Hoje o Blog do Pereira traz um tema muito legal a ser explorado! Um tema que todo o praticante de arte marcial já teve contato, e mesmo os não praticantes, mas nunca se deram conta! Sabe aquela música que você adora, mas não sabe de quem é? Pois bem... Hoje vamos falar de WU XIA!

Mas antes de você saber o que é isso,e entrarmos no tema em si, vamos a algumas reflexões importantes...

You know those musics you just love, but don’t even know who sings? That’s it... Today we’ll talk about WU XIA!

But before entering on this subject let’s talk about something else, some really important thoughs...

Você já parou pra pensar porque o Superman usa a sunga por cima da calça? Veja bem, eu adoro o seriado SMALLVILLE, e adorei a luta do Superman contra o Shazam nos quadrinhos em "REINO DO AMANHÃ" de Alex Ross, mas tipo, o cara usa a sunga por cima da calça! E duvido que você tenha achado estranho!

Have you ever thought about why does Superman uses his underwear over his pants? Don’t get me wrong, I love Smallville and I loves Superman fighting against Shazam on “Kingdom Come” comics, by Alex Ross, but to use underwear over his pants is way over that! I doubt you think that’s strange...

E a mulher maravilha?? Ela é grega! Por que diabos usa então as cores dos States com essa "granny-panties" com estrelas?!?!?! E ela tem uma nave invisível!Mas duvido que você tenha pensado nisso!

And what about Wonder Woman? She’s Greek, so why she uses the North American colors in those granny-panties with stars!? She has an invisible airplane too! But I doubt you ever thought about that...

O pior de todos é o homem-aranha! Eu posso falar isso, pois trabalho com dedetização(hoje apenas no escritório) ,mas quando batia de frente com pragas urbanas, sempre tive algo em mente: Se uma barata radioativa entrasse em contato comigo, o máximo que poderia acontecer era eu pegar uma hepatite! E não ganhar super-poderes! Afinal, o meu único poder seria aparecer encolhido no salgadinho do vilão para matar ele de nojo! Mas uma aranha radioativa picar alguém e esse alguém ganhar super poderes é normal não é?

But the worst of them all is the Spider Man! I know what I’m saying because I work with Pest Control (nowadays, office only), but I used to think about what would happen if a radioactive cockroach touched my body, the worst that could happen is called hepatitis, not super-powers. The only feat someone with this power could accomplish is to sneak into the target’s snack and kill him by disgust or nausea. So, a radioactive spider bites someone and the victim gains special powers is not normal, is it?

PEARTREE´S BLOG: SPECIAL POST Wǔxiá

As histórias de Wuxia vem dos séculos 2 e 3 antes de Cristo , sobre Cavaleiros errantes e assassinos. Essas histórias, voltaram com força na dinastia Tang na forma de contos Chuanqi(Legendário). Histórias como Nie Yin Niang , The Kunlun Slave, Jing Shi San Niang,etc... serviram como inspiração para as histórias modernas de wǔxiá, que mostram coisas fantásticas, protagonistas fora da realidade, quase sempre solitários que fazem coisas heróicas...

Wu Xia tales were told since century 3 or 2 b.C, about wandering knights and assassins. These tales were brought back in Tang Dinasty as Chuanqi (Legendary) Tales. Stories as Nie Yin Niang, The Kunlun Slave, Jing Shi San Niang, and many others inspired modern Wu Xia stories, that shows lone wolf characters performing heroic deeds...

WUSHIA em Mandarim, língua oficial da China. E MouHap em cantonês, dialeto sulista deste mesmo país e de Hong Kong.

WUSHIA in Mandarin(official Language of mainland China). And MouHap in cantonese(a dialect used in South China and Hong Kong).

Xiá , significa algo como “código de honra", "cavaleiro errante" , etc... Xiá , means something like "honor code", "errant knight" , etc...

wǔ , quer dizer algo relacionado com "marcial", "Militar"...

Poderiamos pensar em algo como "Cavaleiro errante que conhece a arte da guerra" ...

wǔ, means something relationed with "Martial", "Military"...

We could think about something like: "Errant Knight who knows the art of war"...


Um homem que segue o "xiá" é conhecido como "xiákè", um "espadachim" ou outra forma de dizer "Cavaleiro errante".
Porém um Xiákè não precisa estar vinculado a um senhor feudal nem a uma força militar. Ele também não precisa ser da aristocracia!
A man who follows the "xiá" is known as "xiákè", a "sowrdsman", or just another way to say "errant knight". But a Xiákè doesnt need to be linked with a any kind of Lord or a military force. He also doesnt need to be part of the aristrocacy.

p.s. - Este mesmo "kè" de espadachim, precedido do ideograma 博 (bó) , se torna o equivalente chinês para "BLOG" . Assim temos "BóKè"= Blog. E "Bó Kè rén", igual a "Blogueiro".
Assim se você juntar: 梨(lí) 树(shù)的(de)博(bó)客(kè). Você tem "BLOG DO PEREIRA" em Chinês! hehehe
p.s. - This same "kè" from the word "swordsman" , with the ideogram 博 (bó) before it, means "BLOG" in mandarin. So, if you add "rén" (BóKÈrén) , you have Blog user. And if you join the ideograms :梨(lí) 树(shù)的(de)博(bó)客(kè). You have "Peartree´s Blog" in Chinese! Yeah!

