NOVO MESTRE DE VING TSUN NO RIO! (NEW VING TSUN MASTER IN RIO!)

A vida passa muito rápido, cada vez mais eu percebo o obvio. Mas sentado ali num dos salões do Windsor Plaza Hotel em Copacabana(foto), lembrei de quando comecei no Ving Tsun aos 15 anos. Meu tutor preferido naquela época era o Si Sok Ricardo Queiroz. Por isso o escolhi para ser meu Gaai Siu Yan(apresentador) na primeira Cerimônia em que participei, e um ano e meio mais tarde, para ser meu orientador quando passei de nível.
Ali, 14 anos depois, Si Sok Queiroz se qualificava como Mestre, e para mim foi muito emocionante acompanhar aqueles momentos desta pessoa que foi muito paciente comigo quando comecei...

Life goes by so fast, I increasingly realize the obvious. But sitting there in a hall of Windsor Plaza Hotel in Copacabana (photo), I remembered when I started in Ving Tsun at age 15. My favorite tutor at that time was the Si Sok Ricardo Queiroz. So I chose him to be my Gaai Siu Yan (presenter) at the first ceremony I attended, and a year and a half later to be with me again when I went to Cham Kiu.
There, 14 years later, Si Sok Queiroz was qualifying himself  as a Master, and for me it was very exciting to follow those moments of this person who was very patient with me when I started ...

Essa noite especial para Si Sok Queiroz e sua esposa, Sra Flávia Brambilla, teve muitos personagens essenciais que foram muito celebrados através das palavras de Si Sok ao microfone nos agradecimentos. Mas poucas pessoas lembraram de um rapaz, que não estava lá, mas que merece ser mencionado: O atendente do Hotel Windsor Atlantica.
Eu parei meu carro numa vaga mágica em frente a praia do Leme que mal pude acreditar, e caminhei até o primeiro hotel onde li "Windsor". Entrando lá, fui até a recepção onde o atendente a cada passo que eu dava, me observava com olhos cada vez mais cerrados parecendo já advinhar a pergunta que faria: "Oi amigão! Boa noite! Eu vim pro evento do Ricardo Queiroz, Moy Yat Ving Tsun." . O rapaz tomou ar, deu 2 batidinhas com os papéis que segurava em cima do balcão de marmore e disse: "Não seria no Windsor Plaza Senhor?"

This special evening for Si Sok Queiroz and his wife, Mrs. Flavia Brambilla, had many essential characters that were very celebrated through the words of Si Sok at the microphone. But few people remembered a boy who was not there, but deserves to be mentioned: The clerk of the Windsor Atlantica.
I stopped my car in a magical spot in front of Leme beach wich I could hardly believe it, and walked to the first hotel where I read "Windsor". Getting there, went to the front desk where this attendant every step I took, was watching me with eyes clenched increasingly looking as he already guess the question I would make: "Hi buddy Good evening! I came for Ricardo Queiroz event, Moy Yat Ving Tsun. ". The boy take a deep breath, and said: "I think it is at Windsor Plaza Sir?"

Não entendi bem a falta de paciência dele num primeiro momento enquanto me encaminhava para o hotel certo, mas ao ouvir varios depoimentos de pessoas que entraram lá por engano mais tarde, percebi o quanto ele teve que responder a mesma pergunta naquele fim de tarde. Por isso, fica aqui esta menção honrosa ao rapaz anonimo da recepção do hotel errado!

Did not quite understand his lack of patience at first while I headed for the right hotel, but after hear testimonials from several people who went there by mistake later, I realized how much he had to answer the same question that evening. So here is this mention to the anonymous reception guy from the wrong hotel!

Depois de ser muito bem recebido por alguns To Dai (alunos) de Si Sok Queiroz que aguardavam no Hall do Hotel e ser conduzido a magnifica cobertura, lá estava eu na abertura da Cerimônia de Baai Si(discipulado) na qual Si Sok Ursula Lima, Mestre Qualificado da MYVT Rio de Janeiro conduziu.

After being very well received by some To Dai (students)of Si Sok Queiroz waiting at the Hotel's Hall  there I was at the opening of Baai Si Ceremony (discipleship) in which Si Sok Ursula Lima, Qualified master of MYVT Rio de Janeiro led.

Família Kung Fu (梅基魯士, Moy Ke Lo Si) e puderam ter a honra de receber Si gung e Si Taai(foto) presentes em sua Cerimônia.

Na foto vemos Pedro Lamarão ofertando chá para Si Sok Queiroz. Na cultura chinesa, esta Cerimônia estabelece um vínculo vitalício entre o Mestre e o aprendiz, ou em cantonês, entre o Si Fu e o To Dai. O estabelecimento deste vínculo se dá através da oferta do chá e do aceite do mesmo pelo Si Fu.

