Novos membros na Família Kung Fu (New members in Kung Fu family!)

On the morning of last Saturday,September, 25th , happened the Hoi Kuen  of the two practitioners above:Leonardo Henrique and Daniel de Caires into Moy Jo Lei Ou Family(11G VT).
Si Fu Julio Camacho(11G VT) ranked as the most important time for a practitioner, his "birth" for Family Kung Fu. Still making a parallel with the actual moment of birth of a human being: That is, no matter what happens next, the determinant is simply the fact you were born.

For me in particular was a very special moment because I have had the opportunity to work directly with both at the MYVT Meier STUDIO since the day they started. Large bonds are formed between us, and this Hoi Kuen was an opportune time to extend these bonds for the whole Family Kung Fu and not just between us.

Leonardo Henrique has 37 years old, is married and has one son with 11 months old. Leo, as we call him, has an eternal love for martial arts. The art that he had spent more time till today was also the Chinese arte of Pak Tong Long, at the same school where came his Si Hing Rodrigo Demetrio(12G VT).Leo is an amateur runner and participates in numerous competitions of running. But really, what impresses me most in Leonardo, which is at an age when many people become sedentary even in their minds, he succeeds.
(the train that Leo(12G VT) takes everyday to go back home before the trainning sessions.)

Leo faces the crowded train coming from the famous "Central of Brazil train station till Meier Train Station, take his child in school, and literally run to the MYVT Meier Studio for trainning. And never, at no time complained of tiredness or skipped a workout because of lack of provision. This is something that inspires me in Leo.
Another very remarkable fact of his personality, is the purity that he sees the martial arts. Therefore, I see in him an extraordinary potential to inspire more people in the Family Kung Fu beyond me.

Daniel de Caires, is a lawyer and have 27 years old. Met me at Orkut.com(a kind of facebook in Brazil) and booked an appointment at Meier Studio after exchanging some emails.
The case of Daniel was curious at first, because he has a permanent damage from his latest martial art , and told me that he would take an x-ray of the injury that I may assess.
I commented to Si Fu and he replied: "Pereira, you're not a doctor. Look closely at the x-ray, but remember to Daniel, who has primary responsibility for not getting hurt during training will always be himself."

Daniel is a Buddhist and a former practitioner of Aikido. He arrived with all his heart to practice Ving Tsun. Quickly visited the Mo Gun and met Si Fu.

In fact, some people seem to be guided till Kung Fu Family showing a big affinity  from the very beginning, and I see Daniel as one of those people. In each session, in every moment, Daniel never replied anything of what was said, just accepting and practicing, relying heavily on Ving Tsun, and thus a living example of the old story of "keeping the
cup empty ."

Parabéns a Família Moy Jo Lei Ou e a Leonardo e Daniel.

But I could not stop without talking about the shirt that Si Fu wore in Hoi Kuen: The Argentine soccer team Boca Juniors t-shirt, which was given to him that morning by his disciple Carlos Antunes(12G VT).

Si Fu said that he found very interesting to be wearing a football shirt at a time like this because it breaks the fantasy of "
Kung Fu Master".Si Fu spoke about the very term "Si Fu": "We tried to translate" Si "as" Master "and" fu "as" Father "but is not this way. There are two separate ideograms.two ideograms that are together has an another idea. "Si Fu" is "Si Fu," even  "father" is pronounced with the help of yet another ideogram. And for every person the "Si Fu" will represent something different, so do not freeze me, do not idealize me, so that our relationship can be alive. "

Congratulations to Moy Jo Lei Ou Family(11G VT)  and to Leonardo and Daniel(12G VT) of Moy Yat Clan from Rio de Janeiro.

