Depois de uma semana inteira meio que longe do BLOG, trabalhando em seus bastidores, e mais ainda, trabalhando no meu emprego, afinal eu possuo uma identidade secreta de detetizador. Eu realmente preferia ser um repórter como Clark Kent ou um zilionário como Bruce Wayne ( sem o Robin), mas também me divirto na detetização..

Hoje,de volta, numa série especial, traremos uma entrevista internacional feita pelo Dr. Steven Gold, americano de Los Angeles ao Si Gung Leo Imamura para a revista "Wing Chun Legends" chamada: "KEEPING THE FAITH:VING TSUN IS ALIVE AND WELL IN BRAZIL."

Porém, como todos sabem, entre o que o reporter toma nota e o que ele publica, muita coisa é resumida ou preterida, assim, antes da reportagem com scans da revista, vamos trasncrever a entrevista integral de Mestre Leo Imamura em 3 partes.

SG - Sr. Imamura, você poderia falar em linhas gerais sobre o desenvolvimento do Ving Tsun no Brasil?

LI- O Ving Tsun foi introduzido no Brasil por alguns imigrantes provenientes de Hong Kong, gostaria de citar o nome de um deles que foi meu primeiro instrutor, Sr. Li Hon Ki.
Ele aprendeu a arte com diferentes pessoas como Ho Kam Ming, Koo Sang e Ng Chang. Sr. Li veio ao Brasil para visitar seus familiares e decidiu ficar alguns anos, e até hoje ele vive aqui.
No inicio, Mestre Li Hon Ki ensinava privativamente seus alunos.Eu era um deles. De fato, fui o primeiro a completar todos os niveis de treinamento sob sua tutela. Anos depois fundei a primeira escola oficial de Ving Tsun do país em 1988.
Contudo, é importante mencionar um evento anterior: a desistencia de cursar a Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo, faltando um ano apenas para concluí-lo, para tornar-me um profissional de Artes Marciais. Para tal, decidi ir a Hong Kong e Mestre Li me ajudou muito nesta decisão.
Na minha viagem para Hong Kong tive que passar alguns dias em New York e, por coincidência, encontrei Grão-Mestre Moy Yat, inciciando uma forte e duradoura relação.
Naquela época, acreditava que Moy Yat estava aposentado, visto que possuía uma numerosa família, onde alunos e alunos de alunos estavam comprometidos com a responsabilidade de transmitir a arte. No entanto, o fato era que ele ainda estava muito ativo e exercendo plenamente suas atividades.
Ao terminar nosso encontro,Grão-Mestre Moy Yat disse: "Vá para Hong Kong e busque seus objetivos.Caso não encontre,você pode voltar que estarei disposto a ajudá-lo"
É óbvio que liguei para o Mestre Li Hon Ki ,naquela noite, para pedir-lhe conselhos, e ele me disse: "Moy Yat é,talvez, a única pessoa que pode te ajudar visto que você tem tantas questões complexas a serem respondidas."
De fato, ele me deixou livre para seguir meu caminho.
Infelizmente, eu não encontrei o que estava procurando em Hong Kong.Estava procurando algo mais do que um sistema de combate.Meu objetivo ao tornar-me um profissional de Artes Marciais para ajudar e educar pessoas e não apenas ensinar defesa pessoal.Eu queria algo mais profundo.
Um dos problemas cruciais foi a barreira da língua.Nenhum mestre conceituado de Hong Kong falava inglês , muito menos português. Assim voltei para NY e tudo começou.
Grão-mestre Moy Yat tem uma abordagem muito especial a respeito da transmissão das Artes Marciais.Na verdade,encontrei exatamente o que estava procurando ao aprender com este notável Mestre.
Ele morava no Brooklyn e ensinava em Chinatown.Seu método de ensino era bem tradicional.
Quando eu falo em tradição eu não estou falando em seguir algo cegamente.Não.Estou falando em seguir algo, porque vale a pena fazê-lo.Isto foi o que senti quando decidi seguir Moy Yat.

SG - Mr. Imamura, you could talk broadly about the development of Ving Tsun in Brazil?