O guerreiro(XiáKè) "sem-nome"(Jet Li) voa para atacar naquele que é considerado o melhor filme de Kung Fu de todos os tempos: Herói(HERO,2002)

Para os escritores americanos, é muito importante escrever sobre a origem do Herói. Por isso você sabe que o Superman vem de Krypton e por isso pode voar, por isso você sabe que Bruce Wayne é bilionário e pode comprar todas as coisas do Batman, mas no pensamento clássico chinês não. O herói simplesmente aparece voando e você que imagine o "por que"...
For the roterists and writers of the Ocident, is very important to describe the Hero´s origin. because of that, you know that Superman can fly , because his is from Krypton, and Batman has all the things, cause Bruce Wayne, is a bilionare! But in the classic chinese way is not this way! The hero just shows up flying around without a razoable reason, and you sir, can imaginate the reason by yourself!
Muitas vezes você vai reparar, que em filmes como "O Tigre e o Dragão" , não eram todos que voavam. Li Mu Bai(Chow Yun Fat) e Shu Lien(Michelle Yeoh) eram grandes mestres que voavam durante as batalhas. Já a personagem da atriz Zhang Zi Yi, não era um mestre, mas devido ao seu potencial, também tinha essa habilidade. Porém, a malvada "Raposa Jade" não conseguia, e no filme, o motivo por sua habilidade ser limitada é comentado.
Esse pode ser um dos motivos destes personagens voarem nesta película.

In movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, not everyone was able to fly. Li Mu Bai(Chow Yun Fat) and Shu Lien(Michelle Yeoh) were great masters that could fly in battles. The character made by the actress Zhang Zi Yi was not a master, but she was good enough to have that ability. But the evil Jade Fox couldn’t fly thanks to her limited ability that is explained in the movie.

Dos anos 60 até 80, tivemos o que é considerada a era de ouro do wǔxiá.

Hoje as aventuras Wuxia são basicamente histórias situadas na China antiga. As histórias são variadas, mas elas ainda assim,são muito similares.

From the sixties ‘till the eighties we had wǔxiá Golden Age.

Nowadays, Wu Xia adventures are merely stories passed on Ancient China. There are many titles, but even so, they are really similars.

O elemento fantasia não é um pré-requisito, as histórias Wuxia,podem sim ser bem realisticas, mas o genero requer que seus personagens saibam alguma arte marcial.

Geralmente o tema fala sobre algum jovem na China ancestral que passa por uma tragédia(perde a família ou seu mestre) e começa uma dura jornada de treinamento e provações. Geralmente este jovem ressurge como um Mestre inigualável na China, que através de suas habilidades, mudará os rumos de "Jianghu".

The “fantasy” element is not a pre-requisite. Wuxia stories may be realistics but their characters must know a martial art.

Usually in these movies, some youg man in ancient China has a hard time (his family or master is deceased) a starts a hard journey of practice and tests. These youngster usually shows up later as na incomparable Master that will chance the tides in “Jianghu”.

Em FEARLESS(2007), Jet Li , que interpreta o lendário Huo YuanJia, antes uma pessoa que apenas se importava em vencer desafios, muda completamente após ter toda a sua Família assassinada! Depois de alguns anos fora, retorna para ShangHai como um novo homem pronto para defender os interesses do povo chinês!

Fearless(2007). Jet Li is Huo YuanJia, he used to be a guy that lived for fights, but changes completely after having his entire family murdered! Years later he returns to Shang Hai as a new man, ready to protect the Chinese population!

Bruce Lee não gostava nem um pouco deste genero. Para ele, filmes deste tipo eram muito fantasiosos e deturpavam a imagem do Kung Fu. De certa forma Bruce Lee começou um movimento realista no cinema de Hong Kong.

Bruce Lee didn’t like these kind of movies. To him, these movies were full of fantasy and distorted Kung Fu’s image. Somehow, Bruce Lee started the “realism” in Hong Kong movies.