ENTREVISTA COM MESTRE LEO IMAMURA (INTERVIEW WITH MASTER LEO IMAMURA)

(Ip Man em Hong Kong)
(Ip Man in Hong Kong)
Always when I think about my Kung Fu, I see how much I dont understand it properly. And at this times, I remember Ip man´s classes.
(cena de "IP MAN 2" : Donnie Yen interpreta Ip Man em Hong Kong)
("IP MAN 2" scene: Donnie Yen plays Ip Man in Hong Kong)
Afinal, eram muitas pessoas.
Indeed I think about it 'cause to me everything might be very fast, and the Si Fu had no time to explain things again and again and again....

Thats why Si Taai Gung Moy Yat is so different, his mastery came from a dedication during his youth just to stay with his Si Fu. And learn the Kung Fu even with no movements, just with the heart.
I know in person the Si Fu of My Si Fu since 1999, and all this time I just see loyalty from him to his master Moy Yat. Si Gung Leo Imamura talks very serious about Ving Tsun legacy.

Even after his Si Fu passed away he believes in a martial art that is not just about fight techiniques, but is also about human beings.
So he tries to extract from his pupils a natural Kung Fu as did Moy Yat as also did Ip man.

Então no Canal Psicologica TV no programa "DOIS PONTOS", Mestre Leo Imamura vai falar sobre um Kung Fu estratégico.
So PISICOLOGICA TV interviews Master Leo Imamura on the how "DOIS PONTOS" and he will talk about a strategical kung fu.

NEW LEGENDS OF KUNG FU MASTERS: "MEU SI FU" ("MY SI FU")

NEW LEGENDS OF KUNG FU MASTERS
"MEU SI FU"
"MY SI FU"

About Ving Tsun something is really funny:People always say that had any relationship with Ip Man People who were not even were alive at the time. But somehow they keep on claiming that their family or lineage was the only and closest to Ip Man for "N" reasons.
But all these people forget a person who is much closer. And in most cases is still alive: Their own Si Fu.

watching a soccer game with Si Fu at his home.

My Si Fu always says that our relationship was born during a crisis of mine. I was 18 years old, was going through a difficult time and for some reason I picked up the phone and I called Si Fu. He was at the Mo Gun  and asked me to go there.

Si Fu has helped me the way he could in that moment of emotional tension of mine, but the only phrase I remember clearly of that night of May 2002 was:

-Thiago, but ... why did you choose to call me?
-I do not know. I´ve just remembered you.-I said.
-All right. -he answered

Me playing the song TEMPO PERDIDO from Legião Urbana(the greatest brazilian rock band), The only one that I know. Si Fu is watching me.

Eu peguei o telefone e liguei pro Si Fu. Contei pra ele o fato e o que ele disse, eu lembro claramente:

-Pereira, onde você está agora?
-No meu quarto.
-Tem uma janela aí? - perguntou ele.
-Tem.
-O que você está vendo?
-Umas casas, o letreiro do Planalto do Chopp... (???)
-Sei...
- respondi.
-Boa noite Pereira.- disse ele.
-Boa noite Si Fu.

Many years later, I was very sad once again for something that had happened, it was a Sunday night. I picked up the phone and I called Si Fu. I told him and what he actually said, I clearly remember:

-Pereira, where are you now?
-In my bedroom.
-You have a window there? - He asked.
-Yes I have.
-What are you seeing?
-Humm..Some houses, the sign of the Planalto do Chopp restaurant ... (???)
-I know ... You know something?Somewhere right now, your future disciple can be borning . You can not see from your window, but he may be born right now. A person who in a few years, will call you "Si Fu". So think about it. Think that you have to stay strong for when this person comes to you..
-Alright Si Fu. -I said.
-Good night Pereira.
-Goodnight Si Fu.

During my Si Fu latest birthday, I´m doing a impersonation of him with support of Thiago Silva(left) and Carlos Antunes(right).

Meu aniversário em 2006.
My borthday in 2006.

My Si Fu always said that he is not my father. But he also says that I can pick up the phone any time and call him like if I was his daughter Jade. I think even Si Fu can not put a relashionship like that into words...