LI-The Ving Tsun was introduced in Brazil by some immigrants from Hong Kong, I would quote the name of one who was my first instructor, Mr. Li Hon Ki.
He learned the art with different people like Ho Kam Ming, Koo Sang and Ng Chang. Mr. Li came to Brazil to visit his family and decided to stay a few years, and today he lives here.
At first, Master Li Hon Ki taught privately his students.I was one. In fact, I was the first to complete all levels of training under his tutelage. Years later founded the first official Ving Tsun school in my country in 1988.
However, it is important to mention an earlier event: the withdrawal of study at the Faculty of Law, in University of Sao Paulo, missing only one year to complete it, to become a professional Martial Artist. To this end, I decided to go to Hong Kong and Master Li has helped me in this decision.
In my trip to Hong Kong had to spend a few days in New York and, by coincidence, I met Grand Master Moy Yat, embarking upon a strong and lasting relationship.
At that time, believed that Moy Yat was retired because it had a large family, where students and students of students were committed to the responsibility of transmitting the art. However, the fact was that he was still very active and fully exercising their activities.
When finished our meeting, Grand Master Moy Yat said: "Go to Hong Kong and seek your goals.If you not find, you can come back I'll be willing to help"
Obviously I called Master Li Hon Ki, that evening to ask him advice and he told me, "Moy Yat is perhaps the only person who can help you since you have so many complex questions to be answered. "
In fact, he left me free to follow my path.
Unfortunately, I found what I was looking for in Hong Kong.I was looking for something more than a system of combat.My goal to become a professional martial artist to help and educate people and not just teach personal defense.I wanted something deeper.
One of the key problems was the barrier of lamguage.None renowned master of Hong Kong speak English, much less Portuguese. So I went to NY and it all started.
Grand Master Moy Yat has a very particular approach regarding the transmission of Martial Arts.I actually found exactly what I was looking to learn from this remarkable Master.
He lived in Brooklyn and taught at Chinatown.His method of teaching was very traditional.
When I talk about tradition I'm not talking about following something blinded .No.I´m talking about following something because it's worth doing .This was what I felt when I decided to follow Moy Yat.


SG - Como foi a receptividade de suas idéias em seu próprio país?

LI- Felizmente, muitos brasileiros estão interessados em aprender uma abordagem completa do Sistema Ving Tsun.
O que quero dizer com "abordagem completa"? Abordagem completa não é somente vir,aprender algumas técnicas e ir.É muito mais do que isso.É aprender a natureza que está por trás de cada técnica,permitindo sua aplicação no seu dia-a-dia.
Alguns minutos atrás um deputado ligou pra mim querendo aprender Ving Tsun.Para quê? Obviamente que não é para lutar.Ele tem tantas obrigações,tantos compromissos,que simplesmente perdeu o controle da situação. Agora ele deseja praticar Ving Tsun para melhorar sua qualidade de vida,ao desenvolver a habilidade de tomar decisões de forma eficaz em tempo real.
Vejo de uma forma muito otimista o desejo desta pessoa de aprender, pois acredito que Ving Tsun é extremamente eficiente para a sociedade moderna. Ele não me procurou para aprender um conjunto de movimentos exóticos depois de ver um filme do Bruce Lee.
Este é um ponto extremamente positivo na promoção do Ving Tsun no Brasil.Ao preservar a arte como no seu apogeu,quando pessoas eruditas aprendiam a arte não apenas para lutar , mas principalmente para aprender mais sobre si próprias e contribuir da melhor maneira possível na sociedade onde viviam.
Estamos agora promovendo este aspecto da arte em escala cada vez maior.Agora nós temos vários grupos.Transmitimos este conceito em universidades.Nós auxiliamos pessoas através de diferentes federações,particulamente nas federações de kung fu, e em vários congressos.
Como disse anteriormente,há uma necessidade muito grande em falar de tradição,porque as pessoas tem um preconceito muito grande a respeito.
Elas pensam que tradição é algo velho e sem utilidade.Acredito que uma das dificuldades de compreender a arte do Ving Tsun é por vermos o fato sob a óptica do consumismo.Simplesmente consumimos e descartamos.No entanto,artes como Ving Tsun surgiram bem antes desse conceito ser tão dominante como nos dias de hoje.
Por isso acredito que nossa missão no Brasil é promover a forma tradicional de transmissão.

SG - How was the receptivity of your ideas in your own country?

LI-Fortunately, many Brazilians are interested in learning a complete approach Ving Tsun System.
What I mean by "comprehensive approach"? Comprehensive approach is not like merely come, learn some techniques and go.Is much more than learn the nature behind each technique, allowing its application in their day-to-day.
A few minutes ago a politician called me wanting to learn Ving Tsun.For what? Obviously that is not for fight.He has so many obligations, so many commitments, that simply lost control of the situation. Now he wants to practice Ving Tsun to improve your quality of life, to develop the ability to make decisions effectively in real time.
I see a very optimistic person that the desire to learn, because I believe that Ving Tsun is extremely efficient for modern society. He did not wanted me to learn a set of exotic moves after seeing a Bruce Lee movie
This is an extremely positive in promoting Ving Tsun in Brazil.preserve in art as in its heyday, when people learned the art learned not only to fight, but primarily to learn more about themselves and contribute the best way possible in the society where they lived.
We are now promoting this aspect of art in a time scale maior.Now we have several classes.Teaching this concept in universities.we assist people through different federations, federations of individuals in kung fu, and several conferences.
As I said earlier, there is a great need to speak of tradition, because people have a prejudice about very large.
They think that tradition is something old and without utility.I believe that one of the difficulties of understanding the art of Ving Tsun is by seeing the fact from the viewpoint of capitalism.Simply consume and throw away7.No However, the arts as Ving Tsun emerged well before that concept be so dominant as today.
Therefore I believe that our mission in Brazil is to promote the traditional form of transmission.
