No filme "O profissional"(The Professional,1994) , Jean Reno interpreta Leon, um assassino a preço fixo que logo na primeira sequência do filme promove uma matança num hotel. Ele acaba se envolvendo com uma menina interpretada por Natalie Portman que pede para que ele a ensine a ser também uma assassina para se vingar daqueles que mataram sua família.
Leon (Jean Reno) compra um rifle de sniper para começar o treino, o homem que vende pergunta a ele, o que um assassino de seu calibre, faz com uma arma de amador. Isso causa estranheza no espectador , mas logo entendemos que o rifle de sniper permite com que o assassino fique a uma distância extremamente segura do alvo(foto).
Durante esse primeiro treino, a menina questiona Leon sobre quando usará facas. Leon faz uma pausa e responde: "As facas são a última arma que você vai aprender". - A menina questiona novamente a razão disso, e ele responde: "Porque você tem que estar bem perto para usá-las"....

In the film "The Professional" ( 1994), Jean Reno plays Leon, a professional assassin at a fixed price that on the first sequence of the film promotes a killing in a hotel. He gets involved with a girl played by Natalie Portman who asks him to teach her to be a killer to avenge those who killed her family.
Leon (Jean Reno) buy a sniper rifle to get the training, the man who sells asks him, what an assassin of his caliber, would make with an amateur weapon. This is strange for the viewer, but soon realize that the sniper rifle allows that the killer be an extremely safe distance from the target (photo).
During this first practice, the girl questions about when Leon will let her  use knives. Leon pauses and says, "The knives are the last weapon you will learn." - The girl questions the reason again, and he replies, "Because you have to be close to use them" ....

Si Gung(foto) sempre enfatiza que o "Baat Jaam Do" do Ving Tsun, nunca foi uma arma para se lutar, e sim para matar. Segundo ele, a natureza das facas está de acordo com a capacidade de quem as manuseia se aproximar e usá-las de forma que não sobre espaço para reação. Por isso, ele diz que são armas de assassinos. E por isso também , ele nos ensina a tratá-las com respeito e cuidado devido a energia dessa natureza que ela carrega, segundo a cultura clássica chinesa.
O "Baat Jaam Do" do Ving Tsun pode ser praticado em dois momentos diferentes, sendo no primeiro, aconselhável o uso de facas de madeira ou outro material como o da foto que não represente um risco para quem as porte.

Si Gung (photo) always emphasizes that "Baat Jaam Do" of Ving Tsun, was never a weapon to fight, but to kill. According to him, the nature of the knives is in accordance with the capacity of who handles approach and use them so that you have no room for reaction. So he says those are weapons of assassins. And so too, he teaches us to treat them with respect and care due to power such that it carries, according to classical Chinese culture.
The "Baat Jaam Do" of Ving Tsun can be practiced in two different times, with the first, advisable to use wooden knives or other material as in the photo which does not put a risk for whom use it.

Você pode estar se perguntando da razão de usarmos ferramentas tão "pesadas" para a prática do Kung Fu que sempre é vinculada a algo mais tranquilo pelos que procuram num primeiro momento. Tendo em vista inclusive que não se pode portar uma faca na rua e muito menos usá-la contra alguém. Mas não estamos praticando para usá-la contra outras pessoas, e sim , nos entendermos melhor através delas.
Quando por exemplo, usamos apenas nosso próprio corpo para interagir com alguém numa prática marcial, corremos certos riscos, mas estes não incluem o risco de ser cortado ou furado por um objeto cortante ou ainda que não seja de fato cortante como uma réplica de outro material, mas que simbolicamente represente esta natureza.  Usando estas ferramentas , precisamos estar mais atentos , pois se num primeiro momento alguém te ataca e você usa seus membros superiores para aparar o movimento, se este mesmo alguém usa um elemento de natureza cortante e perfurante em suas mãos, se a abordagem for a mesma, provavelmente seu braço vai junto.