"At that time everyone was very concerned about their rank position within the Kung Fu Family  ... Now, since 1972 when Ip Man passed away, all these arguments and fights over who was the closest it had become meaningless.Only foolish people are still arguing about That.I just enjoy my memories of time that I spent with my Si Fu and the Kung Fu I got from him. "

Being with Si Fu to me, is not to be on the lookout for another new technique, or anything like that.
It's just follow him believing in some invisible bond that we only can translate as "Kung Fu". But that does not come out of my head, what the doorman of his building when every Saturday morning  those three guys in uniform receive him at 6:30 am to accompany him to the breakfast each morning before training.

For the doorman of the building, If one day he asks me why we stay there every Saturday morning, the only thing I could reply would be:

"He is my Si Fu."

And a video that I always put on here: "MOY YAT VING TSUN SUNSCREEN" wich is just about a relashionship with your Si Fu.

MO GUN ALL STARS : ANDREW DASZ (MO GUN ALL STARS: ANDREW DASZ)

MO GUN ALL STARS APRESENTA:
ANDREW DASZ (MOY HEI LOCK)
PARTE 1
MO GUN ALL STARS PRESENTS:
ANDREW DASZ (MOY HEI LOCK 11G VT)
PART ONE

Andrew Dasz(11G VT) is the name of this badass Ving Tsun practitioner from Argentina!
And today the Peartree´s Blog is bringing  to you an very touching interview with this: practitioner, actor, director, coreographer, etc

STAY WITH the FIRST PART of ANDREW DASZ no MO GUN ALL STARS!

BLOG: Onde você nasceu e onde vive atualmente?

BLOG: Where were you born and where you lives now?

AD: I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. And now I´m living in Hong Kong after living in Spain.

BLOG: When someone talks about Brazil and Argentina all over the world, then comes football(soccer) and dancing in the minds of people. But with 10 years old you started practicing martial arts in 1987, is not it? Did You had some inspiration or motivation to start training?

AD: That was when I was 10 years old. In fact, after watching a movie with Chuck Norris on TV, my father encouraged me to practice martial arts.Since that age I stopped to play football(soccer) and dedicated myself entirely to Tae Kwon Do.

BLOG: 2 years later you won your first medal in Tae Kwon Do along with your twin brother. The choice of Tae Kwon Do was by accident or something more  called your attention to this sport?

AD: With 10 years old you do not have many chances to choose. Actually was the one closest to my house. To tell the truth, my older brother (who lives in Argentina and works with photography, sculpture, etc being also an artist.) Had already started training in Tae Kwon Do did a year or two, but stopped practicing. And then we both returned to training.

BLOG: You were always very deep into the world of martial arts, participating in workshops with people such as Bill "Superfoot" Wallace. What you loves so much in the martial arts?

AD: Actually, I'm not sure, I always wonder. But I know that I feel completely identified with not only the traditional martial arts, but also boxing, UFC and action movies (especially the Chinese).

Enquanto no Brasil eu achava que tava "abafando" dando este chute no meu amigo(foto)...
While I tought that my kick was the greatest in south america when play with friends(photo)...
Si Sok Andrew(11G VT) took it to another level when play with his friends...lol

BLOG: We know that you also trained : Ninjutsu, Aikido, Hung Ga, but at first it seems like on Ving Tsun you devoted more heart. How was your first contact with this art and what caught your attention on it?

AD: I started with the Hung Ga Kuen. Soon after, my brother became interested in Ving Tsun. Then followed a lecture at a place called the Chinese Cultural Association in Buenos Aires. I remember the first time I made the Yi Ji Kim Yeung Ma followed by crossing my arms on the center line, I felt it was really the art that was searching for a long time . Since in Tae Kwon Do even though it was interesting, I think that many things did not "fit", especially in the forms. I paid much attention to this kind of training and felt an "emptiness." And the Ving Tsun filled this "empty".

- conta o destemido Andrew.

"I had 16 years old and I promise to myself to never stop trainning. At the time, who payed my trains was me. So I did many things to do it!" - tells the brave Andrew

From left to right: My Si Fu Julio Camacho, Claudio di Renzo, Leandro Crivellari and Paulo Freitas(all 11G VT)

BLOG: Como você conheceu a Moy Yat Ving Tsun?