Um guerreiro que segue o "Xiá", é aquele que protege a justiça usando suas habilidades marciais em favor do mais fraco. Dentro deste código, ainda encontramos os conceitos de "Retidão" e "honra" que enfatizam a importância dos favores recebidos e vingança ao decorrer da vida. Os seguidores deste código o defendem ferozmente

No mundo do Wuxia, mesmo os vilões são leais aos seus Si Fu(mestres).Além disso, quando acontece uma disputa de qualquer tipo a melhor forma de resolver a questão neste genero é através de duelos. Estes duelos são geralmente realizados por duas pessoas de nível e habilidade equivalentes em seus respectivos grupos.

A "Xiá" follower is the one that protects justice using his martial abilities to protect the weakers. Inside this Code we found mentions to Proper Behavior and Honor, emphatizing received favors and revenge througout life. "Xiá" followers protects the code ferociously.

In Wuxia world even the Evil Warriors are loyal to their Si Fu (masters). So whenever there is a fight over something, the best way of solving this problem is dueling. These duels are usually done by two characters with similar ability leves inside their groups.

JIANG HU(江湖)

Este termo é sempre citado nos filmes deste genero e traduzindo significa "rios e lagos".

Jiang Hu é um universo paralelo que reune artistas marciais usualmente reunidos em escolas,clãs, disciplinas ,etc... É habitado por princesas, ladrões, mercadores ,etc... Os melhores escritores deste genero, fazem uma imagem do lugar, como um emaranhado de honra,lealdade,amor, e ódio entre individuos e comunidades deste metiê.

Uma característica comum em JiangHu, é que as diferenças só podem ser resolvidas pela força. A Lei e ordem é mantida por alianças entre as sociedades de artes marciais, e comandada geralmente pelo guerreiro mais forte, em alguns casos o protagonista.

JiangHu é um termo que pode ser atribuido a todo caso em que a lei não funciona, já que mesmo os mafiosos chineses descrevem seu mundo como "Jianghu". Se aposentar, também pode ser traduzido hoje como "Sair de Jiang Hu".

This term is always used in Wuxia movies and means “Rivers and Lakes”.

Jiang Hu is an alternate universe in which martial artists gathers in Schools, Clans or Disciplines. It’s populated by thieves, princesses, merchants, etc. The best writers in this genre are able to create conection nets between all characters concerning Honor, Loyalty, Love, Hate, etc.

Another curios fact is that in JiangHu, troubles must be resolved by force. Law and order are maintened by an alliance between martial arts societies and is usually headed by the strongest warrior, in some cases, the protagonist.

JiangHu is a term that can be used whenever law isn’t respected. Even Chinese Mafia describes their “world” as “JiangHu”, retiring can also be translated as “Leaving JiangHu”.

"AHH NÃO! ELE VOA! QUE RIDÍCULO!"

No final de 2000, eu pulei do sofá quando vi o Top 10 da bilheteria americana num canal da Tv a cabo, e em 8º estava o filme "O Tigre e o Dragão". Em Fevereiro de 2001, eu tive a oportunidade de assistir com meu fiel amigo Rafael (que a Família Kung Fu conhece como "Romarinho"). Porém, muito entusiasmado com a película, retornei sozinho na mesma semana. Perto de casa, meio ingresso a inacreditável R$ 1,00 e pipoca e refri a R$ 5,00. Tudo parecia perfeito quando sentei naquela antiga poltrona de couro falso vermelho. O filme começou e eu vibrava a cada cena, porém, nesta cena acima, uma voz ecoa: "Ahhh! fala sério! Os maluco tudo voa!" ... Neste momento, diante de tão peculiar português falado, a fúria tomou meu ser, mas tive que aturar risinhos e outras frases indesejáveis até o final do filme. Talvez se fosse hoje, seria diferente.

Eu levantaria, sentaria na poltrona atrás do meliante, e assim como Leonidas em "300" , gritaria seguido de um chute em sua poltrona....

At the end of 2000, I jumped out of my couch when I watched about US most watched movies. At 8^th place was Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Two months later I had the opportunity of watching this movie with my loyal friend Rafael (know in the Kung Fu family as “Romarinho”). I liked it so much, that I went to the cinema again in that same week, alone this time. The ticket was R$ 1,00 and the Soda Pop Corn combo was only R$ 5,00. Everything was perfect when I sat at that old red leather couch. The movie started and I was really excited, but in the scene shown above a voice echoed: "Ahhh! No way! Tha’ dude is flying!" ... At that moment, rage had my heart, I had to put up with giggles and other repulsive statements ‘till the movie ended. Perhaps nowadays things would be different.

I would stand up, sit on the couch right behind that citizen and shout just like Leonidas at “300” while kicking his back:

"THIS IS WUXIAAAAAAAA!"

É brincadeira... se fosse hoje eu pediria com educação..rs ou ficaria resmungando com minha noiva..rs

Just kidding, nowadays I would just ask politely for him to stop ou would stay with my fiancée just mumbling about it...