In the photo we see Pedro Lamaão offering tea to Si Sok Queiroz. In Chinese culture, this ceremony establishes a lifelong bond between master and apprentice, or in Cantonese, between Si Fu and To Dai. The establishment of this link is through the offer of tea and acceptance thereof by Si Fu.

A esposa de um Si Fu é chamada de Si Mo. Quando presente na Cerimônia de Baai Si, ela também aceita o chá, como vemos o gentil Eduardo Esteves, que pude conhecer um mês antes, oferecer a sua Si Mo, Sra Flavia Brambilla.
Não só por isso, mas o vínculo Si Fu-Todai (Mestre-Aluno) que se torna vitalício numa Cerimônia como essa, pode ser estendido aos familiares do Si Fu. Bem como, da parte do Si Fu, o zelo pode ser estendido aos familiares do praticante. Com certeza, uma relação para a vida...

The wife of a Si Fu is called Si Mo. When she is present in the ceremony of Baai Si, she also accepts the tea, as we see the gentle Eduardo Esteves, who I could know better a month before, offering tea to his Si Mo, Ms Flavia Brambilla.
Not only that, but the Si-Fu Todai (Teacher-Student) bond that becomes a life-long ceremony as such, can be extended to the family of Si Fu. As well, the part of Si Fu, the zeal can be extended to the practitioner's family. Surely a relationship for life ...

Si Gung(foto) e Si Taai também aceitaram o chá de Pedro(foto) e posteriormente de Eduardo. O "Gung"(公) de Si Gung significa "avô" assim como o "Fu"(父) de Si Fu significa "Pai". Isso caracteriza o Kung Fu tradicional como uma arte que se apóia estrategicamente em conceitos confucianos de "Família" no caso do Kung Fu em cantonês "Mun"(門). Por isso conceitualmente, ao se tornar discípulo ou "Dai Ji"(弟子) o praticante se torna "filho" de seu Si Fu. Já que "Ji"(子) que significa "criança" em cantonês, ou um sufixo agregado a nomes para colocá-los no diminutivo, também pode ser interpretado como "filho". Isso pode soar exótico a nossa cultura, mas essa relação simbólica familiar, auxilia no processo de aprendizagem na cultura clássica chinesa.

Si Gung (photo) and Si Taai also accepted the tea from Pedro (photo) and later Eduardo. The "Gung" (公)in  Si Gung means "grandfather" and the "Fu" (父)in Si Fu means "Father". It features the traditional Kung Fu as an art that relies on strategically Confucian concepts of "family" in the case of Kung Fu in Cantonese "Mun" (門). So conceptually, to become a disciple or "Dai Ji" (弟子) the practitioner becomes "son" of his Si Fu. Since "Ji" (子) means "child" in Cantonese, or suffix added to names to put them in please, can also be interpreted as "son." That may sound exotic to our culture, but this symbolic family relationship, assists in the process of learning in Chinese classical culture.

Quando falamos em relação vitalícia estabelecida na Cerimônia de Baai Si, o próprio termo vitalício se torna limitado tendo em vista de que mesmo quando alguém com quem nos relacionamos profundamente falece, nossa relação continua com esta pessoa através de um processo memorial. Não seria então a relação Mestre-Discipulo para sempre?
Pelo respeito aos ancestrais que nos possibilitaram usufruir do conhecimento presente nesta arte marcial, a reverência a ancestralidade, outro aspecto confuciano esta presente nas Cerimônias Tradicionais.

When we talk about lifelong relationship established in  Baai Si Ceremony, the lifetime term itself becomes limited in view that even when someone we relate deeply dies  , our relationship continues with this person by a memorial process. Would not then the Master-disciple relationship last forever?
Respect to ancestors that allowed use of this knowledge in this martial art, reverence for ancestry, another Confucian aspect is present in Traditional Ceremonies.

O Si Sok Rodrigo Giarola(foto) do Núcleo Belo Horizonte, é o artista por traz deste Jiu Paai(placa de anuncio). Para mim uma arte incrível que faço questão de destacar, pois se já soa difícil desenhar numa folha de papel, quão habilidoso se precisa ser para insculpir ideogramas em madeira! É sublime!

The Si Sok Rodrigo Giarola from MYVT Belo Horizonte School(photo), is the artist behind this Jiu paai (annoucement board). For me an amazing art that I make a point of mentioning, because it already sounds hard to draw on a sheet of paper, how skilled you need to be inscribe ideograms wood! It is sublime!