BLOG: How did you get to the Moy Yat Ving Tsun?

AD: The first time I heard about the Moy Yat Ving Tsun, I thought of this as an impostor or something like that.'Cause I used to buy American martial arts magazines  (even not understanding English) and knew all the existing teachers but had never heard anything about Moy Yat.But gradually I got to know through the Si Hing Claudio di Renzo from Argentina. Who guided me into the Ving Tsun in my first steps.
Em passeio por Buenos Aires nos anos 90 vemos meu Si Fu(primeiro a esquerda), Si Gung Leo Imamura(de azul) e Si Sok Andrew Dasz(ultimo a direita).Além de Paulo Freitas, Leandro Crivellari, Ernesto Lazaro e Claudio Di Renzo.
During a walk trough Buenos Aires streets in Argentina, we see from left to right: My Si Fu Julio Camacho, Paulo Freitas, Leandro Crivellari,Si Gung Leo Imamura, Claudio Di Renzo,Ernesto Lazaro and the young Andrew.

Blog: How was your first contact with Master Leo(10G VT), and why you decided to follow him?

AD: The first time I saw Si Fu personally (since I knew him through many stories, because Si Hing Claudio always talked about him) was in Sao Paulo city(BRazil). When I traveled with my twin brother Steven to spend a week in the old Central Branch of MYVT in Brazil.I believe we had 18 years old, and was the first time that we leave the country alone, so we had to have written permission from our parents. Also was the first time I took a  plane.
It was a great adventure. We wanted to know another place and culture. 8 days staying in Brazil alone, I felt deeply connected to
Mo Gun.Something not feel by my brother and then I asked Si Fu (Master Leo) what I should do to live in Mo Gun. Since many people lived there, and among them, Leandro Godoy and Homero Pereira(11G VT), who helped me in my first moments on the Mo Gun.
A seta amarela indica Si Sok Andrew, a seta verde indica Si Sok Godoy(Hoje Mestre responsável pela MYVT na Argentina) e a seta vermelha indica Si Sok Homero.
The yellow arrow marks the young si sok Andrew. The green one marks Si Sok Godoy(Now the Master of MYVT in Argentina) and the red arrow is Si Sok Homero Pereira(11G VT).

AD: Si Fu was always very straightforward with me and I felt I should be with him in order to understand this process we call Kung Fu Life .In short, I returned to the Hub in November 1997, on the 17th to be exact. I decided to live there because It would be the best way to learn Ving Tsun. That was how I lived for seven years. And in January 2005, after passing through different processes and steps I opted to leave the  Mo Gun to devote myself to the fight choreography.

On the photo above, Si Sok Andrew alread older in a traditional picture with his Si Fu.

BLOG: During his time in Brazil, Did you had some Si Hing that you felt closest to ?

AD: I had many Si Hings  and Si Dais if I may say so since such Leandro Godoy is my Si Dai but  on many occasions behaved like my Si Hing in Brazil when I arrived.

(Master Fabio Matsushita 11G VT had some "peleas" with Si Sok Andrew like he said.)

AD: Fabio Matsushita was the "Yin and Yang." Many times I went through good times and others we would discuss much, but it was all because we wanted the best for MYVT. Each in his own way.Nathaniel also "The Nathan" (as I always called him) was the example to follow when it comes to training and dedication. Washintong, Osse, Dorival, Sabato, Lima, etc etc ... Si Dai who were there when needed. So when you live in a Mo Gun , your friends are your Si  Hings and Si Dais.

The arrow marks the young Andrew watching his Si Hing Nathaniel (The Natan) today a Master of MYVT showing the Luk Din Bun Gwaan.
Some years later the own Adnrew Dasz could handed a pole of the art which dedicated so much heart.

BLOG: What's your moment with Si Gung Leo Imamura  you would like to highlight?

