THE GREAT TIMES ARE BACK!

Então, você podia me ver ali de pé no palco! Não era o palco que me fazia estar feliz por dentro. Era o "frio na barriga", era o receio de algo sair errado, de algum engraçadinho levantar a mão para dizer que nada daquilo funcionava. Era a preparação que antecedeu toda a ação no palco, era a conversa que eu sabia que teríamos ao final. Era a minha felicidade, por onze anos depois, estar novamente participando de uma demonstração pública... Os bons tempos, pareciam ter voltado...

So you could see me standing there on the stage! It was not the stage that made me happy inside. It was the "butterflies inside my belly", it was the fear of something going wrong, some funny man raising his hand to say that none of it worked. It was the preparation that preceded all the action on stage, it was the conversation that I knew we would have at the end. It was my happiness, for eleven years later, to be again participating in a public demonstration ... The good times, they seemed to have returned ...

 Numa luta, piscar é muito perigoso. É no momento em que você pisca que o soco entra e tudo está acabado. Porém, acredito que mais perigoso ainda, é piscar enquanto se vive. Num piscar de olhos, uma década passa. E assim se foram onze anos desde a primeira demonstração pública que estive à frente. 
Com a participação dos queridos irmãos Kung Fu: Cris Chaves, Roberto Viana, Thiago Silva e Carlos Antunes. Nos apresentamos no Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio. A platéia era formada por profissionais e praticantes de outras artes marciais.

In a fight, the act of blinking is very dangerous. It is the moment you blink that the punch comes in and everything is finished. However, I believe that even more dangerous is to blink while one is living. In the blink of an eye, a decade passes by. And so it has been eleven years since the first public demonstration I was at.
With the participation of the dear Kung Fu brothers : Cris Chaves, Roberto Viana, Thiago Silva and Carlos Antunes. We performed at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio. The audience was formed by professionals and practitioners of other martial arts.

Por dentro, estava bem nervoso naquela ocasião. Mas sabia que meu nervosismo não podia ser maior do que a minha responsabilidade naquele fim de tarde de um Sábado qualquer de 2007....

Inside I was very nervous at the time. But I knew that my nervousness could not be greater than my responsibility on that late afternoon of any Saturday in 2007 ....

Tantos e tantos anos depois, apenas eu e Cris Chaves, com alguns quilos a mais e uns tantos quantos fios de cabelos brancos, estivemos presentes na demonstração de 2007 e na que ocorreu no evento cultural "Sabores do Mundo" no maior shopping da Zona Norte do Rio. Os demais: André Almeida, Clayton Meireles, Rodrigo Moreira, João Santos entraram na Família Kung Fu desde então. Ainda estiveram presentes meus dois To Dai : Chris Chagas e João Guttemberg.
Jaqueline Tergolina, minha discípula e Robson Brum, membro do Núcleo Méier estiveram presentes na segunda semana. Assim como Bruno Brandão com seus familiares.

So many years later, just me and Cris Chaves, with a few extra pounds and a few more strands of white hair have been in the demo in 2007 and  at the demonstration that took place at the "Sabores do Mundo" cultural event in the biggest shopping mall in the Northern Zone of Rio. The others: André Almeida, Clayton Meireles, Rodrigo Moreira, João Santos have entered the Kung Fu Family since then. My two To Dai were also present: Chris Chagas and João Guttemberg.
Jaqueline Tergolina, my disciple and Robson Brum, a member of the Méier School were present in the second week. Like Bruno Brandão with his relatives.

A demonstração era bem diferente daquela no Museu de Arte Moderna em 2007. Pois num cenário muito mais desafiador, deveríamos não só demonstrar a parte técnica da arte marcial que praticamos , como também promovê-la e por fim entreter os presentes durante os minutos que no palco estivéssemos.

The demonstration was quite different from that at the Museum of Modern Art in 2007. Because in a much more challenging scenario, we should not only demonstrate the technical part of the martial art we practice but also promote it and finally entertain those present during the minutes on stage.

Tivemos duas oportunidades naquele palco. Ao entender melhor a lógica do evento, reformulamos tudo para a segunda apresentação. João Santos esteve no palco nas duas oportunidades, assim como eu. Na primeira ele o dividiu com Cris Chaves e na segunda oportunidade com Rodrigo Moreira. Os demais cuidavam de outras tarefas decididas de forma prévia.

We had two opportunities on that stage. By better understanding the logic of the event, we reformulated everything for the second presentation. João Santos was on the stage both times, just like me. In the first he shared with Cris Chaves and in the second opportunity with Rodrigo Moreira. The others took care of other previously decided tasks.

Você pode me considerar um romântico incurável! E isso porta um potencial que as vezes acaba me atrapalhando quando uso mal... Mas naquelas duas tardes, vivi momentos simples mas que me preencheram profundamente, como praticante de Ving Tsun, junto aos meus irmãos Kung Fu.
Aqueles dois Sábados para mim, foram como jogar futebol na chuva,na rua e descalço novamente! E isso, não tem preço!

You can call me an incurable romantic! And that holds a potential that sometimes gets me fumbling when I use it badly ... But on those two evenings, I experienced simple moments that filled me deeply, as a practitioner of Ving Tsun, with my Kung Fu brothers .
Those two Saturdays for me, were like playing soccer in the rain, on the street and barefoot again! And that has no price!
