. So, it is as if this sequence of movements of Level 4, allowed me to refram my own perception of the Mui Fa Jong Domain.

Si Gung adjusted the ‘Siu Nim Do’ created by Si Taai Gung Moy Yat for use on the ‘wooden dummy’. It took seven years since my first contact with this adjustment, so that I could start to appreciate the intelligence with which it was developed. This way, just like when I first stepped on a Mo Gun in April 1999, and saw a ‘Wooden Dummy’ live for the first time, making my heart jump. Twenty-one years later, I have had the same feeling with each new discovery. Without a doubt, the biggest reward is the feeling of promoting a decent work. You feel that the practitioner is enjoying, is enjoying the challenge. The frustration is there, but it starts to be perceived as a clue, a kind of indication ... And the end of the practice, it becomes like the end of an episode of a weekly series. You want to come back next week, to find out what's next. It's pretty cool. It has been a great experience as a professional.