AD: I loved going to Salto City  with Si Fu. Generally We followed him by car to his house on Thursday nights. I also remember when used to calls my attention  when something went wrong or did not work, but all these things serve a lot, much more than we believe.

Então Si Fu me chamou a atenção,  e naquele dia entendi o que estava fazendo ali.
- completa Si Sok Andrew

"I remember the first time that Si Fu asked me a favor, actually, I did not do well. So Si Fu called my attention, and that day I understood what I was doing there.Si Mo (photo above) also was always very attentive to me, I think perhaps more subtly than Si Fu. Because she did not appear much in Mo Gun, but she was there always when it was needed.

Eram muitas coisas." - Lembra Si Sok de sua época.

"Everyday we had some situations since I went to live there. I work out almost 40 hours per week. So I learned the portuguese to help the Mo Gun on administrative questions. There were a lot of things." Remember Si Sok.

Now you already know from where came the Jiu Paai...
...That our Si Fu Julio Camacho(11G VT) received from the hands of his own Si Fu and Si Mo...
....And that now is on our wall on our Mo Gun´s Jing Tong.

BLOG: In 2002 you were invited by his Si Fu Leo Imamura to Starting Baat Jaam Do. And between 1996 and 2004 you are dedicated enough to Moy Yat Ving Tsun. Passed through your mind become a Si Fu and have a Mo Gun  representing the Moy Yat Ving Tsun one day?

AD: Actually from '97 to 2004 I did everything that was within my reach within the Mo Gun.That gave me enough experience to see the positives and negatives points  of having a Mo Gun . I think my time in the way of administrative MYVT is now over. Now I'd rather just have private students. It's an option I decided to divide up my time with acting and choreography of fights.

AD: The interesting thing is that there is much similarity in the organization of a MYVTMI branch (for its professionalism) and film production. And then when we started the film production STUNT GAMES (juegos de lucha)assist both myself and my brother  the director in different tasks.Undoubtedly, the experience has served me in MYVT to resolve situations that often people from the film world does not know how to cope.

BLOG: You filmed with the legend Gordon Liu(Pai Mei from KILL BILL) one of my favorite actors. How was that?

AD: Indeed that was my twin brother Steven Dasz. I was going to play with Gordon Liu, but I was already in Madrid(Spain) to do some bussiness and I let my bro take the place. This is one of the advantages to have a twin brother. And he did a great job even with his injuried knee.

Barbados in portuguese means "some bearded men", and it has a very beautiful flag, that since I was young liked it.
Now Barbados is going to see the Ving Tsun blooms 'cause Ricardo Sealy, a student of Master Miguel Hernandez, invited him to help this moment of start.

Segundo as palavras do próprio Si Baa Gung Miguel: "O Grupo ainda é pequeno, mas eles realmente gostam de nossa Família Kung Fu."
Following the own words of Si Baak Gung Miguel : "The group is small at the moment, but they really enjoy our family Kung Fu."

In front of the Seven Star Cave in Guanxi province with his Si Fu Moy Yat.

Indeed, Master Miguel is very well respected in Brazil, 'cause everytime that he is here we see just good kung fu.

On this photo, Si Baak Gung Miguel stand between my young Si Fu Julio Camacho(11G VT) and si Sok Homero Pereira(11G VT)

On this photo, Master Miguel stand by the side of the legendary Jeffrey Chan who has defeated the EYEBROWN STYLE SIfu Crazy Chow in a story that you have read (HERE) and (HERE)

Em Barbados o Ving Tsun começa a florescer.
In Barbados the Ving Tsun starts to bloom.

The KF Family of Barbados enjoying some moments with Master Miguel Hernandez while they also enjoy some icecream.

Indeed, Si Baak Gung and Si Gung are very good friends.
Si Gung is always talking about how much Si Taai Gung Moy yat used to like to be togheter with Master Miguel, also, because his kung fu. Master Mi Guel could be present or invisible as the situattion asks to.

Congrats to Barbados and good luck to Ricardo Sealy and the KF Family from there!
