MYVT Copacabana : Last day of the visit of Grand Master Leo

Eu costumo dizer que quando se está com muito , muito sono. Para se continuar acordada
o você precisa passar por duas etapas: A primeira, é quando o sono vem com tudo! Você sente como se precisasse deitar ali mesmo onde você está. Se você passar por essa etapa, você alcança a segunda. Nesta, começam as "alucinações". Você está numa situação e não sabe se está sonhando ou se está acordado. Além disso, seus olhos começam a fechar. Na sua perspectiva, você está desperto, mas todos ao redor estão lhe vendo fechando os olhos.
Bom, sentado ali ao lado de Helena, e sendo observado por Si Suk Ursula e Si Gung e todos os demais no momento de encerramento do evento. Posso dizer que tinha acabado de passar pela "fase 2"... (risos)...

I usually say that when you are very, very sleepy. To stay awake you need to go through two steps: The first is when sleep comes with everything! You feel like you need to lie right there where you are. If you go through this step, you reach the second. In this, the "hallucinations" begin. You are in a situation and you do not know if you are dreaming or if you are awake. Plus, your eyes start to close. In your perspective, you are awake, but everyone around you is seeing you closing your eyes.
Well, sitting there next to Helena, and being watched by Si Suk Ursula and Si Gung and everyone else at the closing time of the event. I can say that I just went through "phase 2" ... (laughs) ...

Aquele Domingo seria o último dia de evento com Si Gung. Jà sentia uma certa nostalgia, mas aquele dia para mim, se tornaria emblemático pois nunca imaginei que pudesse me superar daquela forma.
Havia combinado de pegar Si Suk Ursula em sua casa , na Zona Oeste, na manhã de Domingo. De lá, iríamos juntos até Copacabana para o café da manhã com Si Gung. Até aí tudo bem, caso eu tivesse dormido.
Estava acordado desde o dia anterior, quando por alguma razão passei muito mal e nada parava em meu estomago. Além disso, vinha virando outras noites por conta de trabalho.

That Sunday would be the last day of the event with Si Gung. I felt a certain nostalgia, but that day for me, it would become emblematic because I never imagined that I could surpass myself in that way.
I had arranged to take Si Suk Ursula at her house in the West Zone on Sunday morning. From there, we would go to Copacabana together for breakfast with Si Gung. So far so good, if I had slept.
I had been awake from the day before, when for some reason I was very sick and nothing was going on in my stomach. Besides, I had been staying awake for many nights for work.

No início dos anos 2000, Si Gung parecia um cara mais sério no meu ponto de vista. Parecia sempre não muito inclinado a brincadeiras. E lá, no ano de 2001, durante uma palestra em um evento na cidade de Niterói, ele disse algo que me marcou para sempre. Falou que só precisava dormir 30 minutos por dia.
Eu tinha 16 anos e quatrocentos filmes de Kung Fu completamente vívidos dentro de mim. Então você pode imaginar como isso me impactou. Ele concluiu que se dormisse por 30 minutos no horário em que de fato sentisse sono ao longo do dia. Não precisaria mais dormir.
Após aquele relato, passei a vasculhar qual o horário do dia eu sentia sono de fato, e finalmente consegui chegar a uma conclusão.

In the early 2000s, Si Gung seemed a more serious guy in my point of view. He always seemed not too inclined to play. And there, in the year 2001, during a lecture at an event in the city of Niteroi, he said something that marked me forever. He said he only needed to sleep 30 minutes a day.
I was 16 years old and used to have four hundred Kung Fu movies completely vivid inside me. So you can imagine how it impacted me. He concluded that he slept for 30 minutes at a time when he actually fell asleep throughout the day. He would not need sleep any more.
After that , I began to search what time of day I actually felt sleepy, and finally I came to a conclusion.

Anos mais tarde, em 2017, acompanhava Si Gung junto de André Almeida e Clayton Meireles em direção a Casa dos Discípulos num final de tarde de Domingo. Relatei essa história para ele, e entre as coisas que dizia comentou algo como: "... Você gosta de trabalhar a noite? Eu gosto... Gosto de saber que enquanto os outros estão dormindo eu estou aprendendo algo... Não gosto de dormir sem sentir que aprendi algo novo antes disso..." - Disse ele.

Years later, in 2017, I accompanied Si Gung along with André Almeida and Clayton Meireles towards the House of Disciples on a late Sunday afternoon. I told him this story, and among the things he said he commented something like: "... Do you like to work at night? I like ... I like to know that while others are sleeping I'm learning something ... I do not like to go sleep without feeling like I learned something new before that ... "- He said.