You may be wondering the reason we use tools as "heavy", "dangerous", etc... for the practice of Kung Fu which is always linked to something more quiet by looking at first. Also because  of one can not carry a knife on the street, much less use it against someone(at least in Brazil). 
But we are not practicing to use it against others, and yes, we understand each other better through them.
When for example, only use our own body to interact with someone in a martial practice, we run certain risks, but these do not include the risk of being cut or punctured by a sharp object or it is not cutting it as a replica of another material but symbolically represents this nature. Using these tools, we need to be more attentive because if at first someone attacks you and you use your upper body to trim the movement, this same someone uses an element of cutting and perforating nature in your hands, if the approach is the same probably your arm will be cut away.

Naquela mesma tarde, os praticantes seniors usaram facas de metal como vemos um dos pares na mão de Si Gung que explica o trabalho a ser feito a seguir a Asad(foto) , discípulo de Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz, e aos demais presentes.
Comemos armados todos os dias à mesa com facas e mal percebemos. Certa vez enquanto jantava com Si Fu, parei de comer para falar com ele , e enquanto falava apontava sem perceber a faca que estava em minha mão. Com a ponta do dedo indicador e sorrindo ele a empurrou de volta e disse: "Não se aponta faca para ninguém..."
Ele havia solicitado a mim e ao meu irmão Kung Fu Vladimir em nosso primeiro dia de prática do Baat Jaam Do que nunca "brincássemos" com as facas, apontássemos sem necessidade, ou usassemos elas enquanto gesticulássemos , dentre outras recomendações. Porém infelizmente, não consegui transportar isso para o dia-a-dia. Ao menos, não naquele jantar.

That same afternoon, the senior practitioners use metal knives as we see a couple on hand of Si Gung explaining work to be done to Asad (photo), a disciple of Si Suk Ricardo Queiroz, and the others present.
We eat every day using weapons at the table with knives and barely noticed. Once while dining with Si Fu, I stopped eating to talk to him, and as I spoke without realizing pointed the knife that was in my hand to him. With the tip of the index finger and smiling he pushed back and said, "Do not point a knife to anyone ..."
He had asked me and my Kung Fu Brother Vladimir on our first day of practice of Baat Jaam Do for us never play as kids with the knives, never point it to anyone while talking, , among other recommendations. But unfortunately, I could not carry it for the day-to-day. At least not at that dinner.

Foi muito impressionante para todos os presentes mais uma vez presenciar o carisma, a altivez na fala e claro, a habilidade de Si Gung para trazer a atenção de um grupo para os mínimos detalhes do que se está sendo estudado.  E acredite , tudo isso com dois simples trabalhos: Primeiro, aprender a como passar o par de facas para o companheiro e segundo , tentar tomá-las das mãos do adversário com um toque prolongado inicial.

It was very impressive to all present once again witness the charisma, the haughtiness of speech and of course the Si Gung ability to bring the attention of a group to the smallest details of what is being studied. And believe me, all this with two simple jobs: First, learn how to move the pair of knives between you and your partner,and try to take them from the hand of the opponent with an initial prolonged touch.

 Por várias vezes, pratiquei com o Baat Jaam Do nas casas que Si Fu viveu (na foto estou com ele em uma delas).
 Ele sempre nos lembra que em ao longo dos séculos, algum ancestral de nossa árvore genealógica já usou uma faca em alguém e por isso não podemos esquecer a natureza dela. E por isso também , ele aconselha sempre a entrega de um Hung Baau ao final da prática para a pessoa que lhe mobilizou naquele trabalho. Porque , dentre outras razões, você minimamente passou quase uma hora apontando um par de facas para esta pessoa, e se para as facas terem um um potencial de corte é preciso de intenção por detrás, entenda como quiser...
Mas não é bom falar de facas, vamos apenas entender como uma tarde bem bacana com Si Gung no Núcleo Méier...

Several times, I practiced with the Baat Jaam Do at the houses that Si Fu lived (in the photo above I am with him in one of them).
  He always reminds us that in over the centuries, some ancestor of our family tree used a knife to kill someone and so we can not forget its nature. And so too, he always advises the importance to give of a Hung baau in the end of the practice for the person who taught you in that work. Because, among other reasons, you minimally spent almost an hour pointing a pair of knives to this person, and to the knives have an a cutting potential is need intention behind, as you understand ...
But it's not good to talk about knives, let's just understand all this post as a very nice afternoon with Si Gung at MYVT Meier School