O dia seguia com atividades diversas e muito dinâmicas. Participei ativamente e pude trocar experiências com algumas pessoas pela primeira vez. Havia comentado com Bruno Linhares naquela manhã, que este tipo de evento para mim era sempre muito bom. Como era organizado pelo Núcleo Copacabana, eu podia curtir e contribuir da melhor forma possível, sem necessariamente estar na organização (risos).

The day followed with diverse and very dynamic activities. I participated actively and I was able to exchange experiences with some people for the first time. I had commented to Bruno Linhares that morning that this type of event for me was always very good. As it was organized by the MYVT Copacabana School, I could enjoy and contribute in the best possible way, without necessarily being in the organization (laughs).

Alguns dignatários estiveram presentes naquele dia como Mestre Felipe Soares, sua esposa Elisa Wanderley(foto) e o carismático Coronel Pedro Aurélio de Pessôa (foto de preto).

Ao final do dia, enquanto o Coronel Pedro falava suas impressões. Eu lutava ferozmente contra o sono. Precisava ainda ir ao aeroporto e levar Si Suk Ursula em segurança para casa. Pouco antes de sairmos, ela pediu que o Vitinho, seu To Dai, fosse no carro comigo. Quando sentamos no veículo e nos preparamos para sair, eu disse algo como: "Vitinho, conta sua vida para mim, eu estou com muito sono e não posso dormir. Mas você pode começar a partir de 2018 mesmo " - Ele riu e assim o fez. Entramos em assuntos a respeito de "Baai Si" e outros temas. Cheguei ao aeroporto e já me sentia mais desperto, tomei um café com Si Suk e seus To Dai, mas foi só entrar no carro para o sono voltar.

At the end of the day, as Colonel Pedro spoke his impressions. I fought fiercely against sleep. I still needed to go to the airport and take Si Suk Ursula safely home. Just before we left, she asked that Vitinho, her To Dai, be in the car with me. When we sat in the vehicle and prepared to leave, I said something like, "Vitinho, tell your life to me, I'm very sleepy and I can not sleep. But you can start from 2018  "- I laughed and so he did. We went into matters concerning "Baai Si" and other subjects. I arrived at the airport and I felt more awake, I had a coffee with Si Suk and her To Dai, but it was just getting in the car to sleep back.

Si Suk Ursula pediu para que parássemos na casa de meu Si Fu, onde sua filha Rebeka estava desde o dia anterior com a Julinha (filha de Si Fu). Eu então pensei: "Ei! Ok! Falta pouco! Da Barra da Tijuca para casa é rápido! Segura firme aí!". Foi quando Si Fu perguntou, se eu poderia levar ele até a Tijuca para deixar Julia na casa de sua mãe. Respondi que sim.

Si Suk Ursula asked me to stop at my Si Fu's house, where her daughter Rebeka had been with Julinha (Si Fu's daughter) from the previous day. I then thought, "Hey! Okay! Thats cool! From Barra da Tijuca to home, it's fast! Hold tight there!"-  That's when Si Fu asked, if I could take him to Tijuca to leave Julia at her mother's house. I answered "yes".

Naquela noite, deixei Si Suk Ursula em casa na Zona Oeste, fui até a Zona Norte com Si Fu deixar a Julia e voltamos para a Zona Oeste quando convidei Si Fu para jantar.
Lembro de estar bem atento para parar o carro a qualquer momento se necessário. Evitei correr, mantive os olhos bem abertos, e talvez ninguém sequer tenha percebido.
O que posso dizer dessa experiência, é que de alguma forma me senti superando meus próprios limites. Mesmo com tanto sono acumulado da noite anterior e de outras noites, estava completamente funcional.

That night, I left Si Suk Ursula at home in the West Zone, I went to the North Zone with Si Fu leaving Julia and we returned to the West Zone when I invited Si Fu to dinner.
I remember being careful to stop the car at any time if necessary. I avoided running, kept my eyes wide open, and maybe no one even noticed.
What I can say about this experience is that somehow I felt myself surpassing my own limits. Even with so much sleep accumulated from the night before and from other nights, I was fully functional.

E naquela noite a caminho de casa, soube que iria dormir tendo aprendido uma coisa nova antes, assim como Si Gung falara em seu relato ano passado caminho da Casa dos Discípulos. O que aprendi, é que com um bom propósito e foco adequado. Eu não preciso nem de meia hora para dormir.

And that night on the way home, I knew I was going to sleep having learned something new before, just as Si Gung had said last year on the way to the House of Disciples. What I learned, is that with a good purpose and proper focus. I do not even need half an hour to sleep.
